SF Restaurant Leaders Meet with Board of Supervisors to Discuss Industry Crisis | Eater SF

"I heard Terrence Alan warn, "We need to do something now, or we will be gone," about his 46-year-old Castro restaurant Cafe Flore, which is urging supervisors to waive its yearly outdoor sidewalk-seating permit fees (which rose from $2,365 in 2013 to $4,338 in 2018) and pushing that permit fees are the "low-hanging fruit" that should be streamlined." - Caleb Pershan

If you haven’t tried Cafe Flore, you must!! I’ve been a regular here since it opened. The shop has a great cozy-chic atmosphere. My favorite things to get are the fluffernutter iced latte and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant! I love this shop compared to others in the area because there’s better options for those of us who like a more fun-flavored coffee! For those who like a more traditional coffee, latte or espresso - they’ve got you guys covered too! The coffee is locally-sourced and fantastic quality. Besides their normal food menu, they also collab with another local baker to offer the most delicious baked goods. Bonus for parents, they offer kid-friendly drinks in their fridge! Definitely one of the best shops in the Pittsburgh area!

This place is adorable. I got a tiramisu latte and felt like I was back in Italy. Super friendly service and a cozy, continental art-nouveau vibe.

Cafe Flore bringing a taste of Paris to Pittsburgh New location, now open- Washington Rd. Mt Lebanon Absolute cutest cafe with patterned & floral decor plus a delicious menu! Locally roasted European style coffee homemade artisan pastries & light bites like breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, soups, salads & more! Owned & operated by a caffeine queen whose passion for delicious drinks & decadent culinary skills is not unnoticed! Tried the Twix Latte which is one of her creations- caramel, mocha & cookie butter make up this delicious sweet coffee treat & the Chorizo & Egg Bagel is delicious (obsessed with the chorizo she uses!!!) Highly highly highly recommend checking out!

Just returned from France and was visiting my son in Mt. Lebanon. Came here to try the cappuccino. It was great! The owner noted it was closer to the Italian style, and my husband and I thought it was excellent. Will definitely come back! Although we didn’t eat inside the decor was quaint and clearly a well thought out establishment. Would highly recommend!

Cafe Flore is a wonderful spot for delicious coffee and light bites. Best avocado toast I’ve ever had! We were treated with kindness and top notch service. It sets it self apart from other options in town with its calm and peaceful atmosphere.

✨ New Favorite Spot Alert ✨ Just checked out the cutest little coffee shop and I’m officially obsessed. It’s got that cozy artisan vibe that makes you want to sit and stay awhile — think handcrafted decor, thoughtful details, and a menu that feels curated with love. The staff? Genuinely some of the kindest and most attentive people I’ve encountered. You can tell they care about what they do and who they serve. Now the food… incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated — everything I tried was top-tier. But the real standout? The Coconut White Mocha. It was honestly a dream in a cup — creamy, rich, perfectly sweet, and unlike anything I’ve had before. If heaven had a flavor, it might just be that drink. Highly recommend stopping by — I’ll definitely be back. ☕✨

Such a cute place!! I have been back multiple times since I found it. The turkey pesto wrap is so delicious! It is hands down the best I have ever had. And the lavender oatmilk latte is so good. Sometimes the lavender can be a bit overwhelming, but this one is the perfect combination. The interior is so cute and does have seating. And I have to mention how friendly they are! I love this place.

If you remember and miss CC's. They have retained the cozy factor of the old diner but with an elegant and modern flair. I just wish they had a couch, I'd never leave 🤤

Yelp
Popped in after lunch in search of a good coffee. Has an excellent decaf latte. Cute place - great, low key vibe. The young women behind the counter were friendly enough. The latte was flavorful - not bitter - and the milk was steamed perfectly - nice & fluffy. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Super cute space! The workers were very nice and welcoming. I got the chorizo bfast bagel and a vanilla iced latte. Both were delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Lots of syrup flavors which they can also make into cold foams (super cool!), baked goods and lunch options. Cozy inside, tasty latte. Will be returning!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but the coffee wasn't that good and the barista was rude. It looked promising, and I brought my family, but the lack of options and the arrogance of the barista made me never want to come back. I could forgive a little if the coffee was good, but it was on par with my lowest rated cafes in Pittsburgh. This place definitely isn't worth going back.

Yelp
You should check out this spot. It has a lot of heart - subtle but lovely and thoughtful interior, a kind and welcoming owner, and consistently good food and bevs. I've been here about 4 times, sampling salads, sandwiches and coffees. They also have a nice selection of non-coffee soft drinks like sparkling water.

Yelp
I was looking forward to this new little cafe on Washington Rd in Mt. Lebanon and took my daughter to lunch today. Although the curry chicken salad was good, it was not enough to constitute a lunch. Apparently soup is a seasonal offering. I would say that $25 plus tip for 2 small sandwiches and 2 waters made for a comparatively expensive and meager lunch . If their soup menu is not available in March, they may want to offer a salad ! I would rather spend a few dollars more to have a complete lunch! In the meantime, for goodness sake, add a pickle and a handful of chips to add value to your lunch offering. That being said, we didn't try their coffee and didn't see any pastries . We got the last croissant at noon! The space was clean and inviting. Maybe as time goes on they will make menu changes unless their main interest is coffee.

Yelp
Many people are commenting that she makes the smoothest espresso in Pittsburgh. Loving the breakfast selections. Can't get enough of the infamous Curry Chicken Salad for lunch.
