No-Waste Pub La Cale Is Coming to Montreal’s St-Hubert Plaza | Eater Montreal

"I saw that Café Le 5e in Verdun is taking on a similar no‑waste challenge as part of a wider local interest in reducing single‑use waste in food and drink service." - Tim Forster

This place is such a gem. My favorite cafe on Wellington and I am one of their regulars. What stands out the most is the staff. Super friendly, pleasant and genuinely seem happy to be there. They also have healthy food/snack options and gluten free options. Definitely recommend giving it a try, you will feel right at home:)

I just had one the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. WOW. The Mumbai sandwich is EPIC. They have a real fire grill, so the tofu had that real BBQ flavour you just cant get with liquid smoke. I'm a Chef, and I was blown away. First time here since they moved from their old location about a year ago. I will be coming back again soon.

Very cute simple café with vegetarian options. I got the cutest mochachino ever! Also feel like need to say, extremely clean bathrooms.

A gem of a cafe and my favorite on the island. I’ve been to many. The owner is very welcoming, kind, and involved, he really cares about this cafe and you can tell it’s his passion. Food and pastries are incredible and you would never believe that many of them are vegan. Delicious coffee and they offer every type of milk, from cow milk to macadamia. The atmosphere is really cozy but fun, there’s board games and books for the customers to use so it’s impossible to get bored. They’ve also got their alcohol license which makes it the perfect place for a drinks and board game night between friends. The service is great and the baristas are absolutely amazing, they’re always so friendly and helpful and they seem to stick around for a while. I have never received bad service here and I’ve been coming regularly for a year now. There’s also little play area where your kids can play. I have no notes, it’s a must try for newcomers to Verdun and a go-to for locals :)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Café Jardin is a hidden sanctuary for coffee lovers and nature seekers alike. Surrounded by lush greenery and filled with fresh air, it’s the perfect escape from the noise of the city. The ambiance is peaceful and refreshing, making it ideal for slow mornings, quiet afternoons, or romantic evenings. Their coffee is rich and aromatic, and the food menu offers a delightful mix of comfort dishes and light bites — all beautifully plated and full of flavor. The garden setting creates a calm, almost magical atmosphere, and the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you’re looking for a café experience that feels like a retreat, Café Jardin is a must-visit.

The staff were very nice. The coffee was good too. I has the pumpkin spice laté and my friend had the laté. Was as good as expected. Second time: Nice staff. Stayed for several hours because snowed out. Tried 2 coffees and an Earl Grey. And a chicken club (vege) very happy with everything! ❤️

Loved the place! All Vegan. We went for two Cortados, a regular croissant and a BLT. Cortado was very good. BLT was great as well. But what we loved the most was croissant - one of the best we've had in Montreal. In fact, after our meal, we got another regular one and a chocolate one for home. The chocolate one was also amazing! While there's 2-3 tables at the main floor, they have a large seating space in the basement that can accommodate a large group. There's no table service since it's two people running the show. So you basically order and once it's done, you can take it and sit wherever you want. They have a small grocery store in the back (which is perhaps another business) which is great to check out while you wait for the order. They also have small plants available for purchase and from what my wife mentioned they were almost the same price or even less compared to the supermarkets. Definitely recommended!!!

Yelp
Went here just to grab an iced tea but found out that all the pastries on display are vegan! Tried a chocolatine and it was excellent. I wish I didn't live 2000 miles away

Yelp
I am so charmed by this wonderful cafe. In terms of food, we had: pastries, coffee, smoothie, salad, and a kids faux chicken nugget meal. The toy included with the kid's meal was a sweet touch. All non-dairy milks were included in the price as well, love that. Everything was tasty and affordable. The service was impeccable. Bilingual, friendly, and patient. A real contrast to the cold shoulder we got at Cafe Nevé in the Plateau. My three year old had a great time playing with the toys downstairs. The play lounge is thoughtfully arranged so child-minders can sit, eat, and converse alongside their charges. I will say some of the seating could do with a good cleaning though. Even the other patrons were friendly; we had two positive interactions downstairs. If you're looking for a place that is welcoming to your kids instead of looking at them disdainfully, this is it!

Yelp
This cafe is such a cute, hip spot! The best part: zero waste. They use mason jars for drinks, have metal straws for use, sugar in jars, and such amazing drink selections. They have a quieter section downstairs as well, which is nice for people who might want to get work done with a cup of coffee!

Yelp
This lil cafe shop is fantastic and I love that they are zero waste. You just pay a little extra and they can put your coffee in a glass jar you keep. They also have dairy free milk. My go to is a cortado with macadamia milk :)

Yelp
I simply love the concept of this coffee shop: zero trash! It's such a great idea since we produce soooo much waste on a daily basis. This coffee shop located on Wellington offers a quiet oasis to study, work and relax, with great coffee and pastries. I tried their pingo (cortado in Portuguese) with oatmilk, it was fantastic! The owner of the coffee shop is super nice and has great visions about his very green business. The shop next door is also aiming for zero trash, which makes the statement even stronger. The interior decor is cosy and colourful, I love the vibes here! Definitely recommending!
