Cafe Nena'i

*Warning this is a rarity for me, this is a review with no photos... I ate the pastry as soon as I got it. Sorry, not sorry* Cafe Nena'i is a small, family owned Latin American bakery with fair prices. I am a fan of the pastries like the alfajor (a cookie sandwich with dulce de leche and coconut flakes). Growing up in an Afro-Cuban household, I also appreciate their Cuban-inspired coffee menu but it doesn't rival mi Abuelita's authentic cafe (rest her soul). In addition to the sweet pastries, there are also empanadas and sandwiches, so you could totally go here for lunch. As this is their second location, hopefully this will free up some elbow room at the other location. #suportlocal #supportminorityowned

owner is so rude and mean she made me cry. i want to love this place, it is a beautiful design with a great menu and women owned. the quality of beverages are inconsistent, and if you ask for any customization or modifications, you get scolded or kicked out by the owner--she is not professional or welcoming to be customer facing for a local business.

Ordered a black drip coffee and as I went in to pay, I noticed that the employee quickly changed the charge to a specialty coffee. When I hesitated & pointed this out, she insisted that "the system operates this way" and then added "we apply out own tax"...on top of the tax? By charging me for a more expensive item? She insisted that I pay for a more expensive item, while receiving the original item that I ordered. We had some pretty uncomfortable back and forth, and I ended up overpaying. I realize that times are tough, but this was pretty off putting. Recommend avoiding, or being vigilant when you order!

I am ecstatic that they opened a second location in East Austin. I've been frequenting their first on in Montopolis. Get the Cortadito and Fractura, you will love it!

They have the best food and coffee around! Yes they do contactless pick up only but who cares? I support any business who keeps family at the top of their important list. Their cafe con leche is amazing. Every piece of food baked with love. Remember reviews should be based on food quality and service experienced-nothing more. Meaning, I would ignore any review with someone groaning about contactless pick up-I believe you can try Starbucks if you want coffee inside but you'd be leaving the quality of Cafe Nenai behind.

Iconic cafe! Love love love the empanadas, coffee, and vibe. Gladys the Owner and Chris the barista are so welcoming and sweet. 10/10 recommend!

This is my favorite place to get coffee and I am one picky coffee drinker. The pastries and empanadas are also amazing!! The owner is so so sweet and ver attentive. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Amazing coffee! My go to coffee is a vanilla latte with oat milk, was a little bummed when they said they didn't have vanilla syrup but they made me an iced oat milk latte with some sugar and I was honestly blown away at how good it was! I don't live in Austin but wish I did so I could go all the time! Also super cute in there and staff was very friendly! 10/10 recommend checking out!
