Café des Banques

"In the banking district, this chic and contemporary bistro is the latest venture for Yoann Caloué. Here, the MICHELIN-starred chef serves confident modern cuisine, made with high-quality fresh ingredients to exacting standards. The desserts are also meticulously prepared, cf. his lemon tart, basil sorbet and limoncello sabayon. Those curious to see the chefs at work can sit at the counter facing the kitchen. Business lunch menu (without options). A very appealing restaurant." - Michelin Inspector

Very nice place with an open kitchen. We had the 7 course tasting experience that was delivered with great service and information around the cooking process. Definitely worth a visit for a special dinner.

A beautiful and elegant restaurant with outstanding food and service. It was the best diner I’ve had in a really long time. Special thanks to the service team, they were so caring, welcoming and at some point even theatrical, overall a marvelous experience.

We came here based on a local friend’s recommendation… he had mentioned that this restaurant was one of his new favorites and that the Chef had trained at Cirrus in Healdsburg, so we had to give it a try! We were seated at the Chef’s table which was fantastic… to watch the cooks in action and see them meticulously put every dish together was entertaining. The amazing feat here is how quiet the kitchen operates; the staff work with such effortless pace and know what their assignments are that there’s just not a lot of noise being generated from the kitchen. I can’t remember every dish that was served, but I can remember every flavor offered! We ordered the 4-course Discovery Tasting experience and every dish served was out of this world! Service was next level here as well! Although this is high end dining there was nothing pretentious or stuffy about this place. It felt casual, but special…

This review is long overdue. My fiancé and I went here on our last night of a 2 week trip to Switzerland in May. We went to a total of 6 restaurants that were on the Michelin guide, ones with actual stars and ones that are just mentioned, and this was by far the best meal we had the entire trip. Not only is the food amazing but the service is spectacular as well. I’d be shocked if they didn’t earn an actual star very soon. We will definitely go out of our way to dine here again the next time we are in Switzerland.

Extraordinary! The service and quality from the best I’ve tried in my 4 years in Geneva! The meat before dessert was cooked to perfection, it’s going to be very hard to forget. The tuna carpaccio was also exquisite.

Very elegant venue in a very elegant neighborhood On two floors you can enjoy delicious specialities from french inspiration with sometimes a surprising Japanese touch : Example is the oxtail gyoza (very well balanced) Menu is compact but complete. Excellent choice of wines. Service is welcoming and friendly.

My recent visit to Café de Banque was an extraordinary culinary experience. The food was simply fantastic, and it was evident that a great deal of attention had been paid to the precise design of each dish. The vivid contrast of colors on every plate enticed me to savor each bite slowly and appreciate the meal, which was truly deserving of attention. Throughout the three courses, the combination of smooth, hard, and intermediate textures showcased the chef's expertise. The complimentary truffle aperitif was a delightful start, and the 'amusée des bouch' with its strong pistachio aroma and taste was intriguing. I found the pickled beet roots in the "entrée" particularly interesting, as they paired exquisitely with the cold potato and warm pieces of veal. The main course, featuring fish served with black rice, stood out for its remarkable texture—the rice was perfectly cooked, striking a balance between firmness and softness, complementing the creamy buttery notes flawlessly. Each dish seemed to tell a story, a testament to the chef's artistry and attention to detail. The dessert, consisting of yogurt ice cream and apple, offered a harmonious blend of flavors without being overly sweet. The wine selection, especially the Chasselas and Côtes du Rhône, paired excellently with the meal and were reasonably priced. The service was exemplary, fulfilling every need with grace. I deeply appreciated the young chef's dedication not only to culinary excellence but also to the art of presenting each dish as a story waiting to be discovered. After yesterday's experience, Café de Banque has secured a spot in my list of go-to places. Whether for a leisurely meal or a business lunch, its combination of exquisite flavors, meticulous design, and top-notch service makes it an outstanding choice in the culinary landscape.

Been here for a business dinner. Really good food, presentation and service. The guys are pretty keen to explain what is going on with the menu and present each and every dish that comes to the table. They are quite buzzy which is overall nice to see. The place was a bit quiet at the beginning but slowly filled up. I see fit for a nice romantic dinner as well as a family night out. Recommended.

Yelp
One of the best tasting meals of my life, accentuated by my seat, which was adjacent to the open kitchen and plating area. Not one dish on the seven course tasting menu disappointed. If you are a foodie, you must come here when you are in Geneva.

Yelp
The food was good. The waiter was very nice so we tipped him. Unfortunately we read the bill next day. We found out him over charged us $42. Be careful when you pay.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this coffee shop looking for a place to sit down with my computer. Ordered a cappuccino and apple butter cake and voilà! Delicious! They take their desserts seriously, making everything in house. Gorgeous presentation, really nice staff and cozy modern atmosphere, really enjoyed it, highly recommend!

Yelp
A fine dining restaurant with very sleek decor and professional service. I enjoyed my dishes (tuna tartare and apple tart) which were tasty but wasn't particularly impressed or blown away by them. The waiter was very attentive and the ambience is sophisticated yet not snooty. After your meal they put these huge jars of candy on your table which I find an interesting yet odd touch I would definitely like to come try some of the other dishes they have one day.

Yelp
We were recommended Cafe des Banques by a colleague who really knows the Geneva restaurant scene - and it did not disappoint. The decor is superb and its clear that they are out to impress - there's a glass panel in the restaurant wall for example to see into the kitchen. I started with the special - raw steak with a red onion marmalade which was decorative but tasted superb. Just before my bouche had been amused by an asparagus jelly confection which was as tasty and it was unusual. For my main course I had scallops with risotto - the only thing I could criticise as the rice had an ambrosia air to it although the scallops were perfection. They have an excellent wine list and the service is good too - just the risotto stopped it being the perfect meal out.

Yelp
On balance, this is pretty good, close to very good restaurant - I'm going to round up my 3.5 stars to a 4. The pluses certainly include the food and a pretty good wine selection with a nice bright location. My quibbles are the fairly thin menu and a poor choice of beers. I should talk more about the food, my foie gras was fabulous, the fish was quite good with seasonal ingredients [lots of beetroot on this visit]. My neighbour's seared tuna was supposed to be amazing and my other neighbour's steak was very good. So, probably 3.5 stars if I was honest but you can make your own choice on the importance of food vs beer.
