Cafe Hagen (Modern Scandinavian All Day Restaurant and Cocktail Bar)

I’ve loved cafe Hagen for years since I started going to the location in Queen Anne. As someone who loves Scandinavian culture and architecture this place is the perfect American adaptation of it. The opening of the Bellevue location is like no other. It has the perfect atmosphere for people who are meeting with friends, getting work done or taking zoom calls. The food menu is so expansive from all day breakfast items, fusion lunches and Scandi style weekend brunches. There’s truly something for everyone. The pastries are baked fresh every morning and are some of the most delicious pasties in the Seattle area. Not only is the coffee to die for, with its home made syrups and beautiful latte art there also is a wide variety of specialty cocktails for happy hour evenings! The staff is friendly and extremely efficient. Even when lines are 15 people long they do a great job of getting orders for everyone with a friendly and professional attitude. I can’t recommend this place enough! Everyone should try it

Café Hagen has a beautiful, spacious, and cozy atmosphere that feels very welcoming. We ordered the Healthy Skillet for breakfast — it was delicious and enough for two people, though the egg flavor was a bit strong. The coffee was excellent, especially the seasonal flavors, which were rich and unique. The only downside is the parking validation — they only validate for one hour, which can be tricky since by the time you order and get your food, the hour is almost up. Overall, it was a lovely experience. Also mocha dome is one of the best pastries there.

The overall atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. The space feels clean, cozy, and relaxing — a place you naturally want to stay longer. I had the Chicken Avocado Salad, and it was fresh, well-balanced, and very satisfying. A perfect spot in Bellevue for brunch or a light meal!

WOW!! Bellevue Cafe Hagen has not only delicious and smooth coffee, but the baristas behind the bar are incredibly welcoming!!! Flavors are made in house, traditional speciality coffee with the most beautiful textures and professional presentation. This location is more than just a fancy and modern eatery!! Cafe Hagen prides themselves on seed to cup ethics and education while they roast their own coffee beans. The food and pastries are made fresh and glisten- tempting you to want more!! I will be telling everyone I know to make Cafe Hagen their frequent spot. So excited to come in again!

This was my second time visiting this cafe since I absolutely loved my first experience here. I really enjoy the atmosphere. It’s elegant, calm, and the coffee is excellent. However, I felt a bit rushed when ordering this time. When I asked about the sizes for the Jasmine Cider (the menu listed three sizes, but the cashier only mentioned two), the cashier seemed to hurry through the whole process, which made it feel a bit uncomfortable. Then, while I was still selecting how I wanted my receipt, the cashier cancelled the transaction, and I had to ask again for a paper receipt. I still love the drinks and ambiance here just hope the ordering experience feels a little more relaxed next time.

Cafe Hagen calls itself a modern Scandinavian restaurant and cocktail bar—and it truly is all of that. But when a single place tries to be a café, a restaurant, and a bar, it becomes hard to define. For me, it felt like something in between… maybe best described as a lounge. That said, I really enjoyed my experience. The ambiance is beautiful, the food and pastries were excellent, and the mocha I ordered was fantastic. It’s a versatile spot, and while I’m not sure what to label it, I do know I had a great time. Definitely worth a visit.

You pay extra for the pretty presentation, location, and ambience… that’s pretty much it. I like the bread on the avocado toast, but the actual taste is overall ordinary. The pastries were quite stale, as they were sitting out behind glass with a few flies having a family gathering over them. I will say, the coffee is wonderful—rich and robust, with unique syrups and milk alternatives available. What really knocks them down is how overpriced everything is. $13 avocado toast plus $3 for a single egg? $6.50 for a 12oz latte? $3 extra for a side of chips? Madness. You’re paying for the “Instagram worthiness” of their food and drinks. Overall, the space is great for studying or hanging with friends, but even then it gets extremely busy and LOUD during peak hours and weekends (you will have to hunt for seating). Service is rude and pretentious as well. There’s no available street parking, but there is a paid lot that’s free on Sundays.

Food looks fine, egg was nicely done but tasteless. Flat white after you pay for extra shots was apparently fine. Americano was just warm colored water. Had to go back for extra shot (making the price of normal Americano at about 10usd, not a large one either). The extra shot made it at least have coffee after taste but it's still weak (see picture color). Not surprised they have less traffic than Farine (which has awesome coffee and breakfast) though their pastry looked nice.
