I've been visiting in the bay area for two weeks and this is definitely the best breakfast/lunch I had, hands down. We had the Zadie's breakfast sandwich, Big Ralfie's sujuk supreme breakfast, honey lavender black tea, and a chocolate chip cookie. The food was fresh and well-made, the staff was super kind, and the cafe's vibe is immaculate. This kind of local run shop is the reason I love visiting cities. It's so great to see a halal and black-woman owned place like this. I'll definitely be visiting again my next time in the area. 10/10.

We have lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and finally stopped by for my birthday. I feel sad that I missed out on this place for 3 years! We ordered the signature breakfast sandwich and huevos ranchero-like dish. I love the creativity and spin that the owner and chef put on the dishes. The biscuits were delicious! They had 2 sweet ones and 2 savory ones. I preferred the savory ones- jalapeño cheddar and the everything biscuit. They taste a bit richer and complex, compared to ones I have tried from other places. I am pleasantly delighted that the menu is so diverse- dishes ranged from burgers to chicken curry to biscuits. I will be back to try the other dishes.

This place is really cute, it got nice vibes and songs. First of its HALAL. I am super thankful for that because not many things are halal. So it’s always good to have more options. People with halal dietary restrictions definitely check this place out. The lady at the counter was very friendly and patient. I went there with my siblings, mom and husband, who took their time to decide what to order, We ordered all the food below and everything was fantastic. The rose and fruit along with some dessert baked sample they gave us were splendid! The only things my mum added to her grilled chicken plate was that the chicken felt a bit dry and not as juicy but the flavor she loved a lot, but then again my mum is a bit picky. The sample she gave us was of carrot cake, bread pudding and the ube pie/tart. All of them were really good. Our favorites were the bread pudding and ube pie, those were super super good. If you are in the area definitely stop by and try this place out.

🤯 Biscuits are better than Khanfectionary in the Mission. The jalapeño biscuit for the breakfast sandwich was delicious and comes with a nice arugula side salad. 🥚 We also had the huevos on crispy little tortillas. Very good, especially with the chipotle sauce on the side. ☕️ pour over coffe was also lovely 🥰 the owner stopped by our table to check on us and she is a delight. She spent about a decade in Berlin, Germany, and brings some international flair to the café menu, ambience, and playlist. 🤤 the everything biscuit, the apple pie biscuit, and the Matcha strawberry biscuit are also worth trying. I personally like the everything biscuit the best, but if you want something a bit more sweet go for the 🍎apple pie biscuit, and if you want a lot more sweet (think bear claw level sweet) then go for the Matcha strawberry option. You better grab a coffee with that one though ‘cause it is SWEET. 🛋️ the place has eclectic seating, with a couple of couches a few two top tables and a few four top tables. Great to pop in on your own, or with a few friends.

What a cute gem of a cafe to hang and work at! The vibes and atmosphere of this place is just so homey, and we were greeted and welcomed by such a warm soul in Yassy. The bowl was hearty and homey, drinks were cozy, and the cookies were such a delight. Thank you!!

Incredible small business with quality food and ingredients. Thoughtful menu and owner! Also the ambience is awesome! I got the chicken taco special and a yummy sweet potato muffin

Google
so happy to find a halal cafe serving such unique dishes and well crafted coffee. i got the halal spam and egg breakfast and every bite was fantastic. the halal turkey spam was sautéed and seasoned perfectly and balanced well with the house sauce, soft egg scramble and side beets/avocado. i'm also usually not a fan of fruit lattes but cafe da fonk has perfected the balance in their rose and fruit latte. not too sweet and just the right notes to taste the coffee. also got to try a sip of the chagachino and it was great too! lots of seating, natural light, vibey music, local art. would be a good spot to work! will be coming back here again :)

I learned about Cafe Fónk on Instagram and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the breakfast, especially the biscuits. The dining room is eclectic and fun. The cashiers were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely recommend Cafe Da Fónk to my friends.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Amazing service! Will def take people here for brunch in Potrero hill

Yelp
Cafe da Fonk is a relatively new place that we decided to try for brunch. The place looked like it was still getting set up. Upon placing an order we were promptly served . The veggie bowl was pretty okay and not specifically great. They had forgotten the sauce initially and took ages to eventually serve it. The tacos were also pretty standard. They were missing avacado even though it was noted as an ingredient. The muffin was also average . Overall, not the best experience and I think they need to get their setup organized and food consistent with what they claim on the menu.

Yelp
such a cute space! so many cozy sofas, plants, and an overall calming ambiance. got recommended the rose latte, it was such a large latte for the price i was very impressed. it had such lovely subtle floral notes as well. the locations definitely very out of the way, but stop by if you happen to be in the area!

Yelp
This has become one of my new favorite places in the city. I cannot begin to explain just how amazing the food is here as well as the service. You can tell whenever you visit here that every dish is made with love and care as each bite is delicious as much as it is comforting. I just come for the spam and eggs and to have a conversation with the owner, but as you look around so many people use the beautiful space here study, work, have business meetings, or simply meet with friends. The space is small, but everything here is set with a purpose. Zadie's Breakfast Sando is an easy pick as it is popular and very filling, but my personal favorite is the spam and eggs, I can go on and on about it, but there's so many dishes and teas here that deserve the spotlight. The veggie bowl is filling and flavorful, the fresh teas are just exactly that... FRESH, no teabag nonsense here so the herbs really do their job and stand out in the best ways possible. The biscuits are next level. As a guy who was never crazy about traditional biscuits, these really stand out from the rest as they are soft, moist and cooked to utter perfection, I dont think I've had one biscuit here that didn't simply taste amazing. Savory or sweet, they're all a hit. Lastly, I just wanted to talk about the lemonade espresso drink. I know it sounds crazy, but open your mind and your palette a bit and try something new, it kind of has an arnold palmer feel to it, but with a nice caffeine kick, it may be my favorite drink! When I say, support small businesses this is what I'm talking about.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Parking is a premium in the city. At one point, a parking space in a condo building was going for $100k. Hey, you can live in your Tesla and say you own a piece of property in the city! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Café Da Fonk! is located in a micro-plaza with FREE parking. And, sometimes...convenience and parking dictates where you should eat. Tho, there's more reasons to visit Café Da Fonk... It's quiet (you can get some work done but make sure to have a hotspot). And, they serve affordable AND flavorful food. Café Da Fonk! took over Good Pie which took over longtime brunch staple Sally's. They're open for takeout, delivery, and dine-in. Dog-friendly outdoor seating. Fast-casual. After ordering and paying, seat yourself and your food is delivered to you. When you're finished, bus your own table. M E N U They bill themselves as Euro-Californian Cuisine serving Breakfast + Lunch Sandwiches and Rice Bowls w/ rotating daily specials. Coffee + Tea. F O O D * Big Ralphie's Sujuk Supreme Breakfast Bowl w/ housemade sujuk-inspired lamb+beef sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs, buttered rice ($13): https://tinyurl.com/mpruudyh Not only was this visually appealing with vibrant colors, it's packed with flavor and satisfyingly delicious. The Armenian-inspired sujuk was boldly spiced with aromatics. It paired great with the rice and soft scrambled eggs, while the pickled onions + microgreens added a fresh, acidic punch. It's finished with a drizzle of creamy spicy mayo and slices of avocado that was browning. Maybe because it was my first meal of the day (lunch time) and I was hangry but I thought the portion was on the smaller side and could of used more sujuk. Maybe they can offer an option for double protein? S E R V I C E Prompt (only customer). A M B I A N C E Cozy and artsy (bohemian) with two separate dining areas and front patio seating. There's couches to chill on. P A R K I N G Private parking lot and there's metered parking. Overall, if you're not a fan of lines/crowds and are looking for a quiet place for weekday breakfast/lunch, give Cafe Da Fonk! a try.

Yelp
My search for good coffee had me here. Fresh ground coffee was very very strong. The owner, gave us a slice of sweet potato strudel. It was the best sweet potato treat I I've ever had. The Arnold's fonky Ruben remix was good. Black woman owned restaurant with an eclectic decor. The owner and the staff were very attentive.

Yelp
Super cute spot with lots of cozy sofas, natural lighting, plants and great food. Staff is super sweet and accommodating, food was amazing definitely recommend the breakfast Sammie with the halal bacon also got the iced chaga-chino with dark chocolate Perfect breakfast spot

Yelp
The staff is very nice and they work hard to make tasty meals to order. Expect 10 minutes or more for made-to-order food. And, it is tasty! Minus 2, and a warning here because they are often out of ingredients, so the menu is limited. Things may not be fresh, too. It is a huge space and there is parking, which is awesome. But again it feels like a struggling business that doesn't have the amenities, supplies, or controls in place to consistently deliver great products. It might be time to consider reinvesting in the business to breathe some life back into it. I think the initial buzz has been lost a bit.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch break from work. The owner is a very friendly woman who obviously cares about what she sells to her customers. I had the Reuben sandwich and the fresh lemonade. Both were excellent! The pastrami was thinly sliced and full of flavor. Came with a small salad with arugula and balsamic dressing. I had a nice conversation with the owner/chef- such a nice person. I'll be back for sure to support this neighborhood gem!

Yelp
I attended their soft opening this Saturday and had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and it was all halal which was refreshing! I tried (forgot the menu item name) croissant sandwich and an Arnold Ruben and they both were really good, fluffy croissant and eggs with amazing garnishing and yummy halal beef bacon! Their service was also very good and the staff was very kind. They gave us a free guava rhubarb (super yummy, not too swe!) because we waited a bit for our coffee. We also spoke to a staff member (maybe the owner) and they were super kind and welcoming! The ambiance of the seating area was also very unique and a great place to sit and enjoy your food. Overall great experience :))

Yelp
such a tasty breakfast sandwich - in a word, buttery. the biscuit is melt in your mouth good, the eggs supremely fluffy, the beef bacon crispy, and the sauce ties it all together. came with an arugula salad which was a perfect counterbalance. service was kind and informative. and you get to sit outside in a perfectly quaint part of town. highly recommend.

Yelp
Cafe Da Fonk! is situated in Portero Hill and is easily noticeable by the bright blue paint of the storefront. I came here on a Saturday morning looking for some comforting brunch food and can say I found what I was looking for. I was welcomed in by the employees and noticed there was plenty of seating past the cashier area. The dining area was surrounded by plants, which added to a relaxing dining experience. I ordered an oatmilk latte and Gaga's Grilled Chicken Bowl, which consists of stir fry veggies, cooked white basmati rice, and grilled chicken topped with some pickled onions and carrots. The jalapeño-based hot sauce on the side complemented the meat and veggies nicely. The oatmilk latte was creamy and not too sweet, which is just the way I like it. At the end of the meal, the owner (I believe) came up and asked if we wanted to take home some cookies since they were closing for the week and didn't want their bakery items to go to waste. I appreciated that gesture and thought it was really sweet of her to ask. I'd definitely come back for breakfast or lunch!

Jessica M.

Yelp
If you are debating on whether or not to pay this place a visit, please let this be your sign to do it! The best breakfast sandwich I've had, the eggs are so fluffy and the spicy sauce that is inside was so incredibly good that I had to ask for some on the side! The chaga-chino has the perfect amount of coffee and flavor, it's definitely a must-get every time. The spicy chicken sandwich, which is available on Saturdays, was so juicy and had the perfect amount of smoky flavor without being overwhelming! A great place to hang out or just sit and do work. Lots of seating options. They also have free WiFi available! This place definitely needs more recognition and is truly a hidden gem! Yazzy, the owner, is truly invested in making sure everyone is well served and satisfied!

Yelp
The food, beverages and service are amazing here! Highly recommend-others do a great job describing in detail and I agree. I just wanted to post that you should NOT order through Yelp to place an order. I made that mistake and the cafe didn't receive my order. Then I had to call Grubhub for a refund. So just order straight from their website!
google avatar

Debi B.

Yelp
A little gem on the corner. Fast serve. Friendly service. The best darn breakfast sandwiches. We are definitely coming back for the bowls. My 'kitchen sink' juice was just the pick me up I needed. Such a comfortable place. You could just sit, sip and read.

Yelp
Did a week long visit to SF and wanted to find a good cup of coffee away from the Tender Lion section. I found this Black owned establishment which was about a 10 minute Uber ride. The establishment was very interesting with regard to the decor. Reminded me of an art studio with creativity running ramped. Well, i got my cup of coffee and might I say I did not need coffee for the rest of the week as it was that strong and good at the same time. I also decided to dabble on a sandwich (Arnold's funky Reuben Remix) translated pastrami and Swiss. The sandwich was just ok but no comparison to a NY/NJ Reuben. The owner was EXTREMELY nice and gave me a slice of her famous sweet potato crumb while I waited for my sandwich which was out of this world GOOD. This spot is worth a visit especially if you like to support black owned businesses.

Daniel K.

Yelp
SO GOOD. THEY DONT MISS. Pastries, food, ambiance. Everything is so great. The drinks are alright, but they give a lot at least.

Yelp
Dropped in randomly looking for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Awesome breakfast sando. Very flavorful. My only comment is the bread (which was awesome in itself) fell apart. So ended up using fork and knife to eat. Didn't matter to me since I sat down, but would've been messy if I tried to eat like a sandwich. I am definitely coming back (my college kid goes to the art school nearby) when I'm in the area.

Jagath V.

Yelp
Every single thing on the menu here is amazing -- I don't know how it's so under the radar (maybe because it isn't open that long?) The breakfast sandwich and bowls are super fresh, and they warm the pastries before bringing them to you (try the matcha and strawberry biscuit) Definitely top 3 spots in SF

Nick A.

Yelp
It could be better. They gave me black (old) mint in my mint-juice.... They served it like it was the thing to do... It made me feel weird.. The ambiance is nice, but does not make it okay to serve nothing but the best... am I wrong?

Alex H.

Yelp
Such a yummy matcha, almost tasted like a soda. Service was super nice and efficient, def coming back.

Janelle K.

Yelp
Great experience, the food was AMAZING (especially with the fluffy eggs and fresh baked bread) and the atmosphere was super cozy Would definitely come back for the breakfast sandwiches and the fresh mint lemon honey tea!!! And also the people there were super friendly and down to earth!!!

Yelp
This is a small Black-Woman-owned restaurant business that you deserve to try! The food at Da Fonk is scrumptious and made with more love than imaginable. Tender, flaky breakfast biscuit sandwiches, delicious fresh greens and fruit and more! All made by hand and presented beautifully. Stop by and try for yourself. There is parking (wow!), charm, and the joy of bringing small business owner Yasmine some love. You won't be disappointed!

Marcella J.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. So cozy. So friendly. And super yummy. Everything on the menu is very delicious. I love these little local joints with homegrown vibes. A table is taking pics of all their food behind me. Our plates our empty. Thank you for the comfortable space, and always a delicious meal.

Angela N.

Yelp
matcha horchata latte (yum), and breakfast sandwich (not pictured), which comes on a homemade biscuit and is arguably one of the best I've had in the city as of late Breakfast Sandwiches
google avatar

Beatrice S.

Yelp
Wow. What a great hole in the wall! I had a simple turkey ham and cheese croissant and it was so flaky and delectably chewy and soft all at once!!! It was JUST a croissant but so worth it!!! The staff is super friendly and such a nice eclectic artsy area to sip and read. One of the staff forgot to bring me my latte and the owner herself came out to apologize for the (very minuscule wait) and gave me a cookie for my time! That was so above and beyond, and really made me feel taken care of. Plus, they have a mini parking lot... and when you drive from far away (ie Oakland like me), an easy to park space near the storefront is always a plus in my eyes. Go here. You won't regret it! Ps. Their coffee is very good too! Almost forgot about that ;-)

Yelp
Delicious breakfast sandwich!! Lovely biscuit, crispy bacon, fluffy egg and a special sauce. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Excellent. Food is eclectic in a great way, and very carefully prepared. Flavors are amazing, and the owner is super welcoming (and hardworking!) So far I have tried: - the breakfast bowl with the Turkish sausage, eggs and rice with avocado on top, it's like a halal guys plate but California fresh. So good. - latkes with smoked salmon. Carefully shredded potato and delicate seasoning makes the tender latke tasty, and perfect frying gives nice crispy edges. Also great. - kitchen sink juice, with fresh celery, apples, and a bunch of other stuff, super tasty The space is nice, with high ceilings and plenty of lights with huge windows and a skylight - and casual - feels like a comfortable well loved living room (instead of feeling like you're sitting in the Apple stores of cafes, ahem blue bottle I love you but sometimes a bit different is nice!). Can be a touch warm inside but I like that haha. I came looking for a cafe with parking to get some work done, there are good tables to work and someone has an Xfinity router that you can connect to if you have that service. But I'll be staying for the excellent food!
google avatar

Meghan L.

Yelp
Had a great experience at this Cafe this morning on our way to and from a hearing appt around the corner at Sound Speech. Ordered an amazing herbal rose tea that I wish I could get every morning. Then we came back for Nutella and strawberry crepes with fresh apple juice, and a Turkey cranberry sandwich on sourdough with greens. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful. The interior is comfortable and welcoming. (Thanks again!) If we lived closer we'd love to go there often. I encourage everyone to check them out!

Khadija A.

Yelp
Attended the soft opening today. The food was great, well worth drive as the food comes out freshly made. I had bit of all items and I highly recommended this place once it launches. Everything is 100 % Halal and made with love, the venue is quaint, with space to sit and space to park. The staff is friendly and i observed that they work hard to provide our community with fresh halal menu items. My Allah bless the kitchen staff.
google avatar

Najaf S.

Yelp
Best sandwiches that I've tried in a while!! & I'm not someone who even prefers having huge sandwiches. I'm craving their breakfast sandwich and the Rueben sandwich! No pictures because it was consumed too quickly.
google avatar

Marie O.

Yelp
Warm and inviting space with excellent lattes and yummy, fresh bites! Perfect addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Milan D.

Yelp
OMG - this place is insanely good. I am a big crepes fan and their sweet and savory options totally exceeded all my expectations. While I was waiting for my food, staff brought an iced coffee as a treat. I am blown away with service and food. They totally have my heart

Kelly S.

Yelp
I just found d this place today and will 100% be back. The Vibrant Veggie sandwich was sooo good and the strawberry biscuits were scrumptious. Excellent service and love the ambiance. So happy to have found this gem!

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious this food was. We got the Zadie's Breakfast Sando and it was perfect. Crew is knowledgeable and friendly. Give it a try.

William J.

Yelp
We loved this place. Good tunes, casual family friendly. Eclectic art, plants. Very home grown feel. Tasty Zaidies Breakfast Sandwich scrambled eggs on delicious home made biscuit. Attentive friendly servers.

Neda J.

Yelp
Today was my first time visiting cafe da fonk! The food was very yummy and they have halal options on the menu! We also ordered a chaga-chino and regular lattes, both were good! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cafe is pretty large and they have a lot of seating/couch/table space. Very chill and laid back vibes!! 10/10! Would encourage folks to visit them :)!

Yelp
Had a nice lunch here. Great community feel with plants, cushions etc. Welcoming. Yasmin (sp?) was a very gracious host and chef. Lots of healthy and sustainable options. I look forward to eating again at our new neighborhood spot, Cafe Da Fonk.

Yelp
Opening a new restaurant right now in SF is hard, yet Cafe da Fonk has set up shop and the staff is working to make it a great success. I stopped in today for a bit and it was delicious. I'll be returning. Supporting local, budding businesses like this is what SF is all about. Excited to watch this spot evolve and flourish!

Dylan D.

Yelp
A Black-Woman-owned restaurant - The service and (more importantly), the food, are both fantastic! The ambiance is cute with great art and plenty of seating. I've always ordered pick-up with ubereats and the food has been fresh and delicious. Sourdough blueberry pancakes - Fluffy, good portion, great mix of fruit in the pancake, just overall very solid blueberry pancakes. Zadie's breakfast sando masterpiece (W/ buttery croissant) - I am a sucker for a good croissant sandwich and this absolutely hits the mark. Fresh ingredients, perfect amount of eggs, bacon, veggies, definitely worth a try!

roland ..

Yelp
Breakfast sandwich is a homemade biscuit, fluffy eggs, beef bacon which is a perfect combination and well executed. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Absolutely nothing we did not like about this place - the staff is super sweet and welcoming, our breakfasts were delicious (omg check out the turkey "spam"), and it's a really charming space with lots of seating and beautiful plants. Will *definitely* be back!

Ethan K.

Yelp
We stopped by here for a quick breakfast on a weekday. Parking was pretty easy. We ordered a breakfast bowl, a breakfast sandwich, a croissant, a rose latte and a chaga latte. Everything was excellent! The breakfast bowl was a particular standout. The ambiance was also great: it felt like eating in a cool art studio. The staff was super friendly too. Totally recommend!

Yelp
10 / 10. This cafe is very welcoming. My coworker and I were impressed with how great of service we were given by the owner. the ambiance is very welcoming and the Iced Mint Tea is super refreshing and affordable at only $3!

Yelp
Had the Reuben mix sandwich which was amazing. Recommend as a great local spot. Price was reasonable and lots of seating

Yelp
What a wonderful find! This Café has a great vibe for hanging out. I also highly recommend the cold brew, paired with some sweet crepes, just divine. The service is super friendly and professional. I'm definitely coming back.

Yelp
Cafe de Fonk is really a hidden gem. I'm glad I discovered it. The food is amazing and the ambience is great! I like the paintings, music selection, and the beautiful plants inside.
