"No matter what kind of day you're having (or terrible decision you're on the brink of making) a trip to Dell Rooster in West Town guarantees you've done at least one thing right. Because coming here is always going to be a good idea—and not just just because this all-day Latin American restaurant has great food (and it really, really does). Dell Rooster is one of those paradoxical places that works for all sorts of situations. You can comfortably sit here with people you politely refer to as “acquaintances.” But it also has the kind of moody lighting and artistically plated food that won’t make a date wonder why you brought them here. The space is decorated in cute chicken murals and plays salsa music at a volume that’s still a vibe but doesn’t force you to scream across the table. The food is affordable (most dishes hover between $15-30) and servers enthusiastically explain the origin of each dish, and offer suggestions along the way. Which is easy to do since everything is a hit. The oxtail sitting on fried sweet plantains is an example of a share plate that shouldn’t be shared, and the cheese-filled Colombian-style sweet corn cake covered in a rich vegetable seems like the culmination of a farmer’s life work. But whoever you’re sitting at the table with doesn’t really matter. As long as you’re here (with a plate full of plantains and oxtail) you’ve made at least one good decision today. @infatuation_chi I was told gatekeeping Dell’ Rooster was not an option ???? #chicagohiddengems #chicagofoodspots #chicagorestaurants ♬ original sound - Infatuation Chi Keep scrolling for the food rundown Food Rundown photo credit: Kim Kovacik Ropa Pal' Viejo Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the only correct one here is: this starter is incredible. The ropa pal viejo is a combination of sweet plantains topped with a little pile of stewed oxtail, cheese, and a squiggle of guajillo aioli. The chili in the aioli gives it heat, and there are some pickled onions to cut through the richness. photo credit: Kim Kovacik Arepa De Chocla We humbly submit this light-yet-filling dish as our favorite on the entire menu. The sweet Colombian-style arepas are filled with a bit of cheese, and covered in enough vegetables to make you want to lean against a plow, wipe your brow, and look into the distance while saying, “Looks like we might get some rain.” photo credit: Kim Kovacik Coconut Shrimp These perfectly fried shrimp are swaddled in a coconut blanket. They’re crunchy,a bit sweet (especially when dipped into the mango chutney), and have enough coconut flavor, but not so much that you feel like you're at the Tommy Bahama bar in Fort Lauderdale. photo credit: Kim Kovacik Short Rib Barbacoa Definitely share this. Not just because it’s a lot of food, but so you and the person you’re sharing this with can take turns waving the bone around while exclaiming how delicious it is. The meat falls off the rib, and dragging a forkful of it through the creamy grits and smoky chipotle sauce creates a perfect bite. photo credit: Kim Kovacik Pernil This mountain of pork shoulder, caramelized sweet plantains, and arroz con gandules is everything a hearty dish should be. It’s layered with crunchy chicharron, and has added complexity from a smoky, sweet sauce that’s made from five different chilis, including guajillo and pasito. photo credit: Kim Kovacik Tres Leches Like everything here, this dessert is both very tasty and very pretty. Cute dollops of meringue top the soaked cake. And while it’s not swimming in milk, we promise it exists—you’ll see it ooze out when you cut into it with a fork." - Adrian Kane

Every time we visit we enjoy a dinner here with the family. We love the whole set up, live music, great drinks, amazing food, and friendly staff. Great gluten free options as well!

We were a group of five and had a really great time at the bar. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a casual night out. The service was excellent—our server was friendly, attentive, and always had a smile. Drinks came quickly, and they checked in just the right amount without being intrusive. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we were enjoying ourselves. The view from the bar was also really nice—open and pleasant, adding to the overall vibe. Definitely a spot we’d come back to!

Google
This place is absolutely wonderful! I have been to Fort Lauderdale plenty of times and Cafe Del Mar has the best service. I have been here 3 days in a row for breakfast and the service is wonderful. Carolina is very attentive and wonderful server who made us feel very welcomed and made our experience exquisite. 5 stars.

Google
They don’t allow to drinks refill to be change. I ordered lemonade from the fountains , but I can’t change to the sprite. Wings is dry. I mentioned the fountains drink taste like club soda because there are no syrup . They said the fountains drink is just that way and they didn’t seem to care to fix it

The view is great, right in front of the beach. We were a large group of 13 people and got a table right away. Service was amazing.

Google
The cafe provided a pleasant experience. Our orders of latte and cappuccino were satisfying, while the avocado toast was decent. The chicken omelette stood out with its excellent taste, while the veg omelette was average. The pancakes, however, were truly amazing. Situated near the beach, the cafe offered a delightful ocean vibe. The seating was comfortable, and the service was commendable. I would recommend this place for a delicious breakfast and brunch.

Are here twice during our last trip one the days surrounding our cruise. We are big foodies and felt the portions were large and everything was fresh and flavorful. Seating outside was perfect and the wait staff were very attentive. I had the lobster pasta which was really full and the sauce was delicious. Meatball starter was delicious and the fresh ricotta was the perfect addition.

I took my husband here for an early Father’s Day dinner and we have the best experience. Lucia was absolutely fabulous and made it so special for us. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided the perfect balance of attentiveness while letting us enjoy our night out. The food, ambience and especially service, from Lucia and all staff, were excellent. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We were walking down the sidewalk across from the beach and the first thing that caught my eye was the big drinks on the podium hahaha. We stopped in for brunch, I had a margarita, started with a 12/2 dozen oysters which were solid. I chose the the avocado toast with smoked salmon for my main. It came on nice multi grain toast with a healthy service of avocado on top and of course smoked salmon. We were seated outside across the street from the beach. Great spot that I'd definitely return to.

Yelp
This Italian oceanside patio restaurant/bar/cafe is top notch on the Fort Lauderdale Strip. This elegant establishment was an extreme upgrade from our last four locations on our Pub Crawl. As you enter the dimly lit stairs toward the wide open entrance, there is a man playing mellow spanish music on his electric guitar (the wife tipped him a 5 spot). The vibe was definately calm and inviting. A huge clear glass wine case was the centerpiece of the bar consisting of many big wine brands - definately a perfect picturesque location (see pics). The far right side of the restaurant was a warm relaxed feeling cafe with wooden tables and wicker type chairs. They offered espresso coffee, vibrant big muffins, croissants, tarts, eighteen flavors of gelato ice cream, The huge quartz top bar was stylish and the wonderful bartender Arlette was chatty and fun. She started my wife off with an Aperol Spritz which was prepared superb and was 2 for 1. The waiter placed a massive stromboli in front of me but it actually belonged to the man a few bar stools down - Dang. Will order that my next trip here. FYI: They do auto add a 20% tip and a small Ft Laud strip fee to the bill but Arlette was so much fun I double tipped her, which is extremely rare since we only had two drinks. The bathroom was super modern and clean sporting light beige wood panels covering the floor and walls.

Yelp
Great location with an amazing view of the ocean but, the drinks were lacking. We ordered the 2 for 1 jumbo drinks and it literally tasted like fruit juice, not a drop of alcohol to be found. However, our beautiful surroundings temporarily distracted us from the fact we paid nearly $50 for glorified kool-aid and lemonade.

Angie O.

Yelp
We stopped in to get something quick and ended up staying longer. Live music was good they had someone outdoors signing. Our waiter Andre was very friendly and always checked in on us. The food was okay. It was pricey for the quality. We really appreciated that Andre did have them make another salad due to the first one having a bug in it. You do get to take the drinks to go if you don't finish them while you're there, so that's cool. Thank you Andre for everything, we appreciate you!

Yelp
The service here is impeccable, the atmosphere is amazing. You can either sit alongside the beach or inside viewing it no matter where you sit here you feel the Florida vibe. There got to be something special about Fort Lauderdale because you just feel such at ease. This establishment adds to that having a Mimosa for brunch on their patio was everything. I had lunch here the day before it was really good so I went back for breakfast. I had the muscles for lunch my friend had the wings both were so good. In the morning my experience was not as well. But the mimosas were so good the pineapple juice was so sweet.

Steve C.

Yelp
The service and the food were great. We had the shrimp cocktail and the chicken wings. Both were great. We sat at the bar because it was happy hour and at the bar you get half price appetizers . Cafe Del Mar is located on the Ft. Lauderdale strip so we were concerned when we were the only people in the whole place. It may be the price. Even for an upscale Italian American restaurant in the beach it was very pricey. The y had happy hour drinks 2 for 1 but on drink was $39. How is that a happy hour deal.? They just charged for two $18 drinks and then said it was a happy hour 2 for 1 deal. Anyway the food, service and location make Casa Del Mar worth a try.

Shoreh R.

Yelp
We had the worst breakfast ever at this place. Terrible food, terrible service. We paid $50, not worth it $1. I don't know how they stay in business. The location is great but they need new management. Do not eat there!

Reena G.

Yelp
We came here to have some giant drinks at the bar. It was but one get one half off I believe. They were really good and strong. We shared some appetizers here as well. The meatballs were tasty so were the onion rings. Our bartender was super friendly.

Srujana M.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for an early breakfast. It's right on the ocean so definitely beautiful views of the ocean. I had a delicious latte. We also had bloody Mary with the charcuterie skewers. All I can say is excellent. Excellent excellent. Very hot outside because it's June but they have these really great fans that kept air blowing on the outside seating.

Cristina H.

Yelp
Had breakfast lunch and dinner here. Service was great and quick. Indoor and outdoor sitting. Right across from the beach. For the crab cake eggs Benedict, was more fried than expected. I figured this was going to be better than it was. Big. Came with seasoned potatoes with onions. I liked but my daughter didn't. I got a vanilla latte. It was good but much sweeter than normal. I ordered a po boy sandwich to go one day. It was good, big. Came with fries and they put ketchup in the bag for us. Loved that. Could have used more sauce for the sandwich. Pizza and Caesar salad were really good.

Matt C.

Yelp
This place is a scam. Food is good so it's some what worth it, but go in knowing it's a tourist trap. They tack on a mandatory 18% which is crap. The service was slow and mediocre. Lamb and pizzas were great.

M R.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot by the water. French toast is amazing! Home fries were extra crispy as was the bacon. Enjoyed everything!

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Love this place and the fact that it's right across the street from the beach. The staff is very upbeat and kind, and the food has always been delicious. It's very casual, and the food is very tasty. I love seafood and pasta and they make both deliciously!

Yovanni C.

Yelp
Great view Great cocktails Our bartender Lucia was very friendly and recommended us there buy one get one free giant drinks. Well deff come back again

Lou I.

Yelp
Great meal, service was excellent, we had spaghetti & meatballs and shrimp scampi both were excellent. We shared a piece of cheesecake for dessert to finish.

Tanya P.

Yelp
This place is a scam !! I'm sure the " good reviews" are written by them They charged me 16$ for one shot of Tito's ! Kids meals are 14-18 dollars and u get charged for any side another 5$ Mandatory tip ? No other place does this unless u have minimum 6 people On top of it I just asked at the end to make sure it wasn't a mistake to charge me 64$ for 2 double Tito's and he acted like a complete asshole to me !

Adrian DJ Dubz W.

Yelp
Walked the strip to find this beauty. Perfect outside warm weather with a beach view. Can't ask for anything more. The servers were very nice and attentive. Loved all the food recommendations. I ordered the wings and the lamb skewers. I did have to send my skewers back as I ordered them medium rare and they came well done. When they came back they were medium well, but I was so hungry from waiting that I ate them. The mash potatoes weren't my favorite they lacked flavor but the lamb had an amazing rub that erupted on every bite. I was well pleased with how thick and tender they were. Super flavorful. If you like wings crispy, then the wing are for you. They are baked then flash fried. So they are cooked twice. If you like them naked and no sauce get the dry rub. They carry the most flavor.

Tina S.

Yelp
Automatic gratuity for 3 people, really crappy service and poor execution of food. Eggs Benedict were hard boiled and served on dry bread.

Jude M.

Yelp
Tourist trap!! Scam!! Our waiter was nice and vibes were fine. 2 for 1 drinks are not a deal and food just isn't worth the price with the service fee... which they are deceptive about with putting in very small writing and automatically adding... and my sister got sick on the beach after we ate here

Leonna P.

Yelp
SAM IS THE BEST SERVER MUST GO SEE HIM such a fun vibe place great music and atmosphere the view of the ocean is beautiful

Doug W.

Yelp
Really great food and service. So why one star you might wonder? Unfortunately like other restaurants here they add 18% disguised as a service fee, which is really just a mandatory tip automatically added to the bill. The thing is, because it's disguised when you go to pay the bill and don't realize you've already been charged a tip, you add on another tip, part of which is a tip on the tip which is double dipping at its worst. Shameless greed!

Rubab K.

Yelp
service was good however wasn't a huge fan of their smoked salmon Benedict, i wish it was a bit more juicy. i ordered the pins colada as well, but wish it was a bit more flavorful. its a good restaurant to check out! i just wanted some brunch on the beach and i got that but again wish the food was more flavorful! the ambiance made up for it!

Jay L.

Yelp
Overall, the food was probably the worst I've experienced in a while: most dishes were bland, tough, or cold. The filet mignon steak for $55 was extremely tough, overcooked and flavorless. Cesar salad with chicken, the dressing was tasty, but the chicken was tough, dry and also overcooked. The quality of the meat was low for nearly every dish - not Prime or even Select cuts and for the price it was very disappointing. Calamari was tough and poorly seasoned, onion rings had far too much breading where you couldn't tell you were eating an onion and had no flavor. The drinks are also poorly constructed - overly sweet and lack of balance. We came with a large group of 14, the service was excellent despite our size and the wait staff was friendly. However, the food is problematic and I hope they find a way to improve.

Tabitha R.

Yelp
I am a picky eater in vacation bc I want the food to be delicious, in the atmosphere to be great as well. I always get nervous when eating out because you never know what you're going to get. We came here our first night of vacation and were so pleasantly surprised. adults had pasta, the stuffed raviolis were full and flavorful. The sauces were delicious and did not feel like they were out of a box. Both kids had large portions of spaghetti and pizza. We started the meal off with the meatballs, and the ricotta was super fresh and the perfect add-on to a dish that could easily be messed up, but this one was perfect. it started to rain about halfway through the meal as we were outside, the team jumped in to make sure that we didn't get wet, and the sides were pulled down. we loved it so much that when we came back from our cruise, we came back for a second meal, which was equally as delicious. we didn't have any alcohol this trip, but they do have a buy one get one free, which seemed like a good deal.

Ramla B.

Yelp
This is the perfect breakfast spot for a bite to eat with a view. We ordered mimosas because happy hour is all day long. The special is buy one, get one free. I paired mine with the eggs benadict and a side of French toast. The French toast was delicious but I would add fruit to mine next time and order that as the entree. The eggs benadict was good as well. I loved the Holland sauce. My son felt the waffles had too much powder sugar so I would recommend getting it on the side as the waffle is pretty sweet itself. Also, know the waffle is more cake like and not big and fluffy. We had a very attentive server and the service was incredible. I would recommend for families, couples, or even big events.

Lisa C.

Yelp
-1. Over priced food, terrible waiter and my filet was fatty! My worst dining experience. Should get my money back

Carly L.

Yelp
Marcell took care of us while we were on vacation in Fort Lauderdale. The service was super attentive to us and gave great recommendations. We ordered a good amount of seafood and it all tasted VERY fresh. Mussels can sometimes be hit or miss but theirs were delectable and so tasty. The yellowfin tuna salad was perfectly seared and just the right amount/portion you expect for a salad. We also got a dozen oysters *chefs kiss* and split a Del Mar burger with an extra fried egg on top. Honestly, it all tasted incredible! Plus, the two for one giant drinks enticed us to come in and they were a great balance of alcohol and juice! Please give this place a try and ask for Marcell to take care of you! He was excellent.

Jack H.

Yelp
Great food, service and view of the ocean!!! Waitress was awesome snd the food was delicious. Very affordable for the locatio

Sheel S.

Yelp
My family and I were walking down and were drawn to the vibes of this place which were 4/5. The music and lights and the outdoor seating with the breeze was so nice! However, service was bad. It was so hard to track down a server and our order was messed up a few times. Here is what we got: 1. Caprese Bruschetta which was a 4/5. I would've liked it a lot better if it didn't have too much of balsamic vinegar. 2. Onion ring tower that had a good presentation with the tower, however, not nearly enough onion rings for the price and the taste was pretty mid. Server forgot to bring sauces with it. 3. Vegetarian burger was pretty good but had no sauce inside Just the patty and the veggies. 4. Vegetable pizza we ordered and asked for olives instead of mushrooms and they brought it without olives saying they didn't have it. Could've asked what else we wanted but they didn't :// asked for basil and they said they had run out. 5. Drinks: Cucumber cooler and green tea mule were a solid 1/5. Very badly mixed and just poor taste. Will say their virgin pina colada were yummy though! Overall I would not go here again because service was disappointing, they forgot a few of our items, and added items in our cheque that we did not get. Also, they charge about $18 for a cake if it's someone's birthday. Food was mid, nothing superb enough to come back to. Vibes were the only thing that it had going unfortunately.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
I went to this place Saturday 03/16/24 and I'm only giving this place 3 stars because the 2 for 1 drinks were good and customer service was great . The host was nice and our server Radim (I hope I'm getting his name right) was amazing . He was sweet , very helpful and knew how to multitask having different tables to service. Well when it came to our food they were not good at all . No flavor , not even salt . So bland. My spaghetti and meat balls and my friend's chicken wings . How do you mess up on chicken wings? Wow . The price is definitely not worth it . Would not recommend eating here . Just get drinks and eat elsewhere . Don't forget the high gratuity added .

Raymond J.

Yelp
Great place on the beach walk, great breakfast/brunch menu with excellent Bloody Mary's. Excellent lobster Benny. Incredible service!! I'd come back here for sure. Incredible views. I'm my opinion eggs cooked perfectly and not just your typical touristy breakfast place.

Monica A.

Yelp
walking around the beach looking for jumbo drinks and good food? Cafe Del Mar has your covered! Jumbo piña coladas. Surf & Turf- Filet Mignon Grilled To Perfection, Lobster Tail, Drawn Butter, Served with Light Mixed Veggies. Rigatoni Alla Vodka- Diced Fresh Tomatoes, Pancetta, Pink Vodka Sauce. I wish they had better music! It's the missing touch.

Dave M.

Yelp
Dropped in for breakfast. Food and service were great! Best deal on the beach. Thick slice of fresh baked bread added bonus!

Serina A.

Yelp
Our server was wonderful and the food was fantastic! A great stop by the beach, buy one get one huge margaritas! The food was fresh and tasteful- Loved it. Recommendations: - MELON AND SHRIMP SALAD (delicious) - CALAMARI - COCONUT SHRIMP Thank you for a wonderful lunch on the beach! You guys are great!

Linda G.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times and enjoyed each visit. You can't beat the location, as it's right across from the beach. Today hubby and I enjoyed our brunch. We had a delicious veggie omelette and a feta with spinach omelette. The coffee was fresh brewed and piping hot. Our waiter Chad was very attentive and personable. He even offered us coffee in to-go cups when we were ready to leave. We've also enjoyed their daily special 2 for 1 giant drinks in the evening. The pizza was really good too.

Amy E.

Yelp
We sat at the bar on a Monday night - and all appetizers were half price at the bar. Oh 'Em Gee. The Calamari Del Mar was incredible. So tender, and the spicy marinara had just the right hint of heat. We also had the Mussels alla Calabrese, which also had a yummy, spicy tomato sauce. We will definitely be back. Maybe next time we will sit out front, facing the beautiful beach.

Tom G.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast. Great upgrade to bar can't wait to try at night. Reasonably priced and perfect portions

Tina C.

Yelp
Food was good but not great. Definitely overpriced for what you get. Love the atmosphere and live entertainment. Don't fall for the buy one get one drinks, definitely not worth the $34.

Martin M.

Yelp
I was part of a very large group dining and the wait staff was surprisingly attentive. Every course flowed smoothly. The drinks were decent for a beach bar and the food was top notch. I had the Pesca Della Casa with grouper and it was scrape-the-plate-clean delicious. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great place to eat on the beach.

Hal H.

Yelp
Avoid this place. We were offered a happy hour deal of 2 for 1. The 2-1 drinks were $38. Gratuity was added to the check. I inquired about this because it seems like a standard practice here in Florida. He said yes it was included but it was only 15%. You could imagine my surprise when it turned out to be 28%.

Caroline V.

Yelp
The service was great and the live music was so much fun to listen! The food was fresh and very tasty!

B D.

Yelp
Tourist trap Dry lobster. Medíocre pasta. Appetizer prices seem reasonable. Overpriced market values. Gratuity included for party of 3?

Darlene S.

Yelp
We were looking for a good breakfast on the beach and the Marriott recommended Cafe Del Mar. You can't beat the view of the turquoise ocean and white sand and a little of the Waikiki beach vibe. The breakfast was good but not outstanding. The French toast was thick but not hot. The meat lovers omelette was tasty but heavy on the cheese. I was expecting 4 slices of bacon for a side but to my surprise it came in a bowl that the three of us could share. You can't beat the two for one drinks and the ambiance.

Dennis B.

Yelp
Hostess was a little short with us but after we were seated the waiter was outstanding. I don't remember his name but he is from the Czech Republic. We started with the bruschetta which was good, he could have used a little more cheese though. For dinner we had the ravioli, shrimp scampi, and grouper. Everything was outstanding and full of flavor. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and brownie. Both were equally good.

Filip P.

Yelp
Cafe Del Mar: Cozy atmosphere, delicious cuisine, unforgettable experience. Service 10/10.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Do not have breakfast here. My waffle was so hard it had to be sawed with the knife in order to cut a piece. It had no taste. It appears that the waffles are cooked in advance and then warmed when they receive an order for them. My husband's omelet was dried out and portions of meat in it were very hard. We could see the eggs benedict at another table and the egg appeared to be dried out, not at all runny.

Joe F.

Yelp
Don't know why this place gets low marks from people. Staff was super friendly and attentive, the food was fab, and it's right on the beach. I ordered a Stromboli, expecting the typical crappy Florida pizza product. What I got was a perfect fresh, light, and crusty dough filled with crisp vegetables, and rich, tasty Mozzarella, along with pepperoni, meatballs, and sausage. It was huge, at that, but I finished it because it was so light and fresh. Pattie ordered a very generous amount of tasty, plump Mussels Marinara. I would have liked a glug of olive oil over the top, but again...delicious. we ordered a few cocktails. I got 20% off. Don't know why, but it's a thing. You can't beat the location, with a dude playing righteous classical guitar to boot. It was a great Wednesday evening. Come on people....give these folks some love and go there. We loved it.

Jesy T.

Yelp
Breakfast here was decent; nothing out of the norm that I couldn't make at home! The best part were the 2 x 1 mega cups at about $30 something. I got the sex on the beach and it was refreshing and delicious. The size was ginormous, but it added to the fun. I did the fresh eggs breakfast, can't go wrong with basics; the bread I believe is made in house because it was definitely fresh! I wasn't a fan of the banana pancakes, the batter wasn't to my expectations and maybe was a little too familiar to something I'd make at home! But overall staff was friendly and wait time wasn't too hectic on a Saturday for Labor Day!
