"Cafe Mamtaz is our favorite Indian restaurant in South Boston, mostly because we’re pretty sure it’s the only Indian restaurant in South Boston. This closet-sized spot is almost exclusively a take-out/delivery spot, and while the menu is pretty standard for an American Indian place, it’s all pretty well executed." - Dan Secatore

My family ordered takeout via Mamtaz’s online ordering system, but never received our order. After two hours we called to check the order status but no one answered the phone and the voicemail was full. It’s too bad, because Mamtaz used to be one of my go-to takeout spots because their food is really good and generally their delivery was fast. So, no food ever arrived, there was never any communication, and they did not notice the error or issue a refund. The previous time I ordered takeout from Mamtaz and actually received my order, it took them over two hours to deliver. I wonder what is going on?

I usually order food from this place online via their own website and then go to pick it up (as I live nearby). A couple weeks ago when I tried to order, the website wasn't working, but the google ordering app worked, so I went ahead with the order, thinking it was just the website's problem. When I went to pick up, I notice the restaurant had a note it's temporarily closed! So seems that the problem is google isn't in sync with the actual restaurant status. My credit card was charged, and of course I'm very disappointed, I still give it a 3 star because this is really a nice small family operation and I hope they come back to business and reverse all the charges that shouldn't have gone through.

Food was very tasty. Though it's more of a take out place but we wanted to sit down and eat they arranged for two people to sit down and eat, so nice. They were super nice and friendly. We enjoyed talking to them while waiting for our food and sipping delicious mango lassi. Both vegetarian biryani & non-veg tandoori chicken, were good.

One of my favorite restaurants in all of South Boston! We get take out very often. Our staples are the garlic naan, lemon curry, masala and the Indian salad! Authentic and delish!

Authentic south asian cuisine serving Halal Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani dishes. One can also avail 10% discount on your first order. The delivery is also free. They don't offer Dine-in option, only take outs and deliveries.

We ordered food to be delivered and it came in a timely manner. The tandoori boti platter was good (especially the kababs!) but some of the meat was overdone and solid/unbiteable. The mango lassi was very sweet and the Mamtaz Sahi biryani (it included shrimp, lamb, beef and chicken) had a very unique taste. Quantity provided was very good (2 people can easily split the biryani).

So bad it hurts to write about it. Most of my 200+ reviews are 4 or 5 stars, but this place takes the honor of being the worst food my friend and I have ever eaten/tried to eat, aside from one or two cases of food poisoning. After waiting 90 minutes for delivery (a distance of 0.4 mile) on a slow, late Sunday night, we received: a "salad" of old brown iceberg lettuce and big, thick raw carrot slices; a piece of stale, chewy naan; a "veggie" app that consisted of various deep fried blobs of tan mush; and a lamb dish of hard, chewy, gray meat with a few slices of unripe raw tomato. We were so famished that even domino's might have tasted good, but this nasty food was inedible. We muscled down what we could, tried to give some to the cat (she walked away), tossed most of it and fed the stale naan to the squirrels.

Actually I don't like the Indian food but here I got the only decent Indian food that I have ever tried. I bought palak paneer, I am not crazy about it, but at least it was not bad. The restaurant do just delivery , because it very very small and there aren't tables if you want to eat there. There is no bathroom.
