Café Leon Dore

one of the spots I tried going to last year in NY was Cafe Leon Dore for the viral Freddo Cappuccino. This time I went there was no line, and I ordered the drink I was looking for. It was foamy at the top, rich at the bottom, and the smooth texture of the milk was great, solid coffee, I would go back.

Beautiful little cafe giving off Nolita/Soho vibes. They have repainted the shop to black this year (from white) which still looked good and gave it a fresher look. We went as soon as they opened but that also meant the outdoor chairs were not yet in place and available. oh well. so inside was cute (like in both looks and size lol). There wasnt any seating so we just did a grab-and-go. There are some merchandise for sale and I was so tempted to get an espresso cup. The pastries looked great and so far Ive tried their hazelnut croissant which was so good! the chocolate chip was very yummy too! I hope i could try more soon as all looked really fresh and delicious. and since we’re here, we had to try their Freddo Cappuccino of course. I added simple syrup to mine and it was perfect! I didnt really expect to enjoy it so much but I did! Line isnt as long now compared to before. Yay!

This place doesn't have any tables inside, only a few outside. The coffee macchiato was very small, I even laughed when I saw this tiny cup, but the taste of coffee was good. I didn't like the sandwich because it was very dry and I hurt my tongue and gums.

Gorgeous spot with great service but the drip coffee was abysmal. Very harsh, likely over extracted. I’ve visited previously and had the espresso which is excellent. I’d suggest skipping the drip and sticking to espresso based drinks only.

The chocolate they gave was good, the Greek (black) coffee was not. Sludgy, maybe overextracted, and big puddle of grinds at the bottom.

I’ve been to some of the best coffee shops all over the world and this has to be one of my favorites! I’m a former barista in Seattle and this is one of my favorite coffee shops to go to when I’m in NYC. BTW, this not a seeker-friendly coffee shop! this is a coffee shop that portrays the culture and aesthetic of an upscale cafe. This place is for people who care about the quality of what they wear, drink, eat and people who appreciate the finer things in life. 💯 Love this place.

The cappuccino I had was amazing! I got it with honey as the staff recommended. And for 5.99$ I think it’s definite worthy. But we were waited in line for 10 minutes under the heat. This is one of the reason why I give it four stars instead of two. Because I don’t understand why they only let one person in to get the coffee and there were 5-6 people waited behind me. However, the coffee was good but the line confused me. And if you want to browse the store you have to go outside for another line. Which was very inconvenience and perhaps the hot weather makes the waiting intolerable, not to mention waiting twice. Will probably visit again for a cooler weather.

Although the Freedom Cappuccino looks epic, tastes just like any other coffee.

Literally was walking around to find a coffee place and saw that Cafe Leon Dore was open. Upon entering, we knew we made the right decision because the interior was nice and clean. They had a pretty standard menu and we decided to get the freddo cappuccino. Honestly, it was one of the best coffees we have had in NYC. No wonder there were lots of people in this cafe. Service was pretty normal. Quickly ordered and got our order from the pick-up section. If we are ever in the area again, we will come back for sure. Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5

Cafe Leon Dore is a must-visit coffee cafe on Mulberry Street. This small, yet exceptional coffee shop stands out for its neo-renaissance/italianate charm, coffee, and giant mouth-watering chocolate cookies. The shop is very narrow, but it's worth waiting in the small quarters for their infamous cappuccino. Here, the cappuccino is made only one way -- with skim milk and plenty of frothy texture on top. Taste wise, the cappuccino is fairly bitter. I wish it tasted a bit more creamier for some balance. Still, the ambiance and service made up for the taste! The barista was patient with us, took our order, and happily prepared our drinks. If you have more of a sweet tooth, they don't offer many syrups of seasonal flavors, just brown sugar or another common sweetener. But don't fret, they have delicious free samples of noisette chocolates! Perfect for: coffee with a friend, Instagram photo, autumn day outing with your dog

Stunning little cafe attached to the same building as the main store. The ambiance while extremely small and nowhere to sit kind of just brings a smile to your face as you walk in. The Freddo cappuccino and the freddo espresso were both very solid and have been a couple times when we are in the area. It can become very busy and feels even busier inside as there is not really any room to stand. 100% come by and try this unique place out!

Super cute, but small cafe! I love the overall aesthetic of the brand, and of course had to stop by the Aime Leon Dore store right next door! 'Freddo Cappuccino': I loved how thick the cream foam top was! The coffee itself was not too strong, but a bit on the acidic side.. Staff were nice, and drinks came out pretty quickly. There's a few outdoor tables in front of the storefront, and I thought it was so cute how they had the checkerboard pattern on the table!

Got dragged here for their version of that once-viral Dalgona coffee. Theirs is called the Freddo Cappuccino! I don't drink coffee so no opinion there but my sister said it was just okay. I got a mango juice box which was refreshing + a sea salt chocolate chip cookie which was amazing. & to the humans with poor etiquette: wait until people EXIT through the door instead of trying to shove your way in to this overpriced and overrated lil shop lolol

Cute cafe in the middle of Soho attached to a clothing store. There's a few tables right outside the cafe, which was perfect when we stopped by because the weather was so nice, but there's no seating inside. The cafe sells branded merch (aprons and towels etc), and the pastries looked yummy but we ended up just ordering their iced freddo cappaccino. They give you the option of adding either sugar or honey to the coffee (I opted for honey). Overall the drink was fine - the coffee was strong and and milk foam (they said it was made from 2% skim milk) was thick. I expected the milk foam to be sweet (maybe I'm thinking too much of einspanners) but it wasn't at all. Overall solid drink and cute cafe, but pricey (as you would expect).

Coffee here was good! Well prepared and super high quality taste -- nothing artificial here. More for hardcore coffee lovers than lattes/matcha ppl. As expected from Aime Leon Dore themselves. Almond croissant was also tasty but probably even better if warmed up. As tourists staying in SOHO, we were super excited to make this one of our first stops. Aesthetics are super nice in the place too. If you enjoy ALD vibes, you'll also enjoy checking out the cafe too.

I always wanted to come to the ALD store and I came across the café, which is next-door so I stopped by to get a coffee. I got the Freddie cappuccino and it was pretty good, but I did not get the pastries that was available in the café. It is usually busy and sometimes long, waiting line but worth the wait! Overall, loved the coffee and would come back here !

Nice people. Nice, well dressed people. Nice, well dressed young people. Nice, well dressed young polite people serving coffee and light fare in the city! No seating except for outside, I didn't realize this. We ended up having to take our food to a park down the block. It was cold out, and this wasn't what I expected. The kiddo was happy, and that's all that mattered. Thank you for making his day.

I don't know what stars to give this place as I have not tried their drinks or food yet. I came down to this area and wanted to find a coffee shop to stop by at before I had to go somewhere else that I was early to. I walked in the door was open so I figured they were open. When I walked in I got stared at in an odd way for a second. One of the ladies said it a pretty rude way we are not open for another 15 min, I said oh ok sorry didn't realize. I asked if it was possible I stood by the door or by the window just to keep warm for a bit. She said no as they weren't opened yet. I figured that is what they were going to say. But she could have said it in a nicer way. I walked out but was not going to wait around for 15 min in the cold when she was rude to me. Maybe next time I am in the area I will stop by to try their coffee drink they are known for but not 100% sure. This place was very small and from what I read in other reviews its connected to a clothing store of sorts. When I walked in, it seemed like a very chic, upscale bougie coffee shop and I was excited to try it. Oh well. In other reviews I have read I see that the staff were not friendly to some other people too.

Perfect spot people watch. Get the cappuccino freddo and the chocolate chip cookie! The cookie is made with dark chocolate and topped with sea salt. Perfect combo!

Got the viral Fredo cappuccino. It was mediocre, nothing special. The cafe was tiny and chaotic. People were on top of each other. No one knows where the line begins, no one knows where to stand to wait for their order. The staff were rude. One barista yelled at a customer for asking too many questions. They need someone to watch the line and tell people where to go.

I was only in New York for 36 hours and I made it my mission to stop by the coffee shop because I always see it on social media. I didn't feel welcome at all! I'm not sure why I still spent $90 for a coffee and shirt when I got judged by my appearance and looked up and down. The looks they gave me felt like I didn't belong. I can be an introvert but I didn't feel comfortable at all there. I also asked if they had vanilla and they acted like I was dumbfounded. Sorry I didn't know you didn't have vanilla at a coffee shop. Latte and shirt were great! Service...not so much!

Small little cafe in Soho that's right next to Aimé Leon Dore. The iced freddo espresso (add honey) with oat milk was my go-to. They also have a freddo cappuccino that is quite popular! You absolutely have to go their chocolate chip cookie. We went back a few times during our short trip to stock up on the cookies! They also have some small Greek cookies that melt in your mouth.

Love their freddo expresso and cappuccino! When I'm in the city....i try to go there but the line sometimes can be long but their staff is very friendly. Sometimes you'll even get a free chocolate to help make the wait a little more bearable. I've had their bakery items as well. If you're feeling a bit hungry, go for it.

Came for the viral Freddo cappuccino. It was super popular last summer and now that the hype has died down I was finally able to check it out without waiting in long lines. When ordering they ask if you'd like sugar or honey added to the drink. As someone who usually prefers sweeter coffee I opted for both sugar and honey. I think this is what really made me enjoy it. I saw reviews state that the coffee itself tasted sour, but for mine the sugar masked that a bit so I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best coffee I ever had, but the presentation is pretty and I loved the aesthetic. We also ordered a chocolate croissant and chocolate chip cookie. I actually really enjoyed the croissant. It was soft and had a good amount of chocolate inside. The cookie was ok, a little too cakey for my preference. There's no seating inside, just a small counter to stand and eat if you'd like. No outside tables either. It's good to try the Freddo cappuccino once, but not sure if it's for everyone. Definitely opt for the added sweetener if you prefer sweeter drinks!

Pleasantly no lines on a Tuesday afternoon! You can shop next door while you wait for your drinks; super aesthetic and cute vibes. Ordered the most popular drinks and came to a consensus that it wasn't up there, but still really sweet and quality coffee. Cashier was super friendly and everything inside was just sorrr cute, as were most buildings in this neighborhood. Next time I go, I will ask for more sugar and less milk heheh

Great location and fantastic coffee, I had their ham and cheese sandwich as well and it was a great snack. Only drawback was the limited seating which sucked on a hot day - but people were great to share tables! They kept the area pretty clean and the staff gave great recommendations.

I've tried the coffee here once, but had a horrible 2nd experience with the manager! Don't give them feedback in-person because they will chastise you in front of other customers and make an idiot out of you. I made the mistake of asking them to update their policy on recycling cups, and the cashier told me "don't talk to me that way". I tried several times to diffuse the situation while also apologizing if I came off wrong. They didn't budge. They wanted someone to get mad at. They turned out to be the manager!! A manager resolves conflicts, listens to feedback, and doesn't get emotional over a customer asking for recycling, no matter the perceived tone. Not only was the manager being a "d*ck", his fellow employees ganged up on me. This person shouldn't be a manager, or at least go take a class on conflict resolution and not getting emotional over a customer giving basic feedback. With great power, comes great responsibility. What's worse? I told this person, the manager, at least 3 times, that "I rather give feedback in-person than take it to Google or Yelp". He chose to not resolve the conflict or find a solution. Well, you got your wish Mr. Manager. I would've given you a good review if you handled this properly like an adult, but you took the child way out. I went to La Colombe instead. There are plenty of great coffee shops with nice people in SoHo to put up with this type of person. Sorry to the other customers that had to witness this!

The coffee was very yummy! The milk was very smooth and silky (impressive considering it's oat milk) and the sweetness was perfect with the natural honey. However, the bottom layer of the coffee was very acidic so definitely recommend mixing the layers once you get (even though it ruins the aesthetic). There isn't really seating in the shop and is more of a to-go location.

The spot is small and cute. It was a beautiful day and they had a few chairs outside, so luckily I was able to snag one and enjoy my coffee with my raspberry croissant while I read. They are not stingy with the raspberry jam. When I grabbed the raspberry croissant, in my mind, I thought how heavy it was as I had never had a croissant as dense as that one but I didn't think twice about it. It was just a fleeting thought. When I sat down and took a bite, it was bursting with jam. Almost immediately. I did not have to wait until I got to the middle for a little squirt of jam and I love that. I love when places are stingy and I know a few people who would be an instant fan of that raspberry croissant. I've only ever had a Freddo cappuccino at one other cafe. I thought it was exclusive to that cafe but come to find out it is not lol. I never really looked into what a Freddo cappuccino was. I just knew that I loved it and it was so different. Every time I was in the area I would go there for that cappuccino so now I have a back up.

I came to this spot after seeing it on social media. Unlike the store, there isnt a long wait time for this cafe and my drink came out in a timely manner. I've never had a Freddo cappuccino until I came to Cafe Leon Dore and it is amazing! The space is small and this isn't a cafe to sit at, its more of a grab coffee an go type of place.

From the name of it I couldn't tell it is a greek coffee shop. They didn't have the authentic greek cookies when I went but I wish they did. They have a few have a lot of typical treats. The greek coffee was lovely. The shop is small so gets crowded but there is a park nearby to hang out in and enjoy your treats.

Cafe Leon Dore is a charming, aesthetically pleasing spot tucked away in a small corner. The cappuccino, while on the pricier side, is worth trying for its quality. This coffee shop is connect to Aime Leon Dore. While we were waiting for our clothes at Aime Leon Dore, they allowed us to order coffee next door. Tried their Ice Freddie Cappuccino (Greek coffee) because it's their signature Greek coffee. Surprisingly it wasn't too bitter and had a hint of sweetness as the after taste.

Freddo Coffee is a must. I come for the coffee but also leave with their fresh granola bags. Cafe Leon Dore is a vibe.

As someone who has a poor sense of fashion, I was intimidated by this entire area--I mean come on, even the coffee is aesthetic. my friend and I waited around 15 minutes in line to order coffee here, after which my friend also went to look in the clothing shop. The clothing shop and coffee shop had two separate lines. I sat outside on the cement block to enjoy my drink while waiting for her. my drink was potent, but the flavor wasn't so bitter. It tasted like a nice, strong coffee. It's also really beautiful. The service was quick and friendly. I think they can serve 2-3 people at a time because the shop is so small, and I just stood by the barista to watch him make my drink after ordering. There's also free candy that you can take. My friend tried their cookies and they were tasty although a bit sweet! Not sure if I would come back since there are so many shops in the area but I would recommend trying this out for a pick-meup while shopping.

I wanted hate because of the ALD hype but I ordered the iced freddo americano and it was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend. I drank it black, but the foam was creamy and balanced it out nicely

Cute little cafe attached to a clothes store. Greek themed with some Greek menu items and some greek snacks for sale. It's very famous online but the coffee was nothing particularly special. Still good but don't know if I'd come again unless I was in the area

Came here for the viral Freddo cappuccino and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The ambiance and vibe of the cafe is very aesthetic and they serve quality coffee as well. It's definitely worth paying a visit.

Cute, hip spot that fits right in with the Soho crowd. Like their clothing store next door, their drinks and pastries are on the higher end of the price spectrum. I ordered an ice mountain tea and chocolate croissant. The croissant is your typical croissant that you can get anywhere for a lot less. The mountain tea was very good and already lightly sweetened. It had strong notes of chrysanthemum which I love. The crowd that hangs around in front (not the staff) does make me feel a little uncomfortable and a lot of pedestrians pass by this street; plus a restaurant with outdoor seating is right across so it's very busy here with a lot of people weaving in and out. Personal space? That doesn't exist, especially on the weekends. An option to consider for grab and go if you are in the area.

I don't give bad reviews often, but there wasn't much I liked. The decor was nice, the store is super small. Most of the staff was rude (only 1 person was nice) and it was super pretentious. Paid over 6 dollars for some of the most bitter coffee I've ever had and then a ton of foam and ice. If the staff was more kind I would probably give it 2 stars but there weren't really any redeeming factors. There are so many better coffee shops in the area in my opinion

The mocha was just the right amount of sweetness! The cafe is cute, but very small. There was barely enough room for people to stand and wait for their order, and there were only 2 tables on the outdoor seating area. However, the service was quick!

Good coffee but really rude workers. There was a super long line for this café as soon as it opened on a Saturday, and I was probably the first or second person to order. However, the workers were really rude and not helpful at all. I did like the Freddie Cappuccino, but it was way too expensive for what it was.

Don't really understand the hype behind this freddo cappuccino. The espresso itself didn't taste that great but the milk and froth combined with the ice were refreshing on a hot day. I didn't order with sweetener (since I usually take my coffee without it) so perhaps it would have tasted better with added sweetness. Cute store and decent service though!

So I stopped by this place twice; once on a weekend (crazy long line, waited an hour+ yes, you read that right an hour+ for coffee ) and the second time on a Wednesday afternoon (10 min wait). First time there my friend and I were confused as to which drink was the one we saw pictures of everywhere and ended up ordering JUST a cappuccino with oat milk lol. It was honestly a very good cappuccino so can't complain and the staff was super super sweet even though they were so busy. The second time here I actually got the freddo cappuccino (wanted to get the glass bottles I saw everyone talk about but they didn't have those available anymore womp). It was honestly ok, I got it with some sugar so it definitely covered some of the dark acidic taste but wasn't really my cup of tea or shall I say coffee. I would recommend this for someone who loves their coffee dark. Other than that the aesthetic ofc was super cute and prices were on par with other soho cafes so at least it's not crazy expensive.

Ordered their popular iced Freddo Cappuccino with oat milk and honey for sweetener. I personally thought it was worth the wait and luckily the wait was pretty short on a Saturday. Their espresso was bold and dark, the nut milk and honey really balanced out the bitterness of the strong coffee which I liked. Wish that they let people use the tables outside which are more for aesthetic purposes. Overall for a $6 small coffee it was good~ sorta reminds me of Ralph's Coffee

Super aesthetic coffee shop in soho! Pretty hype and instagram worthy but as for taste, it's aight. I got the Freddie cappuccino with honey and it had a subtle coffee flavor with a hint of sweetness. It was cool seeing how the barista made the drink tho! I would say it's good to try it at least once just for the experience.

Freddo cappuccino is not really my thing, but the place is so cute and I'm glad I tried it. The Cafe Leon Doré white and blue hoodie is also the nicest hoodie I've ever seen so gotta give points for aesthetics. Would be interested in coming back to try their pastries or other coffee drinks.

I mean... it's a cute coffee shop. Better than any other in soho? No but... it's really cute. The Greek coffee is really good. Special? No, again. But it's an experience. Waiting in line, the shop on the side, the cute little cup. If you've got the time, I'd say still stop by to say you stopped by and pop it on the gram to look cute and quirky. And then promptly go to another coffee shop.

Came by on a Saturday afternoon and there was a small wait (the waiting situation is a bit confusing too since there are tables out front but they don't let you use them). I ordered the Freddo cappuccino and I loved the aesthetics of it! The dark espresso is topped with foamy, creamy layers. The coffee itself is tasty; it's sour (how I like it) and the cream complements it nicely :) overall worth checking out and trying.

I decided to drop by on my day off, and surprisingly there was still a line on a Monday morning. The line situation was pretty confusing-- there's one line for the cafe and one for the store, but we saw people from the store line coming out with drinks. They also only allow one group of customers in the cafe at a time, so be prepared to wait for a bit! I waited about 15-20 mins to order. My friend and I both got the freddo cappucino. You have the option to get it sweetened, which we both opted for. It was very satisfying to see the baristas pour the foam on the drinks. As for the taste, i thought the coffee was on the sour side. I'm not sure if it's meant to taste this way, but it didn't really suit my coffee preferences. Overall: I'd say this place is worth a try (especially if they're still giving out bottles!) but I wouldn't consider this a go-to coffee spot.

Little Greek Cafe connected to the store. Dope designs and decor, even better coffee! Staff was very friendly from the woman managing the door of the cafe, to the baristas and the man managing the store-front door. After living in Europe I have yet to have a Greek coffee or frappè in the USA that measured up. Cafe Leon Dore may have surpassed that bar. The beautiful freddo cappuccino is a work of art, make sure you watch the baristas make it, you won't regret it. Also recommend adding sugar as the coffee is quite strong. The baked goods looked bomb and we'll have to come back to try them. Overall 10/10 on experience and 10/10 taste!
