The Best Breakfast in Paris, From Crêperies to Greek Cafés | Vogue

"Café Méricourt features a cheery green facade, friendly service, and brews from French roasters. Its famous shakshuka is the highlight, with a menu ranging from brioche-bun breakfast sandwiches to lighter options like yogurt and granola, or heartier dishes like green eggs with feta and herbs." - Sophie Dodd

The 21 Best Cafés in Paris

"With its bright green facade, earthy interiors, and row of succulents behind the bar, it wouldn't be hard to imagine this café in tropical environs. Regulars come for coffee and a light breakfast or a casual lunch with colleagues. In-the-know Parisians seek out the novelty of shakshuka or green eggs with their specialty brews. The focus is on French roasters (same as at sister shop, Café Oberkampf), and, though it operates like a full-service restaurant, this is an easy stop-in for a to-go cup." - Lindsey Tramuta

Café Méricourt — Café Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Okay, you’ve just walked in. First impressions? With its bright green facade, earthy interiors, and row of succulents behind the bar, it wouldn't be hard to imagine this café in tropical environs. Who else was there? Regulars come for coffee and a light breakfast or a casual lunch with colleagues. In-the-know Parisians seek out the novelty of shakshuka or green eggs with their specialty brews. The raison d’être : the coffee. How was it? The focus is primarily on French roasters which the owner rotates throughout the year. This is an easy stop-in for a to-go cup if you can’t stay for breakfast, lunch, or a snack.  Was there food, too, and if so, worth getting? Signature dishes range from shakshuka to breakfast sandwiches, green bowls, green eggs and during the week, dishes of the day.  How about the staff: what did you think? The place fills up fast, but the staff is swift, making sure everyone is taken care of and comfortable. They can even pair that expertly pulled shot with a dish off the menu. Who should go here? This is an ideal spot for breakfast or lunch, but if what you're after is excellent coffee, arrive late afternoon after the lunch rush." - Lindsey Tramuta

Got here early so not that many people there yet. As per most people’s recommendation we ordered green eggs and pancakes with fruit. I am not really a pancake person but was surprisingly impressed. It’s made with orange juice that gives it a unique sweetness. My wife also liked their green eggs. It went perfectly with fresh bread. Don’t forget to add bacons to your breakfast! A fantastic touch by the chef as it’s crispy but not dry. Last but not least, the simple but artsy setting is well complemented with its background music - mostly soft vocal jazz and 90s pops. Well done!

Google
A nice breakfast experience, but a bit overhyped. We got there around 9:30 and managed to grab the only available table without a reservation. By 10:30, the place was full and quite a few people had to leave. The café is very popular and clearly in high demand. We had the shakshuka, pancakes, focaccia, and some extra halloumi — all tasty, but none of them really had a “wow” factor. The golden latte was a nice and different option on the menu. Overall, we enjoyed it, but the hype might set expectations a little too high.

Google
Absolutely outstanding coffee – one of the best espressos I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced body with an interesting complexity and just the right amount of acidity. A must-visit for any true coffee lover. As for the food, it was a genuine French culinary experience. This was our first stop on our trip to Paris, and we kept reminiscing about it throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Google
Great place for a good breakfast at reasonable prices! Most of the guests appeared to be locals, which is a good sign. Not touristy at all. We had the Breakfast Bun and Pancakes; both were excellent! And wonderful cappuccinos, too! Service was excellent!

Google
I found this place while looking for a nice breakfast place near my hostel and I liked it so much that I had to go back the next day again. The food was amazing! The Shakshukas with feta were very delicious. The pancakes were like I never tasted before. Delicate, fresh, aromatic. I’ll have to visit Paris again just to come back here!

Google
Great little place to tuck into for a cup of coffee or breakfast! Really enjoyed the local feel of this place! Nice selection of a menu with some real speciality plates that takes this up a notch from a normal breakfast place. Lovely cup of coffee!

Google
Lovely restaurant with good and healthy food. I had a small spinach, union, feta and egg in a hot pan. Which was excellent and enough. The shakshuka also looked very nice! Everything is fresh, healthy and really good. The waitresses are lovely, very friendly.

Google
Incredible food, super friendly service, fun and relaxed ambiance. The green eggs and feta dish was superb. Went back days after and tried the shakshuka- incredible too!!

Yelp
Thought this place was going to become the great white whale of our trip. After landing and checking in we were starving, and found this charming little spot right near our hotel. Unfortunately it was about 30 minutes before closing and they only had coffee/tea. Thought the breakfast/brunch menu looked amazing and decided we had to come back, but the second time, the wait was extensive and we had the de rigueur tourist reservations and could not wait. I did notice they had a wait list app, though, so downloaded that and put ourselves on the list the next morning. A bit of a pain, but ultimately the delicious meal was worth it. I tried the Chakchouka, my girlfriend the Green Eggs. Both came out sizzling, served in the skillet they were prepared in, and were very tasty. My shakshuka was perhaps a tad overly spicy/reliant on the harissa, but that isn't necessarily the worst thing. More one of those odd occasions where you order the thing you love, but wind up liking your companion's dish better and suffer a bit of meal envy, as the Green eggs were super flavorful, with pine nuts, feta, spinach and a melange of spices. We also ordered coffees (the allongee an americano-type serving--acceptable but still more a watered-down espresso than a true brewed american-style coffee, which I always miss overseas), as well as a Green Juice (ginger-heavy but tasty), which all came to a pretty reasonable 44 Euro. An enjoyable meal worth the complicated wait!

Yelp
Friendly and helpful service, delicious food, and great coffee. The ambiance was also really cool.

Yelp
Super cute spot with great food! Staff was so friendly for travelers and great for working out of too :)

Yelp
Everything was great until it was time to pay. As I was about to hand the waiter my card she gave me a polite lecture about how I should not put my card in the cup she had put the check in. She said it was rude and the French were sensitive about such things. At first I was confused, I though she was saying I shouldn't be handing her my card to tap on the card reader. It finally registered what she was talking about. I didn't say anything at the time to her. I asked my dining companions if they thought I was putting my card in the cup. They both said I was about to hand her my card. I felt miffed that I was being stereotyped because I was an American. I could somewhat understand if I had actually done what she said, but I felt it was rude of her since she just assumed I would do it. Not a place I would return to.

Yelp
My favourite breakfast place in Paris. Lots of gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options.

Yelp
An Australian style brunch place in Paris. Super popular with the locals and tourists. Paris is only now developing a brunch culture and this place is certainly capitalizing on it. Flavors are ok but not great. My shakahuka was pretty bland and lacked the flavour I am used to with this dish. It's my go to dish in any place that has it on their menu and also my benchmark for brunch places. Coffee was too sour for my liking and I didn't enjoy it at all. People are nice and friendly here and atmosphere is good.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for brunch and the coffee is fantastic. I got the green baked eggs (with spinach, leeks and feta). Highly recommend.

Yelp
Lovely café! Cafe Mericourt is a cozy cafe by the same owner as Cafe Oberkampf, so you can trust that your getting only the best. The coffee is excellent, recommended dishes are green eggs and the pancakes. Really enjoyed our brunch and cappuccino. Staff are very friendly and speak excellent English.

Yelp
The latest meeting of my monthly breakfast club convened here and delicious food was had by all. Most surprising? A really delicious breakfast congee (Chinese-style porridge). They also serve a "dirty Chai" (chai with an espresso shot) which has an interesting flavor profile - the espresso really cuts through the normally dominant spicy chai. Good pricing. Book ahead.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! No AC, but the restaurant is very cool (as we went in the hot month of June). We ordered the pancakes and the breakfast bun. Neither disappointed! The pancakes had an orange taste with tons of fruit on top! The breakfast bun was a bit spicy, but we love spicy foods! The staff was very friendly and helpful! They even played awesome music!

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts we had in Paris! The food was absolutely delicious and the servers were all so kind and friendly. The ambiance is cute, open, and welcoming. We loved the entire experience here - highly recommend!!

Yelp
If you don't wanna get croissants or pastries anymore for your breakfast, you should come try this baked eggs with veggies or baked eggs with tomatoes and bell peppers. Didn't try their coffees because we got one on our way to find this place.

Yelp
Loved the pancakes! It had the perfect hint of orange in them and served with fruits and creamed ricotta. The cappuccino is so smooth. The juice is fresh pressed. Wonderful atmosphere. The staff spoke English and gave us recommendations which is a plus for American tourists.

Yelp
The best pancakes in Paris!! I love cafe mericourt and the delicious dishes they serve. The fun spins they place on dishes as the seasons change and certain fruits and veggies become more available make the menu even more fun!

Yelp
Food was great. The staff was attentive. Its a small cute cafe. Definitely a local place.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch on a whim and it was delicious! The pancakes had a delightfully subtle orange flavor (they use orange water), the lamb sandwich was tasty, and a beef dish (a special) was so so tender and the best order on the table. The hot chocolate was also delicious. It is a small cute place, perfect for small groups and long meet ups. Service was good. We told them we had tickets to a nearby show (Atelier des Luminieres) in an hour and they got us out on time.

Yelp
This place makes the best simple breakfast- sunny side up, side of of avocados and gluten free bread. So good (and one of the best gluten free breads I've had). Staff was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I wanted to check this place out because it only had a few reviews. Overall a decent place, very cute place for small group of girlfriends to hangout but in terms of the food, it was okay. I definitely have had a better breakfast meal at other places but it wasn't terribly bad either.

Yelp
Came for lunch brunch with wife and parents, made a reservation. Beautiful spot, people and food was great. Got the lamb sandwich, and eggs casserole. A little on the small portion sizes but overall made the trick, very nice cake slices to finish it up. Also got some nice beers and cider there to wash it all down smoothly. Heard the place is new and really glad to have discovered it already. Will def come back for dinner and during winter times for sure. Very very peaceful vibe going on, quite relaxing for a Bright day like today, with wide windows open.

Martin L.

Yelp
Not impressed. Wanted a croissant or pastries but not available on menu. Staff very patronising. Apparently my request was very 'cliche'!

Jack L.

Yelp
Staff very rude and patronising in conversation when I asked if there was any pastries or Croissants as I didn't fancy a a cooked breakfast, apparently it's stereotypical to want a croissant in France so we took business elsewhere and had a lovely one just a short walk away so obviously aren't that far away! wouldn't recommend at all.

Edit O.

Yelp
The green egg plate was amazing! The place is very small so be prepared to wait for a table. The pancakes were also very good, they have different toppings depending on the day so you might not get exactly what you see online. Overall great food, highly recommend!

Alexandra P.

Yelp
We walked in and nobody even acknowledged us or told us how long we would have to wait. There were no tables open but good costumer service would have been to at least have the courtesy to tell us how long the wait would be or if we should come back another time. Instead we were rudely ignored so left.
