Cafe El Portal

This is a very small homestyle place that's pretty easy to walk past because it's down a short flight of stairs from the sidewalk. We had the shrimp tacos and was very pleased with the size of the shrimp and the kick of the sauce. The avacado on top added a nice creamy texture to the dish as well. Each order of tacos comes with 3 tacos. We also ordered chips. Together it made for a good, casual lunch.

I have never written a negative review before but this place really did it. ordered through seamless some carnitas tacos and a tortilla soup and got the meat just thrown into a plastic bowl with the soft tortillas on top as for the soup it was a weird super spicy broth with a ton of mushy tortillas and some rotten avocados to top it all off. I wish I could upload a picture of this disaster ... Won't be ordering from this place again.

So good to finally find an authentic mexican place¡ i felt in mexico (I am mexican) and the flavors and cooking was real, original, tasty in an tipical mexican little spot with every day mexicans food. Not gourmet or complicated, but original and simple. I will for sure go back every time my cravings wake up.

Excellent ceviche (though only on Thursday - Sat) Cute little place with really great food and pitchers of maragarita! Great little find.

Feels like homemade food! get Chiles rellenos , enchiladas de mole rojo yummy!
