9 Great LGBTQ+-Owned Atlanta Restaurants - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"This Decatur bistro, with a classy but mellow vibe, is perfect for a weeknight date. Café Lily’s cuisine travels along the Mediterranean coast, picking up dishes like the Gamberi alla Rossa, which features chargrilled Georgia white shrimp bursting with flavor and sitting over a creamy tomato fettuccine. And with a special weekly menu, there’s always something new to try. But many of our standing favorites happen to be on the cocktail menu, which is heavily influenced with Indian flavors thanks to their bar manager and co-owner. Try the Cardamom Old Fashioned—made with cardamom bitters, jaggery syrup, and dehydrated orange—and prepare to get your socks knocked off." - rachel garbus

The Best Mediterranean Restaurants In Atlanta

"If you’re doing Cafe Lily right, the entire Mediterranean—from Moroccan chicken to nicoise salad—will be represented on your white vinyl tablecloth. The giant ravioli stuffed with goat cheese is our standout. Gyros with thick slices of lamb are great for lunch. And their signature dish spotlights juicy lamb tenderloin with Spanish spices and a fiery salsa verde. While this isn’t the trendiest of scenes (and probably seats more diners in The Golden Girls demographic than those watching the Gossip Girl reboot), this Decatur spot has been around for more than 25 years because every meal here is guaranteed to hit." - jacinta howard, juli horsford

Simple ingredients and old-fashioned cooking make Cafe Lily a winner - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"For more than 25 years, Cafe Lily has occupied the corner where the two Ponce de Leon streets intersect in Decatur. In all that time, the Mediterranean restaurant hasn’t changed much—it sort of feels like that classic black-and-white movie you still prefer over Transformers 12. There’s still a massive wall of windows that streams light onto a sea of white vinyl tablecloths. Plus, they have a menu stuffed with hits like a sizzling plate of calamari a la plancha and massive ravioli stuffed with goat cheese. Their consistency is why it continues to be a lunch haven for OGs who don’t have to clock back into work and a go-to casual date night spot for folks looking for some intimacy over a glass of wine. Food Rundown Grilled Tuscan Bread The first basket is complimentary, but plan on ordering another because the lightly grilled, buttery slices with herby olive oil demand an encore. photo credit: Juli Horsford Calamari A La Plancha This is a must-order. The calamari rings come out on a sizzling hot plate with fresh lemon and olive oil bubbling on the surface. photo credit: Juli Horsford Gambas Al Ajillo If you’re splitting this with anyone else, get the full order instead of the half. Giant shrimp come swimming in a bowl with garlic, lemon, herb, and white wine sauce—it’s simple, but it works. photo credit: Juli Horsford Gigande Bean Salad Gigantic tender broad beans make up most of this salad, which also includes large slices of tomato and cucumber, a refreshing red-wine vinaigrette, and feta cheese sprinkled on top. This is just a simple, really well-executed salad. photo credit: Juli Horsford Ravioli Formaggio Di Capra Massive goat cheese ravioli come stuffed to the point of bursting. And there’s a literal pool of salty butter beneath the pillowy pockets, so there’s really nothing to hate here. photo credit: Juli Horsford Pinchitos This is their signature dish, and it lives up to the hype. A few chunks of juicy lamb tenderloin, tiny cubes of white sweet potatoes, and green beans get jazzed up with a fiery picante salsa verde." - Juli Horsford

Google
This was my 2nd time visiting Cafe Lily and the service was great per usual! The food was top-tier!! Sooo worth it and beautiful atmosphere! Also they have a nice wine and cocktail menu that very well pairs with all the dishes.

Google
Yummy food and great service. Blaze was a great server and his recommendations were delicious. He recommended adding shrimp to a popular pasta dish and it was great! I got the half portion but should have gotten the full. Yum! I tried corn chowder for the first time and it was life changing.

Maggie was an incredible server. The food was perfect. I cannot wait to go back. Best food I’ve had in months.

My hubby & I decided to share more time together after celebrating Easter church service. Out of all the restaurants in Atlanta, we chose to have brunch here because of its importance in our 10yr date life & 2yr marriage. And they did NOT disappoint! The service was outstanding. The food selections were scrumptious. The ambiance was sunny & happy and everything we wanted for the day. We love the fabulous consistency that Cafe Lily gives! How could we not think of them when planning to share our next fabulous moment together?!

I am being generous with three stars. I live in the neighborhood and eat there about once a year. I'm always disappointed. The atmosphere is always very nice. Things go down hill from there. The Malbec was not high quality. The steak frites steak and (horrible) sauce are small portions and just not good tasting. The steak is worse than just about any steak I know of, and certainly doesn't resemble a real, true French Steak Frites. My fries were served warm and delicious but the steak was literally cold. The ravioli was ok, but it cost $17 to get lamb in it, and the lamb was sparse, tough and chewy. They were out of their top 3 desserts. The chocolate brownie cake was pretty good. The service was really annoying. The nice guy was trying his best but he hasn't been trained well and does not know how to communicate or how to behave as a server. The worst? All of the food is tremendously over-priced. They charge high-end restaurant prices for sub-par food. I can have three or four much better meals at Taqueria Del Sol for the same price. My partner and I both concluded that Cafe Lilly is definitely not worth the money. We will probably only return when we have guests and want a nice atmosphere.

Google
It's been at least 10 years since I've been to Café Lily...shame on me. I don't remember having a better meal anywhere in downtown Decatur. The risotto was cooked perfectly, infused with perfectly seared scallop essence. The calamari presentation was wonderful, continuing to cook on a sear plate at the table. Tuna was a perfect medium/medium rare, and the crab cake, while a bit small, was one of the best I've ever had.

One of our favorite restaurants! The only interesting thing about it is parking. If you've never had their calamari... then you are missing a treat!!!

Beautiful relaxed place to enjoy lunches and dinners. We went on Wednesday night for dinner and Sarah, our server was amazing. Our table was wobbly and the moment she noticed it, she fixed it right away. The best gesture of hospitality which I never got at any other place for same situation. Sarah informed us about the daily special options however we chose other items from menu. Their cold maze platter was delicious with all types of appetizers in it. We also tried Gamberi Alla Rossa which was full of flavors and yummy. Their bread and olive oil sauce was great too. But what I like the most was their non alcoholic drink named Orange Cardamon. Although I’m wine person but I just loved this drink and ordered repeat for it. I’ll definitely be going back to try more dishes and drinks.

Yelp
I came here for brunch. Our server, Axel was amazing...very professional and always anticipated our needs. I had the Lily breakfast. It's unfortunate that they only cook the eggs 2 ways (scrambled or poached) but that crispy thiiiiiick cut bacon definitely made up for that. I had a bite of my friend's French toast and it's probably the best French toast I've ever had. The Bloody Mary was really good too! Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I've lived nearby and passed Cafe Lily for YEARS and only visited recently. This definitely should not have been my first visit. I decided to dine here before heading to an event because I figured I could order fairly quickly. I ordered the Calamari a la Plancha and the Orange-Blossom salad and I was VERY pleased with my choices. I love how the calamari is served, sizzling hot with a squeeze of lemon at the table. I can still taste it. The orange-blossom salad was a perfect pairing the the calamari. It had all of the elements of a delicious salad; sweet, savory, crunchy. I also had a cardamom old fashioned, so good. Perhaps it was the time I came, but really appreciate that it wasn't super busy. Cafe Lily is certainly a good alternative to other restaurants in downtown Decatur if you're looking for quality service.

Yelp
We were back in Atlanta visiting family and went out for dinner at Cafe Lily. We both ordered the Seafood Pasta a La Crème. It was a delightful dish, with scallops that melted in your mouth, succulent tasty, little shrimp, and fettuccine that was cooked perfectly. Cherry tomatoes and slices of asparagus were also served in a light lemon-cream sauce, that was delicious. I want to stress the 'light' in 'light lemon cream sauce' - I had expected a creamier sauce, that would have adhered to the fettuccine. But it was a watery sauce that sat in the bottom of our plates. While I can appreciate a lighter pasta sauce, I believe, while very tasty, this sauce was too watery, and thickening it would greatly enhance the dish.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for date night on a Friday evening around 7:15 pm. I made reservations in advance and we' were seated in the Peacock room which was a quiet, peaceful space. The bar was in the same area, but it did not impact the mood. Our server, Axl, was full of enthusiasm and offered many suggestions as we told her it was our first time there. We started with the calamari which was served on a hot plate and which was outstanding! The basket of bread was hearty and was served with olive oil as a free starter. I tried the half order of butternut squash ravioli which was tasty, and husband ordered the lamb house special which he liked. For dessert, we shared the seasonal pumpkin bread pudding served with vanilla gelato. It was a delightful culinary experience and I am excited to bring the whole family next time we come!

Yelp
Interesting restaurant! Decent amount of vegetarian options. The service was phenomenal, our server Axl was so polite and attentive. The salad was a bit small, I thought it would be a bit bigger. The hummus was pretty good! My husband had the swordfish special and he wasn't terribly excited about it. The restaurant decor was very unique, there is a peacock room and comics on the wall. Worth a visit!

Yelp
Recommend this place for dinner, but the brunch left a lot to be desired. The biscuits were good and everything else was meh. Although it is a cafe, there is not much emphasis on coffee (no alternative milk, no flavors). Not kid friendly. Came with my husband and our 2 kids and they don't have a kids menu or kids cups.

Yelp
I went in a party of 4 people who eat out constantly. We all agreed the meal was excellent. The environment was pleasant, subdued lighting but bright enough. Importantly, ambient noise wasn't too bad, unlike most restaurants these days. It's good to see some places still have linen tablecloths and bring (good) bread to the table, as all restaurants used to do if they wished to be considered good. The young lady serving us was very competent, helpful and charming. I had the lamb, their signature dish - it was excellent. My companions were similarly pleased. It was a sophisticated dinner without the pretentiousness which often accompanies such events. I hope to return soon. BTW, I forgot to use my Soundprint app, but encourage you to get and use it - it measures the noisiness of locations and records it online so that those of us who prefer quiet conversation and find somewhere to enjoy it.

Yelp
Hello fellow reader! A popping place after 5pm! What do I think of it? A lot of little things. There is an interesting collection of food from pasta to meat and vegetable entrees. I tried to lamb entree and the tuna niçoise salad. I also tried to calamari appetizer. They don't exactly taste like your average Italian restaurant because they're mediterranean! :) The lamb is too gamy for me but great if you like quality lamb. The salad was fresh but the dressing was too bland. The calamari was great but very buttery. Overall I give it at its best a 4/5 and at its worst a 3/5. The waiters were great: kind, witty and thoughtful. They sometimes cleared a little too soon but would stop if asked. I give them a 4.2/5. The ambiance is cute. Not to loud, not to quiet. Would bring family, friends or dates here. Can accommodate large or small parties. Would I come back? Yes for the ambiance. I'm on the fence on food but there's a 55% chance. That's nothing against their food by the way, but just my cravings lean elsewhere. So if you're in the food but enjoy mediterranean, I recommend you try it, and honestly, you'll like it :) -C.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a chance again, since I was turned away the first time due to the wrong hours being posted.... And let me tell you, I'm so glad I did! The host sat me at the bar due to table reservations and I was a walk-in. The bartender Andrew was very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of (tip him good!). For food, I tried the shrimp tapas, crabcake tapas as my appetizers and sea scallop risotto as my entrée. Ask for the tiramisu martini and you won't be disappointed. You can't go wrong with the lemon sponge cake as a dessert option...Yummy! Can't wait to return to this Decatur staple

Yelp
Great food! Everything we had was delicious. The calamari appetizer was fantastic. My wife had a duck special that she absolutely loved. Risotto with scallops was delicious.

Yelp
I've been coming to Café Lily for decades. It's quality remains top-notch. The food was delicious. The service continues to be superior. The ambience is still intimate.

Yelp
I don't write bad reviews often but, this may have been the worst restaurant I've dined at, food wise only. What a huge disappointment......We came here for Mother's Day brunch with high expectations from online research on top restaurants for brunch. We ordered a bellini with peach and raspberry. Both for me where not great compared to others I've had in the past. I ordered the special which was lobster ravioli and then a side of home fries. Weird combo but all the other side would have been. My husband ordered the steak and eggs. Our dishes come out and I immediately notice the ravioli sauce is bright Yellow. I was hoping it was cheesy but definitely not. At first, I thought it was some sort of curry spice but after thinking more, realized perhaps saffron. Very earthy. It didn't taste great at all and neither did the lobster inside the ravioli. Zero taste of european flavor that I was hoping for. I ate it for the sake of not making my husband feel bad for the choice of restaurant. My husbands steak came pre sliced and the eggs looked amazing. Then we realized the end of the steak was raw. He put those pieces aside and didn't mention. In the middle it was cooked correctly, I tried a piece and it tasted good. He did mention it wasn't seasoned enough. We ended it with what was titled as "home made" tiramisu...... This was the absolute worst tiramisu I've had in my entire life. So bad, I'm never going order it anywhere ever again. It was like a 5 year old poorly followed a recipe and decided they would put mostly marscapone, didn't have enough lady finger because they ate some, and then didn't have any coffee to soak them in. I decided I would fork out the marscapone and get to what little lady fingers there were. Still disappointing, zero flavor. Then I looked the embarrassing plate of mangled lady finger and marscapone block (that what I now title the dish), and I just started laughing uncontrollably at how it looked. Photo provided. Not a ruined day since I have a great attitude but it left me wanting to eat somewhere else immediately to make up for it.

Yelp
My husband and I tried to come here to eat, but it was extremely disappointing and we weren't able to order. We got seated fairly quickly, but that was the only bright spot. It took our server 13 minutes to come to our table, and she never acknowledged the long wait. She didn't bring water until I had to ask after waiting another 10 or so minutes. We had ordered bottomless mimosas but again, had been waiting so long we had to flag her down. Thank GOODNESS we asked to finally order because this was the final straw unfortunately. She said they were out of biscuits, French toast, potatoes, and bacon. Literally everything we wanted to order, minus the shrimp and grits. The brunch menu is already very limited, so it felt like a waste. Given we had been there now close to half an hour without any food or cocktails, we opted to leave instead. I'm so disappointed because I really looked forward to trying this restaurant.

Rae L.

Yelp
They have the most amazing food! The only problem is I can't order anything else besides one dish cause I love it so much. It's honestly the best customer service and ambience as well! I love it so much and I will be here forever customer!
google avatar

Renee P.

Yelp
I recently visited this place for brunch. I got the gyro platter, bottomless mimosas and a cappuccino The mimosas were good. The only caveat is your server has to bring them one by one which I can imagine can be difficult if hype place gets busy. The cappuccino was incredible just perfect. The lamb on the other hand left something to be desired. The presentation was not the best. The lamb itself lacked flavor however the tzatziki sauce was delish and the the potatoes were very flavorful Overall the service was good so I will be back to try another dish

Carla B.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and good food. Varied menu with decent portion sizes for reasonable costs. Great cocktails too.

Yelp
Service mixed but many were new Food okay, bread was stale, lamb burger over cooked , This place has definitely gone down in quality and service Drink specials good

Yelp
I decided to have lunch with a client based on the reviews Aug 6, 2024. I arrived ahead of my client to check out the restaurant. It's very nice and clean. The waiter wasn't very friendly and was very impatient when I asked a few questions about substituting side items on the menu. Very rude! We ordered the crab cakes and they were the worse I've ever eaten. My client ate one and agreed the worst he's ever had too. No flavor over fried and tasteless. Don't order the crab cakes. Never ever will go to this restaurant again.

Yelp
I held an engagement brunch here in their semiprivate room. It was great. The food was nice for brunch and a good portion size. I had the salmon salad. It was delicious. I heard the French Toast was good. We had an awesome server that knew exactly how to serve our party of 16 without being overwhelmed. He took our order in a timely manner and communicated everything that was going on with us the entire time. We were allowed to decorate. I would say it was a little dark.

Yelp
Recently checked this restaurant out with friends as we were craving something local in the city of Decatur. We arrived 9pm and the service was welcoming as we were greeted by the host. Our server was also amazing. To start, the menu have a variety of options . The food was also delicious with a nice chilled ambiance!

Yelp
Invited a friend here for lunch; never been here before. Upon entering, I really wasn't greeted, but eventually seated. While waiting for my lunch companion, I noticed a worker (who turned out to be the manager) who energetically engaged with the next group of customers that came in. I overheard them being asked how they were doing, if they had ever been there before, given the specials, etc. I was taken a back because I had never been here, and I definitely did not receive a greeting like those customers and felt basically ignored and unimportant. We both ordered the lamb burger which was nothing impressive. It was dry/overcooked, the simple toppings, e.g., lettuce, were scarcely visible (as if they cost a small fortune), and the dill sauce was bland and did not help much, definitely was not worth $20! After our uneventful lunch, I asked for a manager to express my disdain with the display of excellent customer service extended to the customers seated right AFTER me. I was told that since the server was behind with that particular table.....yadayada, basically fluff and nothing that I or my dining companion cared to hear, entertain, or believe. As a restaurant, if you want to succeed in excellent service, you give the same service to everyone regardless of what is going on. Giving excuses as to why some customers received the royal treatment and others do not is beyond gross and unacceptable. Unfortunately, the complimentary bread pudding (which was actually the best part of the lunch, nice try but no cigar), did NOT cover the mishap of providing excellent service or bland food at all! Won't be back or recommend.

Yelp
Went for Valentine's Day. I always drive by here and go to other lcds in the area. This place was very crowded and for good reason the food was very good. Service was on par with the food. I will definitely go back. Had the shrimp appetizer and the mussels both were good. For entrees we did t the lamb , the steak frites and the lobster ravioli. I'd love to go back and try more from the menu. Nice place for a date, very romantic.

Yelp
I went here with some friends and we had an amazing time! The service was incredible and so accommodating. We ordered the calamari for starters. It was soooo good and wasn't breaded. The bread they bring out is great as well. For dinner I ordered the mussels and frites. I enjoyed the mussels and the frites. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I would definitely return. We came on a Wednesday and enjoyed the 1/2 bottles of wine. Such a good deal!

Yelp
Outstanding neighborhood spot. Excellent for brunch. We all three had eggs Benedict. One of us specified "cooked hard " ! Ugh! But he got it that way. The other two of us had perfectly cooked eggs, all with an excellent hollandase sauce. Busy with locals. Plenty of street parking. Good strong coffee. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I stopped in CL with my partner on a Tuesday night for a date. It was walking distance from our staycation hotel. We were instantly greeted and seated. Our waiter came over promptly and was attentive but not too intrusive throughout the meal. There were martini Tuesday specials (picture added). The restaurant is primarily seafood but there are some other items. We started with the hummus di tahini. I have a photo but we were so hungry we had already eaten a portion of it. For main dishes, I had the Moroccan jerk chicken and my partner had a half order of Ravioli Formaggio di Capra with Chicken. I have added photos of both. My food was good, the chicken was slightly over cooked but nothing worth complaining about. For drinks on the special I had a cosmopolitan and lemon drop. The lemon drop was great while my cosmo was excellent, my partner also ordered one and his was -- not good. My partner also has the French 75 Gin which thoroughly enjoyed. The poor taste of the cosmo was sad, but we didn't feel it escalated to a point of having them remake it. The restaurant staff did offer. I ordered the Peaches on my Mind off the regular drink menu, and it was the best drink I had all night. We finished with a peach sorbet, which was absolutely excellent and full of flavor. Overall, we plan to return and explore a bit more. Perhaps on a Tuesday to try more of the drinks on special.

Yelp
Good Food, Fair Service, Overpriced Drinks! I've been coming to Cafe Lily on and off for close to 20 years, it was my staple for a while. Last week, the food was still good and on par with past experiences, so no issues there. The service was not so good though, it took our server close to 20 minutes just to take our drink orders. Once we got those in and ordered our dishes, they arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The main issue was the beverage, which I like to have with dinner. I ordered Maker's Mark neat, since I don't like to spend too much on high end bourbons at restaurants. The pour was barely a shot, so I did order a second one to get me through dinner. When the bill arrived I nearly fell out of my chair, $30 for those two shots of MM, which is is way more than a bottle costs retail! That was also more than our entree's cost, and way out of the norm for Decatur, or even Buckhead. I know that to be true since in the last few weeks I've ordered higher end bourbon and received better pours for significantly lower prices in nicer restaurants in both locations. I still like the food, but I will avoid buying any drinks there in the future.

Yelp
Cafe Lily is on our Atlanta area must-eat list! Just had the best dinner out in a long time. I was really in the mood for Mediterranean and found Cafe Lily online. Showed up shortly after opening on Sunday evening and we were able to get a table, but they filled up fast! Probably should get a reservation. Our waiter Kels was very attentive and recommended a Pinot noir that we tried and enjoyed enough to have a second round. I ordered the falafel and the cucumber/tomato salad (what I had been craving). My husband got the snapper on special. And Kels recommended the shrimp appetizer. Everything was delicious! I am stuffed as I write this. I refused to leave a bite uneaten, since we catch a plane tomorrow and to-go boxes weren't an option. We will not come back to the Atlanta area without returning to Cafe Lily!

Yelp
We came here for Tipsy Tuesday ($5 gin/vodka cocktails) and had such a great time! The server was very patient even though we requested to move table twice. The food was also pretty decent. I loved the Gamberi Alla Rossa, which is a pasta with red sauce and wild shrimp. The tiramisu was also great for dessert. We ordered the Falafels & eggplants for appetizers - those were mediocre.

Trish S.

Yelp
Decided to take myself out on a date and haven't been to this place in quite a few years. I lived in the area 20 years ago and used to come here often with my partner and friends and it brings back good memories, so I thought it would be nostalgic, not to mention the food was always very good. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the Orange-Blossom Salad and was a slightly disappointed because the serving size was quite small. I expected more for the price ($12.00). For the main course I had the Gamberi alla Rossa, which came highly recommended. I was not impressed. The shrimp had so seasoning or flavor, the pasta was overcooked and was drenched in sauce-and I like a lot of sauce, but this was too much for the amount of noodles. The wine was delicious and you can't go wrong with the complimentary Tuscan bread with the herbal olive oil.

Mel M.

Yelp
Highly Do Not Recommend this restaurant at all. Every table was served obviously burned bread. I even noticed a table near us where the burger buns were obviously inedible due to burnt buns but served to guests anyway. My salad had old arugula covering old mushy moldy beets, served to me anyway. This place obviously doesn't care about its guests. We also ordered very overcooked salmon and chicken parm. Even though we shared the issues with staff, no one seemed to care. We both felt nauseous after eating here. Will never go back.

Noelle M.

Yelp
I love the food and the ambience of this local restaurant. This place would easily merit four stars rather than three if it would up its game on service. The management needs to train the wait staff to do a much better job and stop being so amateurish. For example: stop interrupting people while they are eating; pronounce things on the menu correctly; check in on diners inconspicuously and politely; stop taking away one person's plate while others are still eating; know in advance which customer is to get which item; and finally see if diners want another glass of wine or some desert before unceremoniously dropping off their check. These are all just basic aspects of service that would complement everything else about this lovely restaurant.

Yelp
A cute little portions restaurant. I popped in with a friend to have dinner after a long day of work. The restaurant sits on the corner and parking appears to be extremely limited. I wasn't sure if there a garage somewhere nearby so I circled and went back for a spot someone left in front of the restaurant. Hooray! To drink I ordered the New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. Delicious flavors with just the right acidity. To start, we ordered the calamari and shrimp appetizer. It was edible because I was starving but it lacked flavor and was on the crispier side. For dinner, I ordered the scallop risotto. The scallops were delicious but the risotto lacked flavor and depth. The complimentary bread that came with oil was stale and quit gross. Our server Axel was excellent and why I may give them another try in the future. As it stands, the portions were cute but small so I wouldn't come here really hungry!

Went here this past Sunday for the first time for brunch. I ordered the bottomless Red Sangria which my server said it's really 4 is the limit. That's still a a good deal. They were very busy and happy I made a reservation.

Yelp
I hadn't eaten here in over a decade as I thought it hadn't kept up with the times, but after some coaxing the hubby convinced me to give it a try. Decor is pretty much the same, but it still had the same but improved menu. And who can resist a good lamb shank. Nice music playing in the background and one of my favorite wait staff from Sweet Melissa (ah it miss it so) works there now so that was another plus. I had the Seasonal Gemelli added the perfectly cooked salmon and hubby had the Charbroiled Faroe Islands Salmon Steak which he really enjoyed. They have a full bar with a good bartender. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
We love the food and the atmosphere; our favorite restaurant in Decatur. Highly recommend the pinchitos and gambas.

Yelp
The manager was very aggressive and nonchalant as it relates to how to accommodate a birthday dinner party! The food was staggered out to party and no one really ate at the same time. The Food was mediocr. The cupcakes that were purchased to sing Happy Birthday with were not allowed unless each person paid $3 each because they were from the outside. Dinner party excused from enjoying the $5 cocktails.

Yelp
Food was bland. Had the crab cake. It was ok. But for its size and price I would expect some lumps of crab. Not just shreds of it. Was drowning in the sauce. I knew it was going to be bad when they cleared the table and took the used forks and knifes off the appetizer plates and put them directly on the table cloth. In my experience for the prices they charge. We would have received new silverware. But nope. I told my girl be prepared for a mediocre meal. And I was right. I had the pinchitos for entree. Looked like a mess. Was not visually appealing at all. Everything on the plate tasted the same. To much lime. She had the pasta and shrimp. Both parts were over cooked and under seasoned. She had to add salt. For what they charge save your money and go somewhere else. The food was sub par for sure.

Yelp
I love Cafe Lily. I have been coming to this restaurant for 20+ years. The biggest change I have seen is that they have taken some of the more expensive items off the menu (stuffed filet and ribeye). However, they have plenty of flavorful and delicious items. Only once have I received service that I would consider subpar. I most recently went to eat on a Friday night and since I did not have a reservation I sat at the bar. The bar tender, though very busy, was very attentive and provided service almost immediately telling us about the food and drink specials. I tend to be a creature of habit so I rarely order the specials. My favorite item on the menu is the salmon, and I ordered it again tonight. One of the great things about the restaurant is that they do accommodate special diets or requests. I try to stay away from carbs so they grilled asparagus for me instead of the rice. For dessert we had the tiramisu. They do a fantastic job with it. One of my favorite desserts. Definitely order it because it is such a PIA to make yourself, and Cafe Lily's is one of the best.

Yelp
1 star for the service. I came on November 5th 2022 for a birthday, we were a party of 9 or 10 college aged young ladies. When we entered, our server did not give us a drink menu assuming our age. It took more than 1 hour for our order to be taken while she was mostly just talking with her coworkers. When we asked for a drink menu, she made a rude remark about hoping that we could prove we were of age. Everyone had an ID. She only took the drink order of half of the table and we had to wait 30 minutes for her to give us time of day again. We were not able to get a hold of her during the meal and she would walk past us and ask "is everything okay?" but would not stop to listen to our response. We gave up on ordering more appetizers. We would have spent more money at this restaurant had we been given the chance to order. She spent a good amount of time with all of her other tables. Bad experience for the price. Food was good but we will not return. Tip was included for a large party, but I would have tipped 0. She was incredibly rude. I will not publicly post the description of the server but I am happy to share with the restaurant privately.

Yelp
I have been to Cafe Lily many times over the past 15 plus years but haven't been since 2019. What a huge disappointment. I went on a Tuesday evening with two friends also very familiar with the restaurant. We sat outside. There were flies and bees. Someone should have told us. We ordered drinks. I am certain we ordered three but only two came so another order was placed. We ordered the mixed appetizer. The options were nice but there was no attempt at plating. The small serving of pita wasn't enough. The waiter said he would bring more bread. Eventually focaccia was placed on our table. It was stale. We asked for more and another drink was ordered. Eventually we ordered our food. We asked about specials as we knew they had specials. The waiter mentioned one and said there were only five left. Why did we need to know this? Then he mentioned the second but said they were out. It was only Tuesday and specials are supposed to be available all week. We asked about the bread and the drink. The wait staff weren't quite assigned to a table and no one seemed to know who was doing what or what we were waiting for. One didn't even know what a French 75 was though it was one of the happy hour specials. Eventually bread showed up but was given to only one person. We were told bread came with her dish. Apparently the stale bread was forgotten. I ordered the lamb burger. I've had the lamb burger before. It's been delicious. It arrived overcooked and dry. I sent it back. Someone, who may have been the manager, brought me the replacement and then proceeded to tell me how lamb was cooked. Why was this important? I did not ask for overdone food. The second burger was 75% perfect and 25% raw ‍. Sincerely disappointed. The food wasn't picture worthy. Sorry.

Yelp
DELICIOUS FOOD AND BEST-IN-CLASS SERVICE!!! ive been going to cafe lily for a while now and it's so good! the menu is extensive and there are also awesome specials happening regularly. a lovely restaurant for a delightful meal! last time i went, i got plenty of food. to start, we had the Hummus bi Tahini and arancini balls which is a special. the hummus is always so tasty with fresh warm pita bread. the arancini balls were lovely - super crispy and flavorful. they also give you bread to start that is nicely charred and paired well with a high quality olive oil. for mains, we got bouillabaisse (special), beef rigatoni (special), Seafood Pasta a la Crème, Ravioli di Zucca, and Risotto con Cappesante e Asparago. the rigatoni was a hefty portion and came with good amount of tender beef, the rissoto was perfect - scallops were amazing and risotto was so rich! for dessert, we got Homemade Tiramisu, Lemon-Sponge Custard, and the bread pudding. the tiramisu is SOME OF THE BEST!! we always get it and comes with tons of cream - yum!!! the lemon sponge custard was also great, but a little bit tart. the cake itself was so light and moist. the bread pudding was EPIC! warm bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.. what else could you want!?!? overall, everything is great! parking is easy and has plenty of outdoor seating. The staff is super friendly and it shows! the food is a little bit expensive but so worth it because you can tell that the ingredients are top-notch!

Yelp
We went here for a Thursday lunch and I absolutely recommend this spot. The weather was beautiful for patio seating and they were more than accommodating for our pup. Cory and Mel took the best care of us and would be so happy have them take care of us again. The butter and sage pasta was so delicious and we ordered the half size. I ordered the orange blossom salad which was small but was perfect if you're not that hungry. We decided to fill up on the half price bottles of wine they offer on Thursdays. We will be back!

Yelp
TLDR; came with a large group and ordered off of a set menu. The salmon steak was delicious and moist. Drinks are good but strong so be careful! I didn't get a chance to look at what else is offered at this restaurant. Because we had such a large group, I think our reservation offered a set menu instead. Each table got a basket of bread and hummus with pita bread. Bread was toasted perfectly and there was a plate of olive oil with some herbs to dip. I ordered the salmon steak and got 2 drinks throughout the night: Tulip Mania and Lemonade. The salmon was delicious! Super tender and moist and had so much flavor in every bite. I didn't really care for the mango salsa though...wish it was just some seasonal vegetables. Out of the two drinks I ordered, my favorite was the Lemonade. There's just something about honey flavored drinks. Both were refreshing, perfect for a warm summer night, and both were pretty strong. I think they were also celebrating because everyone in the restaurant received a small glass of Prosecco. Hospitality was on point and the staff was easy to talk to. If not for the food, come for the drinks! Looks like they have seasonal drink menus so every now and then there'll be something different to try.

Yelp
Essentially an Olive Garden.....terribly disappointed with the food and the price we paid for it. Pastas were bland. Server was somewhat socially awkward. Ambiance was good... gave you the feel of a family restaurant in the burbs.

Yelp
Great food and weekday drink specials. Have always had great service. Ambiance is alright...furnishings are a bit dated.

Yelp
Cozy Mediterranean bistro where old faves & creative updates pair with a wide zinfandel selection. It's an upscale place without pretense. Reservations recommended, especially if you want one of the cozy booths. Located on Ponce in the heart of downtown Decatur, parking can be a little tight, so plan to pay modestly for metered street parking and walk a short way. This a place to bring out of town company or celebrate a special occasion without breaking the bank. Definitely not your typical French fare since this has a Mediterranean flair that's influenced by other countries besides France. Great wine list that pairs perfectly with the food. Decor is nice without being stuffy. Lovely ambiance and a delicate attention to detail. If you love seafood, the Zuppa di Mare is the way to go, sweat broth from all the seafood piled into it. You must try the mussels with 2 sauce options, red or white. Both delicious and worth a try. What's great is that you get a large portion and can even add fries to the order. For a real treat, try their Tiramisu desert. Food was great and the server was very helpful and friendly. The food was delivered in a timely sequence. My food was cooked and prepared with an artisan's skill. Great experience overall. If you haven't tried Cafe Lily do yourself a favor and give it a try. I will definitely eat here again and will be going back soon.
