This place is very conveniently located in Neustadt, which means there may be a wait to be seated, though you can enjoy a coffee or tea while you wait next door at the adjoining (technically the same establishment) cafe. The coffee is really good and makes any wait tolerable. We didn't get any Kuchen but they looked delicious in the display. The service came and retrieved us as soon as a table was available in the restaurant and we perused the menu. They offer them in German and English versions (and the works all speak English), so it's very tourist friendly. The menu isn't huge but the limited items they do have, they do very well. I got the Pancakes and my date opted for the Eggs Benedict. She couldn't stop raving about how they were the best she's had in a long time, and after taking a bite, I tend to agree. Fantastic! The pancakes were also super fluffy with lots of fruit topping and sauce, so if you're into sweet, it's a solid choice. We probably would have gotten another coffee or dessert if we'd had time because everything was so wonderful, but we had a train to catch so asked for the bill, which came quickly. We were very pleased with our last meal in Dresden and will definitely be stopping in here again next time we're in town!

Nice and cozy place with great variety of breakfast in Dresden. I was around 1 am, cafe was full, but hopefully 1 table was available. I like huge variety of breakfast (savoury and sweet). Serving time was up to 15 min. Coffee good 👍

It was my first stop in Dresden and I had a brunch for a quick charge up. I loved slow roasted beef sandwich. Composition of the dish is quite good, meat, herbs and bread had a harmony. Service is really nice and people are very friendly. I would love to try sweets when I visit next time.

The ambience of this place is really cozy and warm, the staff was super friendly and the prices are quite reasonable. I had the hot chocolate, it wasn’t very sweet but that’s just my personal preference:) overall a great place

Great coffees and technique. They serve espresso based drinks using medium/light roasted beans. The only criticism, if being ultra picky, is the people who work here seem expressionless (maybe it was due to the rainy weather).

Google
hand’s down the best coffee in Dresden (and the slowest service). We waited for our coffee HALF AN HOUR after they told us it’ll take 5 minutes to prepare the batch brew. Well that was a lie and no one apologized to us. Imma give them the benefit of the doubt cause mistakes can happen and because otherwise the place is very nice.

Cute cafe with a few nice bites. Came for breakfast and had a cappuccino, carrot cake, and cheesecake. The coffee was great and I’d highly recommend the cheesecake. The carrot cake was decent. We also had one of the savory sandwiches which were fine. Overall, would go again.

Yelp
Oswaldz ended up being our go-to coffee spot the whole 3 days we were in Dresden. Amazing Flat Whites & each morning we tried different breakfast nibbles Apple / Brie sandwich on walnut bread - amazing Beet & Goat Cheese on pumpernickel - likewise amazing Gooseberry tart - pastry cream and tart gooseberries made for a delightfully interesting indulgence Brownie was huge and more cake-like, over fudge-like, but still flavorful. We quickly spotted the shop regulars ( as we became regulars ourselves ) and it was nice seeing all the diversity of patronage in the place from working students to parents / kids to holiday-hiking couples Free wifi offered German and English spoken by all the friendly staff. Wonderfully small, intimate, neighborhood-feel. Nothing but love for Oswaldz!

Yelp
5 stars just for the staff. Really nice and friendly. Unfortunately only take away, no sitting area because of covid. When we went there to buy their cheesecake ( New York one, which is suppose to be very famous in dresden) the staff there were trying new flavors of pour over to make it right and the guy at the counter really had a good sense of coffees. He offered us to try their pour over ( and did not take any charge , as it was not on the menu) really happy and impressed and thankful for that. Hoping that the sitting area opens soon and can go and try their new experiments of coffee

Yelp
Excellent coffee. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Very similar to coffee places in the Pacific Northwest of the US. Ordering in English was comfortable and easy.

Yelp
I enjoyed a latte at Oswaldz while I was waiting for my clothes to finish at the nearby laundromat. Excellent service and coffee. Nice ambience. I didn't realize that there was a courtyard in back until it was too late! Five stars.

Yelp
What a great find in Dresden! Delicious coffee, nice seating space especially if you're lucky to get a table by the window! and good cakes. Plus they do provide tap water. And let me tell you, that in Germany is like winning a lottery. :D

Yelp
The coffee was nice and our tarte really tasty. But the staff today was unorganized, slow working and not very enthusiastic.

Yelp
The Oswaldz is a really nice Café: elegant facility, gorgeous chairs, high quality coffee by "Phönix coffee". They have also really good equipment to make a really good cup of coffee, but only the chief is able to work with it. The staff don't know how to operate with the equipment. E.g. they can't make a "Iced brewed coffee" - you will get a double espresso and within there's swimming a fat ice cube (It works with crushed ice, because of the flavour and to become not watery.) A second example: They should learn to work with the Hario Hand-Filter-System, otherwise the higher price doesn't make sense! All in all: The prices for cakes are absolutely normal for "Dresden Neustadt", the coffee is expansive, because you will get a bad result from really good equipment. Chief, teach your staff, please!

Yelp
Every time I enter Oswaldz I'm astonished by the unique, arty and clean yet laid back ambiente of this self-service café, which is perfcet to enjoy a quiet hour with some delicious cake and coffee (or creamy hot-chocolate in my case). There is allways a varying selection of cakes and sandwiches at moderate prices to go along your hot dinks or freshly pressed juices. Together with the changing art pieces which are exhibited on oswaldz walls this small café just around Albert-Platz has the potential to become my favourite in Dresden.
