Café Larue & fils is a delightful coffee haven that I stumbled upon recently, and it’s safe to say it has become my new favorite spot. The ambiance of the café is cozy and inviting, with a rustic charm that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The coffee here is simply exceptional – rich, aromatic, and brewed to perfection. Whether you’re a fan of classic espresso or fancy a more adventurous latte, they have it all, and each cup is made with care and expertise. What really sets this café apart is its mouth-watering selection of pastries and light bites. Everything is freshly made and delicious, perfect for pairing with your coffee. Their croissants are a must-try – flaky, buttery, and just divine! The staff deserves a special mention for their warm and friendly service. Enjoyed a fresh morning with the coffee and a motcha snack in this lovely cafe. I always prefer the local cafe like this than the chain restaurants like Starbucks or even Tim hortons. It is hard to tell but the atmosphere in this local cafe is warm and cozy. What’s more important, there may be some surprising items in this kind of cafe while in the chain cafe, the items are fixed.

Staff was incredibly friendly and my partner said the matcha was one of the best she’s had( and she’s a matcha addict!) Only disappointment I have is I was hoping to find a nice place to study, but they’ve covered all the outlets, so I was unable to charge my laptop to keep working. Altogether though, for a coffee date, the place seems perfect.

It could just be me. But I much prefer cafes where they let you add your own sugar and cream. I'm not clear on why some cafes insist on the barista dressing your coffee for you. Maybe hygiene? In this case, I ordered an americano with cream and raw sugar on the side. I was handed an americano with no sugar, and a bunch of foam covering the drink. Ie I couldn't see if there was cream (this will matter later on in the story). I asked for raw sugar, and was given 1 pack of white sugar... sigh. I wanted to add cream to the plain coffee I ordered. But asked for a spoon so I could first see if cream was already added. If cream wasn't there, then stirring while adding lets me judge the right amount. Lol, I was sternly told would get the spoon after she added my cream for me. Aaanyways, after I get my spoon and take a look at my drink, I realize that cream had already been added... sigh. I can't remember the last time I was scolded by someone who got my order wrong. Then imposed the worst way for me to dress my own coffee! But life is short and this review is cathartic enough. At the end, I let it go, smiled and thanked my server. Nice people. Nice ambiance, but... if something like this would put you off, try somewhere else.

My BEST coffee shop in Montreal! The barista is friendly, smiling and kind. I got a flat white. It was a nice balance between espresso and milk. I tasted sweet like caramel and after that a little bit bitter nicely. I really look forward to come back here next time!

Awesome little cafe about a 5 min walk from Jean Talon market. Really delicious dirty chai latte! Wow! Freshly baked savory/sweet treats as well! I will definitely return
