The 5 Best Things To Eat In Helen, Georgia During Oktoberfest

"Reuben Sandwich As the name suggests, Cafe International offers a menu of global bites, from a German brat board to a greek salad and french dip. But it’s Nebraska’s own reuben sandwich that the world should be taking notice of here. The sandwich is at its traditional best with tangy sauerkraut, generous portions of tender, finely chopped corned beef, and melted Swiss all piled onto toasted rye. Since their spacious patio overlooks a scenic stretch of the Chattahoochee River, we suggest settling in with a few drinks. We’d say order Poland’s greatest export, vodka (and some cranberry juice), while watching folks partake in the classic Deep South pastime of tubing down the Hooch for a UN-approved experience you never knew you needed." - demarco williams, juli horsford

Visiting from South FL. Stopped by here on a whim because we were hungry. I hadn’t looked them up prior. We ordered the Chattahoochee board to be able to taste an array of typical German cuisine. Everything on the platter was delicious, but my favorite was the pretzel and cheese. Really great to visit for a quick bite and beer!

This place was recommended to me by a friend who advised me to get the REUBEN sandwich 🥪 which I did and it was mouthwatering. This Cafe International is right next to the famous tubing river, so you get a great view and a nice cool breeze. This place doesn't look fancy at all, but the 2 meals/sandwiches that I ordered with my wife were savory. Their menu had great options/choices. Just their Reuben sandwich is well worth going to to this place.

This is a great place to come to enjoy a pretzel & Reuben and view of the creek and Main St. However, the service is not that great. It was not all that busy, so the service could have been better. The waitress was not that attentive and I had to ask for napkins, more water, etc. The quality and taste of the pretzel and Reuben was terrific! The bread was toasted perfectly and the meat and cheese was rested at an admirable temperature. The pretzel and beer cheese was what you would expect out of a Bavarian style. I was a bit disappointed in the mixed drinks. The vodka cranberry I ordered was insipid. It was overpowered with cranberry. The mimosa was 90% orange juice and had a very undear champagne.

The place is great. Good beers. Unfortunately when you come alone, the waitress dont come to check on you. I ordered a beer to drink, after i got it. Waitress never come to check, not even ounces. Saw they come the table in front of me twice. Just like last week when ,i came with my three friends, waitress come to the table more the once. After i finish the beer, had to go ask for the check. Left hungry, so just when to grab food somewhere else.

Our visit to the International Cafe was absolutely wonderful! Even on a chilly day, sitting by the water was such a relaxing experience—it wasn’t too cold for us Floridians, and the view made it worth it. The customer service was truly impressive. Our lovely waitress, Faith, and the owner, Marvin, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were so sweet and kind, sharing great stories and thoughtful recommendations that made our time there even more special. The food was incredible! The beer cheese with the pretzel was out of this world—an absolute must-try. We also swapped the pita for chips with the spinach and artichoke dip, and it was fantastic. Every detail was handled with care, and you could tell they genuinely cared about their customers. Highly recommend this gem of a spot—it’s not just a meal, it’s an experience. We’ll absolutely be back!

We have been coming to this restaurant for years. We usually go for lunch but this time stopped in for dinner. We got seated promptly and had a wonderful water view. We got our food really quick. We always get the rueban sandwich with side of German potato salad. It was as great as in previous visits. Highly recommend.

This place is phenomenal! I definitely encourage people to come see our server Allen and leave him a GREAT TIP! Food service wasn’t only fast but absolutely delicious! If you want a burger bigger than your face this is the place! Not to mention I have never been to a restaurant and complimented sweet tea until now! Satisfactory guaranteed!

My friend had asked did I visit Cafe ☕️ International. When I visited Helen, Georgia with my hubby this past January/2024 for New Years. I was like yes I did. Next, on mind was how did I let this Revu-a-holic time slip by me? Though, I do apologize for the delay. I blame it on because “I am a mother” 👩🏿. Let’s continue? Well, I had a pleasant experience but, I was freezing 🥶 the whole time. You will read more about that in my pros and cons below. The sun was out but so was that hawk on your back. When entering the establishment you get positive vibes. For instance, all the employees greet you as if you are on that show Cheers. Only thing missing is they don’t know your name. Lastly, since I was cold we decided to get the rest of our meal to go. Pros: Hostess/Cashier professional and knowledgeable Clean tables Meals are served hot and promptly Meals are presentable, fresh, and tasteful Menus are legible and clean Options for vegetarians and vegans. I tried the meatless bratwurst and it was really good. Theme aligns with ambiance Television for entertainment Music aligns with theme. It’s not too loud and not too low. Server was outstanding and funny 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Satisfying amount of beverages. I got a double shot of vodka 🥃 🤫😉 Friendly environment Prices are reasonable Spacious seating areas Handicap accessible Dine in and carryout available I do not know if they have a restroom or if it is clean Cons: The restaurant infrastructure relates to an inside and outside feng shui. For example, the business uses some form of clear awning patio curtains for walls and windows. It is a good idea because people can view the landscape of the area. Though, the chilly wind still cuts threw. I must be honest it is beautiful heaters place throughout the establishment but it does not help. So, I had to rate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
