The Flora Bakehouse Ready to Open in Beacon Hill Saturday, January 23 | Eater Seattle

"Housed in Madison Valley since the early 1990s in a space once occupied by a laundromat, Cafe Flora is a celebrated vegetarian restaurant that has built a following for its focus on sourcing organic and sustainable ingredients; current owner Nat Stratton-Clarke — a former produce buyer and general manager for the cafe — bought the place 12 years ago and has maintained its original spirit while making aesthetic upgrades. Expansion outside Madison Valley has been slow but steady, and the new Beacon Hill bakery marks an exciting expansion of the operation during a challenging time." - Gabe Guarente

We had a dinner twice in cafe Flora . Both evening was a disappointment in terms of food . It was not fresh (moules, tuna) and not well cooked (overcooked octopus) . Starters: samosa and tamarans were all super greezy, as well as fries. Two options of the wines by the glass. On top second evening, we were all surrounded by the mouches. The only thing we liked was a Very good oysters one of the evening.

We were really looking forward to this stay, but unfortunately, a few issues impacted our experience. First, during check-in, my request for a specific loft (4–6) wasn’t honored, we were given Loft 7, which we didn’t prefer as mentioned in a mail one week before arrival. This led to a delay, and we could only enter our loft at 18:30, which was inconvenient, especially with a baby needing a diaper change. Second, breakfast was included for everyone including the baby in the reservation, yet only one was registered in the system. On the first day, we managed to have breakfast together, but I was looked at oddly for taking two plates (one was for my wife), even though it was à la carte and should’ve been no issue. On the third day, we were refused breakfast entirely due to the “one-person reservation” error. Despite explaining that we had skipped the previous day and asking for a simple compensation, the staff said no. Frustrated, we chose not to eat there and went to a shop instead. That evening, we decided to cut our trip short and left at 3pm on the third day, missing out on another breakfast we had paid for. This was supposed to be a relaxing trip, but we left feeling disappointed. Toison d’Ord staff were otherwise friendly, but this service issues in Cafe Flora really affected our stay. PS. the food was very expensive and not that great (including the breakfast)

An excellent address, the dishes are varied and delicious (try the cauliflower for vegans, it is incredible!). The staff is charming and the atmosphere is great! Bravo to the whole team!

No knowledge in other languages then French. This attracts an international audience, but when I tried to communicate in English, it didn't work. The waiter missunderstood our order, so instead of 3 burgers, we got 5 (and payed for it). The ingrediences wasn't right aswell, so I went back to fix it. When returning, the waiter obviously was angry at me for misscommunicate my order. "They" hadn't made a mistake... Another waiter took over our conversation, and we got treated better! When the first waiter left the scene, she commented how "stupid" and annoying I was (I do understand and speak French pretty good...) and complained to her collegues about me. However, the second waiter was kind and solved the issue without a hassle! Even the chef came out and wanted to make sure everything was in order, and that I was happy about the result. I wouldn't go back though. Too expensive for what we got in the end.

We had a great experience here. Great food (the pizza's were my favorite!), friendly staff and a pretty decor.
