A Chile Road Trip on the I-25 from Las Cruces to Denver | Eater

"A small coffee shop on the edge of Santa Fe where huevos divorciados are Hispano-ized with Christmas chile in place of the usual salsas, blending Mexico City breakfast forms with local chiles." - Gustavo Arellano

How does this place have anything less than five stars? I guess some folks just live to destroy others... not me. The breakfast burrito should be called the breakfast lunch and dinner burrito. It is huge - and delicious! Get it Christmas style. The play of all of the flavors is just perfection. Honestly, this is probably the best breakfast I have enjoyed in my lifetime. I had it covered in cilantro as well and washed it down with their medium coffee... a perfect pair! Don't sleep on this place. One burrito and you'll be pondering a move to Santa Fe.

It’s not on the menu, but they can make an amazing vegan burrito if you ask! Got mine with red sauce and it came pretty quickly. I also got an iced oat milk latte that was great and big enough to share with another person!

Great little spot. High quality ingredients. Delicious food. Staff were friendly. Restaurant clean. Would recommend!

You can tell this place is popular before you even get inside. Cute and spacious inside. Warm greeting and patience from the gal running the register. She was kind enough to go through all of their flavors for lattes and was just delightful through our order. We got 2 breakfast burritos, one with red and the other with green Chile. Interesting how different these were from each other. The green is more fresh tasting and has a lot of peppers in it. The red was pretty good too, we ended up switching plates mid way through our burritos for variety. You have to get to about the halfway point to get more bacon and to get to the potato. Worth it, imo. We ordered a Mexican Mocha and Vanilla Latte and they were both delicious! This is definitely a "must try" spot if you're in the area.

Cafe Fina is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, providing top-notch service that truly enhances the dining experience. The food is nothing short of amazing, every dish is fresh, and beautifully prepared. Whether you're enjoying a seafood dish, pasta, or a delicious breakfast, the quality and attention to detail shine through. With outstanding food, the best service, and a warm atmosphere, Cafe Fina is a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

Google
INCREDIBLE!! I apologize for my half-eaten food picture but WOW! I had the pesto omelet, and it is hands-down the best omelet I've ever had. Service was lovely. I also love that they support local artists by having their art and other local products for sale.

Excellent, fresh and tasty food. The hash brown was a little bit greasy but the rest was wonderful. Very accommodating staff regarding my food sensitivity. They gave me sides of everything I could eat. Gluten free bread, vegan option. I didn’t know the hot chai was coming with milk so they kindly replaced it with almond milk with no extra charge. Really appreciated! The food came less than 5 min after ordering. Good food good people good business!

Google
Right off I-25 just southeast of Santa Fe. Opened promptly at 8am, and it was GOOD! Had simple breakfast with that cloudy, tasty apple juice. Ample portions, and service (they give you a numbered stand to display at your table and bring your order) was excellent. Fresh, fresh pastries. Next time we're going from Las Vegas to Albuquerque, we will definitely stop here again! That big coffee mug we just had to have! A bargain at $15.

Yelp
We drive through Santa Fe several times a year, and this is always our go-to destination for breakfast or lunch. Terrific, healthy dishes, scrumptious baked goods, and friendly staff. Located so conveniently and with ample parking.

Yelp
The food was good, pastries were great. Service was good and quick. Has a nice area for you to bring your dog to eat with you.

Yelp
Good place for healthy options good and large menu, they have a variety of salads and other dishes my favorite was the migas and the gluten free cookies ; the Staff was very nice and fast, we order a bunch of other things that were amazing, if you order chai be careful because is very strong. Outside they have a nice playground and tables but it was raining that day.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast spots in Santa Fe. Love the breakfast burritos! My partner and I usually split one, smothered, Christmas. Grateful this place is near my house. Grateful for the great cookies too which make.long drives easier accompanied by a cup of their great coffee. Wonderful service too. And of you have time, sit a spell and enjoy your meal.

Yelp
Great place to fuel up on your way to sightsee for the day or for a gathering with family/friends on a Sat/Sun! Super bright and sunny! Great menu options and the coffee is fab too! Served in a ceramic tall mug! Warm and friendly staff!

Stacy Anne S.

Yelp
Good food and very busy but friendly atmosphere with a first come first serve style for table availability. I had the ricotta pancakes which were great and the whipped cream was freshly made by them that day. However, I did get a side of bacon that was extremely fatty. My husband had the breakfast burrito and was very happy with his breakfast. They had several yummy looking pastries there as well!

Yelp
Went up to Lamy to visit my cousin and we met here for lunch. 5 of us sat down and ordered up. 2 breakfast burritos with green chile, one breakfast burrito with red chile and 2 green Chile cheeseburgers. Bam they were all on point and delivered expeditiously. If you're ever up in the neighborhood give Cafe Fina a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Nice cafe in the outskirts of Santa Fe. You order at the counter and then grab your own table. (You also serve your own coffee, etc -- just so consumers are aware). It's a cute space with a lovely menu and an array of delicious pastries. I ordered the Eldorado Omelet. The flavor was great. My one note is that some of the ingredients inside were clustered on one part of the omelet. In one bite you get guacamole. In another sour cream. It was hard to curate your own experience (your own bites). My dad ordered the breakfast burrito. This was also very good; a better balance of ingredients. All and all, a great little diner. Great service!

Yelp
A great gem in Santa Fe! Trying the locals' green chile dishes is the way to go in New Mexico. Visited this spot during the afternoon and it was fairly busy. The employees were more than accommodating for our party of 7 and got us seated right away. A great cafe spot for me has to include a cozy ambiance, great service, and amazing food. This place checked all those boxes for me!

Yelp
Yelp reviews do not lie! The breakfast burritos were out of this world! The red sauce made it!
google avatar

Shirley Y.

Yelp
Great place. Clean, neat, lots of seating options inside or on the patio. What I had issues with was choosing what I want to eat and drink. So many great options.... Everything looks so delicious.... Some gluten free options as well! I went for a decaf in their pretty mugs, and a strawberry cream cheese croissant. Yum! Great mid morning snack on a day on the motorcycle.

Yelp
What a fantastic lunch! Nice presentation, generous portions, great service! Fresh organic ingredients

Yelp
I only tried the ginger chai and picked up some dried chilis to go, but the bakery case was drool-worthy and the menu looked outstanding. If I ever get back to Santa Fe I'd love to try more of their offerings. Friendly service. There was a line to order but it moved relatively quickly. Dedicated parking lot.

Yelp
Husband and I took a trip to Santa Fe and this was our favorite place for breakfast! It has all the delicious things of breakfast like pastries and full on dishes. The service is friendly, you have to order before you sit but you have plenty of space and time to look over the menu, the coffee latte is so delicious and the art inside the restaurant looks amazing! We loved it and will definitely come back to eat all of the delicious foods!!
google avatar

Guy P.

Yelp
Grilled chicken sandwich is amazing!! The breakfast burrito is the absolute best in Santa Fe.

Yelp
Came here once and tried the breakfast burrito. Cafe Fina has been the standard for breakfast burritos ever since. 5 years later, I brought the whole fam to see if it was just my memory playing tricks on me or if it really was that good ... we almost went somewhere else because the parking lot looked packed. I'm glad we didn't because even though the lot looked full, there were plenty of open tables and it didn't feel crowded at all. And yes, the breakfast burrito is still just as good as I remember. I'm vegetarian now, so I swapped the bacon for black beans this time. My husband got the same and agreed it was amazing. He ate all of his and finished the half of mine that I couldn't eat. I was actually a little impressed because these things are enormous. My daughter got the cloud cakes and some fresh squeezed OJ. No one was disappointed. If you're in Santa Fe looking for breakfast, don't sleep on Cafe Fina!

Yelp
Homemade lemonade, a wide selection of food, darling ambience with indoor and outdoor seating. I'm in love! Definitely worth a stop if you're driving by. The service was friendly and accommodating. Chocolate. Chip. Cookies. My kids rated them 100 out of 10!

Antonio G.

Yelp
Food and service is great, fast and friendly service, staff is nice. Nice clean space, lots of sunlight.

Yelp
We arrived exactly at 8 AM when they opened and I ordered the ricotta and berry cloud cakes. My companion ordered the Migas plate. we both had coffee. Everything was delicious perfectly prepared and the service was excellent as well. We will be back.

Yelp
While visiting Santa Fe, my husband & I dined two times at Cafe Fina. Excellent lattes, divine homemade pies & other pastries. The egg dishes were okay - maybe a little overcooked (which is not how eggs should be). Relaxed, pleasant atmosphere with short ordering times.
google avatar

Tammi B.

Yelp
Great breakfast destination! Had the breakfast burrito and it was huge and so tasty. Also had a cappuccino, which was fancy in a big cup. Service was great. Everyone on the serving line was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was laid back and didn't feel rushed.
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
Great food, chill ambience, great service. We went out of our way in search of a place for smothered breakfast burritos and Cafe Fina did not disappoint! Wry friendly staff and great food. We'll be back!

Ann S.

Yelp
Best green chili cheeseburger - excellent beef and perfectly paired homemade bun! Everything they bake is delicious. The coffee cake is divine. Not too sweet.
google avatar

Sherry M.

Yelp
Hands down, this was the best breakfast I've ever had!! And the staff was so friendly. Great spot!

Yelp
12/10 food and amazing service. The place is clean and warm with natural light and wood throughout. Fine selection of teas and coffees. We enjoyed the Medium Brew & Earl Grey while devouring a delectable breakfast burrito and absolutely perfect fish sandwich. Their daily special was PERFECT, containing hominy (I forget the local name) and local pork! Would 100% come back & recommend to all travelers and locals.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Found this gem near our R.V. park while in Santa Fe. Parking lot was full every day when we drove by so we had to try it. I had the migas and my wife had quiche and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was also excellent and served in a warm mug.

Liz R.

Yelp
Loved it for breakfast. Ordered at the counter; they bring to your table. The staff was very friendly. The coffee was excellent.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
A great place to have coffee with friends or get a bite to eat. The cafe is very spacious with lots of good seating and natural light. I have a latte with a poppy seed muffin. Both were good, the muffin was a little dry but still tasty. I'm not sure if I could ask to have it warmed up but that would have made it better for me. A cute shop overall.

Charles M.

Yelp
Just had an amazing flavored Xmas burrito. Full of flavor in every bite. I'm born and raised in New Mexico. I've been eating spicy green chili all of my life. I'm 61. And both red and green were right on point. The people all very friendly. Staff and other customers. Definitely would be BACK.
google avatar

Tom P.

Yelp
Great place to have breakfast. Tasty coffee as well. Order at the counter, get a number and tell them if you're sitting inside or out. Nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
Awesome decor with clean modern paintings and road sign art: very hip setting and patio. Food is great and imaginative takes on NM food. I would have easily given this 5 stars but they took 35 minutes to deliver my meal and I had to hunt it down twice. Unacceptable.
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Great place for coffee, pastry's or breakfast. Opens at 8:00am and got there as the door opened. Order at the counter and got breakfast burrito and coffee. Was very filling and could only eat 1/2 of it and would recommend sharing unless your a big eater!

Mia O.

Yelp
It was my first time to have lunch here. The food was excellent! We will come back here definitely. The dessert looked great too.

Phyllis M.

Yelp
This place was great-attractive, clean, fun fresh bakery, very nice people, quick and food was amazing. We were a foursome, 2 had eggs, bacon and hashbrowns-eggs just the way they ordered and very fresh, they loved the smokey bacon and crispy potatoes (added on a huge lemon-poppyseed muffin), one had a great green chili burger with a beautiful huge side salad ( he would have liked a bit less dressing but it was good dressing). I had corn cakes with the squash/onion relish topping and a side of green chili, so so good! Three of us had lattes and thought they were first class plus prices pretty good for what we got!

Norma G.

Yelp
The service is great and food is phenomenal! I order the cranberry almond scone with the chocolate abuelita latte, absolutely delightful! Then for breakfast I order the migas. Delicious! I have eaten there three or four times and consistently the food is delicious, fresh, balanced, and not overly spicy, but just enough spice to enjoy the meal. What I like most is the restaurant is clean, and has an amazing patio. So if I want to take my German Shepherd, the patio is always available for pets.

Alisha P.

Yelp
The food was delicious! My husband and I got the breakfast burrito with green chili! My lips were stinging from the spice yet I kept eating more. The service was great! Everyone was so kind. I wish I would have taken a picture of our burritos but we ate them too quickly.

Robbie W.

Yelp
Excellent pastries and coffee, lovely cloud cakes, lots of people on Sunday morning, but still found a quiet table outdoors! We'd def do it again!!
google avatar

Nina G.

Yelp
I'm so thankful for Cafe Fina. I love that there is a solid place to eat near where I live. Everyone that works there is so friendly and helpful, the whole place has good energy. Thank you for having GF and non dairy options!

Malissa A.

Yelp
They absolutely best food! They make a pancake that they call cloud cakes that are fantastic. All the food can be served with red or green chili or without. Excellent restaurant! Excellent service!Excellent food!

Michael S.

Yelp
We went here several times. I recommend the Migas for breakfast or the chicken sandwich for lunch. The cookies were great also. Service was excellent. Nice open dog-friendly patio.
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Delicious. We had driven past Cafe Fina soo many times, the exterior is fairly simple and we really weren't expecting much. Now that we've been, we can't wait to go back. My husband and I shared the cloud cakes with homemade whipped cream, squash enchiladas , and a fresh squeezed apple and celery juice. Everything was tasty, and the portion size is large - could've shared with a third or fourth person. They only offer take-out right now, however there are picnic tables adjacent to the parking lot.
google avatar

Ana R.

Yelp
Actually 4 1/2 and only because they are outside of Santa Fe & the big portion of their sides. And if you're thinking "wait that's a plus" and yes sometimes it is but in this case I wanted more of my main course. My husband had the migas with black beans.

Rich L.

Yelp
Excellent delicious healthy organic food. Enjoyed the eldorado omelette and migas plate. Friendly service and comfortable relaxed ambiance. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Heather G.

Yelp
Great spot to soak in the sun and enjoy a tasty breakfast! Look forward to going again.

Kelsie S.

Yelp
Really great little hidden gem if you're in the area! The food isn't anything crazy but it is good! The atmosphere of the building is really nice and unique, we really enjoyed the experience
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Ooohhhh - I can't sing this restaurant enough praises‼We frequent Cafe Fina often and the food and service are over the top spot on Perfect location and we we LOVE it

Andrea S.

Yelp
Delicious every time! Friendly staff! Modern clean decor ! We love eating at Cafe Fina! Baked goods are incredible and my son thinks their traditional eggs over easy with bacon and hash browns are the best he's ever had!
google avatar

Ciarra B.

Yelp
Such a lovely place with a view and staff to match. The atmosphere is well lit with natural lighting and plenty of windows of the beautiful desert landscape. Big fan of the pasties and the vegan options. Even as a non-practicing again they were quite delectable. Each dish was filled with unique flavors and beautifully displayed. Before leaving, we got a cup of their Mexican mocha lattes, highly recommend for its savory accent to a sweet mocha! Will definitely make this my go to spot the next time I stop by.

Yelp
Great good! Best place to have brunch and staff very friendly! Family friendly! Breakfast Burrito
