The 23 Best Restaurants in Amsterdam, the Netherlands | Eater

"This newish wine bar invites customers in for a drink, then convinces them to stay a while with comfy seats, taper candles, and charming second-hand tableware. The well-executed menu of luxurious snacks — think chicken liver parfaits, mackerel rillettes, and fried artichokes — helps too, as do the individual servings of bitterballen, cheese sticks, and vlammetjes (mini spicy spring rolls), blessings for the solo drinker normally forced to order six or 10. Vibe check: The crowd skews towards groups of middle-aged Dutch women, but I’ve also seen grandfathers and grandchildren and at least one unnecessarily large dog, so really, anything goes." - Katharine Khamhaengwong

Lovely neighbourhood cafe in the Jordaan area. Went here on a Saturday and had a seated terrace to enjoy the food. Opted for the artichoke, mackerel, fresh sourdough baguette, and cilbir. Everything was so tasty - great sharing options! Would recommend reserving a table in advance. Service was also relatively quick.

Café Enté in Amsterdam is a hidden gem—intimate, cozy, and full of charm. The food was outstanding, thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients. A perfect spot for a relaxed, memorable meal.

We live locally and Ente is hands down our new favourite spot in Amsterdam! My boyfriend and I go every week - it’s that good! Wine is divine and so is the food, very well priced and such a gorgeous spot that is not overly packed with people. Absolutely highly recommend

Amazing addition to the Jordaan which is owned and run by two locals. Short but diverse menu, which is suitable for casual drinks and bites / borrel or elevated dining. The menu blends French methods and dishes with local Dutch ingredients and a small number of essential Dutch tastes, like potato krokets and a borrel plate. Check out our photos; we’re looking forward to returning soon!

I’ve been here 3 times this week. It’s a lovely place with a great cozy vibe to it. It has plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating. The drinks menu is full with options - wine, cocktails, etc. The food menu is small but really high quality. Overall, just a great place to hang out and have a good drink and snacks.

This was a pleasant surprise! Didn’t know anything about it other than it was magnetically attracting me as I was riding by. I was obligated to stop by. The Saturday market was on full display from the outdoor seats (15 or so) small ‘bite’ menu of bistro food. I had the mackerel rilette €9 a glass of rioja blanco €6.50 and Grenache from Rhône €9. The food that I spied looked delicious as well. They had a good selection of wines by the glass and a solid list of bottles. Even though it’s not in my neighborhood, I will find my way back. That’s all for now!

Horeca has hit a new low in trendy spots with Café Ente. From the service to the food, this restaurant is a glaring disappointment that exemplifies the trend of prioritizing Instagramability over genuine experience. First, there’s the obnoxious and passive staff, who clearly believe they’re too good for a service role. Their attitude sets the tone for an underwhelming visit. Second, the food—while decent in quality—seems to focus more on its photographic appeal than on flavor. With a menu that avoids an overwhelming number of options, one would expect the kitchen to delve deeply into the nuances of flavor and aim for culinary excellence. Unfortunately, this is not the case at Ente. Take the tartare, for instance—it’s essentially a fresh slab of meat, served with little thought or depth of flavor. And then there’s the bread—oh, the bread! In the European and Judeo-Christian tradition, bread holds a sacred place on the table. Yet, at Café Ente, they dare to serve less than a quarter of a mediocre baguette for a whopping 5 euros. It’s both a disappointment and a shame.
