For the Cultura
Every time I passed by this spot, it was like seeing a fresh pot of arroz con leche simmering on the stove--tempting, comforting, and absolutely on my list to try. The food always looked like it could deliver, and let me tell you, it does. Flavor? Nailed. Consistency? Solid. Delivery? Spot on. But then I started wondering, ¿Por qué no tiene una calificación más alta? Why isn't this place rated higher? And then I went there... and found my answer.
It's not the food--it's the falta de hospitalidad. Now, no one was rude or mean, but let's just say the staff could use a little more abuelita energy. You know, the kind where someone greets you at the door with "Mijo, pásale, siéntate, te traigo algo ahorita mismo." Instead, I got vibes of "figure it out yourself, compa."
Here's the rundown: it's a place where you order at the counter, pay, and then seat yourself. Simple enough, except no one--nadie--said hello, acknowledged me, or even threw a "ya mero te atiendo." And when I finally got to the register, the cashier told me I could go sit, decide what to order, and come back when I was ready. Cool, right? Except when I did, another staff member hit me with "back of the line, buddy," like I'd missed my turn at the DMV.
Enter Ariana--the heroína of this story. After watching me stand in line twice, while her coworkers socialized like they were at a quinceañera, she jumped in, took my order with a smile, and showed the kind of hospitality this place deserves! She was attentive, kind, and actually seemed like she wanted to be there. Gracias, Ariana!
So here's the deal: the food is 5 stars all day--pepitas of gold. The staff? Young, maybe inexperienced, and still figuring it out. Worth the visit? Totally, if you pack a little patience. Just pray you get Ariana, porque ella sí entiende la cultura.
