A Birthday Dinner to Remember at Café Cortina
We decided to try Café Cortina for a birthday dinner, and from the moment we stepped inside, we knew we made the right choice. We were greeted warmly—in Italian, no less—followed immediately by an English translation. That set the tone for the rest of the evening: charming, thoughtful, and impeccably executed service.
Shortly after we were seated, Emirion arrived with fresh bread and water. He was friendly, helpful, and proudly told us the restaurant has been family-owned since 1976—something we hadn’t known but loved hearing.
We started with pan-fried artichokes and an incredible lemon aioli (I wish I remembered the Italian name!). They were absolutely delicious. Our server, Myranda, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the evening feel effortless. When I had questions about wine, she immediately offered to send over their “wine guy.” Enter Andrew—who was fantastic. He quickly understood our varied tastes and made spot-on recommendations, including a bold red that was not only excellent but also a great value. I ended up ordering it later in the meal and was thrilled to take the rest home, thanks to their corking option.
For my main course, I went with the Agnolotti alla Piemontese—tender pasta filled with braised beef. It was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Myranda mentioned it was her favorite dish, and now I see why. We also ordered a chicken dish and a vegetarian pasta from the menu—everyone loved their meals.
As we were leaving, we ran into Mo, the manager, who had also been the one to greet us when we arrived. His energy was infectious, and he genuinely seemed happy that we had enjoyed our experience. His parting words? “Same time next week.” Honestly, we just might.
A perfect evening—amazing food, warm service, and genuine hospitality. We’ll definitely be back.
