Cafe Heidelberg

Cafe Heidelberg is the best breakfast spot my wife and I tried during a brief trip to Laguna Beach. She had a breakfast platter with house-made sausage, eggs, and fruit. The sausage was absolutely fantastic! I had the Eggs Heidelberg, which were also delicious! I thought the coffee was good, the price was right, and the patio view on a Saturday morning was very relaxing. Overall, I was impressed by the food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. It’s definitely a great spot to go!

Great food! Very well seasoned and it came out fast too! I had the vanilla latte, hott lightly sweetened, the seasoned omelet and blueberry buttermilk pancakes….. probably the best I ever had.

Everything about this place is fantastic. The food, the service, the seating and views. I liked it so much we came here twice during our 4 day trip. We initially went to different coffee shops every morning and this was my favorite. I got a latte and it was amazing. I am on a strict Keto carnivore diet (minus the latte lol) so it’s hard to find healthy protein breakfasts and they had several good options. I got the eggs Benedict with avocado and spinach. Service was very friendly and very fast. Sweet potato fries are a bonus 😃🥰 My son is picky as well and he loved the sliders and fries.

I got the huevos rancheros and it was awesome, I loved the addition of mango in the pico de gallo. My husband got the Nordic eggs, and it was fantastic! Service was very quick. We dined out front, which had a partial view of the ocean but a lot of noise from the cars passing by. Great spot!

Fun spot with great views from inside or outside. The place has huge windows and great views of the ocean (one one side of the indoor seating). Food is delicious, and you can tell they use fresh and great ingredients. Lots of options, and they can customize your food as well. Friendly staff, very helpful, and they seem to love what they do, which is huge. A must if you're in the area.

Food was great, everyone enjoyed their orders, tables can be a struggle to get, but the food is worth it. Prices aren’t too bad. We will visit again.

We tripped over this spot by accident driving the coast. We made it a point to return within the same trip. Best coffee drinks we had in five days in the area, and that is powerful because there are so many top notch places in competition.

Cute cafe located on pch and a short walk from the ocean. I stopped by spontaneously to get a coffee and was pleasantly surprised that they offered a pumpkin flavored latte during summer. I ordered an iced pumpkin cheesecake latte to go and waited about 15 minutes total to order and to get my drink. The coffee itself tasted like good quality beans and milk to coffee ratio. The only downside would be the syrups used to get the pumpkin cheesecake flavor. It had a very strong taste and felt very thick at the bottom of the drink. Despite this, I'd definitely come back and try their other drinks and food! It was very busy for a weekday and plenty of people were still lining up.

Food: the best breakfast in Orange County! You must try the Tony and Elizabeth omelette. Also, their raspberry jam is amazing!!!! Here's a hint: try black coffee with jam on the rim of the coffee cup! Thank me later! Service: friendly, fast, clean and attentive. Ambiance: casual.

I loved this place! The customer service was AMAZING and the food was great!! I'll definitely go back. Definitely get the sausage vs the bacon.

Heidelberg was absolutely packed the entire time we were in Laguna. When we finally got a chance to eat there I can see why. The breakfast burrito, specifically the chorizo one, was fantastic. My wife's lox bagel was delicious as well. She loved it. Everyone was super nice too. It was very scenic and relaxed. Perfect for a weekend getaway brunch.

Food was excellent. We all cleaned our plates - Seafood omelet, Mexicali omelet, Egfs Benedict, and Harvest Pumpkin salad Our lattes were yummy. The pumpkin spice was nice with the extra pumpkin spice. The soy latte was ok, but the top layer was a bit bitter. Nice ambiance, will be nice when they finish the painting outside.

Solid local breakfast spot on Brooks and PCH. Lots of parking all around on the street and walk up & order at the counter makes this an easy in and out breakfast. Not a lot of seating inside but I'm sure on a sunny day there is ample seats outside as well. We ordered at the counter, a couple of omelettes and a couple of huevos rancheros. We sat at a large table just to the right as you walk in and it was a cold rainy day. At 12:30 PM on a rainy Tuesday it was still fairly busy so you can tell this is a local hotspot. The food was solid, nothing special, but there were a few things I really loved like the sourdough bread with homemade raspberry jam and butter. The café latte was fabulous! And I loved the overall ambience and local vibe. They definitely need a cook that learns how to make eggs. My omelette was dried out and cooked to death. Anytime you see brown eggs you know whoever was cooking has no idea what the hell they are doing. You should never let eggs sit long enough to get brown and overdone. Especially in an omelette with almost no cheese. In fact, that's what was missing. There was no cheese in the omelette and it dried everything out. The potatoes were fabulous. I could've eaten a plate of those along with that sourdough bread and jam and a latte I would've been happy as could be. I'll chalk it up to the cooks off day and assume this place is a local gem, so four stars on my first round.

I work right down the street and had never stopped in here until today. Kim was working behind the counter and she was fantastic! So knowledgeable, friendly, and great customer service. I will definitely be returning!

Food was decent here , much better from the other breakfast spots that were near by our hotel. The vanilla latte wasn't good...it literally felt like I was drinking a shot lol. I thought maybe letting it water down would taste better but no. I drank just half , bf only took a sip ( as pictured). However , everything else was fine. The service is fast and our food got to us quickly. The worker checked on us a few times but mainly to warn us that his boss might want to pull in the umbrella due to the wind. It wasn't windy though just rain. Many people were walking in but there was hardly any seats outside due to the rain and no coverage. There isn't many seats inside either

Everything here is amazing. I created my own omelet and came out perfect with the potatoes. My husband ordered the bacon egg croissant also amazing. I don't think you can go wrong with ordering anything from here!

We liked this place! Delicious food, promptly served, reasonably priced with friendly and helpful services. We had California Burrito and Seafood Omelette with coffee and a mocha. All are nicely presented with delicious taste. The front desk lady and the nice busboy lady both offered to refill my coffee. Good convenient location, comfortable outdoor and indoor seating. Tables are promptly cleaned.

got the avocado toast and matcha latte. i would say the food and drinks are pretty standard. cute interior and not crowded for a sunday.

This was such a cute little spot with great food! You order at the counter and they bring it out to you, so definitely a casual little spot. The hubs and I each got a breakfast burrito. Mine had bacon, eggs, cheese, and a hashbrown inside. His was similar but he got breakfast potatoes and sausage instead of hashbrowns and bacon. They were both really good, but I liked the additional crunch that mine had (his potatoes were softer so no crunch). We were able to sit outside and watch the city wake up while we ate. The employees were also friendly and attentive, which you don't always get at order at the counter places. I'd definitely come back!

Such a cute little casual breakfast spot!!! We decided to walk from our hotel to find breakfast and stumbled across this place - we're so happy we did! Our omelettes were delicious and the staff was very friendly. We'll definitely be back the next time we visit Laguna!

Came here for breakfast and really enjoyed it. I ordered the Almond French Toast- but was bummed when I passed a plate of pancakes on my way back to my table. Wasn't upset in the slightest once I bit into my French toast. So soft, moist and not overly eggy. The almond was also nice and subtle. Highly recommend for breakfast.

The location of this cafe is just about perfect. It's close enough to shops and the beach making it a great stop for coffee, pastries, and of course breakfast. The staff were friendly, the place was clean, and the food was *chef kiss. I had the Avocado toast and my little had the chocolate chip pancakes. We took the food to go and literally walked across the street, down a small hill, and onto the beach.

We always have breakfast several times here when we stay in Laguna Beach. My wife and I like the Huevos Rancheros and the kids get pancakes and scrambled eggs. Relaxed atmosphere. Validated parking. Has outside seating.

Great place! California omelette is fantastic. Take the trolley and step right off and into this gem! Super friendly staff!

I had a delicious sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich. Photo is 1/2 of the sandwich! Excellent presentation of a great meal.

Everything here has been a 10/10!!! I got the California Omelette with a side of potatoes and sourdough with jam. This is the *perfect* egg white omelette. Perfectly seasoned, perfect amount of texture, perfect amount of cheese. So good. The potatoes were delicious as was the bread and jam. Crème brûlée latte was absolutely delicious. Blueberry stuffed French toast was to die for. I didn't even reach the cream filling!!! So good. I wish I could eat it ALL!!!! I didn't try the chicken and waffles, but husband cleared his plate so I'm sure it was great! Weather was perfect (we sat outside), service was excellent. Definitely try this place out for brunch.

The BEST brunch spot in Laguna! The view is amazing, with the cars passing and slight view of the ocean with outdoor seating either in or out of the sun. The food always stunning with beautiful presentation and tastes DELICIOUS! My favorite drink is the iced peach tea and their coffee is always excellent! Perfect for family and friends and dog friendly on the outside patio. I've been coming for 5+ years with many more to come!

Cute corner cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. Friendly staff. Quick service. And the food was fabulous. The Eggs Heidelberg is a must order.

My husband got the iced salted cream cold brew and I go the iced Lavendar vanilla latte. Both were so delicious! My husband got the Eggs Heidelberg and wouldn't get it again. The flavors didn't work for him. I got the Almond French Toast and I was in heaven!!! It was absolutely amazing and I would go there every morning for breakfast to eat that if I could!! 10/10 recommend. It's a self-service place, but the cashier/barista who took our order was nice. We sat in the far corner to have an ocean view and we loved it.

A nice hidden gem in Laguna Beach, with lots of great pastries and a wide selection of brunch and breakfast items. I haven't tried their food yet, I just had their orange juice. Coming back again for the full experience. I love the small outdoor seating arrangement facing the beach (you won't see much of it, though).

Awesome place to have a brunch. Coffee is great and actually tastes like coffee. The servers were very nice. We had a breakfast burrito and avocado toast and both tasted great and filled us up. I would say my only complaint, which is small, is if one gets avocado on a burrito one should not just have it be one slice at the bottom of the burrito. But that is minor. We were definitely here again.

Our second morning in Laguna Beach, we found this cafe. Ambiance was certainly nice for those who just wanted to have a slow, quiet morning and have breakfast The service of the staff was great. Food was great too. My only comment on my pancakes was that it tasted a little bit too overcooked, it was still good though. The smoked salmon bagel was good too!

Came here for brunch and loved it all! The restaurant is super cute, the food is EXCELLENT!!! Definitely recommend. I got the smoked salmon benedict, which was divine. The french toast was amazing as well, it wasn't too sweet which is my preference. Coffee: perfect!

Absolutely the best place at Laguna Beach. Everything was amazing, the service, food , lattes and fresh squeezed orange juice so good!! I definitely recommend Heidelberg Cafe & Bistro. Outdoor seating and ambiance just makes it thousand times better.

This place has been on my list of places to try for awhile now my only regret is not trying it sooner! The service was quick/friendly, the food was amazing & the cafe was clean and welcoming! I highly recommend the Blueberry Stuffed Brioche French Toast & the Eggs Heidelberg! Also, don't skip out on the fresh orange juice and coffee drinks! The Lavender Vanilla Latte is delicious if you love a more floral drink. The Lavender flavor didn't taste artificial either. Overall I'm very satisfied with coming here and I'll definitely be back again!

They definitely triggered my love for croissant sandwiches! It was so simple yet so good! You order at the counter for this one and the vibes are just great as it is not that crowded. Their coffee is also soooo good and I cannot forget the potatoes!

bacon breakfast burrito. Super fast service, burrito was delicious. Hashbrowns were crispy as was the bacon. Egg and cheese was plentiful. Nice patio seating area to enjoy the weather. Highly recommended!

My husband ate a breakfast burrito here- got food poisoning and has been vomiting the whole day and night. Last time I went here there was a hair in my food- haven't been back since. (When I said there was a hair they did not refund me either)

Love the location just a block from the beach, offering indoor & outdoor seating. Service was okay at best, there seemed to be ample staff, but taking our order took very long, and delivery of items was in single items. We both ordered a latte, yet they came to our table one by one. We had to ask for parts of our order. Food was delicious & fresh. A cafe named Heidelberg. I would have hoped for a few more German options (other than a Black Forest Latte. Overall it was a good experience, but not a place I want to come back to.

Was in the neighborhood and found this place through Yelp so decided to give it a try. We came on a Sunday morning, it was BUSY. But the line to the register moved fast and I was surprised with how fast our food arrived. It was DELICIOUS! I think this is one of the only reasonable priced breakfast spots, everywhere else is so over priced. The lady with the glasses at the register was so sweet and welcoming. The other lady working with the long hair in a ponytail, wow she was doing great. Running around with a smile when dropping off food, you can tell she's a great worker who adds a lot of value to this spot. Some of the best breakfast I've had in a while and service too. Will 1000% be returning here.

Their menu is full of variety, which was great for my sister, who is gluten-free. We both really love the meals that we got, and felt that the portions were a really nice size. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito. She enjoyed the Heidelberg special, which was like an eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. There are tables both inside and outside. We didn't order a latte, but the menu options sounded really good for them, so I would probably try one next time.

This is my favorite place to get breakfast in Laguna. As simple as oatmeal can be, they make the absolute best oatmeal! I can't even explain why it's so good but it is! Their gluten free muffins are also fantastic! If you don't get there early enough they sell out of them fast! Definitely a great place to grab breakfast or a snack!

The food is great. Friendly service. Nice view of the beach from the patio seatings. And the very best thing is their clean restrooms. It's our goto spot before heading to the beach.

With no table side service and get your own coffee it's a little pricey for a bistro cafe. The location is very good with outdoor seating facing PCH. A walk across the street takes you ocean front at the Brooks street beach access. Enjoy!

WHERE IS THE VEGGIE BURGER!? That was EVERYTHING!!! Such a staple for sooo many years. I was sad to not see it on the menu anymore

Absolutely delicious. Made from scratch. Slight German influence on the menu. Had the Linguisa, and it was delicious. Pleasant place to est on the patio. Very friendly and great service. Baked goods and pasteies are delicious, too. You won't be sorry!
