After coming here for YEARS, i was on a phone call and another patron shouted at me, quite literally raised her voice to tell me that i need to take my call outside - i was a bit shocked as i had no idea what she meant , i instantly apologised if i was too loud… she then SLAMMED and i mean slammed the sign onto my table that said something about not taking calls inside to which i politely said “ im so sorry i didnt know that was rule here “ , she mumbled something and walked out. I have been coming to cafe frank for years where I’ve sat next to people who have had zoom calls, phone calls and full on team meetings - it was never addressed by staff and no one was ever asked to tone it down or take a call outside. The issue i have is NOT the lady who was clearly having a bad day and felt that was the most appropriate way to go about the phone call, the sad part was the staff. ANYONE of the team members could have tapped me on the shoulder and simply told me about the rule , i would have more than happily said sorry and ended my call or taken it outside, they could have even said a genuine “mam, please read the sign” or something that was just the good standard service which we have always received there. The fact that they didn’t apologise to me or just check in and say “sorry about that mam, in the future - we do ask patrons to take calls outside” , or say anything to the lady who shouted is what’s causing this review. What was such a lovely cafe that we would frequently go to for breakfast has now left such a bitter taste in my mouth and we unfortunately will not be getting our breakfast there. There are a few faces that we see a lot behind the counter and for some reason on this day, the two ladies we know were not there (either off or just out, I’m not sure). We are in the service industry ourselves so we do understand difficult patrons but I wouldn’t be leaving this review if I wasn’t completely disappointed. Hopefully other frequent patrons are looked after better in the future.
