Tried molletes, a dish from Puebla, Mexico at @cafe con leche cafe on Hubbell. It's a new breakfast and brunch spot that serves coffee, Mexican pastries, shakes with Mexican ingredients like horchata and mazapan, ice cream, breakfast and lunch items. It's not a huge or overwhelming menu, but there's a good variety. The service was friendly, and we didn't wait long for our coffee or meals. It's locally owned and operated by a sweet family who have owned a few other restaurants in Des Moines. Their experience shone as they kept patrons moving, even though they kept streaming in throughout my meal. It's a cute little place with a relaxed vibe where you can sit and enjoy your coffee and visit with friends and not feel rushed. I ordered the mollete because I had never heard of it before. It's toasted baguette smeared with refried black beans and pico de gallo, topped with queso fresco. It paired perfectly with my cappuccino. My friend got a breakfast burrito and said it was tasty. Many people were ordering the chilequiles and raving about them so I want to go back and try it, along with their shakes.
