The food is amazing, which is why I still come here, but the service from the younger workers gets worse every time!
Today, I ordered an iced coffee. As I gave my order, I forgot to mention the size. The girl behind the counter responded, "How do you want it? Hot? Iced? Size?" as if I hadn't given any description of what I wanted.
Attached is a picture of the bagel with maple walnut cream cheese that I ordered. She didn't even cover one full side! It looks like she used about 1/4 of an ounce of cream cheese, but I got charged full price.
I noticed her putting my order in a bag, so I let her know it was to stay. "Not that you asked!" I mumbled to myself. She tosses the bagel on a tray and tosses the tray on the counter. After payment, I had to ask for my receipt because she did not offer or ask if I wanted one, nor was I informed of how much my order cost.
My iced coffee was served very dark, like she'd used milk instead of cream, so I asked for "another splash of cream." By the look in her face, you would think I asked my server to deliver me the Hope diamond! (Edit to add: from the taste of it, she did originally add milk instead of cream, as ordered).
I was not offered a straw or napkins with my order, either. At this point, I was done asking for items that should have been automatically given (in spite of "straw law" which I have yet to see obeyed anywhere else).
I believe in supporting small businesses, but I do not tolerate bad service. Now that Panera has switched back to offering real cream cheese, I may find myself back there instead. The service is marginally better, but at least there I don't get bad service with a side of attitude problem.
