Cafe Elysa

This morning's coffee date landed at Cafe Elysa. Elysa serves a bold cup of coffee with tasty treats. They only offer outdoor seating, which allows the patrons to enjoy Carlsbad weather. Most of the outdoor seating is covered. I found myself savouring coffee by the fire pit. The fire and the music added to the peaceful ambience of Elysa, where I reflected on life. With Elysa located near the road, we experienced some traffic sounds. Next time you are near Carlsbad Village take a moment to enjoy Cafe Elysa. I look forward to another cup of coffee at Elysa

Always a great place to bring friends for breakfast or coffee . Located next to the beach you can’t go wrong with their menu. Between the mouth watering quiches, flavorful Benedict’s and fluffy pancakes you’ll walk away stuffed and glad you came .

We stopped by for breakfast. We had the ham and spinach quiche, an oat latte, and a lavender honey latte. The portion size is crazy big for the quiches, and the fruits are fresh. The quiches were not my favorite. The services were excellent. The latte came quickly. The quiches came warm and cheesy.

Café Elysa in Carlsband is a nice and cozy gem. I loved the rich Latte, the eggs and the homemade bakery, which was perfectly sweet. The friendly staff made my visit even better, very good service. A great spot for a relaxing day if you are in the area.

I loved our visit here. The people were incredibly nice. The food was delicious and the Atmosphere was great. We loved it so much, we came back the next morning with an equally great experience. I can usually make it through any meal, but "The Big Plate" was a challenge even for me. Absolutely delicious and great staff here.

It is hard to beat the outdoor seating area of this coffee shop right across from the oceanfront. There are cozy fire pits to enjoy in the morning. The coffee is strong and prepared with flourish. I particularly liked their fresh pastries.

This place has been around for a long time and my wife and I enjoy having the breakfast burrito and all kind of great pastries! The coffees excellent as well and the service is good people are friendly. Right in the heart of Carlsbad village.

I used to think this place was great but the food was terrible this weekend. The driest crepes I’ve ever been served, like they were missing the egg entirely. $46 for 2 crepes and 2 regular coffees which I don’t mind if it’s good. Less expensive and far better quality two blocks away at the French Corner.

Great spot in the heart of Carlsbad beach zone. Pro tip: Go with the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich on the French baguette. You're welcome.

Chill vibes and probably the most affordable place to grab pastries, coffee, breakfast, and sandwiches in the area. It is still a bit pricey. Food tasted good and the portion sizes were good. Wish they gave free refills for coffee. I love their sister location in Oside. Def would come back and eat again if I was in the area. Service was very friendly and quick.

Love love love. This is a spot me and my grandma hit at least monthly. It's tasty and such a great location. Although it absolutely sucks to find parking and the line can be super long, it's worth it for the ambiance and food. I personally love the quiches, they're soo yummy!

Nice breakfast and lunch place located not far from the main Carlsbad arch and street sign. The lady working behind the counter was very nice and friendly. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, then she asked me if I wanted it on a baguette, white, sourdough, wrap, etc... I asked for a toasted baguette....she said, sure. A bit later when my sandwich was brought up to the table, the bread was not a baguette but a sub type bread. I did not say anything, but it was not a French baguette...that was the only disappointment. The filling itself was very tasty. Overall a nice place for a light meal.

Came here on recommendation of our family member who has been coming here for years! Pumpkin spiced chai (sweet) Strawberry smoothie Almond croissant Chocolate croissants (looks more bread-like and less like a croissant, but has that nice buttery taste) Coconut custard stuffed French toast- so good I took a bite before taking a pic! Various breakfast platters Everything we had was delicious and the service was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. The outdoor patio is much bigger than other pictures led me to believe so I was glad to have easily found tables for our large party. They are quick to clean the tables so I never saw anyone waiting even though it was a beautiful sunny weekend morning. They have a private parking lot, but it's small. However, plenty of street parking around and there's a public parking lot about one small block away.

Yelpers come through again! I had a business meeting in Oceanside and stayed in Carlsbad overnight. Since hotel coffee is simply not for me I turned to Yelp and found Cafe Elysa. It was steps from my hotel. Great place to get coffee, and to sit down and enjoy it. It smells amazing inside with so many pastries to choose from. I had a chocolate almond croissant that was so delicious with a perfect coffee. Friendly smiling people to help you get just what you want. Highly recommended by me!

This is mainly for their amazing pastries! Not only are the huge and beautiful to look at but the taste is wonderful!! Their price is reasonable compared to many other coffee shops or cafes around. I got the Nutella croissant and it was heaven! Will be frequenting more for sure!!!

Cafe Elysa, driving south for 4 hours, nice stop for breakfast. Friendly service, but definitely felt like we were known visitors. But of course we asked lots of questions and took our time ordering. There is only outside seating and it was a bit chilly (for a guy visiting from Texas). Thee was a nice fire we stayed warm by. The coffee selection was small, but the Milky Way was amazing. I would stop again if ever in the area!

FINALLY! That's what I thought when I finally went to Cafe Elysa for breakfast. I've been living in this neighborhood for more than 5 years and passing it on my way to the Village Fair. It was finally time for me to try this petit cafe spot and stop procrastinating. I'm glad I finally did! They have outdoor dining which always creates a zen experience for me...being out in nature. The service was pretty good. My breakfast was so lovely and tasty. I wonder why it took me so long. But now, I can finally say I went to Cafe Elysa and strongly recommend it. :-)

$16 breakfast sandwich & water.... Nothing spectacular, just an overpriced sandwich with bread-eggs-cheese-avocado. I know inflation but it wasn't worth it

Hubby and I split the Black Forest, mushroom and Swiss cheese omelette with fruit. Abundant portions and so delicious! Tasted each separate component and was so satisfied. Came with fresh watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew melons, strawberries, blackberries and banana. Service at counter was good and no split charge for us to share - definitely will be back!

Great local vibe with good value for really good variety of food and close to the beach. I like this place than most the chain restaurants that overcharge for mediocre food. The staff is always nice and they have nice outdoor seating that feels private.

We're here pretty much every Saturday morning after our coast walk. The best lavender latte I've ever had is from here, and they have plenty of alternative milk options. Always packed seating, dog friendly, good breakfast options with a range of portions. My favorite is the strawberry pancakes, love that they have an option without bananas. Parking is limited, sometimes you can time it and park down the street at the railroad public parking lot and walk up. Good for groups, all outdoor seating, great service, it's a popular place so anticipate pretty constant crowds.

Order at the counter, service at the table. A bustling outdoor cafe with a huge breakfast menu. The staff is hard working and friendly and the food is delicious! Don't wait an hour to get seated at any of the other touristy spots. This friendly local cafe is the best around!

Stopped by on a Tuesday around 10 am, I had a banana french toast and an iced caramel macchiato. Quick and friendly service. Lots of people, but seating were also available.

Omggggggggg! Was recommended to come here by an employee at our hotel stating this is his favorite breakfast place and I can totally understand why! The menu is quite broad and regardless if you want breakfast or lunch food they have something that'll satisfy everyone! The girls at the counter are excellent, they're so sweet and patience and they were extremely hospitable and showed us where to go locally and we loved how thorough they were with giving us the ins and outs of the town. Food was superb and seating options outside were great. Awesome food and awesome service, definitely a must go when in Carlsbad!

The coffee is delicious! The staff was friendly and efficient. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was fine, nothing amazing here, the sausage egg and cheese sandwich was a little better, but I thought everything was just fine. The croissant they used on the sandwich was crispy and tasty, I probably should have just ordered a croissant rather than a sandwich. Overall I think this is a great place for a patio brunch and some people watching. The food isn't bad and the staff is good. I'm sure thy have some better items on the menu that I'll need to discover.

The sausage egg and cheese on a croissant is my new favorite breakfast sandwich, and I will spend the rest of my life trying to find one that matches it. Also, get the hashbrowns. Just treat yourself and do it. You'll be very happy.

We travel here a couple times a year and were looking for a new restaurant. Stumbled upon this and fell in love. Sierra helped us each time (we ended up coming 3 times in a week) and was sooooo helpful and sweet. The patio seating was nice and the food and coffee was amazing.

Wanted to like this place based on the reviews. Employees are very courteous. Ordered decaf coffee ( no flavor ) veggie omelet ( not bad ) side of salsa ( no flavor) and a cream cheese basil croissant ( croissant was hard on the ends) . Did not taste fresh. No indoor seating. Outside dining area could use some sweeping.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!! Outdoor seeing, I'd you stand around long enough someone will get up. It did take an hour for 2 avocado toast to come out but it was worth the wait.

The BEST breakfast place!!! We were on vacation for a week in Carlsbad and we ate here every single morning, it was that good. Can't speak for lunch because we didn't have any, but I'm sure it's incredible. Awesome service and awesome food, what more could you want!?

Rude staff. If you don't want to work on Christmas. Keep your business closed otherwise it kills your reputation by having people that don't want to work. The main cashier is the worst. Good luck and not worth stopping by

Super cute place near the beach. The croissant breakfast sandwich was delicious. Waffle was ok. Vanilla lattes were ok. Definitely coming back for the yummy croissant breakfast. I got the bacon, egg and cheese.

This place has to be one of my favorite places for Lattes!!!! Small, cute, older but service and taste are most definitely a 5!!!!!!

I love this spot. It's chill with yummy drinks. You can see the ocean in certain spots. The food is pretty standard, but good.

Food was good and service as well. Food came out pretty quick considering we were a party of 10. The chocolate chip muffin was delicious. My bacon egg and cheese croissant as well! Parking was only downside.

My fav in town. I love a good French bakery and Elysa's goods are amazing. Fresh every day. And the omelettes, a staple. They also have delicious French roast coffee - what a treat. Thanks - you're the best!

Hidden secret, locals only...shhh! Just kidding- its a mix of local long time fans and new tourists just off the beach. Dog friendly, great menu excellent coffee plus bakery treats, it closes at 2. You want great food friendly hard working service and a covered patio with gas fired fireplaces in brick circles and garden pots and succulents all around? Dont miss Cafe Elyse!

This place offers a great breakfast and great coffee. The service was good. We will be back next time we vacation in Carlsbad.

There were good food, but very unprofessional staff. Making terrible noises by pushing stock of plastic chairs, cleaning bathrooms and sweeping while we all was still eating. Very unpleasant experience.

Came here for breakfast on a Wednesday. We ordered inside and then sat down at our table outside on the dog friendly patio. I got the avocado toast, it came with seeds on it and I cannot have seeds so I scrapped them off. I don't remember seeing that seeds were included on the toast when I saw it on the menu. The toast was alright, nothing special that's for sure. My boyfriend got the spicy breakfast sandwich and he said he loved it. All of the seats are outside, some with an ocean view. There are some fire pits as well. Overall a good place for a quick, simple breakfast. Their coffee is good too!

Great place for a simple breakfast. You order at the counter and they will bring out your food. Service is awesome and the outside patio dining is very relaxing. They even allow pets on in the outside patio.

Amazing cafe/restaurant located just off the Carlsbad beach. The food is amazing, especially the fruit tarts and almond croissants! The service is also consistently welcoming, making this place a must visit for my family every time we are in the area.

I always drive past this spot, but I decided to give it a try today when catching up with an old friend! I got lucky with street parking right in front of the cafe, but there are free lots and other street parking within a 10 minute walk. The cafe is less than a five minute walk to beach, and with outdoor seating, its a perfect place to take in brunch with sunshine. Staff were super friendly as well and food came out quite fast. I got the blended matcha and avocado toast. The matca was a bit too icy and sweet for my tasts-- I usually like a stronger matcha flavor-- but it was still a refeshing treat with my meal. However, I loved the avocado toast. The sourdough was topped with avocado and fresh tomatos and feta, drizzled with a balsamic dressing. It was the perfect amount of tangy and savory, and it left me feeling decently full. It's a very cute and reasonably priced cafe, and its in a perfect location to walk around and enjoy the rest of Carlsbad Village.

The breakfast place my husband had picked was closed today (Monday). So we drove into Carlsbad Village and found Elysa's. It was perfect. It is all outdoor seating, right across from the State Beach. We found a table by the fire pit. You place your order and pay inside, and tgey bring the food orders out. My husband ordered the Hwy 101 omelette, and I had a spinach, egg, & cheese breakfast sandwich. There are beautiful flowers along the sidewalk, and plenty of opportunities for people-watching. So we had a great breakfast.

Finally had one their pastries after always eating a breakfast croissant, and my husband always goes for the burrito - the pastries are divine especially the lemon cheese with blueberries- a melt in your mouth experience!!! They never disappoint! Lattes, dirty chai's and brewed and iced coffee's are always the BEST in town!!!

we were in town and looking for some breakfast, this place seemed yummy! the service was nice and quick! the spot is kind of small but we were able to get two tables next to us for our party of 10. I got the yogurt parfait which was perfect. it's a pretty big bowl and all the fruit was fresh! I also tried the sausage croissant sandwich. also pretty yummy. and the pastries were scrumptious! will return when im town

Finally tried this cafe for breakfast. Definitely has a decent breakfast sandwich and a good coffee. Only has outdoor seating so bring a sweater. Only 2 fire pits that make it awkward to eat at. Overall. Good experience. I recommend if you're want just quick bite or it's a nice day out to sit and enjoy a coffee

Very nice patio with ample seating and relaxed atmosphere. We always like to come here after a short walk along the beach for coffee and breakfast pastries. I love their almond croissant while my husband always gets a scone. We have ordered breakfast entrees and all are generous portions with fresh ingredients. Also love their fluffy pancakes. While the lines could be long, they do move fast.
