Loved our time at Cafe Deko! Such a great atmosphere, with beautiful decor. Our coffee drinks were delicious and the vegan scone was the best I’ve had! Looking forward to visiting again.

Cafe Deko has a really unique interior with cool Art Deco decor that makes it stand out from other coffee shops in Chicago. The vibe is cozy and stylish, and I enjoyed my coffee and the friendly service. It can get a little busy, but overall it’s a great place to relax. Four stars!

I stopped in to finally try this place. The service was amazing. The staff was so helpful and patient with my order as I was being indecisive at the time. I ordered a Chai latte and apple Danish. Delicious 👌 not to be a dick but I feel main counter is lacking a bit in style, decor, and definitely craftsmanship. Art deco is a large expressive style and this bar* or counter is a bit on the rustic side and visibly done by a diy person. Not to say that it's bad but a more bold and magnanimous counter would piece this place together very well. Lastly, I love the selection of the wallpaper but once again it is lacking in craftsmanship. It was definitely done quickly and on a budget. Again, that's ok but art deco is a crisp and clean style leaving no room for error. There was music playing but I didn't pay attention since it was basic pop music rather than something a little more fitting to the experience. If I was asked about this spot, I would say that it is a hipster spot with an deco twist, and I mean that with all due respect, no malice. In conclusion, terrific service, great options, and room for visual improvements. Would definitely return 👌👌👌

A stylish and cozy café with excellent coffee, fresh pastries, and a pleasant atmosphere for a morning or lunch. The dishes are fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive.

Busy atmospheric bean tavern with excellent coffee. Landed here for a bit on a Sunday and got a tasty cold brew. The place is decorated to look 1920/30s(?) and was buzzing with conversations. Notably fewer laptops than friend circles give the place a brighter energy.

Cafe Deko is a cozy, solid neighborhood coffee shop with a nicely settled interior that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy your time. Their drink selection is well thought out, offering plenty of good options beyond the basics. The food menu is simple but satisfying, with a small selection of sweet and slightly sour baked goods, along with a few sandwiches to pair with your coffee. Nothing overcomplicated—just a dependable, comfortable spot you’ll be happy to have in the neighborhood.

I was actually planning to go to a different cafe today. As I was walking by this place, I realized I’d seen it on Instagram before! I come to this area a lot since my friends live nearby, but somehow I never noticed this cafe… So I changed my plans and decided to check it out. I’m so glad I did! The vibe here is amazing, and the coffee is absolutely fantastic! Definitely a new favorite😍

It’s a hip and cool spot to grab a coffee and a tasty (although expensive) sandwich and take a comfy seat to enjoy it. Their coffee is tasty and you add your own cream/sugar. The space itself isn’t huge but it’s full of seating and decor that takes you back to the roaring 20s. So many monkey lamps! There were a bunch of people studying while I was there. I really enjoyed my sandwich and added the chips they came with in the sandwich for that satisfying salty crunch. It’s close to grocery, fun, and more, too!

Love this cafe's ambiance! Art deco theme is so fun & makes for very comfy sitting areas. This my favorite cafe to work from! Wifi works well and the tables are big enough for a laptop, notebook, and mouse. The coffee is wonderful too. I am not a huge coffee snob, so it's difficult to be bad in my book but I definitely enjoyed my cup of Joe.

I'm having a hard time with this review! The ambiance is wonderful. The cafe is beautiful. Maybe I'm biased, because these are my wedding colors. It's a nice place. The service was quick, easy, and the barista was super sweet and informative. The space is large enough for people with mobility aids and service dogs. The lights are not so bright that they will bother people with sensory sensitivity. Bring some headphones or earplugs for sound sensitive people. My coffee was fantastic. The espresso is great. The oat milk is lovely, lavender honey latte is so the way to go. I wish I came here on pleasure as opposed to business. I was enjoying myself very much until the wifi began to give out every 2-3 minutes and reconnect after about 5 minutes. It was so frustrating to try to work on my manuscript and have to pause for 5 minutes every few minutes. My experience was soured by this. I will update after next time.

**disclaimer I only had a black coffee and a banana, I didnt try their food/ pastries** 9:30am on a Friday morning and the place was bustling and the friendly baristas were hustling The bar is a nice spot for solo first timers to take the space in after ordering. (One common downside to smaller places like Cafe Deko are the solo goers who take up larger tables, but it is like I mentioned a smaller space so I digress.) I'm privileged enough to say that $4.25 for a large banana and a 12oz cup of joe was affordable; I enjoyed the banana and I have yet to sip my coffee as I'm typing this. Also the bathrooms are through the tinted door in the background I assume. I also like to note that I don't see an outlet near me. They also have a window where customers can ring a doorbell to pick up an order or place one!

Coffee is good! Reasonably priced and there is seating area available for working too. Pretty nice neighborhood cafe. Has been on my list for a while so I'm glad I was able to stop by.

Loved visiting this cafe during our long weekend in Chicago! The cutest interior. Love the colors. Comfortable seating. Friendly staff. Great options for coffee and non-coffee drinks. My matcha was perfect on a cold rainy day! In a cute neighborhood that seems fun to explore. I highly suggest checking out if you are in the area! We were able to easily park on the street nearby.

This was the cutest coffee shop! I wish I could have stayed longer but we were running off to a college visit. This would be a sure fave if I lived here. It's got the music, the service, the great vibes and of course the decor. Oh and yes -my drink was phenomenal as well! I had the white mocha and I wish I had two. See you next time Cafe Deko!

We popped by this morning with a baby and toddler for a really quick breakfast. Plenty of tables to sit and enjoy a coffee, meet up for a chat or even get a little work done. The cashier and barista were both super friendly. In fact, the barista came to give me the drinks bc I had both kids. I got a chai tea latte and my husband got the flat white and both were hot and well made. The ambiance is very cozy and it was a fun cafe with a Gatsby vibe. They have food too - we tried the spinach feta pastry- yum and my toddler insisted on a banana which was quite the savior this am. The coffee cups were really cute too! They have definitely gone the extra mile with all the small details throughout the cafe. We will be back!

I've been wanting to come to this place ever since I moved here and it took 3 years for me to get here! Absolutely love the vibe of this place: it's so cute and cozy and a great place to work remotely. My friend and I came here to do a little "WFH" and catch up on life. I tried the maple cinnamon latte and it was great! Nothing too special but I enjoyed the flavor. We also split a sandwich that was flavorful and a great lunch. Wish they were open later but I get it. Can't wait to come back

Cute place. This is the type of coffee shop you want to go to for a coffee date or to meet up with friends. Coffee took a while but it was still good. I haven't tried any food but would go back there to see what they have.

Stopped by on a visit to Chicago because a local recommended them. It's awesome inside - a mix of cozy and lively, so much to look at with the colorful art deco interior. It was difficult to get a table so be ready to stand and wait. Otherwise, great!

A regular stop on my morning runs, I my go to is the cortado. It's nice to sit at the bar top, chit chatting with the great staff.

Wow the interior is so unique and beautiful and impressive that I became a bit skeptical about the quality of coffee because I was afraid it's just an "insta friendly" coffee shop. Got an iced honey lavender latte and it was decent. Strong and not too sweet. Not the best that I have had but definitely not bad. The service was friendly and fast.

I got an iced white cafe latte with strawberry syrup. This was pretty good but got a little close too strawberry flavored water 1/4 way through be there was way too much ice. The area is just as cute as it looks in pictures but a little smaller. Note only the booth seats have outlets and the other tables are a little too small to share between 2 people, so keep that in mind if you're planning to work/study with someone. Overall, the service was nice, I'd recommend giving them a shot! A great alternative to chain coffee shops!

We stopped here for coffee after lunch. There was a steady flow of customers even at 3 PM in the afternoon. The interior lives up to its name; it's beautiful. Cafe Deko has a nice corner location, but unfortunately it's not terribly spacious inside. The service was very friendly. We ordered a honey lavender latte and a cappuccino. Pricing was fair. My wife enjoyed her latte, and I liked the cappuccino. On my cappuccino scale, Sparrow Coffee is a 10. Most other capps I have from other places are about a 5, while Dunkin Donuts' capp is a 1. I'd say Cafe Deko's capp is a 7.5, which is good. I'm only dropping one star because of something not totally in Cafe Deko's control. There was no seating available for my family of 3 because most tables were taken by people working on their laptops. I get it; it's all the rage to work at a coffee shop. But there were literally two 4-person tables taken up by 1 person each. That's potentially 8 paying customers who would have their drinks and leave, but instead 2 people were hogging the tables for who knows how long. Maybe they purchased multiple items, but maybe not. There was also a table where someone had their laptop plugged in and people were having to climb over her charger wire. I know this might come across as harsh because perhaps some people don't have a home environment conducive to work and studying, but I feel like these folks should either take a bar stool at the front counter or take their drink & work to a library instead of hogging 4-person tables.

First off this is a beautiful space. Cozy and quiet. Even with several people inside, it stayed quiet. Most were working, studying, relaxing. It was a beautiful way to start our morning. Very calming. The service was kind and quick and the decorations unique and lovely. However, the butter croissant was not what I was expecting. And I know my standards are high since I've had many delicious croissants in France. But this one seemed comparable to the local grocery store bakery. I was glad to find it warm, but it wasn't flaky or nearly as tasty as I'd have liked. Th hot chocolates we ordered were yummy but nothing to wow us either. Hence the three stars.

Love this cute place!! It's got such good vibes, amazing art, plants, and wallpaper, and the baristas are super friendly and kind! The coffee is p good and very cheap for the area. I love sitting down with friends and just catching up. Parking is easy to find and there's Dom's market just across the street if you wanna find something to eat. I've had both the matcha and the coffee and both are super yummy. Would recommend and take a friend here!

The service was great! I ordered an iced espresso with oat milk that was pretty good. I loved the decorations and the environment in there. It was pretty loud if you wanted to do work in there, but a great place to chat with friends

A cool spot but alot smaller than I thought after seeing social media pictures. The honey lavender latte with almond milk was tasty. The chairs are super comfortable as well. This was a nice spot to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon!

Love the atmosphere here! There is lots of seating and feels both elegant and cozy. Good cold brew and friendly staff! Definitely a unique spot I will come back to.

This place is a good staple, but ultimately not worth a drive if you are far. The ambience is quite cool but not as amazing as it seems. The drinks are super solid though. The chai tea is fantastic. Definitely recommend if nearby for the chill vibes and good drinks.

Super cute and trendy coffee shop in Lakeview area! My friend and stopped by on our morning hot girl walk and I was very impressed with the interior design. You can definitely see a lot of thought and time was put into the presentation. The coffee itself was good quality and well prepared too. The barista was super friendly and the service was fast. I just got an Iced Oat Milk Latte which is nothing too standout, but I would definitely recommend stopping by for the ambiance!

Come for the atmosphere, stay for the coffee. But seriously, you can't go wrong at this spot. The coffee is amazing. The food is so good. And the decor is incredible. Definitely recommend and will go back again when I'm back in Chicago!

Croissants could be a bit better and coffee too...... and now to the positives! The decorations were gorgeous! There was a lot of detailed put into the ambiance. There was not much to say about the baristas, there were nice! There were a lot of people working on the tables but there is still plenty of seating space. I would go again! Paid parking is available on side of the streets.

Such a cozy place to do some work, or just unwind with a coffee, latte, or matcha. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon to get some work done with the company of some cafe treats. The cafe is extremely bright with ceiling to floor windows letting in awesome natural light. They have real chairs, and they are so extremely comfy which is a good add if you plan to work their like I did. The chairs just make all the difference. The cafe is also decorated very nicely, Boho chic if you will which is another detail that allows it to be comfortable and inviting. Overall, I spent about 3-4 hours working is usually hard for me. Thanks Cafe Deko for offering an awesome, space. I ordered Matcha which was overall okay. Not the best I have had but pretty good. I also ordered a croissant which was buttery, flaky, and soft. One of the best croissants I have had in a while. On my way I ordered their marble cake which was the star of the show! Sooo moist and bold with vanilla and chocolate flavor. I am unsure if it is a permanent bakery item but stop by and see. I recommend!

Located at the intersection of Halsted and Diversey, right in the heart of Lincoln View East, you're greeted with sniffs of their signature blended coffee, gold trim, and jungle decor, accompanied by the infamous wall monkeys who, I swear, are watching my every move. Cafe Deko is a place to boast about. Its unique style and layout attract a hip and energized crowd. The people here are interesting - from the bubbly and helpful baristas to students asking ChatGPT to edit their final thesis papers, to the solo city explorers looking for something new and interesting (myself included ‍). I'm surprised I haven't seen this place featured on @Chicagofoodauthority and others alike. Aspiring influencers, get your cameras ready; this is your chance for virality. I have to say, the chairs here can't be beat. They're elegant and comfy, and you'll leave feeling rested albeit mentally drained after a 6-hour study session. They have two top couches aligned along the main wall, broken up by real plants... Bonus points for the real plants, by the way. Deko is definitely the place for an awkward first date or a casual reunion with friends you haven't seen since the start of the pandemic. The coffee itself lives up to expectations, even exceeding them. My go-to was the specially blended Cappuccino, iced - which I found interesting since I don't think I've ever had an iced cappuccino before in my life. Honestly, I'm here for it, minus the powered Cinnamon garnish... I forgot there's a reason my safe word is "Cinnamon" The over under on Cafe Deko? It's underrated. Fair to say this will be my go to coffee shop when I'm in the area. Although if I had one thing to change, it'd be the playlist. The house snob in me wants more Deep House. Then again, when am I not craving more of that?

Just grabbed a coffee inside to go. The coffee taste itself wasn't anything crazy but I would try it again! The service was nice enough nothing crazy special but I didn't sit inside The ambiance was crowded and decorated nicely but it was pretty crowded. You may not be able to get a seat if u want to dine in.

Stopped in on my way to the beach and ordered a cappuccino. Coffee was delicious and the seating area is super comfy! Not a large seating area, but a good place to stop in and read a book or work for a short while.

The environment is comforting and inviting the prices are just a little steep for me.

This place is a pretty cool coffee shop with beautiful Great Gatsby aesthetics. I had the lavender latte and it was fair. It had a very strong lavender scent which was powerful combined with the coffee flavor. Wouldn't mind checking out this place to sit and try their pastries and food items next time!

THIS PLACE IS SO CUTE!! Like straight out of a movie. I stopped by real quick for a coffee and pastry before heading to a coworking space. I found parking down one of the residential streets nearby. Otherwise it's paid meters. Feeling festive, I got a Peppermint Latte (with oat milk) and a Cheese Danish. Both were tasty! Coffee wasn't super strong. Service was quick, though. I'd love to come back again by myself or with a friend and just hang out in this fancy environment. Maybe get work or reading done.

The decor in here is beautiful, and my most recent experience here was nice because we had arrived just before it got full, so finding seating was easy. I like their comfy 2 seater sofas along the back wall. This place gives a nice vintage vibe with the darker green tones and black and white checkered flooring. The girl who took our order was super friendly, and we got our coffee and tea in no time. Seems like a great place to get work done if you can snag a spot by the wall where (I'm assuming there are power outlets?). Either way, this is a nice little coffee shop with great vibes and great drinks. I'd return for sure!

I've wanted to try Cafe Deko for months, and I'm glad I finally could. This cozy coffee shop has beautiful art deco decor and vibe. They have many places to sit that are comfortable and free WiFi as well. Their coffee menu has a perfect assortment of options, including seasonal lattes. I tried their maple cinnamon latte, and it was divine. They also have many pastry options that looked delicious, but I did not try on this visit. I look forward to coming back!

Such an instagram place. Coffee was average, nothing to really draw me in to say " I have to come back here". All that aside it is a beautiful interior, so kudos for the decor

Cafe Deko has such a unique and fun atmosphere, it's the perfect spot for a first date or meeting up with a friend. They have plenty of milk substitute options, I got a chai latte with soy milk and it was great!

Talk about a vibey place! Super cute interior! Tasty coffee, and reasonably priced! We got the iced chai tea and the iced pumpkin spiced latte and both enjoyed them. It wasn't the best chai I've had, but definitely not the worst!

One of the coolest coffee shops vibes in Chicago, but the wifi drops out a lot and you won't go here for the food or service. They are only serving disposables, including a paper bag and plastic wrapped knife fork and napkin for my bagel, which sadly went into the trash immediately. No recycling either. Landfill waste has tripled in last two years. Barista was bored and didn't bother to call my name after she toasted my bagel and left it sitting on a counter, even though I was sitting there at my table 10 feet away waiting for it and I had confirmed I was "here." Was cold by the time I asked about it while she checked her phone. Sign on every single table saying to keep your feet of the furniture. I mean, fine? But it's the kind of hospitality level of being glared at by your friends mom. Just little service things could really improve the quality of this shop. But the art deco monkeys hanging off the wall are still pretty damn cool.

Cafe deko is one of my favorite places to "work from home" at. The atmosphere is so cozy and cool that it makes me want to sit down and work and never leave! The turkey sandwich is my favorite and I love their cold brew!

Really 3.5 stars but rounding up. I love the ambiance here - it's great to meet a friend or get some work done that doesn't require Wi-Fi. I've done both and I probably won't come back for computer work because the Wi-Fi goes out a lot/is slow. Makes it really frustrating when trying to do work. Drinks are a bit overpriced compared to other nearby shops and not as good IMO. Worth stopping in once and awhile but won't be a regular spot.

Super cozy spot with dark green velvet and gold accents throughout. Seats go fast at all the times you'd imagine they'd be busy, but service is friendly and swift, and the drinks are spot on. I'd love to try and come here with a book sometime.

Cafe Deko is another great new coffee shop that has become a favorite. It took its name from the Art Deco architecture style. Look at the inside and it certainly seems like it with the decor looking all classy and throwback. Good place for coffee and pastries but a bad place to find an empty chair. The prices are a little high but nothing unordinary. I like the decor as much as the coffee. Old appearing vintage Art Deco. The place is supposed to look like the 1920s or something. Apparently many others here think so and they seem to like it. There's even more than that to like too. Decor wouldn't matter nearly as much if they had bad coffee. Even making it better are the cookies and pastries. These pair up pretty good together. I like the Americano. It's $4.20 with non dairy milk. This is kind of expensive but it was fresh and smooth. I got a vegan scone the last time here. It's $4.25 for it and most of the pastries are about as much. This again is kind of expensive but it was so good and you pay up for better quality. Oh well the prices are comparable to many other coffee places around here. They have some good prices on the less fancier ones and the pastries sometimes get discounted when they're getting rid of some. Fun atmosphere. It's fun as in let's read a book. This is a great place for hanging out and getting into literature but please move along so people can have those seats and tables.

I loved it! I first saw it on tiktok and knew I needed to visit! It's so regal! Styled beautiful and quaint! It is pretty small but has a good bit of seating! Seems like most people enjoy working there for the day so if you plan to do so get there early! I unfortunately didn't have much of a seat! The drinks were affordable and there were a lot of options! Really great matcha

Brightly lit, spacious deco atmosphere with plushy furniture and groovy beats. Good for dates and small study groups. The staff is very nice. The monkey-shaped sconces are amusing.

The bagels and muffins were average ($3). The staff could have been nicer... I guess they might have been a bit overwhelmed by the fact that the place was full. But they did not seem to care. And it felt a bit transactional. There was a lot of people when we went. We had to wait for about 20min to get a table, as a lot of people were just working. However the coffee was good and the ambiance (the way the place was decorated gave it a 60s vibe) was really cool.

Really cute neighborhood cafe. I tried the ice honey lavender latter with almond milk, and it was very tasty. The almond milk is $0.60 extra, which is about standard. I also got the butter croissant warmed up, and it was very good -- buttery, light, and flaky. The cafe itself is in the Art Deco style of the 1920's and '30's, which is pretty unique. There is plenty of seating, and the chairs are comfortable. I came in around 11 on a Wednesday, and it was pretty full, with most people on laptops. The music was a bit loud, but fine if you don't find that distracting or put in your own headphones. If with friends, it's not an issue. Staff was also nice and efficient, and would wipe the tables as soon as anybody left, which is nice considering it's Covid times. Vaccine cards are checked if you're planning on staying in. I only knock off a star for the prices; I paid $9 for a latte and croissant, which is a little much, but otherwise it was good and I will definitely return.

My previous review was for another coffee shop in the area oops. I got the Iced Honey Lavender Latte with soymilk and half syrup. I really appreciated that the soymilk was not overly strong. I was glad to get half syrup because full might have been far too sweet. I also appreciated that I could taste the coffee pretty strongly. Would recommend :) wifi is not the best but can suffice for work.

Love the decor. Love the tranquility. The coffee was good - smooth but very lightly acidic, not too sweet, full bodied. They have vegan and non-vegan options. The vegan scone was quite tasty but not really the texture of a scone. Would have given it more stars except for two things: I am a stickler for tea being served at the correct temperature and steeped correctly. It was way too hot. AND I ordered a turkey and cheese croissant. I was given a spinach and feta croissant. The spinach and feta croissant was very salty.

Cafe Deko was one of my first neighborhood discoveries when I moved to Chicago, and I have been a regular ever since. They have spoiled me for coffee because their flat whites are so good that everywhere else is a disappointment. Most of all, I love the atmosphere: cozy and pleasantly bustling, but always warm and friendly. I take all my friends here, and recently brought my two young nieces who adored everything. The Deko staff were also so accommodating and made them feel extra special. It's sure to be a favorite of anyone who comes.

Super cute place!! Love the interior, had a lot of character that was truly lovely and had care and time put in to create a ~vibe~. Matcha latte was good! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Honey lavender latte was a little lacking in the lavender flavor for me but still enjoyed it. Came on a Sunday and it was busy throughout the day. If you're coming here to study be prepared to wait a little bit as table turnover is not quick (lots of people studying at tables or meeting with a friend). there is a nice little bar area for patrons to get water during their stay. Lots of students and people coming from local yoga class. They do have notes about not putting your feet on the furniture but still didn't deter the woman next to me from taking off her boots and walking around with socks...
