"It seems that Picasso, Hemingway, and the rest of that crowd didn’t spend much time at home. When they weren’t killing hours at the Flore or the Deux Magots, they were at the Rotunde in Montparnasse. The café, which retains much of its original charm, opened in 1911, and, as the story goes, the proprietor let starving artists nurse a coffee all day, looked the other way when they snapped off the end of a baguette and shoved it in a hungry mouth, and best of all, allowed them pay with paintings when they had no cash. The payment policy has changed (anyway, face it, you’re no Picasso) but you should go anyway."

It's hard to get a table at this restaurant, but it's definitely worth fighting for one. We had a full spectrum of dishes, from fish to pasta, and I can confidently say that La Rotonde serves excellent food. Everything was fresh, fragrant, and served without delay. I particularly enjoyed the aperitif. A special mention to the chef for the Smoked Haddock in Cream and Butter – the waiter tried to steer me away from this choice, thinking I wasn’t familiar with the dish, but I actually know it very well from the UK, where I worked. I love this dish, and the French chef made it even better than the versions I've had several times in London or Manchester. Delicious. However, the biggest discovery of the evening for me was the wine. I really regret not writing down its name, but it was outstanding – a red wine (rich, bold flavor profile with lingering fruitiness and a soft, velvety texture in the end -WOW!), and by far the best I've ever had in a restaurant. I love sweet things, so as usual, I ordered dessert. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The Mont Blanc dessert, although it looked fantastic, turned out to be simply unappetizing in taste – this dish definitely needs improvement. I would have given La Rotonde 5 stars if it weren't for the dessert. I highly recommend this place, despite prices being about 20% above average – it's worth it, beautiful setting, professional service, and great food.

An institution and a must visit. English was not an issue. This place very ornate and engaging. Our service was first class. Our hanger steak and Halibut were prepared perfectly. The real star was the Frisée salad. Omg! We had the profiterole for dessert. The ice cream and chocolate were incredible. Prices were very reasonable. The area around it also spectacular.

Wonderful meal celebrating a friends birthday with close friends & family. Lovely wine list. Fresh seafood. Traditional dishes. Deserts were the finishing touch. And the staff were great!

We absolutely loved La Rotonde. It’s such a beautiful place with an incredible atmosphere, lovely people and impeccable service. Everything we tried was beyond delicious — we honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. It instantly became my favorite spot in Paris — a must-visit!

Minimum service and cold face to English-speaking (or just Asian-looking?) customers - not all waiters but some. The food was okay. So much overrated. 别来

La Ratonda is a Parisian gem! Cozy vibes, exquisite French cuisine, and top-notch service. Every bite feels like a love letter to Paris. A must-visit for food and soul. 🥂🇫🇷

Google
Excellent!! The menu consists of all the standards but prepared and presented very well. The service was flawless, with a sharp sense of humor :) We had pleasant conversations with other nearby diners who were each pushing their favorite menu items! The wines were excellent as well. Will definitely go back the next time we're in paris

Yelp
Don't miss this spot... we basically stumbled upon it while in Paris ... definitely a highlight of this trip! The ambiance was perfect and felt a bit like stepping back in time, the quintessential Parisian brasserie experience. The service was on point and the food was fabulous. Highlights were the Soupe de Poissons, the expertly fileted sole meunière and the scallops. Great wine selection. I think next time in Paris I will go here at least 2x, once to try a seafood tower!

Yelp
It was our first meal in Paris and if I am honest none of our Paris meals blew me away. The service was good, the waitress tried and we tried to communicate as she didnt really know English. Escargot in Paris is a lot different than at the Keg back home. I guess the greener the better and these were green so I assume good. I liked them but not what I expected. Steak was alright and the wine was decent but not mind blowing. Wifes meal was the same decent... the overall vibe is a 80s steak house. Overall it was an ok dinner

Yelp
Were planning on going to Le Dome but had some amazing seafood for lunch at L'Avant Comptoir de la Mer so made an audible and crossed the street. Have been to La Coupole a few times and really enjoy it but my wife wanted to try another famous brasserie in Montparnasse. We got one of the last tables without a reservation when we arrived at 7:20 and had an absolutely splendid meal. Started with the frisée and lardon salad (basically a Lyonnaise salad) and the crab and avocado salad. Both were fantastic and I especially loved the 'guacamole' -- a real treat. For our mains we got the entrecôte and the steak tartare. The entrecôte was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the pommes dauphine alongside it were butter and rich and delicious. The steak tartare was a massive serving and seasoned perfectly (I also loved that they give Tabasco and a very strong mustard to ramp up the taste if you is desire. Service was polite and prompt and the interior is as nice as the other grand brasseries -- definitely worth a try (or in our case another visit)

Yelp
Old school at its best! Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful staff. Fantastic comfort food. Oeuf mayonnaise, white asparagus w/ hollandaise, sole meuniere and cote de veau -- all perfect. We had wine leftover, so fromage! Magnifique!

Yelp
Last year we spent most of our time in the "city suburbs" of the 16th with many sleepy neighborhoods filled with delightful adventures. This year we are staying in the 15th near Pont de Bir-Hakeim, which provides delightful metro access to areas we wanted to explore; we had our first sunny Sunday after a few days of rain and Paris spring cold; with the sun out we took the metro to Montparnasse - to spend time with the artists of the early 20th century. Parisian wait staff here extraordinarily busy for a hustling Sunday morning, we walked in and said our "Bonjours!' and were asked how many and asked to wait just a moment. The place inside is luxurious - people we dressed quite well for a Sunday morning, as American Tourists we felt "slightly underdressed" but were able to fit in. The floor manager was attentive (and busy) and directed us to the front door where a man was ready to sit us in a fine outdoor spot facing the street on a perfect sprint morning! The table was already set for us with white tablecloths and silverware and menus and glasses. The menus opened like the daily news and had on-offer seafood, meats and other fine foods. The back featured drinks and exceptional wine selections. Our waiter greeted us and we ordered sparkling water and a nice Rose Cote du Provence. Perfect for a sunny Sunday morning. We started our people-watching and we delighted with how busy this corner was - lots of people coming and going in their Sunday finery. Our waiter returned and we ordered our first course; Onion Soups of course! Despite how busy they were the food arrived reasonably quickly. The soup quality was impeccable - every bite had just the right amount of cheese and onions. We ordered light salads for our mains, and a lovely Red wine that turned into a second bottle. The wine was recommended with our main course and paired particular well! Looking about we saw other folks here having light brunch, or light faire. Others indulging in amazing seafood courses. One older man sat near us, Hemingway beard and beret - taking notes and enjoying coffee. La Rotonde was notable as it helps dawn the Parisian Cafe culture - all was required was a cup of coffee and you could sit all day and enjoy. The original owner, noting the artist culture sweeping Paris, it was told would allow artists whom could not pay for a coffee "she would accept a drawing on the napkin" in return for their coffee. As the afternoon came into view and the sun began to set we ended our lunch with a recommended light wafer-like desert - amazing! Staff were busy but on-point; as an American remember to wait for them to see you and just raise a finger - they may not come straight away but they will nod and get to you after running through their backlog of service. Here they were all five gold stars - all perfect with respect to service, recommendations, food, wine parings, all good. The bill was on point for what we had. Thank you La Rotonde for a delightful Sunday afternoon for three weary Americans!

Yelp
This restaurant was great!! One of my best meals since landing in Europe. The steak was cooked to perfection, the au gratin was cooked perfectly and flavorful. I also LIVED for the red wine that they me! To Note, they gave complimentary bread and olives. I don't like olives but these were good. Everyone at my table enjoyed their food and I don't normally finish my food but I did here. The ambiance is unmatched and extremely high end. They have heaters outside for cold weather. Yes they check your COVID card/green pass. The service was good but it also depends on who you get... The price was not terrible it was $120 or so for 3 people and wine. I would come back.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended by our guide who told us that President Macron enjoyed dining here. The onion soup was great, but everything else was just ok. And it was so overcrowded that we didn't even want to stay for dessert. We were squeezed in like sardines! Not a repeat as we say in the Wong household! Nothing compared to the marvelous meal we had last night at La Dome.

Yelp
Super old school restaurant with lots of red velvet, and the waiters in black and white. At one time I would have found the place extremely intimidating but I'm old now and don't have time for that. Came for my birthday dinner. Started with alot of rose. Lovely and cold. They even supplied ice in case it wasn't as cold as it should be. Then dropped off bread, radishes and olives. Snacked on that until our French onion soup arrived. The venue alone dictates that the French onion soup is going to be outstanding. And it was. Amazing. Then we splurged on a huge platter of seafood for 2. Oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp. It brought tears to my eyes it was so good. No room for dessert but it looked excellent. We will most definitely be back.

Yelp
What can I write that hasn't been written about this legendary establishment? This is not "haute cuisine" or even "fine cuisine". This is French comfort food served on tablecloths round-the-clock more or less. Let's see, we had salmon tartare, a steak and the chicken. For dessert we had sorbet and isle flottant. Was everything perfect? No, as a matter of fact, the chicken was extremely tough and I did not like its sauce. Everything else was excellent. This was the priciest brasserie we ate in (up to this moment). The waiter was extremely kind with us until we were supposed to pay and leave, then he seemed done with us. This is a legendary brasserie, all things to all Frenchmen, a perfect brasserie if not a perfect restaurant. I cannot see anyone's being seriously disappointed with it.

Yelp
I read about this place. Was excited to visit and check out the place that the artists and writers once sat and enjoyed themselves. Well known artists loved this place because Libion, the owner enjoyed the presence of the artists. Libion was well known for accommodating artists with the bohemian atmosphere and his friendly nature. Today I was sad to see the atmosphere was not the same. I would imagine Libion being very disappointed in his staff, the host and waiter. I was so disappointed that I literally walked out and went across the street to Le Dome. Maybe I'll give it a try one day and actually have an opportunity to order and taste the food to see if it's good but, I was there to get a sense of the spirit that ONCE WAS. That's all this place has to offer since great food can be found on every corner and even across the street.

Yelp

Yelp
Bohemian brasserie with rustic food, located closed to the Eiffel Tower! We made reservations here after research revealed this was frequented by Picasso and is still a popular spot for Parisian Intelligentsia. We started with the seafood platter. It varied from escargots to head-on shrimp. It was delicious! The escargot was plump and fresh, with a clean taste (we ordered the plain ones, not the ones cooked in garlic and butter to really taste the ingredient). The oysters and shrimp were fresh, sweet and juicy. My salmon was a larger portion than expected, which I shared with my dinner partner. While a little dry, it had beautiful grill marks, and was flaky in texture. The potatoes and broccoli were treated with respect to the ingredient; clean and served whole. We stayed for a while without feeling rushed by waitstaff, enjoying our meal and people-watching around us at the corner of the two boulevards. Overall, I enjoyed dining in a historic Parisian establishment, and look forward to returning.

Yelp
Everything was delicious here, steak cokes perfectly, creamy peppercorn sauce outstanding, cod was a little underwhelming but the sauce and veg with it were great and overall it was a great dish. Service was great even though it was very busy. Profiteroles were perfect, nice fluffy crunch, creamy ice cream decadent chocolate sauce.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant. Started with snails and pate which were delicious. We were brought a ton of bread and olives but at one point didnt have any side plates so felt like we made a mess with the bread. Ordered steak with bernaise and it came out more cooked than i would have liked but the potatoes were to die for. Service was wonderful and had the tarte tartin and lots of wine. Lovely ambiance for the evening!

Yelp
Amazing dessert is all we had. Famous place in Paris. We couldn't get a reservation for dinner so we came only for dessert,

Yelp
Have you ever felt like you were in trouble for eating at a restaurant? Because that's pretty much how it felt eating here. My partner and I arrived in Paris pretty late and this place was open late. Very beautiful restaurant and they didn't seem overly crowded. They had seating right away. But that's about where the good stuff stops. The waiter was the rudest person I'd ever encountered. I'm American and my partner is British. But we are extremely respectful people. He started with "What do you want?" In the snarkiest tone. We ordered promptly. A few moments later the food came out and he practically threw it on the table. I wish I were exaggerating. Not even an "enjoy" or "here's your food" just toss it on the table and walk away. Once we were finished he walked by and rudely asked "Finished?" Which luckily I heard because it was practically under his breath. I understand that I'm in France, not America. But a little courtesy would have been appreciated. English may not be his first language and I understand that. But being friendly is universal. I hope this gets better.

Yelp
Heard fantastic reviews about the place and it lived up to the hype. Just a heads-up that they have a fixed menu (Salad + Fries + Steak), the steak can be swapped with a cheese platter. The deserts and the wine stole the show for us!!

Yelp
Fabulous dinner and wine - staff attentive and knowledgeable. We started with martinis and delicious oysters, then moved onto pate' and salads - everything was delicious as we have dined there many times. Delicious and can't wait to return!

Yelp
Eating here completes my true Parisian experience. Can't get anymore authentic that this place.

Yelp
I thought they had turned on a heat lamp, but it was protesters burning the awning above our heads. Then I felt cold water hit my head from an old woman in a window. All in all one of the best dining experiences in the city.

Yelp
Classic french breakfast done right. Fellow yelper, Catharina I. brought me here on our recent meetup in Paris. Loved the cafe and the food. And the interior? Stunning. I didnt know the history of this cafe until I was told it was once a gathering of famous writers and artists (eg picasso, ernest hemingway, etc). I loved their hot chocolate and croissant, and with le bon marche (shopping mall) close by, you'll need all the energy before you hit the counters for another round of shopping extravaganza.

Yelp
Americans DO NOT COME HERE!!! We were refused service and told they were "full". We were standing in front of 7 different empty tables. The staff knew we were American and did not speak French and denied us service based on that. One waiter was keen to seat us however what looked like the boss came over and said "No, full." A party of four like us, who spoke French, were seated immediately after we were told no, as we were standing there confused as to why we couldn't be seated. IF YOU DON'T SPEAK FRENCH AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Yelp
Disclaimer: This review spans over the course of 2 visits and starts off with a sob story before the actual food review begins. Enjoy. ----------------------------------------------- Sunday, May 13th I was really excited to try this famous café so, after an underwhelming evening at the Moulin Rouge, I headed over sometime around 11pm. I got a little lost on the way and made it in just before it was closing at midnight. For this reason, I expected the service to be curt and rushed. When I walked in, they said they only had a limited menu but other than that, were nice to me as they showed me to my table. I ordered a hot chocolate and began setting up for pictures. A tray arrived with a cup and 2 little pitchers, one filled with thick chocolate and the other with scalding hot milk. As soon as I raised it, I was startled by the burning sensation and before I knew it, there was milk everywhere. I was mortified and sure I would get cursed out by the waiters who were looking forward to wrapping things up for the night. However, my server was SUPER sweet (I didn't get his name!) and reassured me that everything was ok. He cleaned my table right away and came back with new pitchers for me. I was SO embarrassed and on the verge of tears so I just asked him for a croque monsieur "to go". He said I didn't have to leave and that it would be fine if I stayed but I told him I just wanted to go home. Then he asked, in a genuinely concerned voice, "Will you come back?" "Yes," I replied. "Will you come back tomorrow?" "Yes. Thank you." *sniff, sniff* ------------------------------------------------ Monday, May 14 So the next day, there I was. Sadly, my original server wasn't there but I sat at the same table by the window. Once again, I received exceptional service and had the best meal during my whole stay in Paris. Of course, I started with the hot chocolate (pouring it VERY carefully) and ordered grilled asparagus and smoked salmon. The asparagus had melted cheese on one end and prosciutto on the other, then drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. It was beautiful and delicious. Usually, I don't care much for smoked salmon but the way it's served here makes it 100 X more amazing! It's so simple... lemon and crème fraiche. I was basically kissing my fork every time it left my mouth. My only regret about this place is not having been able to go back every single day. Needless to say, I loved it and I highly recommend it... Just be careful with the hot chocolate.

Yelp
The food is good not great. The problem lies in the cost of the food compared to the quality. We ordered the French onion soup to start as well as a Caesar salad. The salad came out fine, but the French onion soup was not brought out. We instead received the crab avocado dip. It was really good, but it was not what we ordered the waiter assured us we did. Maybe it's a French thing, but I've never had a server tell me literally to eat the food and like it. Overall not a bad place, but probably would skip if you only had a few days to spend in Paris.

Yelp
Came here back to back twice because everything from appetizers to desserts was exceptional can't find one thing to fuss about. If you are looking for good food, good atmosphere and good times you've come to the right place. Nothing else to add.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever had! I liked it so much I came back today as well! The service is amazing and you can tell they really care about each patron who come and eats at this restaurant! I ate outside and they have nice heaters that provide lots of warmth! I had the French onion soup! The soup was amazing with lots of cheese and bread! Each bite was amazing and full of flavor! The second course I had was the snails! They come in there shells and are served warm with melted butter! First time having snails and I loved them! They tasted great and the sauce was great to dip bread in! For main course day 1 I had the steak with the red wine sauce! The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! Day two I had the sea bass which was great! (Tip you don't eat the skin on the sea bass). For desert I had the Creme brûlée! It was freaky and tasted great! By far one of the best meals I've ever had! I highly recommend the food and service!!!

Yelp
Yum! La Rotonde was a great, quick restaurant we stopped by when we couldnt happen to find anything else appetizing around the area. Its a simple fresh restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is unique and provides and old time French feel. The menu has options for some portions of the day alongside options that are available throughout the day. We visited twice, once electively on the way to the train and once begrudgingly when everything else around us disappointed. Once there we will thrilled and without disappointment. We ordered a few things including tartar, french fries, escargot, chocolate lava cake, etc. Everything came out in a timely fashion. They were all freshly cooked and prepared and perfectly spiced. Sure there is a level of restaurant above this, however, the quality and price is very much competitive. It certainly is a good restaurant that you can count on. For those who dont speak French, there are many English speakers and English menus as well!

Yelp
I visited Paris for the first time in May with my boyfriend. He was on a business trip and brought me along (smart guy!). Paris was everything I thought it would be and more. In my extensive research of places to go, I happened to stumble across La Rotonde, not only because of its age and Hemingway mentions, but because it supposedly has the best steak tartare in Paris. Because our time was short, I booked only a few places and left the rest to chance. On our first full day in the city, we took a walk from our hotel down a random street and there was La Rotonde. Just begging for us to come in. It was the morning, we sat at an outside bistro table. We both ordered our espressos and I ordered a croissant as well. Croissants should only come from France. The end. We loved our time there. We ended back up there that night to sit outside amongst the rushes of people of Montparnasse and drink fabulous French wine. We realized this would be our spot. We ended up there each day of our trip, usually at the end of the night, wanting a night cap (bottle) of wine before heading back to the hotel. One of the days, I had to meet him for a reception and hadn't eaten all day. Before rushing back to the hotel, I stopped for some wine and the steak tartare. In America, steak tartare is an appetizer. In Paris, it's large enough to be a meal. I couldn't finish the whole thing but boy did I try! It has since ruined ALL steak tartare for me in America. Such a wonderful blend of spices, mustard and capers. When I returned to the hotel, I told my boyfriend it would be a crime for him to leave Paris without trying it. So the next day, I met him for a late lunch before his reception and we shared it. Now he understands. That was the only food we had at La Rotonde, but we shared a lot of wine and laughs. And we still talk about sitting out at that cafe to this day. The servers were friendly. It was filled with locals. We felt like we'd been going there for years. We know if we ever return to Paris, we will definitely be in walking distance of this fabulous place.

Yelp
Wow, what a delicious meal and wonderful service! I understand this place attracts the tourists, but I don't care because I had the best time here. I went for the steak tartare and asked them to mix it rather than doing it myself. It was absolutely amazing. The fries that it came with were also perfectly done, and I'm not even a big fan of fries. I got the Napoleon for the dessert - it was amazing. (I also got creme brulee on a second visit, and it didn't disappoint, either.) In addition to the awesome food, I must say that the waiters were absolutely incredible. Everyone was so nice. My waiter was this very kind, friendly man who went out of his way to help me out. He made me feel very special, but I noticed him behaving this way towards everyone - he was just that nice and friendly! He made wine suggestions and (my favorite) took it upon himself to cut my Napoleon for me so that it would retain its shape while I was eating it. :) I can't say enough things about this place - definitely try it out if you're in the area, and come down here to try it out if you're not.

Yelp
A reasonably priced typical French dinner that was delicious. The English menu was not much easier to interpret than the French version. I ordered the dinner special, appetizer, main course and dessert. The pan fried laborie pig's trotter was similar to hash browns in texture. The old style veal blanquette stew was mildly flavored pieces of tender break veal and shallots in a butter cream base. I finished the meal with the Baba au vieux rhum. It was an eclair like pasterie soaked in Martinique rum. It was a very strong flavored rum that over powered the pastry.

Yelp
My wife and I arrived in Paris from Bordeaux in the early afternoon March 20 (my birthday). We decided to have our lunch at La Rotonde as it was close to our hotel and we had been there several times in the past few years. It was around 1:30 pm when we were greeted and seated quickly. The waiter brought us the menu (in French) and we ordered two glasses of wine to start. While we were looking at the French menu (though we do not know French), another employee who appeared to be in a higher position (bald headed, not that old, and dressed in a suit ) came over and asked us if we speak french and if we were ready to order. I mentioned that another waiter had been helping us. He rolled his eyes, shook his head and seemed quite bothered He then went to the waiter that had initially helped us and appeared to voice a complaint to him in french. I have to say the whole event was rather odd and most definitely un-called for. To make matters more strange, the suited man then came back over and took our order (as opposed to the original waiter). I ordered the Penne Pasta and my wife ordered the Gambas. The suited one told her she should order something else like a salad with this particular dish and she complied. When he brought over our food, he never cracked one single smile. He put down my wife's side dish salad at the edge of the table. She moved it in front of her, he immediately moved it back to the corner, and then put down the (Gambas) main course without saying anything. He acted like this was where each dish should be. Personally....I believe that is the choice of the paying customer as it definitely belittles that particular patron. The attitude and conduct of the "suited" one will remain a mystery. Were we not dressed correctly? (Though others were not dressed as nicely as us). Did he think we did not have money or experience in a restaurant such as Le Rotonde? That would be incorrect. I just want to point out that I'm not going to throw the blame on the old "rude waiter in Paris" syndrome. Right around the corner in Bistrot Du Dome....My wife and I have dealt with some of the nicest and most humorous waiters that we have worked with anywhere in this world. The "suited" man at La Rotonde was either having a bad day OR he was way out of line. The food, wine and dessert were extremely good and we will return as we have in the past. I won't let one bad apple spoil my day or my future plans. Although....If I was La Rotonde, I would dismiss this uppity employee at once.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our French cuisine at La Rotonde. They were very helpful with my gluten allergy as well. The escargot was the best I've had. I also had the veal which was a huge slab of meat that was undercooked (I ordered it medium well). That was really the only downside. Everything else was done very well and I definition felt like I had a traditional French experience. Bon appetite!

Yelp
My review is only for their chocolat à l'ancienne. I was walking to Les Catacombes and saw someone sipping on this magical elixir. Unfortunately they don't offer it to go but you can take a little break and sip on this magical drink.

Yelp
Update (This Week)~ Dinner was so delightful last Sunday...I just had to go back for dinner this Sunday. I had the salade frisée aux lardons et croûtons, œuf poché' again just because it was so delicious on the previous visit. The Troncon de turbot poché (Red Label) with Hollandaise sauce and spinach was prepared perfectly. I had to try the Baba au vieux Rhum Clément et sa crème legére à la vanille. It was generously soaked in a delicious rum from Martinique that was similar to a cognac. You, however, are given a bottle of Clément rum if you feel the need for additional rum on your dessert. No need for an after-dinner drink tonight (Miam Miam!!! Pure indulgence!) The staff was once again pleasant, delightful, and helpful. My new go-to brasserie! Complimentary wi-fi. www.rotondemontparnasse.com First Review (Last Week)~ La Rontonde is a famous cafe located in Montparnasse founded in 1911. The restaurant was once frequented by notable artists such as Pablo Picaso, writers, and other Parisian intellectuals. The restaurant has a warm bohemian charm. Our waiters were very friendly and accommodating. They even had a salad custom-made for my friend. The restaurant has a beautiful fresh seafood case outside that included petite escargot, oysters, clams, and crab. I had the salade frisée aux lardons et croutons, œuf poché; filet de bar poêle au citron; and mille-feuille prépare minute à la vanille Bourbon for dinner. Everyone's meals in the restaurant looked devine! The baba au vieux Rhum Clément, where you are allowed to pour your own rum, was very enticing! They also do a nice job honoring their guests' birthday.

Yelp
One of the best bistros in Paris. Authentic food of excellent quality served in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Jerome our attending waiter and Phillip one of the senior chefs who prepares one of the best steak tartar's at the bistro, if not in entire Paris made our experience exceptionally memorable. If you are searching for a great bistro in Paris, in and by itself a formidable task, this is your top choice!

Yelp
Slightly touristy and trendy - esp if you dine outside - but deeply classic and sophisticated once you're inside. Seating is a bit cramped, but the patrons and waiters are very friendly and personable so it's not terribly awkward brushing past them or asking for a table to be moved. I had the Crispy pastry filled with Goat cheese, tomato confit, basil and olive puree & the Pan-seared Sea Bass fillet in lemon butter cream with rice and confit which was SO delectable. It was PERFECT. The fish, the buttery flavor meshing with the slightly tart lemon, cooked to perfection...it was maddeningly GOOD. My sister had the free-range chicken supreme curry with madras rice and mango chutney and I loved that as well.

Yelp
OK, I know it's touristy, I know it's trendy since Marine Le Pen bagged on Emmanuel Macron for celebrating there (who knows why...it's not that fancy) but the food is fabulous and the location can't be beat. Heck, the place has been famous for 100 years. Frankly I was shocked at how good the food was, particularly considering it's history. Nobody is resting on any laurels here. Our first visit we had the French Onion Soup (incredible!! The best I ever had easily!) the steak with peppercorn sauce and the poached Turbot. The return trip got us the Sea Bass in a lemon butter sauce (so freaking good I've been dreaming about it for days...buttery and tart at the same time.) and my wife went again for the filet with the peppercorn. This time with au gratin potatoes. It's a fantastic place.

Yelp
First day in Paris and first Parisienne restaurant. I tried asking for a table for one in French and the server responded in English. I was slightly relieved, practicing my French makes me nervous. Anyway, I sat outside for front row seats to people watching. The place is filled with locals having their cigarettes/drinks and it seemed at 7pm, I was the only one dining. The server quickly dropped off bread, olives and butter to start. I had the cote du rhone and the steak tartare which could feed two with a smaller appetite. It came with mixed greens and fries. You know how they know you're not a local? You're getting ketchup on the table. Once I got up to leave around 8:45, the place was swarming on a Sunday. Friendly service + good menu.g

Yelp
Everything was amazing! I'm back in the states and dreaming about their steak tartare. When we came upon this restaurant we were greeted with smiles from the waiters and maitre'd. We came around 6pm and were seated promptly we were told that the tables by the windows where for reservations so try to snag one if you can. By the time we looked up from our menus the place was buzzing! What a great classic ambience. I started out with the french onion and my husband had the foie gras. Both were amazing. We then moved to our main plates which were steak frites and beef tartare. Our palates were blown away! No wonder Macron loves this place so much! Dessert was the perfect ending! Creme brûlée. Classic but great! Making this my first stop when I'm in Paris again!

Yelp
Cute restaurant. Wonderful wait staff. Food is decent. I had the sea bass and it was tender and tasty, the sauce was delightful. It is popular to both tourists and locals.

Yelp
Well this review is seriously overdue! But, I won't forget it and I'm reminded why I enjoyed Paris. Part of my visit was to try a variety of places and because this quaint restaurant was near our hotel we decided to venture. Yes, I'm fully aware of how expensive it is to eat in restaurants in Paris, but the weather was nice, the mood was great and this restaurant added to our enjoyment of the evening. We started with Ceasar Salad and they love there anchovies (heavy), and the Foie gras (delicious) even though I wasn't a fan! We moved to the entrees and enjoyed White Fish with a aioli sauce that was yum and I had the Steak with citron confit (medium) that was really tasty. After the meal it was nice to glance and people watch but we enjoyed our waiter who fortunately spoke english and was also very nice considering we've heard how nasty parisiens can be towards americans.

Yelp
Very delicious restaurant. Me and my friends came for my birthday. It's a very sexy ambiance. They have a ton of different drinks from sweet to sour to dry to whatever your heart desires. The only bad thing is so much smoke! If you're not used to it it would be annoying!
