Just from last night’s visit it does not take a genius to see how much of a problem the manager here is. I come here often with my brother, his wife, and my own wife, and as someone who has managed restaurants myself I know how this business works. I only hope this review helps those who feel they cannot speak up, because what I witnessed is a real cause for concern.
We showed up without reservations hoping for a booth since our favorite band was playing. The hostess at the front, a very kind young lady with a light complexion, explained that they were fully booked, and by looking around it was obvious she was telling the truth. We appreciated her honesty. She even suggested we grab a table in the room to the right, and when we were done we could head over to the dance floor if we wanted. That worked fine for us.
I had Candice as my server and she was amazing. She was attentive, polite, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time.
The problem started when a group that came in after us was trying to get a booth as well. From what I overheard they were already on the waitlist. Instead of honoring that, the manager gave the booth away to someone else who simply complained loud enough. No respect for policy and no respect for fairness. What made it worse was seeing four servers at the front, all frustrated and talking about how terrible management is. When that many employees feel that way, you know the issue is real.
The manager had the perfect chance to do the right thing. He could have supported his staff and taken care of the customer who was waiting properly, but instead he chose to reward the loudest, most entitled person in the room. That is not leadership. The customer is not always right, and anyone who has worked in this business knows it.
Now to be fair, the food is very good and the location is nice. The servers are the ones holding this place together because they truly care, and I want to be clear that Candice especially did a fantastic job. But the manager is a different story. If you are not willing to complain, do not expect him to treat you right.
I will not be coming in to dine anymore, though I may still order takeout now and then until something changes. To anyone reading this, think carefully before coming here. Good food can only go so far when the person in charge is the biggest problem in the building.
