The 38 Essential Stockholm Restaurants

"This corner restaurant in the busy nightlife neighborhood of Södermalm is run by the same people behind Babette in Vasastan. Café Nizza is larger, with a spacious outdoor dining area in summer, but with the same relaxed yet knowledgeable service and casual crowd. Diners flock for the regular four-to-five-course prix fixe menu as well as the a la carte menu, which features an innovative blend of Italian and local influences, like new potatoes with nettles and truffle, pasta fermentata, and strawberry semifreddo with elderberry meringue. It was over my expectations. Dragged into this restaurant thanks to the recommendation from my hubby. Took the course menu - appetizer, pasta, main and dessert with 695kr. Fantastic choice for each and very good wine assortment. Everything was good, - from the bread and butter, light but well cooked vegetables appetizer, cacio e pepe!!! Fabulous pasta with perfectly cooked and seasoned. Main - pork or pikeperch with well cooked and synchronized garnish was so taste ( we wete so full with all those food). Super nice staffs who made great recommendations for wines, quick, friendly and also professional... Strongly recommended!!

The pastas were simply amazing!! The portions are pretty small, so keep that in mind! Overall, really recommend this place, but book the night before!! The staff was super nice:) Really a lovely restaurant!

We passed by this cute corner restaurant and decided to sit in here. We ordered some oysters that were very fresh and had pasta and spaghetti as main dish.

A friend told me this place was becoming highly spoken of - and for good reason. Everything was just right from the service and atmosphere to the food and wine. (A dish of halibut with artichokes and white beans was brilliantly executed - no fork required.) Oh - and thanks for the bread!

Overrated place with overpriced food and wines. The only super delicious dish was agnolotti. The famous cacio e pepe can be liked only by those who have never tried a real Roman one. Pasta itself is fresh. The fish was a joke, it was frozen several times, so you really had to chew it. I’ve never experienced anything like this in Sweden. Pavlova was interesting, perhaps meringue was too chewy. Wines were weak, especially for this price.

Delicious food with great service. It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it. I peeked and caught the chef was making fresh pasta for my dish—it was amazing. Every ingredient was perfectly chosen and made the dish stand out. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing local restaurant with wide variety of food! They have tapas style plates but the full size pasta can definitely be shared. We have the cacio e Pepe and it was delicious best I've ever had. The wait staff was attentive and gave great recommendations. The n/a wine was also lovely. We also tried the chicken and it was delicious. You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into all the dishes.

Yelp
The food was mediocre for the price AND the waiter who served us was extremely arrogant and rude. We were thanking him every time he came at the table and he didn't said anything, not even a smile. When we asked about the food he made us feel uncomfortable that we asked anything. Horrible experience, I was looking forward to pay as quick as possible and get out from that heavy atmosphere...

Yelp
Highly regarded by locals and travel sites it was on a whim that two diners stopped by Cafe Nizza around 20h30 Sunday evening, a location separate from downtown or old town giving the small Italian Restaurant a decidedly locals-only feel plus prices far lower than many presumably more "luxurious" Restaurants planned during a trip to Sweden. Located at Åsögatan 171 on the landmass south of Gamla Stan, Stockholm's outstanding public transportation making access a matter of minutes from prior dinner at The Flying Elk, it was with al fresco seating full of Swedes that a two-top against an interior window was offered, the menu a well-culled one featuring few signatures and mostly market specials. Known as perhaps the city's best place for Pasta, three or four styles made on-site daily in addition to Whole Wheat Sourdough offering a good Crust and fluffy center, it was with an appetizer of fried Perch with aromatic Slaw and shaved Apples quickly consumed that two plates of Noodles were presented, the pockets of Brisket a bit thick and not particularly shown best in Dashi bittered by Turnips while Cafe Nizza's famous take on Cacio e Pepe fared far better as a result of plenty of melted Cheese and Black Pepper forming a thick Sauce around plump Dumplings. Serving at a pace that was comfortable and never rushed, plates plus utensils reset by course, it was with tough decisions made that two Desserts were selected out of four, a Caramel Custard Tart highly reminiscent of Sugar Pies offered in Canada but a bit more creaminess while the seasonal Rhubarb and Almond Cake was simple and beautiful in its presentation of Sugar-poached Stalks atop a toothsome and buttery base.

Yelp
Visited on their opening day, so 3 stars is a good start when they literally opened the doors for business earlier that day! I really liked the ambience and service. You can tell that the dining room and bar team are professionals and comfortable with their craft, cause it felt like they'd been open for years. The place is cute and the interior is modern and sleek. We scored a table in the bar area and the service was very attentive and warm. The have a great selection of wines, so for a wine lover this is the place to visit. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is the food. I wasn't convinced. But hey, it was their first night and I'm confident it will only get better. We started with oysters with lingonberries, yes that's right! Oyster with browned butter and lingonberries, it was delicious! This together with the scallops and baked celeriac were the highlights of the night! Excellent flavors! But the Boudin noir, guinea fowl and the apple compote with chocolate ice cream was kind of disappointing. But I will give them a couple of months and go back, I'm pretty sure I will be giving them a higher rating by then.

Yelp
Clear winner. Not only is the staff remarkable, sincere and completely in love with what they do, the team at Nizza makes really good food. The dope kitchen team at the best hotel Ett Hem recommended and they were spot on. The restaurant feels good for starters. It's the right lighting, it's not too loud, not too fancy, and the design is uncomplicated but intentional. A single tapered candle, water glasses and utensils are all that adorn the tables ... and sometimes that's just enough. The wine list is extensive, thoughtful and pretty darn special. I wasn't expected such a robust, curated collection. Onto the food: Appetizers Almonds are nice to snack while you wait for the rest of your (late) party Dry aged ham (YUM) Anchovies presented so lovely with the creamiest of butter and the most delicious whole wheat bread, you could eat this and get too full very quickly Pasta Pesto Pasta - so delicious and unexpected. It's made without pine nuts which absolutely blew my mind. Main Seared Duck - succulent, crispy skin and a nice flavor throughout. //@foodpaparazzi

Yelp
Unfortunately not good at all and definitely not worth the money. First time I ate here I was very satisfied but 2nd time when I tried it I became very disappointed. All courses tasted really bad and the chicken main course was not far from the air plane food I got last week. I feel that this restaurant is overhyped due to the neighborhood. Like a very bad copy of the great restaurant nook across the street

Yelp
I sat outside and ate the prix fixe menu. Each course was excellent. There was a beet/tomato/ricotta salad, potatoes with romanesco, pork with greens and dessert was a strawberry ice cream type thing. The portions were fairly substantial and service was good.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Stockholm. Fantastic food and wine, and great service. The outdoor seating during summer is perfect for long summer nights. Indoor seating is large, and there is also a few seats at the bar. Even during the week it is very popular, I recommend calling to reserve a table.
