The food was really good. The atmosphere was very fancy and upscale. The service was decent. I just wish they had a little more on their menu. Other than that. It is a great place to go, especially for a date night or a girl brunch.

Wonderful and relaxing. Went there to celebrate our mom graduation. Didn’t take many pics of the food but the ambiance is peaceful and welcoming. We had the jalapeño cornbread to start off it was spectacular. I had the chicken pot pie 🥧 so delicious and with fresh ingredients. I only wish I had more photos.

Taste was really good and new experience but portion is not Texas size, and slow. We wait about 30min. for lunch. Also if you want to get just hot water, you have to pay $2. Menu name is The hot water set(?). Anyway it was good lunch. 2025. April 15, Over the window, construction now. No water looking out there. Don't expect good looking outside.

Cafe Modern, a staple in Fort Worth cuisine since the museum's opening in 2002. I was heartbroken to hear of its closing during the pandemic and parting ways with Bon Appétit, but now I'm shaking my fist at myself for not returning sooner! Jett Mora's culinary skills are on display for all to see here, accented by the beautiful dining area with the gorgeous reflecting pool backdrop outside the massive windows. Looking beyond the gorgeous setting, the food is really what we all will come again and again for, this time without such a lapse in visits on my end! Starting with the skillet cornbread, it was immediately obvious that we were in for a treat this day for lunch. The cornbread was moist with just the right amount of crunchy bits drizzled in warm maple butter for us to pull off an astonishing trick of making the entire dish disappear before the waitress could even turn around. Following the delectable first course, we all ventured in opposite directions for our entrées. Me, being the food mooch that I am, managed to sneak a bite of everyone's food. Perhaps this was by coercion, or perhaps it was because I flipped the bill. I ordered outside the norm for myself and opted for one of the specials for the day, which was an insanely good summer squash in Bengali curry with fresh radishes and summer greens. I must say, for this being outside of my standard carnivorous norm, this was in my opinion the shining star of the table this day! All the flavors melded together in a wonderful symphony that could have brought a tear to my eye if I wasn't so busy stuffing my face full of bite after bite. My dining partners opted for the other special (Salmon Cakes), the sinful cheeseburger, and a soft omelette scramble. Starting with the salmon cakes, these were my second favorite for the day. The cakes were fried up with just the right amount of sear and all the flavors of the dish melded wonderfully to bring out the essence of a truly good plate for these hot Texas summers. What did I learn from this? It sounds like you should order the special for the day, whatever that might be! Moving on to the burger. The meaty grind of chuck, brisket, and short rib is still making me drool as I think about them while writing this review! It's a serious burger; one of the better burgers I've had in town for sure! Not only that, but the fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned. Now that I've sufficiently wiped enough drool from my phone to continue typing, that brings us to the omelette. As someone who eats a lot of eggs, more than any person probably ever needs to, I can say that this soft and well-balanced Garlic Herb Boursin Cheese to delicately cooked egg was spot on. Everything was as it should be, simple, elegant, and perfectly cooked. Oh! I'm skipping over the cocktails, which were also perfect and totally fine to drink at 11 AM; I don't care who judges me. Annnyyways, they were perfect and you should order them to your hearts content! To sum up, I regret taking so long to return. I will be back as soon as possible!

I went for Sunday brunch and was immensely impressed! Service was impeccable and the food was absolutely decadent! It was unclear on the menu that the Korean fried chicken came with waffles, but I was so pleasantly surprised with the best chicken and waffles I've ever had in life. I also ordered the salad which was light and delicious. My companion ordered the burger and said that it was really good as well. I also like that they serve Acqua Panna which, in my opinion, is the best water, lol :) It was a calm and quiet atmosphere. We sat by the window with a nice view of the water. The icing on the cake was the fact that the museum had free entry on that day, so we were able to walk around and take pictures after our meal. It was a great brunch experience that I highly recommend and would absolutely do again!

Google
Cafe Modern is exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant in an art museum. Chic & beautiful, the ambiance is incredible. The thing that sets it apart is its price. I'd say this is one of the cheapest fine dining options I've seen in Fort Worth and one of the best in terms of cuisine. My first time in there was rather long wait times but this was probably due to the huge party an organization was throwing inside. Other than that the service was great. The chef and manager are both quite nice. Plus this is the only cafe I know that has a pet duck.

Google
Arrived at 11 am and basked in the stillness. The bread was outstanding. The French mimosa was also excellent. The quinoa salad and bolognese were a small step above average. We tried the mini pistachio eclair bites with matcha ice cream, the sweet potato creme brulee and the red wine poached pear cobbler with ginger ice cream--each of which was $15. Pro tip--arrive at 11 am because as the restaurant fills up, the noise level goes up

Nestled within the Modern Art Museum, the café offers a dining experience that is both visually and culinarily delightful. The ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed, with large windows providing a stunning view of the museum’s serene reflecting pool. The menu is a delightful fusion of contemporary American cuisine with a focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Service was impeccable – attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive. The staff's passion for both the food and the art surrounding us was evident and added to the overall experience. Café Modern is not just a place to eat, but a destination to savor both fine art and fine dining.

Yelp
It's first Friday at the museum and the museum had free admission, light bites, music, and a cash bar. Hubby and I haven't gone out in quite a while so we went to check it out and decided to also have dinner at Cafe Modern because the chef is Filipino and we wanted to support other Filipinos. I made reservations for 7:45pm, thinking it'll give us time to walk around, look at art and listen to music, and take in the beautiful scenery, but we were done with all of that by 6:30pm. Hubby hadn't eaten all day so we checked in early to the reservation to see if they could seat us earlier. We were hanging out by the bar to wait, but we didn't have to wait for very long. They were able to seat us at around 6:50 (I remember because that's when I got a text saying a table was ready). Ambiance - gorgeous. This is the first time here and we've passed this place so often, not knowing it was there. The beautifully lit trees reflected in the water made the experience so romantic. Food - stellar. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we started off with Brussels sprouts and the truffle chicken pot pie. We had to get it because of the yuzu in the Brussels sprouts and the truffle in the pot pie. Both of these dishes were so full of flavor. For our main course, I had the osso bucco and husband had the steak frites. I loved my osso bucco, but I could only eat half of it because we completely devoured the Brussels sprouts and pot pie. The steak frites was very good as well, but the osso bucco was the winner for me. Finally for dessert, we had the apple jack pie a la mode. It was a wonderful way to cap off a hearty dinner. The apple was perfectly tart and sweet and the cinnamon ice cream was the perfect accompaniment. Service - excellent. Our server was personable and so nice. When I ordered for me and my husband because my husband said he couldn't pronounce "steak frites", our waiter assured him that he also couldn't pronounce "steak frites". He was just very humorous, self-deprecating, and humble. Definitely would come back to try other things. I heard the menu changes seasonally so I'm excited to see what Chef has in the spring, summer, and fall.

Yelp
Cafe Modern is the restaurant in the Modern Art Museum. It's a beautiful spot to get lunch or Friday night dinner. The food is excellent, it's a work of art in and of itself. The service is impeccable. I will always come back!

Amy Y.

Yelp
My absolute favorite lunch spot in Fort Worth! It's got a lovely dining room on the water & a patio if the weather is nice. The food & service from Monica was excellent. Free & plentiful parking. A real hidden gem!

Aruni G.

Yelp
I went with college girlfriends during our mini reunion to Cafe Modern for lunch over Memorial weekend this past Saturday. They don't serve brunch on Saturday's, only Sunday's. Despite not having many brunch options, the food was delicious! The waitress was very attentive and remembered all of our orders from memory with no mistakes. She told us she was studying to be a nurse. She will be a great nurse some day! After brunch we walked around the botanical gardens. Other than being hot and muggy that day, it was awesome to see the beautiful plants and flowers.

Laurie F.

Yelp
We came here on ST Patrick's Day, not planned we were just looking for somewhere that served brunch that wouldn't be slammed with people partying. I had it saved for a while and wanted to try and I'm glad we did. It was actually so quiet we thought it may have been closed but a few other couple showed up, our server was really nice and funny, an older lady and she recommended her favourite dishes which were great. I had the Korean style fried chicken great Asian flavours and came with a nice fluffy waffle and a spicy yet sweet syrup. My husband got the eggs Benedict he loved he's too. The ambience is so relaxing looking out at the water and now we want to go back and visit the museum and maybe try dinner :)

Yelp
Hidden Gem, I expected good, but did not expect the parsnip soup, amazing, and the salad.... The blue cheese, the chef chose was perfectly balanced with protein and crème fraîche. Wonderful choice of lettuce greens, I was caught off guard and very impressed. What a Spot, with an exceptionally talented chef..... plus a building full of art next-door to walk around after.

Paul R.

Yelp
The apple bacon grilled cheese was delicious. Service was great and the setting (museum grounds) was even better.

Tonya K.

Yelp
Delicious food, classy atmosphere, great service, and an beautiful view of the night lights reflecting off of the water by the Modern. Fresh & satisfying with a well rounded menu. A true Fort Worth gem.

Shane V.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. The art gallery is already fun to go to but having a meal there is great. The view is beautiful. We had the chicken and waffles and the pork eggs Benedict. I'd recommend either one! I'd go back in heart beat.

Yelp
Outstanding food, lovely atmosphere, and professional service left a very high impression of Café Modern. Nestled around an unmarked corner in the back of the broad atrium of the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art, Café Modern may not make itself known to you at all. I've made several visits to see the art and never knew it was here. The short walk from he high walls of the entry along the pool towards the restaurant is photo-worthy. Glassy water reflects the modern architecture and blue Texas sky with a shimmery warmth. I ordered the Soft Scramble Omelet, a keto friendly dish with the trylu softest omelet I've ever had, garnished with some lightly oiled greens dusted with sea salt. The simple contrast was elegant and tasty. At our table we also had the Chinois Chicken Salad, Cucumber Sandwich, Summer Rolls, and Tomato Peach Panzanella Salad. Everyone loved their food. One in our band also had a spice Bloody Mary, which was spectacular. Prices were a little high for some items I thought. But quality was also high. If you come with one other person, I'd recommend waiting for a two-top by the window. Highly recommended!

Courtney Z.

Yelp
We've had both brunch and dinner here great ambience. The food we've had was also great! Unique date night spot for sure since you can also visit the museum before. Service is more relaxed so if you're in a rush just fyi

Michael T.

Yelp
We love coming here for lunch when visiting the modern. The ambiance is perfectly integrated with the architecture of the museum and us part of the experience. The service here was great! We loved everything we ordered. I'm looking forward to enjoy this food here again during our next visit.

Angela T.

Yelp
Went here early December 2021, after hearing Cafe Modern opened up their dinner dining option again. I made a reservation for 2 in advance, and got there a bit early to check out the exhibits in the museum before eating at the restaurant. The views were really special, and perfect since I wanted a holiday-related outing My partner and I ordered the Mezze Platter, Black and White Bucatini, Dan Dan Noodles, and the waitress recommended the Peaches and Cream dessert. All of it was delicious and flavorful. The Bucatini was a bit salty, so watch out for that if that's not your preference. I had the Noodles, which were just the right amount of spice. The Peaches and Cream Dessert was possibly the most yummy thing I've ever had (I literally said that when I bit into it), so thank you to our waitress for recommending that! The waiting time was a bit long between each dish, but the view and the food made it worth it. We were able to stroll on the greenery area where the tree sculpture and Christmas light trees are after we finished dinner, which was a lovely way to end the experience.

Ann Marie R.

Yelp
Food simply delicious, the ambience very sophisticated and the service spectacular. We enjoyed our view after requesting a special view for a birthday celebration.

Liz O.

Yelp
I was so underwhelmed with the food. I don't recommend getting the chicken & waffles it has a very unique taste. My boyfriend said, the burger was good. The fries were SUPER CRISPY & I don't mean that in a good way. The lavender lemonade was refreshing. The view from our table was nice and ambience was quiet & relaxing.

Tony L.

Yelp
The burger was amazing, but the Korean Waffle was just like eating Ramen Noodles. Chicken was great! Atmosphere was nice overlooking the museum pond and art. Service was nice and professional! Waffle should just taste like a waffle, all the extra ingredients aren't necessary.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
This place is all about ambiance and the foods good too!! Very romantic and also family friendly! Highly recommend if your not into the boring chain restaurant experience. Best to make reservations at as the wait grows quite long on the weekends. Check out the museums website for select beer and wine dinners. They are quite fun and I highly recommend!!

Taylor J.

Yelp
The restaurant firstly is beautiful! The food was really good! We will be back for sure. Highly recommend as a Sunday Brunch outing because it's very low key. It's within the Art museum also

Yelp
Such a hidden gem right in the heart of downtown Fort Worth! I wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for Kendall's Instagram post. With the beautiful water as a view, and perfect rating from both Fort Worth and Dallas CM, I knew I'd have to check this place out, even tho I'm not a fan of brunch. The cafe was easy to find, especially with the help from one of the museum staff. It's located inside of the Modern Art Museum, to the right, and conveniently not a part of the museum where you need admission ticket to enter. Perfect to come here just for lunch/brunch or their weekly dinner on Friday. We made reservation just in case, but showing up at 2pm on Saturday and only 3-4 tables were occupied. A table by the window is a must, so you can get the full view of the water without any obstructions. For starter, a complimentary basket with several different types of bread was brought to our table. My favorite gotta be the cranberry bread, has a nice hint of sweetness. For entree, I opted for the Pan Asian Reuben. Good flavor and texture. I would order it again but without the butter on toasted bread. It was way too much and started dripping, making it a bit messy. My other half got quiche that comes with a good amount of salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious, just the right amount n compliments the quiche well. We also ordered the chocolate caramel banana waffle to share. The waffle was light and crispy. The sauce was good, but would definitely be better requesting it on the side so the waffle wouldn't get soggy from it and you can control the amount. Overall, we will definitely come back here for lunch or one of their dinners (they open for additional dinner nights during special holidays). The menu seems to change per season as well, even more reason to come back n try new things.

Yelp
Café Modern is my favorite lunch spot in the Cultural District. I love The Modern and it's always so much fun to sit and enjoy the building with a great meal. I get the Chinois Chicken Salad 99% of the time - it's just so good. They also have a great brunch on the weekends. I recommend making a reservation online ahead of time just so you can be sure to get a table, although I have also had luck as a walk-in. Fantastic service, great food, even better art and architecture - what more can you ask for?

Jen D.

Yelp
Came here for brunch one sunday. It's been YEARS since I went to brunch and I was not disappointed. I've been here for lunch 2x since that brunch and I haven't been disappointed at all. The food here is wonderful and different. The service is top notch. The view from the cafe is lovely as well. Check the menu often bc it changes to keep you interested

Yelp
This was our first time at Cafe Modern after the First Friday event. The First Friday event was a lot of fun - if you can find a table. Get there early as there are no reservations for tables in the atrium area. They have a small bite buffet type offering and beverages. The lines were long in this area, so we went into the Cafe Modern and purchased a bottle of wine for our table to enjoy while listening to the music. We had made dinner reservations at Cafe Modern, and moved our party into the dining room, and the setting is spectacular. The view out over the water is stunning. Highly recommend reservations as the dining room isn't large but doesn't feel crowed. They also have a small bar where you can sit and enjoy a tasty beverage. Our table started with Sticky Ribs, Melon and Prosciutto and the Duck Fat Tater Tots. The Melon and Prosciutto while the presentation was lovely nothing over the top. The Sticky Ribs were tasty but the hit of the starters was definitely the Duck Fat Tater Tots. The Tater Tots are served with a Garlic Aioli which truly takes them over the top. For entrees we selected the Gemelli Mushroom Ragu, Miso Corn Tortelloni and Grilled Tri Trip. The winner of this round was the Gemelli Mushroom Rage - flavorful and filling. The Miso Corn Tortelloni was tasty but only four tortelloni, so if your appetite is big, select something else on the menu. The Grilled Tri Tip was a swing and a miss! The Tri Tip was as tough as a boot! I understand this is a tough cut of meat to cook but the server assured us it was marinated and slow cooked to perfection. Yes we shared the meat was tough. We ordered three desserts to share and the server comped one due to the entree issue. All of the desserts were tasty. Despite the disappointing Tri Tip the evening was fun for our group. We will definitely go back but will pass on the Trip Tip!

Yelp
If you love great art and fine dining, this is the place for you! My experience here was everything I'd imagine it'd be and more. That's saying a lot considering I've wanted to eat here for foreverrrrr, each time looking at the menu online and reading reviews, imagining how my experience and food would be. It's easy to be underwhelmed when you have this preconceived idea of what every aspect of your meal will be like. Needless to say, I wasn't underwhelmed in the least. Truly a flawless experience from start to finish, this is the perfect place to have that special date, celebratory occasion, impress your guests or even just to have a beautiful meal out. I am an avid museum lover, so the fact that my new favorite restaurant is located inside of the Museum of Modern Art doesn't surprise me at all! Nestled in the far right corner of the grand lobby, just past the bathrooms is Café Modern. Led by Chef Jett Mora, who previously worked with Wolfgang Puck's Test Kitchen and catering, the cuisine here is best described as fresh, creative, yet still rooted in Texas with the use of amazing, locally sourced ingredients and southern flair. The entire restaurant is surrounded by a circle of floor to ceiling windows, which overlook the reflecting pond and museum architecture, this makes every seat in the place, the best seat in the house. It's also the small touches for me that make all the difference, like cloth napkins, real flowers on the table, printed menus and the most impactful small touch, a visit from the chef at your table! We had only placed our drink orders and were looking over the menu when to our surprise, Executive Chef Jeff Mora came over and delivered our drinks. He introduced himself and told us some of his favorite menu items, as well as explained the origin of the concepts and the ingredients. For a foodie (and at home amateur chef) as myself, I really appreciated this bit of insight, it is fascinating to hear these tidbits straight from the creative mind himself. He even took our orders and put them in for us. Really thoughtful, personal touch that absolutely made the experience. I had decided on the Berkshire Pork Belly Benedict, Jon got the Prime Rib French Dip and our daughter got the Homestead Gristmill Belgian Waffle. For drinks, I ordered the French Mimosa, which included a Creme de Violette and St. Germain, Jon got a TX Mule. While we waited for our main dishes, our waitress brought over a little plate of cornbreads. These were not your conventional little breads, but had more of a soft, soufflé texture. Really tasty! Our main plates arrived in a timely manner and everything was piping hot and delicious! My Benedict was served with whole roasted and crushed baby potatoes on the side which were crispy and fantastic. The eggs on my Benedict were perfectly poached, with set whites and golden, runny yolks. Ciabatta was toasted with a lovely crust and a satisfying chew. Soy caramel braise with a hit of vinegar reallllllly complimented the pork belly, which was so tender and flavorful already (thanks to a sous vide bath). The wilted greens were soft and well seasoned underneath and I was a big fan of the Lime and Chive hollandaise, which was tangy, full bodied and so decadent. I could envision that sauce tasting Incredible on top of great many more things besides Benedict's! My favorite component I think was the Green Tomato Relish though! Really just took everything to the next level with a bright contrast to the many rich and savory elements of this dish. Obsessed! Prime Rib French Dip was also absolute decadence. Meat was delicious and piled high inside of a nice crusty toasted baguette. Served with a twice baked potato, hot and savory Au Jus, as well as a creamy horseradish. Superb! Homestead Gristmill Belgian Waffle was sweet, simple and yummy! Dark Chocolate chips and Blood Orange marmalade topped with fresh whipped cream takes away your need for syrup. Perfect as it! Truly a flawless experience and one that won't be forgotten soon! Already planning our next visit because I want to try EVERYTHING here. So, if you're considering eating at Cafe Modern, do it! Run, don't walk! You won't be disappointed.

Jay G.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. The staff is on point, attentive, and super friendly. Atmosphere is modern and fresh, indoor or outdoor seating. Great bar choices. And of course the food was the best highlight. The choices for Sunday brunch were way above my expectations. We even got to meet Chef Jet who is super passionate about flavors and the entire food experience.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Chic is Cafe Modern. Time simply drifts on by with the beautiful view of The Modern and Reflection Pool aesthetically designed by Tadao Ando. Seasonal is Chef Denise Shavandy creative and eclectic dishes. Presently, contemporary Japanese dishes has been included into their lunch menu in conjunction with the museum's special exhibit. On this most recent visit, lovely was the basket of warm biscuits and scones; delicious and exquisitely plated was my "Seared Tuna & Soba Noodles". CHEERS!

Leigh A.

Yelp
Lunch at the Modern Art Museum cafe. Excellent and interesting offerings. Several vegetarian options. Great service and nice atmosphere on patio. Indoor dining is a bit loud.

Adelaide K.

Yelp
First time going to Cafe Modern in my 23 years living in Fort Worth And I had a great experience. The atmosphere is very pretty looking over the reflecting pool. It does not get too loud in there which is nice. No phones which I also like (except I broke this rule to take pictures of food). The food was great. We got the burrata appetizer, berkshire pork belly benedict, local grind burger, and birria chilaquiles. (We went for brunch on sunday). I would say the birria chilaquiles was the star of the show. We also got the oysters which were a special that day. They were AMAZING!! I could skip out on the burrata next time- nothing show stopping about it but glad I tried it. The service was the only thing lacking. Slow and the waitress was not very informed on the menu. Overall, I would say I definitely had a good time and good food, and I will be returning!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
We were here today, a Friday, for lunch. We're glad we made a reservation since we knew Fridays are free at the museum and the cafe appeared to be booked. The dining area looks out with a 180-degree view of the rear museum facade and pool. While the tables were mostly full with patrons, it looked like many were waiting to be served. The wait staff attended to our beverages, even bringing second drinks before we asked. Each of us ordered a different sandwich so we could taste one another's: The Cubano, the cucumber sun dried-tomato pesto melt, and a hamburger--all delicious and perfectly sized portions. Cafe Modern is the perfect place to eat on your day at the museum.

Leah P.

Yelp
Not like it used to be.... We have not been to the cafe since they changed the chef, the food was not bad... but it didn't have the same vibe that it once was and didn't really have a clear theme. Prior to the change it was more farm to table and seasonal. The main issue we had was the service, our waitress was quick to anger and annoyance. She provided a drink that was wrong and was annoyed when we sent it back then proceeded to not adjust the receipt properly when it was time to pay. The manger fixed the problem very easily and removed the drink we never received. As customer service goes both the waitress or manager never apologized for the issue with the drink or receipt. I've worked in customer service my entire career and this was pretty underwhelming how we were treated.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Went there today for brunch with my wife. Clearly communicated my food allergy with the server and was still served something with that ingredient. We left pretty quickly shortly thereafter. The stupid thing is- they still had the audacity to charge us $6 for her drink. An epi- pen costs $200, a hospital visit considerably more- maybe rethink your policy for when you make a serious error like that. This experience ruined a nice day out, caused me a incredible discomfort today, and that discomfort will likely last a few weeks. Thanks for nothing @cafemodern

James C.

Yelp
Food is not bad, but expensive. Service is extremely slow! For a Saturday lunch, a simple cold appetizer took over 10 minutes to come out. It then took them another 30 minutes to bring out a couple of sandwiches. Unacceptable!

Chuck M.

Yelp
WOW, what an incredible experience. We had reservations for Mother's Day Brunch, the busiest day in the restaurant industry. I was really doubtful that we would be seated on time. Surprise, we were seated 10 minutes early and there was a long line of people waiting to be seated. it really paid to make reservations earlier in the week. We were seated right next to the reflecting pool, a perfect table to gaze out on manicured grounds of the Modern Art Museum and the outdoor sculptures. The weather was perfect for Mother's Day. We started to order off the regualr brunch menu but our eyes were drawn to the Mother's Day Brunch specials. They had a lobster and shrimp mac and cheese with a side salad and an asparagus and brie quiche with a side salad and fresh fruit. We also ordered one of their speciality cocktails, hibiscus mimosas. After a short wait, our mimosas and a bread basket were brought to our table by our very attentive server. During our visit to the cafe, he took excellent care of us. The mimosas were incredible. They were a nice change from the normal mimosas. Even as busy as the restaurant was no one seemed to be rushing. We had time to enjoy the scenery, conversation and our mimosas before our brunch entrees were delivered. The entrees were portioned perfectly, not too small and not too large. Terry let me taste her quiche, oh my, wonderful. I mentioned to her we're going to have to make a copy-cat quiche at home with the same ingredients. I finally tasted my lobster, shrimp mac and cheese. Wow, I've died and gone to heaven. There was a perfect mix of pasta, sauce, cheese, lobster and shrimp topped with crunchy toasted panko bread crumbs. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day. My wife and I set a date for an upcoming return for another brunch visit after church.

Yelp
The Modern offers a classic brunch, with omletts, quiche, and waffles. I love the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and view of the reflection ponds. Recently, The Modern appears to be getting a lot of attention, and everything about dinning here should make that no surprise. Today there were four of us in our party, and we all agreed that the food was outstanding. I had the omelet of the day, while my friends sampled the quiche and another the grits. I wish I had ordered the grits; it looked delicious. One thing I love about dining at The Modern is the sign at the hostess station politely asking that you refrain from using electronic devices. I did a quick check-in and took a couple of pictures and put my phone away. With no TVs on the wall, and people unplugged, it's easy to relax and enjoy quality time and conversation. This is what dining out with friends should be. The Modern offers casual fine-dining at reasonable prices.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and the fact that this is within the Modern Art Museum in Ft.Worth! We came here for brunch a few weekends ago. The service is phenomenal which is why it's worth 4 stars, however the food wasn't as spectacular as I wanted it to be. The brunch menu didn't really have me fighting for what I wanted, nothing really sounded too great. I went with classic eggs any style with bacon and a biscuit. Eggs were perfectly cooked! The potatoes were good but lacking some seasoning. The bacon tasted very much like smoked bbq or brisket as it was thick and Smokey more like a beef jerky than bacon. Overall it was a good meal but I wouldn't recommend the brunch menu to others. The lunch and dinner menu definitely catches my attention and will be back to try again.

Yelp
Originally, I wanted to give this location 5 stars solely on its ambience and decor, but after trying the food I knew it was well deserved! Cafe Modern is a beautiful staple to the Fort Worth Modern, that is only praised more for its' cuisine. I was a bit worried, as I have not tasted great food from hotels/museums in the past, but you can tell that the chefs here are presenting healthy and thoughtfully catered meals. I called in advance for a reservation -- not knowing that they closed at 2:30pm today rather than 5pm, and they happily sat me at 2pm. Not only that, but more customers continued to show up even breaching the 2:30pm close time and the waitstaff showed no sign of remorse on their face. We of course finished before 2:30, but it was nice to see that we were not being rushed out despite the close call.

Yelp
I'm late writing this, which tells you exactly how bad this experience was. My daughter made reservations for a nice brunch on Mother's Day. The menu was not at all what I would expect a brunch menu to look like but I did find something I like- a croque monsieur. I really love these so I was looking forward to it. What was delivered to the table was the most pitiful thing I have ever seen. Completely white with some kind of brownish meat on the inside; it looked really bad and tasted even worse. If my daughter had not been so excited to be there I would have had a lot of things to say to the waitress such as "get this thing off the table". And speaking of waitress the service was subpar for the occasion. At least the Mimosa was okay.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience this place is. I was treated to lunch for a very special occasion and felt like royalty. The customer service is exemplary, we didn't have reservations and they let us go in anyway which we greatly appreciated. The food was out of this world. The ambience is relaxing and calm. The cheese tray was amazing and a great starter. I'll be back many times

Yelp
I've been to the Cafe Modern a handful of times, and unfortunately, it is nothing short of an underwhelming dining experience every time. In most cases (except one), the service people have been exceptional in every way. Where the problem is, however, is in the lack of consistently well-executed items the cafe serves. This is one of those cases where the description of the item is much better than the item itself, leaving the diner overwhelmingly underwhelmed by the selection he/she has chosen. On my last visit here, I chose the "Chicken and Grits Bowl" (with the optional poached egg). The description sounded good, as did the recommendation by our server. Prior to its arrival, the Cafe offered up a variety of breads, scones, and butter to pacify our appetites while we waited. All were quite tasty, and had I known my selected dish was going to be so mediocre, I would have asked for more. After an average wait, my bowl o' tasteless gruel arrived. I mean...you really can't get much more tasteless than this concoction of tasteless meat, tasteless grits, and tasteless everything. I hardly doubt a good douse of Louisiana Hot sauce could have revived this dish from it's own mediocrity. I mean, can you add a dash of salt? Maybe a hint of butter or some kind of flavor at all? Evidently not. It is not surprising that Cafe Modern appears to serve most foods on the bland side, without much flavor, as to not offend the palates of most people. Either that, or they don't want to be known as the restaurant that pushed someone into an exacerbation of congestive heart failure at the local hospital. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not something they want to be known for. But not to worry...they definitely won't have that claim anytime soon with this lack of simple salt. The only problem with that kind of cooking, is there's nothing available to revive these meals from their tasteless inadequacies, nor can they be expected to offer much in the way of anything that you can use to improve it beyond old fashioned salt and pepper. Sure, the view is quite nice, but it does little to inspire me to go back there again. I'll just stick to what they do best there...the art.

Yelp
Should be zero stars after the restaurant did not honor our reservation. We booked a table weeks in advance for Valentine's Day 2023. I can't comment on the food, because we were never seated. After shwoing up early and then waiting 15 minutes past our 7:30 reservation time, we were told that they could not provide any estimate for when we might have a table, since "the kitchen [was] very backed up." There were 7 or 8 other couples with reservations also waiting. We left. Everywhere else was booked, of course.

Yelp
Please avoid this restaurant! There are way too many great options near by instead of spending money to eat mediocre food. My family & friends came with a large group, so we were given a smaller menu to choose from, bc we were told that our group was too large to accommodate- various items of the menu. Hmmm? Ok, so how do they accommodate the rest of the restaurant? Weird!! Anyway, we tried the roasted butternut squash hummus. This was not hummus at all, but just mashed up butter squash. It was ok, nothing special at all. Our other app was a Machengo Chorizo Croquettes. This was good, but again it was just ok. I didn't taste any Chorizo, and there was only three bite sizes pieces to an order. I ordered the pulled pork with grits, a poached egg, chipotle salsa, goat cheese, and purple onion on top. Sounded interesting. The pork was good, but nothing to rave about. But the grits were horrible, it was like they took a box of Quaker grits to make it. The other choice on the menu was an Artichoke Spinach Benedict, which looked okay. I didn't take a pic, well bc I was disgusted at my own plate, and wasn't impressed with either presentation. Anyway, the service was practically non-existent, but bc of our large group, we paid an 18% tip. Lesson learned, there are other places to eat in the area! Avoid this place.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere of this place! I really like sitting by the window and the water is right there! One of Fort Worth's prettier places to dine. The bartender made the perfect dusty martini! Our server, Tim, was perfectly attentive and knew all of the daily specials. My only complaint for this place is the food! I'm always just a little bit disappointed! I've been here at least five times but I just wish the food was a tiny bit better! There's really nothing really wrong with it, it's just not special. No real YUM factor. Today I tried the turkey sandwich because it was recommended over the burger. I was really glad I didn't get the burger if it's not as good as the turkey sandwich. They said they brine their turkey in house but it just seemed a bit dry. The chips that came with it were good. Maybe a little bbq seasoning on it? The cheese was a bit waxy looking. I wish so much it had been a warm turkey sandwich so the cheese would be melty and the turkey may have juiced up... but alas, I left a little disappointed again. :(

Yelp
Cafe Modern has become my default lunch spot. I never ever tire of the setting or their menu, and I always leave in a wonderful mood. I could walk in a dark grey cloud and leave a beam of sunlight. For me, a stellar atmosphere and delicious seasonal dishes = definite happiness every time! I like to embrace my leisurely side when I sit down for a meal, especially at Cafe Modern. You gotta take the time to absorb this exceptional setting. Whether you're at the patio or inside, you'll have an incredible view of the Modern's gorgeous architecture and pavilions that are set into a reflecting pond. Ask for a window seat so you're right on the water. It's pretty whimsical! The menu is always fantastic. Every time I visit there's something new I want to order, and items that can be made gluten-free are clearly noted.Think New American cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. During my last Cafe Modern excursion, I ordered the "Diablos" appetizer for $8.75, and it was phenomenal. Perfect, bite-sized dried plums stuffed with a wonderful gouda and almonds, all wrapped up in bacon and served with an amazing rosemary syrup. For real, the rosemary syrup was so awesome. Sweet, sticky, and herby. I also ordered the a cup of "Sweet Potato-Ancho Soup" for $5.50. It had the perfect amount of deep, building heat balanced with sweetness. It was topped with bacon, a little cheddar cheese, green onions, and a bit of a maple-lime crema to add a cooling component. Seriously drool-worthy cuisine here at Cafe Modern. Executive Chef Dena Peterson is ultra-talented and does an amazing job at showcasing seasonal ingredients in bright and bold manner - without being overcomplicated. I'm so thankful to have this amazing restaurant inside one of my favorite cultural venues in our community!

Yelp
Just a visitor in town enjoying the museums in Fort Worth The Modern Art Museum has a wonderful cafe, perfect for taking a break from strolling the galleries. A perfect place to stop by for a fine meal with a view of Tadao Ando's wonderful museum architecture and landscape! On Fridays when the museum is open late till 8, you can have dinner here. The last seating is at 8. Delicious spring menu now and artful presentation. I started with the falafel appetizer then moved on to the Pork Belly entree. Service was great (thank you Daniel ) Definitely plan to return, the next time I visit!

Yelp
Great food. The service is lacking for the location and price and hype. I wish the servers treated it with more pride and more formality. They don't tell you what they're setting down on the table. They just put some little muffins down and walk away. The muffins were good but had no idea that they were spicy corn bread muffins. I thought they were little biscuits. Anyways, still good food and will definitely come eat here again.

Yelp
Foodies! I never anticipated an experience like this. Our server, Summer, was exceptional. The FOOD. Exceptional. I had the Caprese sandwich and husband had the Melon, Fig,cantaloupe salad. The menu changes with seasons but the summer menu is a hit! The environment is comfortable, polite, and classy. Seems like a lot of regulars come here which says a lot about the service and quality of food. It's accessible to all and you will have a really nice time.

Yelp
Really impressed by the variety at this museum restaurant. As a group of 3, we shared the appetizers of the deviled eggs & the ginger turmeric soup. We ordered 3 entrees: Texas redfish, shrimp laksa, and soft shell crab banh mi sandwich. Deviled eggs were really tasty and beautifully presented with Parmesan crisps and truffles. There egg yolk is really flavorful and the bacon was perfection. Ginger turmeric soup was also the perfect balance of savory & sweet. It felt so nutritious, and was the extra boost that we needed for our immune system. Texas redfish & coleslaw was hands-down, my favorite dish. Flaky and well-seasoned, it laid on top of some really delicious coleslaw that had apples in it! So good-- I would definitely order it again. Shrimp laksa noodle soup was a bit disappointing. The dish was bland, in general, and lacking flavor. I would not order it again. Soft shell banh mi sandwich had only the tiniest crab and was mostly bread, sauce and some pork belly. The shrimp chips compensated for it, but I can easily buy a bag of shrimp chips at the grocery store for a few bucks. The view @ the restaurant is spectacular and I felt like we were on vacation in a far away island. Service was wonderful and I would totally return for another visit!

Yelp
I visited this place last year and loved it. I'm happily back in 2017, and it's still beautiful and delicious. I personally liked last year's menu better, but still it's one of the most gorgeous cafes I have been, and the food is very well prepared and presented. Price is slightly on the high side for lunch, but with the cute chairs and an amazing view that can't be beat, this is a great place to visit. Servers are super friendly, although it can feel slow after the place fills up for the lunch-rush. And I liked the not so overwhelming and well curated gallery, too!

Yelp
Cafe Modern is pretty good for art museum cafe fare. The menu is limited though you should find something satisfying. The food I have tasted here is usually very good. Wine by the glass pours are a little short though. And acoustics are a bit loud - I never understand why top architects never seem to get that right. Service is good and very attentive. Call ahead to reserve a seat by the window.

Yelp
I got lucky and got a table without a reservation on a Sunday morning, but it is encouraged. The breadbasket was full of scones omg! Our meal was great, the scenery is great, the staff very polite and professional
