Google
Went on a late Friday morning and there was no wait for a table, but the place was very busy. The food was great and the servers very attentive. Great Atmosphere. This was our first trip to Austin, and we will be coming back next time we are here. 5 Stars.

Victoria T.

Google
Josh is amazing! He was our server and was so attentive and kind. We got the double shot teddy graham latte and strawberry matcha. Pretty solid drinks to wake us up. We also ordered the ribeye platter and split decision. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were more than enough to fill you up. Definitely coming back on my next trip to Austin.

Google
Such a great experience! The customer service was friendly and welcoming, the coffee was perfect, and the food was fresh and delicious. You can really tell they care about their customers. Highly recommend!

Google
We came for breakfast during rush hour on a Sunday, there was a lot of people but we were able to get seating quickly and get our food in a timely manner. Service was great everyone was really nice and the food was good too.

Google
Came to cafe java two days in a row, had Billie the second day and by far had the best service! She was very attentive and genuinely enjoys her job and customers! :)

Google
I’ve been here several occasions and it never disappoints. I always regret choosing somewhere else to eat. Chicken fried steak is always a go to.

Google
It was terrible the food was bland chicken fried steak taste like burnt flour the sausage was salty. They somehow forgot n took forever to make me a basic black coffee. after I let the waitress know nicely about my food I still paid full price, $40 down the drain. N.i wasn't going to leave a review n I wasn'teven upset about my food THAT WAS UNTIL....the rude old lady with the salt n pepper hair who said "we don't have to ever come back." Jokes on u I won't I don't even live in this city. Our friends decided to take me n my husband out before he deployed. But my husband said the lemon blueberry pancakes were really good.

Google
My favorite breakfast in Austin. The grilled blueberry muffin is one of my favorite things to eat but anything on the menu is delicious.. This place is also super affordable and has great price and the servers are always really fast and friendly. But 100% come for the grilled muffins. Also love their specialty lattes. I always try something different this time. I had a really yummy Matcha. My friend and I love to come here as a group because they’re fast and yummy. Honestly, it’s a super unassuming place in a strip mall, but the breakfast is amazing. Definitely get there early though it can get packed pretty quickly.

Yelp
I'm usually not one to write reviews but felt compelled to do it today. stumbled upon this place thanks to Google search. I had the Philly Omelette which was amazing and my friend had the CFS Breakfast and both were amazing, no wonder every seat in the house was taken! we'll be back! The service was great and I loved the ambiance the place brought.

Yelp
I've always loved coming to this cafe for years. Their food tastes great, come at good prices and staff are friendly. Just be ready to wait for a table, but it's totally worth it. I highly recommend.

Yelp
My husband and I came here this past Sunday. We put our names on the waitlist in google while we drove down there, and I am not sure if that was what set off the chain of events to follow. When we got there, I double checked that we were on the waitlist, and once I confirmed, I went over to the counter to order some iced coffee to drink while we waited. The woman working there gave me the cold shoulder and seemed irritated that I was ordering coffee, which I didn't understand. The space was really small, and I didn't know where to stand to not be in the way while I waited. Maybe that was the problem? After being called for our table we were pointed to a table, and for about 5-ish minutes, we weren't given menus, drinks, or anything and no one came to check on us. I got this weird feeling like I wasn't welcome, and I didn't know why. When someone finally did come to take our orders, she seemed annoyed, and when we asked for a glass of water or a side of salsa (which seem like pretty benign requests) we felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. The redeeming quality was the food. The pancakes were some of the best I have had in a while, and the hash browns and bacon were crisp and well seasoned. The food might make it worth a return trip, but probably only for takeout. We didn't realize how much the service would impact our experience, but no one wants to feel unwanted when spending money somewhere.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this cafe by chance. Thinking it was a coffee shop, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a diner. It's a local, small business that was more than happy to support. I say this because the breakfast taco I had was tasty and filling. The eggs were cooked to perfection and fluffy, not dried out. The tortilla was fresh and soft. The caramel iced latte was so big I had to get most of it to go. Just the right about of ice and caramel flavoring. Cute little place with counter seating and basic diner layout. Prompt and friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is just homey and good. I was seated quickly and was greeted immediately. The food is affordable and just tastes good. We ordered the ultimate migas, French toast side, and corn beef hash. Everything was fresh, the food was seasoned, and I'll definitely be back here again.

Yelp
We live in south Austin and occasionally have the chance to come north to this gem of a place. Their food is solid diner fare, the service is personable and thorough, and the atmosphere is neighborhood friendly. Thank you for being part of the Austin diner scene, Cafe Java!
google avatar

Bobby H.

Yelp
I have a deep, deep love of this place. If you're looking for diner food in Austin, this is the closest you're going to find in this wasteland of diner-less Texas. Pancakes are on-point and the staff is nice.
google avatar

Marianne N.

Yelp
Okay....so WOW! I was skeptical about this place. Felt that the photos didn't look delicious enough. Oh how wrong I was! So happy we went. It was amazing! 100% kid friendly and the staff had no issues with substitutions or even bat an eye! The place is small and loud so kids don't have to be quiet. I'm surprised they don't have a Costco size restaurant because it would be packed! The food was crazy amazing and so much! My husband and I eat a lot but both of us had tons more f food left on our plate but were so full! I'd come back here hand over hand if I lived in Austin.
google avatar

Christina L.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! When I saw the page on Yelp, I thought it might be too 'sit down' for me to go in and grab a coffee, but I saw they had caramel macchiatos on the menu so I stopped on on. WOW! They are friendly, efficient, have great selection and prices..... plus the coffee is freaking fantastic. We're visiting, so I only got to try their Caramel Macchiato, Vanilla Latte and Caramel Con Panna... all were so good! A must try!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious. Hash Browns super crispy like we asked for. Food came out quick even though they were busy. Great experience overall. Highly recommend if you're looking for something easy for breakfast.
google avatar

Nasiah R.

Yelp
This is a phenomenal place to grab a delicious meal. The service was great, the server was informative and friendly, and the food came out fast. We had to wait for a table but we were seated pretty promptly. We went on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. I had an iced cafe mocha and the Ultimate Migas. My mocha was rich and refreshing. The migas were hot and fresh and packed a punch. The jalapeños gave the migas quite a kick but the food was delicious. For sure one of the best places to grab brunch. I'm sure their other foods are also delicious. I'll be back.

Yelp
One of favorite breakfast spots in North Austin. The service makes you feel like you're part of the family. Very cozy inside with plenty of large booths and seating. Food is always delicious. They have daily specials and mix it up. They also have a wide range of coffees to enjoy and purchase to take home. A must do stop if you're in the area!
google avatar

Luz C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere & friendly Austin vibe. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. I ordered the 2x2x2 and it was phenomenal-eggs tasted great, multigrain pancakes were delicious, and the bacon was crispy. My boyfriend ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and they had a good amount of chocolate chips on the inside. Cade Java was wonderful breakfast spot and it was a great representation of southern hospitality.
google avatar

Eunice K.

Yelp
The food was very delicious, and it was quite cheap for the quantity of food I received! There is a variety of choices to choose from, and at least from what my parents said, the coffee was smooth and delicious (I don't like coffee, so it still tasted bad to me). The food was a bit heavy for me, but I'm not used to eating out for breakfast or brunch. The server was also very polite and courteous, and the service was pretty quick despite a lot of customers. The interior was very cozy, and because the barista brewed the coffee near the entrance, I could smell the coffee immediately, which I enjoy.
google avatar

Kristin G.

Yelp
It's your typical diner experience. Delicious food and coffee, but long wait so just be prepared for that. I've been coming to Cafe Java for many years.
google avatar

Russell B.

Yelp
We just love Cafe Java! They have captured the old Austin vibe and it makes for a very enjoyable time. The servers all pitch in to create a welcoming atmosphere. Coffee refills are free and free-flowing. I usually get the Java Plate which is a great deal and includes tea or coffee! I don't know how they can be so lucky, but all the employees are smiling and ready to make you happy. There can be a wait on weekend mornings but it's well worth your time.

Sara P.

Yelp
I'll give it 3 stars. The food I did receive through my Uber eats order was good. They didn't include my hashbrowns with my Sausage Platter. They also didn't give us any silverware? I guess they only have great service if you dine in.

Yelp
Listen, I wanted to gatekeep this place. It is so good. This is a treasure, a gem, some of the best and cheapest breakfast food you can get. I love Cafe Java, I come here... more than I would like to admit. The staff is overwhelmingly friendly and it is always busy but we always get our food in a timely manner. One thing, there is a greater credit card charge that is passed onto the customer, so bring cash if you want to save some money. I really enjoy this place. Their coffee is great and their special, the hill country breakfast, is phenomenal. I usually get some variation of omelets from here and I love it every time. The staff is wonderful, and they really brighten your day. I also think that any menu item you get (breakfast food wise because I can attest to that) is delicious. I am such a fan. The ambience is eclectic and fun, but the lighting is a little too strange for some reason. It is maximalist in a silly, fun way and you will wonder why the lighting is both too bright and too dim at the same time. Overall, highly recommend.
google avatar

Vicky N.

Yelp
I love this place. You can't visit or live in Austin and not once go to cafe java. The staff are always so friendly and the food never misses. I usually go here for breakfast or brunch on the weekend, and I almost always get the eggs benedict with queso. I think it's called huevos benny? Not too sure; I usually describe it to a server and they know what I'm talking about lol. I don't think it's always on the menu... Anyway, love the food and vibes. There's usually a wait, typically not more than 30 mins. Parking lot has lots of spots. There's not much to explore around the plaza so if you have to wait, be prepared for that.
google avatar

Fenil S.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast places I've ever been to! It's got all the fresh food and delicious coffee. I tried California Omelette which was very good with soft omelette filled with avocado, veggies and cheese. Garden Burger has a really good patty, and especially for vegetarians that's a huge plus. The staff was super friendly; would listen to your order patiently and provide good suggestions. The ambiance is very cozy and has a lot of decorations. Cleanliness is well maintained.

Danielle E.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for a few years & every single time it hits! Food is bomb, especially the French toast! The food isn't the reason I'm writing this review though. Every single person who works here & even at other locations are always in such a good mood & seem very happy with their job. You've got a forever customer!
google avatar

Yelp
I could probably write a PhD dissertation on why places like this are a national treasure, but I'll try to keep things relatively brief and save my Nobel prize for later. Java is a real, authentic breakfast diner by practically every available metric known to man: the kitschy decor of random paintings scattered throughout, the really good quality drip coffee served in traditional mugs, the absolutely insane portions of great quality food they serve, the crispy top to all the hashbrowns, and just overall friendly and quick service as well. I almost always get their ultimate migas plate and it's never disappointed as the photo will show. I somehow always manage to finish the plate off just because it's that damn good. If you haven't come here yet please do, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Lindsey A.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, it's like a meal you would eat from the house. Homemade if you will. The atmosphere was really busy, a lot of people. I'd suggest to join the waitlist before leaving the house on the weekend. The coffee was delicious! Along with the Banana pancakes!
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Walked in and snagged the last table; that's how you know it's good if there are no tables left. Was thinking about studying here, thank goodness we didn't because this is NOT a study cafe. I got the sourdough jalapeño jack burger and boyfriend got the chicken sandwich. No fries which was disappointing but the hash browns was pretty good. ITS A LOT of food especially for the price. A very homey and local feel, very nice people.
google avatar

Omar M.

Yelp
Service is usually hit or miss here. Today was definitely a miss. Three misses to be exact. First, when I inquired about how much their mugs were, one of the servers just pointed out the $17 T-shirts as if they were the same item of equal price. At the very least, he could have asked someone to get us the price of the mugs. Simple enough, right? Second, I asked for Oat milk for my coffee and the same genius gave me regular creamer! Those of you who are lactose intolerant you know you'll have a bad day if you go with regular creamer. Third, as I was checking out, I felt the need to address the issue with the cashier and he simply chalked it up to be a "language barrier" issue instead of a training or management issue. Ahhh, the convenience of NOT taking responsibility and playing the blame game... Shifting the blame is so much easier, isn't it? The, "It's not my job" route. Well, just know that poor training and lazy/weak leadership will hurt your ability to provide solid customer service. So call it what you want -whether it's a language barrier issue, management, or simply hiring people who can understand basic English. Ensure your employees understand their jobs and have a basic understanding of product knowledge. Understanding some restaurant lingo in English would help too btw.

Yelp
Awesome! I'll keep this one short. It was great all around. Awesome food, service, wish it was near my home. Chloe was our server and she was awesome. Note to management: your pancakes and waffles are so good they deserve real maple syrup. I will pay extra for real maple syrup. That's a thing. Other places do it.
google avatar

Kristina R.

Yelp
Cafe Java has the warm, local charm of pre-gentrification Austin. Service is similar to a diner, except with an old country vibe. It's a really great brunch spot with cheap prices, large portions, rotating specials, and lots of options! Waitresses are down-to-earth, and will make conversation as if you've been a regular for years. I'm personally a big fan of all their border platters (especially the chorizo) and iced chai lattes. They serve coffee from Costa Rica, as well.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
A small diner on Metric with charm. Cafe Java has delicious food and loads of smiles, but when our bellys are full why wouldn't we be smiling. There are several different options on the menu of breakfast plates as well as lunch entrees. I chose to go with the classic called the Java Breakfast. I posted the pic below. My eggs were cooked as I ordered, over medium with just the right amount of yellow flowing. The bacon was crisp and very good. I had sour dough toast, although there was a few different options with this. It had butter already on the toast but I added some grape jelly. I'm sure you could get it dry if you asked. I got the standard diner drip coffee, however they do have several of the fancy coffees in both the hot and cold versions. The service was fast and very pleasant. Parking is shared among several businesses but ample. They even have art for sale hanging on the walls if you are interested. The establishment is a diner so not fancy. What it lacks in the fanciness it makes up in heart. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy your experience if you give it a try. The rest is up to you.
google avatar

Dolly N.

Yelp
This is a local breakfast classic! There is always a line/waitlist but they know what they are doing and can get their hungry customers in and out with no issues. Just make sure you put your name on the list and they'll come out and call your name when your table is ready. I always start with their bottomless coffee and it's always a new kind which they'll tell you in case you're in a different coffee mood. Breakfast is my go-to option. Look at their daily specials or go for the tried and true options. You honestly can't go wrong.
google avatar

Tae K.

Yelp
Cafe Java is a great neighborhood diner. It has been a while since I've been since I moved away. Kind staff, quick service and good breakfast. You first walk in for breakfast and there are herds of people trying to get a table in the tiny space. There menu has your standard diner fare, but I like breakfast the most. I ordered the hill country it's so much food for roughly $11. 2 eggs, 2 sausages, hash browns and bust hits and gravy...Their food is made fresh and it's solid breakfast. My friends got breakfast tacos. They are cheap and loaded with toppings. You can probably ask for a spare tortilla and make a separate tacos. Overall a nice homey spot in north Austin.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming here for years! It is our favorite go to breakfast spot in all of Austin. You get real hash browns! The service is always friendly and welcoming. They showcase local art for purchase. They fill up fast but have a quick turnaround so it's worth the wait. Alway, always order a Whole Lotta Love Latte. Make sure you get your stamp card if you come back, each coffee equals a stamp. They sell coffee beans and muffins at the counter.
google avatar

Tosha H.

Yelp
Happened upon this awesome place for breakfast! Absolutely LOVED it! The service, the vibe, the food, the portions, the prices all wonderful! We had the migas and the Java plate. Both were delicious! Definitely on our favorites list now and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Ralph S.

Yelp
The breakfast here is the best. Fresh ingredients and excellent coffee. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The place wasn't too crowded this morning. We walked right in and got a booth.
google avatar

Brooke P.

Yelp
Second visit, first review after another great experience. Patrick was our server and greeted us promptly. This place is always packed! Kind of a hidden gem in an older strip mall. Strong awesome coffee (given the name!) and I had a London fog latte. All alternate milks offered. Portions huge. I had avocado toast and my sister had the special huevos rancheros with verde and pulled pork which she devoured! When we are in Austin we will always seek this out.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
What wasn't to like? Free coffee while you wait, helpful service, very very reasonable prices. The "whole Lotta love" latte was a great way to start and I ordered their eggs benedict Sunday special. I refrained from locking my plate. My wife ordered the apple pancake in 1x1x1 (pancake, protein, egg) as everything was highly customizable. Michael, our waitress, was patient, kind and prompt. We'll be back!
google avatar

Raquel M.

Yelp
Y'all have to gooooo! Okay, I could tell y'all how good this place was and how awesome our server was but y'all just need to go, haha! We did call ahead (2 of us) and we were seated right away. The owner of the cafe was there. Super awesome dude. Our server was sooo cool. She helped us figure out what allll was on the menu, recommended different options, and was incredibly attentive. Parking: easy! Cost: super good! Especially with such a popular spot Food: DANG SO GOOD! My friend is visiting this weekend and this is where I'm taking her! Coffee: 6/10 but that's just because I'm beyond picky. It was a bit too sweet for me.
google avatar

Lydia H.

Yelp
Literally the best breakfast spot in town. I would choose Cafe Java over any fancy breakfast place any day! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming too, that it just brightens my day! I always get the chorizo plate -- it's the most delicious combo of beans, eggs, and buttery tortillas. They have so many options, that I've yet to try. Someday, I'll eat my way through the menu! They don't do reservations, so be sure to show up early to grab a table!
google avatar

Yelp
EXCELLENT!!! Amazing meatloaf. Juicy 1/3 pound burgers. Coffee game is strong. Staff is wonderful. Ample parking in lot. Does get busy at peak times. Use google maps to see off peak times. Two little things. 1. They do not serve any fries to go with the burgers. Boggles the mind! 2. There are two very inferior speakers playing radio station. Sounds like a cat farting through a tin can. Can we please get some music that is free of commercials? An XM radio subscription could be streamed via smartphone to a cheap bluetooth equipped amp to drive the existing speakers. Use any old smartphone and leave the charging cable connected. Hey management give me a free meal and I might just come show you in exchange! :-)

Yelp
I love this place only downside is there is always a wait and the parking is difficult at times . If you are a fan of breakfast and you haven't been here I'd definitely suggest you try it . Tucked away in between a Chevron in a shopping center you will see all kinds of people eagerly waiting out front to get their turn at some breakfast classics . Pancakes , omelettes and coffee of all kinds will have you covered for all your breakfast needs from 7 am till 9pm 7 days a week hours only change for Holidays so be sure to go online if your not sure . Cafe Java also has amazing specials that change frequently in a range of variety such as Pulled Pork enchiladas to toffee walnut French toast! Get them while you can when you see something that sparks your interest because it will not be on the menu forever and you'll be sorry when you see the person next to you eating what you could have had. The staff at Cafe Java is friendly and the environment is kind of loud but easy going . It's a fun neighborhood eatery everyone should try when they move to Austin or are just busting and need a brunch breakfast spot .

Charlie D.

Yelp
The pancake special was really good. The service by Chloe was extra awesome. Always makes the meal so much better with a server that knows how to keep up with you without disturbing the business conversation. The place was big enough that you could hold a discussion without having to yell. I will definitely go back when I am in that part of the town.

Yelp
Love the service, this is an awesome place to come eat if you are looking for something local and family owned.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I don't give out 5 star reviews too often. This diner is in a strip mall next to a gas station, so from the outside you really wouldn't expect much. But I've been several times now and it's one of my favorite breakfast spots in Austin. The staff is friendly and there's parking, which is always a plus for breakfast/brunch. They have rotating specialty coffee drinks and all the ones that I've tried so far have been good. I've tried a few different breakfast meals here but today I got a breakfast taco on a flour tortilla with refried beans, cheese, potato, and sausage. The potato is actually just their hash-browns, but I like that much more than the home fries some places use. The salsa is pretty good too. I know Austin is known for breakfast tacos and I wouldn't say these are the best breakfast tacos I've ever had but they do the job and satisfy that craving. The other thing to add, and probably the most important in my opinion, is the grilled muffins. Yes, grilled muffins. It may not sound like much but don't knock it until you try it. I think over the course of several visits I've tried every flavor they have. The blueberry muffin, then the cinnamon (when they have it), are my favorites. It's important that the muffin be cut into thirds, as halves doesn't quite have the same impact. These grilled muffins are insanely good and definitely the main reason I keep coming back. I've brought several friends here and the muffins have always been the best part. I wish they had a south Austin location, but that may be for the best or I'd be there too often.

Yelp
Great all around! Food, service with a smile. Cool decor! Great way to start your day!
google avatar

Miya T.

Yelp
Can't go wrong unless you go too late! The wait could be long but hey what do you expect from such a great place. The cafe is all about hood Java and good good!!! The western omelette with double veggies and add spinach (double). Yes lord!!! My go to almost every Saturday morning and I absolutely love it and the people! Great place.
google avatar

Arianna M.

Yelp
My boyfriend introduced me to this place a couple years ago and it's one of our favorite small diners to visit still. The cafe is more of a mom and pops style diner but do not let the size fool you! This place has some of the friendliest staff members & best breakfast food for the price! Ms. Lali is our favorite server she's always recommending great iced coffees and has definitely made our visits special. If you're looking for a simple breakfast date with friends, family or a lover I highly recommend!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my Ultimate Migas. They had all the ingredients I like including chorizo. I believe I get the same things here in Arlington but they are still called Migas. Sometimes all you have to do is ask for modifications to get what you want. Most businesses are agreeable to changes. The service was very friendly!! They were very busy and that's a good good sign. Maybe they'll consider expanding. When I'm back in Austin I'll stop in again. Maybe try some of the other menu items.
google avatar

Sankit G.

Yelp
This is a type of place where you can go every morning and you'll find almost the same people. This seemed like a local favorite among my parents' age group. The staff was pretty helpful in suggesting the dishes. We got a garden burger with side of cottage cheese and peaches, a California omelette with side of hashbrowns, and a cafe mocha. The service is fast and the food is tasty and affordable. I really liked the burger and the omelette. I was a bit unhappy with the cottage cheese and peaches, the peaches seemed straight out of can whereas I had an expectation of fresh ones. Nevertheless the food is very tasty and I'll visit this place again.

Yelp
It was a looooooong wait. They said it was going be 45 minutes, it ended up being over an hour. But when we got in there they were sooo friendly as a staff and efficient. This place had amazing service. The host was super friendly and us comfortable with the wait. When we sat down and ordered the food came out within 10 minutes! Hot and fresh!!! The whole table was pleasantly stunned. Everything was good. The coffee was on point without any cream. I should've bought some beans to go. The wait staff worked as a team keeping the energy up and they kept the tables from looking junky. Overall we had a great time. The prices were all manageable as well, not too expensive for the plates.

Yelp
Requested a consult to update wills. Received a Yelp message that firm could help saying to contact at (phone number). I left a message a week ago but no one has returned my call.
