"Cafe Italia, known for its red checked tablecloths and classic Italian dishes, closed in April due to an inability to keep up with rising rents. Freddie Lutz, who worked there for 25 years, is leading the revival effort with former employees Adolfo and Birtillo Urrutia. The restaurant is being renovated but will maintain its original essence. The sale was completed on May 21." - Warren Rojas

I read the reviews, and to me, the Marinara Sauce was excellent. Love the small comfortable feel of the place. The Service is too notch. Ordered the FBI .

Great spot calm atmosphere and quiet music playing that doesn’t get in the way of conversation. Food is excellent and good portions I often take leftovers. Love bringing a bottle of wine or two and gathering with friends or family. Try asking about magic

Perhaps we went on an off day or perhaps they've improved? The food just wasn't good. My pasta was practically soaking in sauce.

5-star, no doubt! We had so pleasant time here not just because of their delicious food but friendly service as well. Their food is so delicious. Spaghetti was cooked just right with authentic Italian sausages. My son liked his margarita pizza. Service was above & beyond my expectation. To make the waiting time at our table more fun, the waitress brought a toy to my daughter and showed my son some veggie leaves that used in Italian cuisine. Wow!

We had a late lunch at the new restaurant in Falls Church. The staff was friendly, good service, nice atmosphere. The house-made Italian salad dressing was the best I ever had. Nice salad of mixed greens, delicious warm bread. I had the pasta with mixed seafood (can't remember the name of it) in a tomato base sauce. Again, it exceeded my expectation. My husband had the lasagna with a large meatball and large hot sausage and he loved it. Lunch prices are excellent for the value. We'll be going back.

Charming place. Had a nice European feel/look to it. Bartender made a good drink, breads were delicious, salads were very good and main courses (spaghetti w/ meatball and portobello mushrooms) were very, very tasty. While the food was excellent, the service somehow was even better. The waitress was friendly, fun and very efficient. The owner (or manager) was very nice and friendly too. Great atmosphere! This restaurant was just AMAZING all around!!!! Loved it and hope to get to DC soon again to go back.

My family and I decided to eat at this restaurant early on a Saturday evening. Our first hint should have been walking in to a mostly empty restaurant. As you can guess, our experience was not the greatest. First, let's start with the bread. I do not know what other reviewers are referencing, but we did not have great baked breads. We received 6 slices of toasted Italian bread with packaged butter. It was OK. The garlic toast appetizer was on more generic toasted white Italian bread. Not much flavor. The entrees were more disappointing. The chicken Parmesan was mostly breading. Quite literally, there was a thin slice of pounded chicken in between thick breading - easily 2/3 breading and 1/3 chicken. The pasta sauce did not taste like authentic sauce - it was not very good. The rest of my family got the shrimp scampi pasta and the spaghetti with meat sauce. All around it was not good food. If you are looking for a good Italian experience, look elsewhere. I gave a rating of 2 instead of 1 because the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff were very courteous.

Having worked at an Italian Restaurant many years ago in Miami Beach haven't had a nice meal that remind me those years. The portions were accordingly with the prices and enough to satisfy my appetite. Full flavor ragu sauce over pasta made my experience outstanding. Service was at point, sometimes you get a better and friendly ones at small places than big chains. For this reason I will recommend it and as usual, be patient and enjoy your meal
