Came here for brunch on the weekend with a pal after a delightful spin session. I have been to the Cafe Neon up on Wallace, but had yet to check out their new Queen West location.
This space is charming as heck. The front is deceiving, as it shows two tables and a huge cafe space. But if you keep walking all the way back, there is a huge and quite spacious dining area. So keep walking back when you get there, there are seats!
Service was pretty casual and chill, they took our orders and checked in every so often to make sure we were okay. I never felt like we were under-served but also never felt like we were over-served. To be honest, our server was great at walking us through the menu and telling us about the specials that day (apparently it was their anniversary!) and just making sure we had all the water we needed. So you know, the service you need.
I ended up getting their Morning Wrap (with scrambled eggs, feta, caramelized onions, baby spinach, baked beans) for $7.25. For an extra $4.25, I brunchfied it which means I added homefries and salad. Then I added a side of bacon for $4. All in all, the food was well made, served quickly and CHEAP. There are some places where you get skimpy portions for small prices, but everything here was incredible.
The only complaint I had for the entire time I was here was the super loud party of four sitting two tables beside us. They were practically screaming at each other, which made it damn near impossible for my friend and me to talk to one another. Totally killed the vibe and had nothing to do with Cafe Neon at all. But damn, what an obnoxious group of humans.
If you don't feel like waiting in line at the Drake Hotel, walk on down to here. Trust me, you'll be so much happier with your decision and your wallet will thank you.
