When I say everything was so FLAVORFUL and delicious! It’s no wonder they’re always busy. Definitely check into the waitlist before heading over there because they are pretty busy the entire time. Our waiter was super friendly, attentive and quick. Truly authentic Latin eatery would absolutely come back 😍😍😍

A coveted location for Sunday brunch the best advice is to get in a virtual line and hope. We did and still opted to get our food to go. Luckily, a to-go order doesn't mean you are going to be short changed on the service or the food. When we realized our preference would be place an order to-go they offered to place our order. We started we were going to do it online, but they stated we would probably get our food faster with a in real life order. That statement was appreciated. True to his word our packed to-go was ready in the time frame stated. Then there were the little things like plenty of utensils. There were a few extra sauces that went with the meals. The little thing that meant so much is writing the name of the entree on the box. I know that seems minor, but when you have several containers to go pass out it made it easier not to have to open every single one. While it would have been nice to sit down, the generous servings and the great to-go service means we will be back.

May 16, 2025 Friday Previous plans didn't work out so we pulled up to Cafe Kacao a couple hours before close, aka their busiest time. We managed to get a table within 10 minutes, which I believe is all luck. I highly recommend joining the waitlist at least an hour prior, some people waited on the list for 2 hours. The french toast was incredible, with a crunchy border, and their coffee is incredible. Highly recommend at least trying this place once! Our waiter was lovely and attentive despite being so busy.

The food at this restaurant is very good, The staff is very friendly and welcoming, providing thorough service that provides a very warm experience. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere complements the overall enjoyment experience. This restaurant is very popular, so be sure to get your name on the waiting list prior to going there. The wait may can be up to 2 hours. I highly recommend this restaurant and will go again .

Moved away from area and really missed this place. Two years later I was able to make it back and happy to report the food, service and atmosphere is as good (if not better than I remember it)! Cafe Kacao doesn’t disappoint and has even innovated their drinks… this is new (at least for me)!!

Google
They open at 7:30 am. And fill up fast. No reservations made until there is a line waiting. But first come first serve. Prices are a bit pricey. But coffe is excellent. Menu is heavy Latin flavors. But they will work with adding eggs, bacon, etc. Large portions.  Young people at front door are kind and patient. Our waitress was awesome. Very loud as cafe very small. We had from French toast to huevos rancheros. When slammed orders come out sporadically, not a full table at the same time. When busy the kitchen may be a bit chaotic. All very good but probably our only trip.

The wait was worth it, you MUST have patience! I wanted to go here for my belated birthday lunch. Saul (spelling?)was our waiter and was amazing even though it was overwhelmingly busy. He gave great recommendations too! He even kept the water filled without asking. Started off with a hot Abuelita Latte had an amazing flavor, not too strong and not too sweet. The beautuliful bird on top was a lovely addition! I tried the Vaca Frita Pupusas, my dad tried the Cuban Burrito and my brother had the Frijolada! The pupusas were delicious! My brother enjoyed his even without an extra protein. Dad loved the shredded beef with the onion in his burrito. The verde salsa was also a hit with my dad and brother. Plan on waiting hours for a table. Get in line on Yelp and then you will receive texts when it's time. Again, have patience but it's totally worth it!

If there was 10 stars this place deserves it, amazing service amazing drinks amazing food! We drove from Tulsa, OK to try something new and we saw this place all over TikTok and was over and beyond my expectations! Ask for Martin to be your server he brings the atmosphere to the restaurant!

Yelp
Most amazing food, coffee, drinks only thing that sucks is that wait but if you have time it's well worth it

Yelp
Delicioso, excelente servicio, todos súper amables y atentos. Es mi Segunda vez que vengo aquí . Me encanta este restaurante súper recomendado

Yelp
Food is amazing and especially love the pancakes! It's hard to go during three weekends because of the wait, but weekdays for breakfast or brunch are great.

Yelp
First shot at Guatamalan food. Place was hopping at 8:30 on a Friday. Ordered a double cubano coffee. Really good! For my meal l, the waitress, who was wonderful, recommended a Cobanero omlette with Pork The serving was huge. It came with potatoes, beans and tortillas Tortillas were normal tortillas. The potatoes had some seasoning and cheese. Cooked to perfection. The beans had good flavor! As for the omlette, unbelievable. Meat was tender, good flavor and had a little kick. If you in OKC. This is a must. Get in early cause this place aint a secret.

Yelp
Join the wait list in advance! They are busy and the dining room is small so the wait times are long. Once seated the ambiance inside is tropical, cute and vibrant. The food was hot and delicious!! I ordered the cafe brulee latte and the Vaca Frita Pupusas with extra hollandaise. My husband got the carne asada

Yelp
Café Kacao isn't just the best brunch spot in OKC; it's one of the best brunches I've had anywhere in the U.S. Everything, from the quality of the food to the coffee and service, has never let us down. The only downside is the wait times. I really wish they accepted reservations. Even if we join the waitlist around 7-8 a.m., we still usually have to check in and wait another 30 minutes to an hour. The place is always busy, and it can feel pretty cramped inside. However, the food makes it worthwhile every time. I love everything here! I highly recommend the Cuban omelet, the Tikal, the Carne Asada, the fruit/nutella pancakes, and the banana Nutella coffee.

Yelp
First off, get on the Waitlist, or you'll be waiting forever. This is a very busy restaurant and for good reasons. Great food, great service. The atmosphere is alright, you're really just looking at a large room and people everywhere. The food is outstanding and the portions are large enough to share. We ordered the vaca frita y pupusas with a side of plantains. Our friends got the pupusas so we could taste the refried beans and the breakfast burrito ranchero which could feed three. Prices are competitive especially if you share. Parking is limited but there's some across the street.

Yelp
Visiting from California. Wanted a brunch place and found this restaurant in Yelp. Food pictures looked delicious so decided we would try it. Joined the wait list on Yelp and glad we did. Got seated within minutes from our arrival. The staff is very pleasant and helpful with suggestions for first timers. The place was busy and can obviously loud, but it just shows you what a popular place this is. The portions to any of their entrees are a lot so we ended up sharing what we ordered: Tikal and Pupusas breakfast. We also ordered blood orange, chamomile tea and Japanese matcha with coconut milk. Everything was so tasty and very happy with our order Sadly, we probably won't be back to visit Oklahoma anytime soon, but highly recommend this place.

Yelp
The Papaya smoothie was probably the best smoothie I've ever had. The house-made whipped cream was amazing! I ate the breakfast cilantro burrito and it was very good. The mix of pico and green sauce with the cilantro made a great combination. It was so big I had to take half home for later. My husband had the vaca frita pupusa and enjoyed it. The wait time was extensive (an hour and a half on a Friday at 11:30AM), but the service was good once we were inside. It was also extremely loud inside so difficult to have a conversation at times. But despite the wait and the ambiance, the food was delicious.

Yelp
Must eat here! Easter Sunday Brunch was great. Yes busy, but we waited until 2ish to get on wait list. I ordered my Hot Chocolate and it came out not with my Bear design but a Cafe Kacao topper. Doesn't stay hot long so you do have to down it. Burrito Ranchero made with chicken is still our go to. It's big filled with black beans, eggs, chunks of potatoes, your meat choice,in soft flour tortilla. Pour the green sauce they bring you on top. We are not shy, so bottle is usually almost empty when we are done. Sometimes we share if we order something extra or French Toast. We've had a couple different items but always come back to Burrito. French Toast is so good with a crunchy coating. Bananas, berries, and Strawberries on side with Carmel sauce.. It's Dessert, so you may want to split it too. Great presentation! Most speak the language here so always wonder what the conversation is at the tables next to you. They are small and sooo close together so you may need to caution your spouse on what he may talk about! If not you may be giving him the look....lol, I did. Service is good, parking ? Lol sorry for people that live close on street. Come as you are atmosphere but use the Yelp app.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are road tripping and we found this place. Had the best reviews in OKC and honestly it lived up to them. The ambiance was nice. Super cute inside. We were able to walk up and get seats at the bar fairly quickly. Our waitress, the manager, and the baristas were all super nice and helpful. The food was amazing! I recommend getting the omelette ranchero with cochinita pibil! Delicious. Abuelita Latte was perfect too, not too sweet or milky.

Yelp
I've been here a decade ago and recently came with a few girlfriends for brunch on a Wednesday. First off, get on the waitlist. Even on a weekday at 1 pm there's a wait. Weekend? Expect a 2-3 hour wait. Waitlist is available on Yelp or their website. Second, your entire party must be there to check in and then you will get the next available table if you are first in line. Third, small parking lot so carpool if possible. First thing I noticed when we got seated is the decor changed. Our waiter said they did a major renovation a few years back and everything did look shiny and new. Same cook though. That was a question we had to ask! Their menu is on their QR code and most of the menu items has photos which was a nice touch. We opted for the cobanero. This is a fluffy omelet with a spicy kick. Highly recommend this for all! Another item we ordered was the crispy motuleno. Solid option but not as excellent as the omelet. We ordered the breakfast cilantro burrito. This is hearty and easily shareable. I did wish this had more sauce and I asked for more but noticed on my check I was charged 75 cents but they gave me enough to when I had to take leftover which was half of the burrito I had enough sauce to take as well. We also ordered the mango pancake and that was fluffy and a not too sweet dessert for the table. Overall, I do plan on coming back because there are tons of other items that I wanted to try on the menu. Cocktails available as well!

Yelp
Always a wonderful time at cacao ! I'd highly recommend The Hulk or Chapin those are my go to favorites anytime Im able to get in. It'd be really cool if they would expand! :-D

Yelp
Cafe Kacao crushes it in terms of flavor, presentation, and Central American cuisine. Seriously. Their Guatemalan Mosh was outstanding. Mosh is like oatmeal but packed with flavor, cinnamon and more liquid. It can be enjoyed out of the mug. Tikal here is a flank steak, egg, beans, and plantain plate with pickled jalapeños and carrots. It is excellent. I looove the plantains and beans together, a classic combo filled with umami. It's also nice being able to sample a little bit of everything and leaving satisfied. I also enjoyed their coffee because it hit all the marks of great coffee without it being the standard run-of-the-mill watered-down Sysco brew. Great ambiance and service. This place is excellent and overall a nice stop. Worth the visit!!

Yelp
Still one of the best breakfast spots in OKC!! Love the chilaquiles as it's my go toooo but tried the Wild Berry Pancakes this time! It doesn't come with syrup but with a condensed milk sauce with berry jam(?) it was delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I've never tried using the wait time feature on Yelp before coming to this cute cafe but luckily we didn't have to, as my friends and I arrived before 8am and were seated right away! Right away, you're greeted with bright tropical decor everywhere and peep the beautiful mural featuring Guatemala's finest features outside if you're having to wait for a coveted table. The parking lot situation is also pretty sparse for the crowd they get, and even though I got there before prime brunch hours, I had to park at the overflow lot across the street. The food and drink options are diverse and everything sounded and looked so good, but my table ended up getting almost everything that our lovely server recommended, which was the Tikal, french toast, and vaca fritas + pupusas. WOW we loved everything and thought the flavors of savory and sweet complimented each other perfectly which made sharing these dishes family style a no-brainer. I also got a horchata latte and tried my friend's mimosa and both were delicious and noted that the champagne was pretty strong haha. I'm stoked to come back and try even more dishes and coffee since they have a verrry extensive menu in both domains. A sweet touch at the end was offering Guatemala-centric pins you can buy as well as cute postcards featuring the beautiful national bird, the quetzal, that of course we had to take home.

Yelp
Guatemalan food is always a win. This place is great. No reservations but definitely get on the waitlist early. It's generally up to 3-4 hour wait. Lively space.

Crystal P.

Yelp
Our food was SO good! We came because I saw Cafe Kacao constantly being recommended in Facebook groups and had to try it out for ourselves! It did not disappoint! Inside was so cute, our waitress was so nice, and the food was delicious, hot, and fresh! Will definitely be back to try more!

Davon M.

Yelp
This is the best food in OKC hands-down! You'll have to get up early because they don't do reservations and the waitlist can be several hours long. The service is great and the vibes are always great.
google avatar

Teaira J.

Yelp
Every dish you get from Cafe Kacao is beyond fantastic and now it seems like everyone in OKC is aware which leads to a long waitlist and a noisy inside. If you can get past those two things and you like flavor and something different, come give it a try and taste for yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for a while and I knew that it gets stupid crowded on the weekends, but I was not not expecting it to be such a tiny restaurant so the wait times make sense. It is very cute with beautiful murals outside and the interior has mint green banquets and pink walls with hibiscus flowers; a beautiful bar with pink tiles and rattan light fixtures. It gets really loud so it's hard to have a conversation. They offer a nice selection of Guatemalan entrees from Desayuno Chapin (typical Guatemalan breakfast with eggs, refried black beans and fried plantains), Pupusas (which is really a dish from El Salvador, but often eaten in Guatemala), Chile Rellenos (stuffed with salpicón meat and bread crumbs and not cheese), etc. I must say that while it is typical, it's also Americanized or should I say Oklahomanized. Lots of coffee drinks with rich milk and loaded with sugar, pancakes and French toast loaded with heavy syrups and sauces. It's also not the cheapest breakfast place. For my brother and I (two drinks, two entrees and we split the French toast to go) it was $88 plus tip so really $100 total.

Yelp
Omg yes. Everything about this place is amazing. I've been twice and let's just say that if I ever go back I'll be going. The burrito is amazing and stuffed with delicious plantains. The spicy marg is amazing and churros were delish. The homemade whipped cream was so light and perfect

Yelp
We stopped here on Tuesday around 10:00. We were lucky not to have to wait because it was packed! We were immediately sat and were serviced right away by Jesus. He was quick and frequently checked in. It was busy, but we were placed in the corner, so the ambiance wasn't too loud for us! Horchata Latte was delicious. I always appreciate the latte art! I went with the Omolette Ranchero, and it was abundant for my stomach! The Cobonero sauce added some more variety. The plantains were a nice touch in place of American fruit. My wife and I picked meals and wanted pancakes, so we went with the Wild Berry Pancakes as a dessert. We were not hungry for dinner! They were super fluffy, and I appreciate the latte art also appearing on them. They were tasty and beautiful! The restaurant felt like a fun mix of authentic and modern, and it was delightful to make this visit on our road trip!

Yelp
The service was fabulous and they were so accommodating with my nephew being with us . It's loud enough to be comfortable with a little one not being the star of the Noise show . All of the food was absolutely delicious . I'm coming back to get something else. I whole heartedly feel that all of the food will be off the charts 10 outta 10 . We were craving this and will be revisiting when we visit Oklahoma again . Put this on your to do list in OK.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute place! For all that is holy, join the waitlist. Join it first thing in the morning. We joined the waitlist on a Sunday around 11:30 and ended up eating around 3p. They're super nice about it though and will keep serving food for everyone on the waitlist. Service was quick and food was delicious. Portions are pretty large so four of us shared two dishes. Everything was delicious.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
At Cafe Kakao just after 10AM on a Sunday. Long outside wait, folks are seated on the parking lot ground along the building. Folks just by the front door and inside. Spillage parking is just across the street and there is a constant steam of folks coming in. Looks to be over an hour wait at least. It may be best to try maybe during the weekday. Don't come here if you are hungry and hoping to be seated in half hour or less.

Courtney R.

Yelp
Love this place, one of my favorite brunch spots in the city!! A friend and I split the French toast and huevos rancheros! Such a fun spot!

Yelp
Maaaan, I knew this place was going to be amazing when I got on the website and read about 1-3 hour wait times and how to get in line....very thankful for their online wait list system! This place did NOT disappoint, and my Wife and I chowed down. Right off jump, the Latte was so good and creamy, and I get mine with Almond Milk which is harder to make creamy...I had 2! We had the Empanadas appetizer, a must-have, and our entrees were FANTASTIC. I was in Oklahoma visiting, but this place made me wanna move there!
google avatar

Yelp
one of the best cafe's in okc! it's been a birthday tradition of mine to go for the past few years and every time it's just as i remembered (if not better) the creme brulee latte is my fav!
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
There's a reason why this place is always so packed and they have a long wait. I finally got to go in recently and try it and I now understand why everyone loves it. The food is delicious, the drinks are incredible and the staff are really nice. My pupusas breakfast meal and a coffee cost me $27, which is a bit expensive for one person (but that is expected in this day and age.) Overall, this place is worth checking out!
google avatar

Jewellia S.

Yelp
I genuinely love going to Cafe Kacao. I love the atmosphere, decor and food. They are just always soooo freakin busy that you have to get on the waitlist almost hours in advance if you want to eat there on the weekends. Esp if you want to go on Sunday. I highly recommend going early in the morning before work if you want a chill vibe. I went once at like 7:30am and it was great!
google avatar

Tonika K.

Yelp
As always so freaking good. Being able to add myself to the waitlist on Yelp is such a time saver. Met my bestie here for lunch on Black Girl Day Off and our food and service was amazing. We split the French toast 10/10 and Carne Asada 10/10 and both had drinks. I had two pineapple margaritas and she had a hibiscus mimosa and a chelada. All of it was so good. The sitting area is a little tight but cozy. On the way out we got a picture in front of the mural.
google avatar

Luis E.

Yelp
Went there with my family and they added a 20 percent gratuity even tho there was just 5 meals ordered. There was 6 of us but one of my kids are too little to order food. Will not be going back for a while to spend $150 just for 5 meals. There was no alcohol involved either.
google avatar

Mya R.

Yelp
Always a pleasure! The Vaca Frita Papusas and a blood orange juice will always be a 10/10. Out waiter at the bar area was fast and attentive and as always, CK is one of the most beautiful authentic restaurant spaces that OKC has to offer
google avatar

Crystal F.

Yelp
Everytime we visit okc. We have to stop at one of our favorite Brunch places! Excellent coffees, lattes. Excellent food! And excellent staff! All friendly

Neva M.

Yelp
We had the most patient waiter & the food was amazing as always! I took some friends with me for their 1st time & they loved it!
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Beautiful place. Servers were outstanding. You have to go. Order the cappuccino! Going to order the Berry Pancakes. They look delish! Only issue is for a restaurant to be recommended this highly, they have no real butter. I asked for it and said they only have spread. LBA (Liquid Butter Alternative aka Margarine). And they are probably cooking with it and this product should be banned. LBA is used by Waffle House, Big biscuit and others. Hope they respond to this if this is incorrect. If I had a restaurant I would never serve margarine.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. They are a must try brunch spot. We have always enjoyed the food here

Chadly2579 ..

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Well worth the wait! Will definitely return soon and often.

Yelp
I love coming here. The food is delicious and unique. The coffee is great and fun. The atmosphere is cute and unique. The staff is very friendly. Downside, always crazy busy and crowded. Thank goodness you can get on the yelp waitlist to help with your timing, but be sure to get on early. Also prices are high. Definitely a local favorite so a must if you are visiting.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was absolutely delicious!!! It's been on my list to try for almost two years. it's always busy, but now I see why!! It's so good. From coffee ,to meals! there all good. The culture is in the food and that's what I love to taste when I'm eating. The service was amazing and the restaurant is clean . Everything was perfect!!! Belly, welly, jelly!!!
google avatar

Whitley M.

Yelp
Great food, fast service, and welcoming ambience! I will just say that they are busy and you HAVE to join the waitlist like HOURS before you want to go. I think this turns a lot of people away but it's definitely somewhere worth going!
google avatar

Kayla W.

Yelp
We tried to eat here, however the wait on a Sunday was over 2 hours. We decided to go somewhere else because of the wait. Little did we know we could have added ourselves to the waitlist using yelp! Can't wait to come back and give this fun place a try.
google avatar

Jaime B.

Yelp
Talk about a place full of flavor and pizzazz! I was visiting Oklahoma City with some friends, and we decided to hop on the waitlist to eat here. It was a 3 1/2 hour waitlist, which was absolutely crazy, but I understand now. Not only is the food fresh and full of flavor, the customer service is phenomenal and the inside is very well decorated. The vibe inside is excellent. Our server Jesus was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely pop back in again. Do know that there is limited parking, but it is not the end of the world.
google avatar

Jaylee M.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The service was even better if that's possible. My dad and I had two different burritos - they were HUGE. We couldn't finish them, but we wanted to. Our server, Saul, was so informative, kind and attentive. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Logan S.

Yelp
That was possibly the best meal I have ever had in Oklahoma City. Unbelievable. Got on the waitlist at 8:30 and didn't get in til 2:30- so plan ahead!!!!!! Our waiter was dope and service was fast and food was unreal. Could be the best espresso martini in town. 10/10
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant and some street parking. We went in shortly after they opened and we were able to get a table right away. The interior was bright and a lovely mix of colors. Our waiter was great, super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and made some good recommendations. He checked in often and he had plenty of tables he was working. I loved the blood orange juice option, it was a nice treat. Lots of good options to choose from both for food and drinks. I got the izabel with corn tortillas. The tortillas were so good and a little thicker. I loved the black beans and the combo with the chorizo (which wasn't too greasy) and the eggs. The portion size was big, I couldn't finish. They make their own green salsa and I enjoyed it.
google avatar

Maddie S.

Yelp
The service and atmosphere here are wonderful. Though you always want to jump in the virtual line first. The coffee is amazing and they have a really unique menu! Since the remodel they have gotten rid of the handful of vegetation and pescatarian options available. If you are vegetarian or pescatarian there is now only 1 appetizer and 1 savory option. Beyond that you either get pancakes or French toast. For this, they lose a point.
google avatar

Noemi A.

Yelp
Every bite was worth the hype! However, the wait was another story. We called ahead from Wichita to make a reservation, but even after driving nearly 2 hours to OKC, we were still waiting for a table upon arrival. The place is undeniably cute, but also extremely crowded and chaotic. If you've got the patience (and time), the food delivers but don't expect a quick or calm dining experience.
