Taco Electrico to Open in Union Square With Tulum-Inspired Decor - Eater NY

"After 42 years in Greenwich Village, Spanish restaurant Cafe Español has shuttered. Notes on the door at 172 Bleecker St. and on the website give thanks to customers. During its tenure, Cafe Español served up Spanish classics like paella, grilled seafood and meat dishes, and crema catalana in a throwback, stucco-covered space." - Stefanie Tuder

Food is absolutely tasty. Service is fast and waiters/waitresses are very friendly and PROFESSIONAL. I love the scenery and even though it is a tight space you just love going there. You feel like your at home. They are entertaining and I been there many times. The food never changes but get BETTER.

I visited Cafe Espanol with a group of 6. We all had the most amazing meals and I love this place! I had the seafood Paella and it was off the hook great!! I wish I could visit once a week. I've posted photos. One in our party had a clam dish that was amazing. One had lamb chops - awesome! We had an octopus appetizer and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted!!

Love this place. Great food, fun bar and friendly people. The menu offers delicious tapas as well as many traditional Spanish entrees. The flexible menu also offers fish, steak, lamb delicious broiled half chicken and more. Try the flan or the warm moultan chocolate cake. Spent New Years Eve dancing the night away....so much fun.

The owner, Irene, made a point to walk around and chat with patrons. Loved her energy & passion. The staff showed a lot of teamwork and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Have a small outdoor seating area out front, but the highlight is the amazing space in the back.

Great authentic Spanish food. Great Sangria. Great service and great prices. We were so full when we left that the four of us fell asleep in the cab on the way back home to Brooklyn. The meal was like a Spanish Thanksgiving already.
