The 15 Best Restaurants In London Bridge - London - The Infatuation

"If you’ve got a kink for being addressed as ‘sir’ or ‘madam’ over breakfast, then chances are you’ll like Café François. The little sibling of our perennial circumflex crush, Maison François, this all-day Borough Yards brasserie is all about eating reliably tasty French food in the presence of monogrammed napkins, and enough comté to make you forget the queues you witnessed in Borough Market. Come for a brunch that feels special enough for a French 75 toast or for dinner with a gaggle of friends in the mood for pistachio macarons." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, jake missing, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

7 London Restaurants That Will Please The Whole Family - London - The Infatuation

"Café François is a useful, all-day Borough Yards spot, that serves reliably tasty French food and is a go-to for groups big or small, grey-haired or baby-haired, picky or not. We've seen baby announcements go down at brunch, when the fancy passion fruit chia puddings and alcohol-free gooseberry and rhubarb spritzes feel suitably special. And we've witnessed families escaping Borough Market for a last-minute table at dinner. Whatever the situation, staff will call you ‘Sir’ and ‘Madame’, present you with a little monogrammed napkin, and make sure you have a great time." - rianne shlebak

Café François - Review - London Bridge - London - The Infatuation

"Café François is good whatever time of day you visit. The useful, all-day Borough Yards spot, and Maison François sibling, serves reliably tasty French food and is likely to solve a good chunk of your dining dilemmas. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Come with a gaggle of friends or solo, in those jeans that are more destroyed than distressed. Either way, staff will call you ‘Sir’ and ‘Madame’, and present you with a little monogrammed napkin. We've seen a baby announcement go down at brunch, when the fancy passion fruit chia puddings and alcohol-free gooseberry and rhubarb spritzes feel suitably special for the occasion. And we've witnessed tourists escaping Borough Market to perch at the art deco bar at dinner. Because staring at good-looking veg while taking three elbows to the ribs is fun and everything, but eating decadently gooey comté gougères and moreish lamb merguez flatbreads is better. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Food Rundown Avocado Toast If you’re still in your contrarian avocado toast era, this will melt your scepticism. It’s a great iteration of the overdone dish. The feta is a nice salty addition, pumpkin seeds add a pleasing crunch and smug health halo, and we like the garlicky, basil-heavy pistou. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Breakfast Burrito We’ve had better breakfast burritos and worse ones. This is perfectly tasty and we’d order it again. There’s a nice level of spice and smokiness from the piperade and chilli, and they don’t skimp on the merguez sausage. Bowl Of Berries We must talk about this bowl of berries. It was, simply, a bowl of berries. So, to be fair, it is exactly as advertised. But it’s also £7 and contains not that many berries. Don’t get these hoping for some surprise that isn’t in the description. Like us, you’ll be disappointed. Lamb Merguez Flatbread The moment this proud, puffed-up flatbread was delivered to our table, with a golden drizzle of oil escaping from the minced sausage, we knew we were onto a winner. It’s delicious—like meat on bread should be. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Ratatouille Dish detectives will realise that this is the same pistou used on the avocado toast. And it brings the same zesty, herby hit here. This is less of a ratatouille that you curl up in front of the TV, wrapped in a heated blanket with, and more of a dinner party dish. It’s perfectly presented, all scalloped vegetables, layered to perfection, but we don’t feel the need to reorder it. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Half Rôtisserie Chicken We’re declaring this Café François’ signature dish. It’s all tender meat and a jus that made us get territorial, having little chip sword fights in order to secure every last drop. Get the chips and béarnaise sauce with this—it’s the perfect creamy foil for that salty jus. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pistachio Macaron The macarons here are great and picking between them is like choosing a favourite child. But… it’s the pistachio one. It’s perfectly made, with a satisfying crackly top and smooth paste inside. It’s a little sweet, a little toasty, and a lot cute. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna

London’s New Restaurant Openings

"We’re big fans of Maison François—especially their full English breakfast—so we’re excited that they’ve opened a laid-back sibling spot in Borough Yards, Café François. The in-house boulangerie at this ‘modern-day French canteen’ will make breakfast sandwiches with ham, egg, rösti, and spiced ketchup. At lunch there’ll be croquettes monsieur flatbreads and escargot, and bigger evening meals include steak frites. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The starters were spot on, and the rotisserie chicken to share was absolutely incredible — juicy, full of flavour, and brilliant value for money. They even made us cocktails that weren’t on the menu, which was a great touch. Would definitely recommend, especially if you can sit outside on a sunny Friday evening and watch the world go by.

What a lovely dinner and drinks. We came and had the most lovely waitress from the start. Great service, exceptional food - beef tartar and salami to start wow. Then chicken rotisserie and steak and chips. Delicious. Not even mentioning the house wine, champagne, negronis and martinis! We stayed till close and such a great experience. Would really recommend to all parties. Friends, couples, families.

This was a nice cafe with delicious drinks and fabulous staff. We walked the entire market and decided on this this place because of the soft shell crab ban mi. We also had the escargot and a prime rib dip. I didn't care for the escargot because it tasted too much like grass but my husband liked them I loved my blood orange mimosas and the Palomas. I highly recommend this place for day drinks and a flavourful snack while visiting the market. The staff were also excellent, extremely pleasant, personable and went above and beyond. I can't wait to come back.

Unbelievable!! Went for a mini brunch for my wife's 40th (to start the birthday celebrations) and it couldn't have been a better way to kick things off. The Pain Suisse and Croissant were perhaps the best pastries we've had outside of France. Eggs benedict were perfect, with what seemed liked freshly baked muffins (may have been brioche but can't be sure - was as good as brioche) We were told the pastries are baked fresh every day...and you could tell! They had the perfect combination of crispy + sturdy elements. The Croissant kept it's shape when cut through the middle. The service was attentive and they were happy to talk to us to answer any questions. Items arrived in a timely manner. Couldn't ask for anything else. Overall, you get a very special vibe and experience. Everything feels high end and if that's what you want, then you'll definitely get it. Cannot wait to go back to try the wider menu.

We booked a table 30 mins before we arrived and sat at the bar area. Greet service and lovely atmosphere, it was very busy outside so nice to find a quiet place to enjoy some lunch. We had the Prime rib with bone marrow, escargots and pomme frites. All delicious and perfectly cooked. All of the staff were lovely, special thanks to Luis and Rafael who really looked after us.

Decent food but service stumbled. I had Steak Tartar, Escargot and Salade Niçoise. It was all fine, but not the best I've had. Of my dishes, the Salade Niçoise had the best flavours and stayed true to the most classic preparation. It's a pleasant place to eat outside...I enjoyed the people watching. My wait person changed three times... They forgot my cocktail and never came to get my dessert order (I'd requested a dessert menu and discussed options). I finally gave up, paid and left.

This restaurant is an absolute find. The sister to Mason Francois. The atmosphere is perfect. Not too loud, not too quiet. My friends and I were able to chat without shouting which was wonderful. Our sever Marianta was a delight and couldn’t have been more helpful. I highly recommend the monkfish curry and the hazelnut Paris-Breast. Simply delicious! One other thing Cafe Francois does which is an excellent addition is that at the end of your bull, they print the division hints to show your total if you split your bill in different ways. An excellent little touch.

We love Maison Francois so came to try this bistro. We reserved a table online that morning for 5pm- we could see many availability between 3-6pm. We were 30 min early and could see that they were 30% full. We were told, you were early and your table was not ready. It was somewhat patronising attitude which shouldn’t be there to greet customers. 10 minutes later, we were shown to a table cramped between two tables on the low ceiling upstairs dining area. There were a few table for two downstairs which was nicer and more spaced. Felt like oh you were early but we would put you in the worst table anyway! We politely asked for a table with more space as there were many other tables available. The same table, they tried to seat people after us, but all asked to move! You wondered why! Apart from the little issue seating, here is food, table service and price. Food - classic French, well executed. Price - more affordable than Maison Francois but service is not as good but generally good for bistro except the service to greet and show you the table in need of improvement. Overall good and we may return if we get downstairs seating.
