The Best New Cafés in Montreal (Spring 2020) | Eater Montreal

"Mile End icon Olimpico just expanded for the second time ever, with a new coffee shop inside the former Presbytery behind the Christ Church Cathedral. It might be a little shinier than the St-Viateur original, but with the same Italian-style espressos at the same prices, it’s arguably the best price-to-quality ratio for a hit of caffeine anywhere downtown." - Tim Forster

Café Olimpico Opens Downtown Montreal Coffee Shop | Eater Montreal

"A Mile End icon, Café Olimpico has opened a new downtown location on Robert‑Bourassa, occupying the former Presbytery behind Christ Church Cathedral and part of what used to be Apollo 1333 at 1333 Robert‑Bourassa. I found the space shinier than the nearly 50‑year‑old Mile End premises — with a marble and wood‑panelled bar and concrete floors, it's classy and simple rather than gimmicky. They serve the same solid Italian‑style espresso as the St‑Viateur Street original, along with Italian pastries like biscotti and cannoli, and the operation remains independently owned and operated by Jonathan Vannelli and Victoria Furfaro (no franchising). Prices are a bit higher than the Mile End original — an espresso is $2.50 and a latte or cappuccino is $3.75 (about 50¢ and 75¢ more respectively) — but are comparable to other independent downtown coffee shops. This marks Olimpico’s second expansion (after a small 2016 counter in Old Montreal), and it's open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m." - Tim Forster

"Really loved this spot! The staff are super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. As for the coffee, it’s excellent. Very smooth, easy to drink, and high quality. The tiramisu was a highlight too; it tasted incredibly fresh, light, and wasn't overly sweet. Just a heads-up: the space is tiny and gets crowded fast, so it’s not the best place for a long sit-down session. I’d recommend grabbing your treats to go and enjoying them on a walk!

This café is such a gem in dt , the atmosphere is incredible and instantly makes you want to stay longer. Justine prepared my cappuccino, and double espresso and croissant ham sandwich and they were honestly one of the best I’ve had. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and made with so much attention to detail. On top of that, Justine’s kindness and positive energy made the whole experience even better. Amazing coffee, amazing service, amazing vibe. Highly recommend!

I had been planning to visit Café Olimpico but stayed busy for a while. I found out they opened a new branch on Saint Catherine, so I finally dropped by. The place is small, perfect for a quick takeout coffee. The Filipino barista deserves a shoutout. He was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the hot chocolate, and it tasted amazing. Rich and smooth, and different from other coffee shops I’ve tried. Definitely comeback!

I love Jesse! He made my experience beyond extraordinary. I didn’t got to have a seat because the place was full and I can definitely understand why, it’s because of Jesse, he treats everyone like friends. It was my first time here and I already feel the warmth, thank you again Jesse! I got a latte, cannoli and a couple souvenirs since my experience was soooo good and I don’t want to forget it

We went here on Christmas Day. They didn’t ask whether we wanted takeaway or to eat in, which really ruined the experience. Our coffee and pastries were packed poorly, and we were the only ones not given any cutlery while everyone else was. The Nutella croissant was honestly horrendous. I am not a Nutella fan, who thought it was a good idea to stuff a croissant with such an overly processed, sugary spread? The cappuccino was fine.

The music is great and it's packed with people. The coffee and tiramisu are both good, but the portions are small—you'll have to take them to go.

Caffè Olimpico is hands down one of the most authentic cafés I’ve visited. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of character, with beautiful wooden interiors and plenty of light that make it feel both cozy and vibrant. The coffee is absolutely top-notch — rich, smooth, and clearly made by skilled baristas who know what they’re doing. You can taste the quality in every sip. Their croissants and cakes are also exceptional: fresh, and baked to perfection. Located in downtown Montreal, it’s the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quiet moment. The positive energy and friendly service make the experience even better. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates authentic, high-quality coffee and a truly Italian café experience. A must-visit spot if you’re in the area!

Finally tried Café Olimpico’s downtown Montreal location after wanting to visit for ages — and it went beyond my expectations! Their coffee is rich, bold, and full of flavor — exactly how I love it. I had their Caffè Crema, which was creamy and perfectly sweet (like coffee ice cream!) — a solid 4.5/5. The Caffè Freddo with crushed ice was small in size, but unforgettable in taste (4/5). The Cortado was everything I’ve been searching for — strong, rich, and mesmerizing (5/5). I also tried their Bombolini, which was soft, light, and delicious (3.5/5). The café itself has such a charming, European vibe, though it’s small and gets overcrowded easily — not much space to move around, especially when there’s a line. But the aesthetic and energy totally make up for it. The staff were friendly and funny, cracking jokes and making the experience even better. The only downside is the small drink sizes considering the price, but honestly, the quality of the coffee speaks for itself. I’d pick Café Olimpico over Starbucks or Nespresso any day. Highly recommend for true coffee lovers!
