The 18 Best Restaurants in Budapest, Hungary | Eater

"Drawing a melting pot of local intellectuals and artists, Jedermann is a cafe, a bistro, and a jazz club fused into one inviting space. The slim menu includes breakfast foods and standard bistro fare, as well as a selection of midrange Hungarian wines to enjoy with the live jazz performances on Friday and Saturday evenings (no concerts in the summer). Ambience is the pull, but the bundáskenyér, Hungary’s savory take on French toast, and the scrambled eggs “with everything” will not disappoint." - Tas Tobias

A rare time capsule that actually lives and breathes ** Forget "cozy" – this place is beautifully rough around the edges. Mismatched lamps, worn furniture, zero pretense. It feels like walking into a Budapest jazz bar from the '80s where time simply stopped. And here's the magic: people actually talk to each other. No one's buried in their phone. Just real conversations, drinks, and some of the best live jazz I've heard in years. The menu is surprisingly flexible – vegetarian-friendly with most dishes available with or without meat. Fair prices for Budapest, and the service? Incredibly warm and welcoming, even for those of us fumbling through Hungarian. They make you feel like a regular from your first visit. This is one of those increasingly rare places that doesn't try to be anything other than what it is – and that's exactly why it works. Top-notch experience. I'll be back.

A cozy and welcoming jazz café, with some tasty local and international food. I had their gulyás (I'm a big fan of this dish) and it was excellent!!!

Café Jedermann is hands down my favorite spot in Budapest. we went a few times, sometimes just for a beer, other times for a bite, and every visit was a great experience. the atmosphere is effortlessly cool and cozy, with music that always matched our taste. The soups are seriously good and incredibly cheap...a perfect match for the low beer prices. and if you’re into Jazz, this place is a must. we were lucky enough to catch a concert by the amazing Bálint Gyémánt Trio, and it was unforgettable. *If you want to see one of their two weekend shows, definitely book at least a week in advance - tickets go fast* Even when the place was full, the staff was super nice and really attentive. there were usually only two waitresses and one bartender, but they always managed to keep things running smoothly, never making us wait too long. Really, really good staff. Even if you can’t get a spot for a concert, it’s worth coming here on any other night just to soak in the vibe. I know I’ll be back, and if you’re in Budapest, I can’t recommend it enough...

Lovely jazz club not far from Budapest downtown. Live music, delicious kitchen, warm atmosphere and kind staff. Reservation needed for table because it’s usually full house. Recommended place for music and jazz lovers.

One of the best jazz bars in Budapest, always crowded in the evenings, but today we came for breakfast. The morning is relatively quiet, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The brunch is delicious, with generous portions and reasonable prices, and the service is very friendly! Highly recommended!
