This cafe has basically become my second home/office. 😂🥰 I’m here almost every day for my large latte and the best croissants in town. 🥐☕️The chocolate croissant is my forever favorite, but the almond croissant has also been addictive lately. Their cakes, cookies, sandwiches, and spinach quiche are all consistently yummy 🤗😋 I ordered a coffee Génoise cake for my birthday party, and it was honestly the best cake I’ve ever had~~🥳🎂Everything is homemade, thoughtfully balanced, and never overly sweet, which I love!!!❤️❤️ Hocin and Ahce, the twin brothers who run the place, are funny, warm, humble, and hardworking. They’re always improving something, always welcoming, and they treat every customer with genuine kindness. This is the kind of cafe that makes a neighborhood feel like home, and I’m grateful to have it just around the corner. 💕☺️🍀

Google
We tried a basic caramel iced coffee and it was good. Staff was friendly and fast. Pastries looked yummy but we didn’t try anything since we had another place in mind. Will definitely go back to try some sweets. Street parking is hard to find in general in Berkeley. We went during the week and it wasn’t busy at all and found parking in a nearby lot across the street.

The twins, Usen(I apologize for spelling your name incorrectly) and Ace were a delight! Oakland has many treasures but Café Parisien was the highlight of my food experience. There were many options, all made beautifully and with love. We had the hazelnut croissant, croque monsieur, brownie, orange bread, raspberry danish, café noisette, and a London fog. I have never been so satisfied by pastries and a delicious baked sandwich before! I highly recommend this café to locals and tourists. Thank you! I hope to see you soon. Love from AZ 🤗🥳

Google
love this place! great pastries great variety all handmade fresh, and it’s a family business the staff are really friendly and devoted ! cozy atmosphere and the facilities are all good. Recommend a lot to go

Google
A true French treasure in the heart of Berkeley. The pastries are exceptional—light, buttery, and perfectly crafted, rivaling those found in Paris. The café’s warm atmosphere and attentive staff make each visit a delightful experience. Whether for a morning croissant and coffee or an afternoon treat, this shop consistently delivers excellence. An absolute must-try for pastry lovers. Which I would like to call it “little PARIS 🇫🇷 in Berkeley”

Google
The staff is very friendly and professional. The quality of coffee here is lower than a coffee aficionado expects and is used to now from Third Wave coffee shops. The milk is steamed too hot (burnt), they don’t pour latte art, and the flavor of espresso is not great. My Coffee Roastery(one of Berkeley’s best shops) was closed for 2 wks so we tried this place today. The quality of pastries is also a few notches down. But they are very nice and work hard to serve you fast.

Google
Nice coffee and pastries! My friends recommended me the delicious bagels, but I was full so I will try the next time. Moreover, the managers are hospitable and courteous🥰. Il aussi parle français🇫🇷. To sum up, this is a wonderful place for pleasure, you can enjoy your brunch, afternoon coffee and relax.

Google
WONDERFUL cafe along Shattuck. Great selection of beverages (hot and cold) and pastries. Service is attentive and friendly. A really commendable perk is that THEY CLEAN THE TABLES and really keep the place welcoming and comfortable. After a couple left their table, someone came by to spray and wipe the table (I’ve never seen this happen at any cafe). Definitely on the list when I’m in the neighborhood!

Yelp
This space was Vitality Bowls, wasn't it? I thought the name was ironic because I remember the young staff was anything but vital. However, this compact French-inspired bakery cafe was refreshingly the exact opposite with the owner quite chipper and happy to serve customers, even if they amount to being lookie-loos. When we visited the first time, Jamie W and I were boycotting baked goods. You're probably wondering why we would be coming here if we were so calorie-averse. Well, sometimes it's best to face the devil head-on, and we ordered the $4.75 Iced Tea and the $3.10 Hot Black Tea (Photo 4). Not only did he not give us grief about our pastry-free order but he happily chatted with us. His space featured faux-marble cafe tables and an enticing display of all those baked goodies. I came back alone several months later after missing the bus and recognizing I could accept a few more calories. Upping my game, I ordered the $4.95 Cafe Latte and the $6.95 Apple Cinnamon Danish (Photo 3). I'm happy to report the danish was delish and the latte was satisfying. Fortunately there was an open table where I could wait for the bus. It's not in the Marais, but hey, it'll do just fine. COFFEE / FOOD - 4 stars...quite satisfying AMBIANCE - 4 stars...relaxing when you can snag a table SERVICE - 5 stars...the owner really elevates the business TOTAL - 4 stars...not quite Paris but close enough RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Yelp
Lovely Parisian Café with Delicious Sweets! Stopped by this charming little café after a walk and it was the perfect treat. We ordered a few different desserts, and every single one was so tasty - sweet but not too sweet, and full of flavor. You can tell they're made fresh. We sat outside, and the seating was super comfy. It's a peaceful spot to relax, enjoy your food, and people-watch. The outdoor setup really adds to the experience - very Parisian vibe. It's a great place to stop for dessert after walking around or exploring nearby. We felt really relaxed and didn't feel rushed at all. If you're in the area and craving something sweet in a cozy, cute spot - definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Egg and cheese croissant and coffee was excellent!! Beautiful and delicious pastries make you feel like you are in a Paris bakery, really really fluffy and light with true artisanal flavor and very low sugar or fats. I think they bake everything in house. Service is amazing, family owned and operated. the twin brothers running it really put their souls, and their backs into making this cafe and everything about it top notch. A wonderful new place to wake up and smell the coffee and almond croissants.

Yelp
Attentive and extremely kind staff, delicious coffee, and fantastic treats! Top tier study spot.

Yelp
Great experience, yummy food lovely owner! Came here this week and got lox bagel and two croissants (chocolate and cream filled). Got to chat with the owner as well and he told me how this is the third location opened (the original two were in France). Authentic and pleasant experience!

Yelp
Amazing and cute little cafe with delicious coffee, hot chocolate and pastries. Very friendly owners and the music and ambiance are lively and uplifting. The cafe and bathroom are also very clean.

Yelp
Food was absolutely unbelievable. Pastries are an experience and the sandwiches I've tried here are simple but excellent.

Yelp
What a delectable smell coming from this shop! We were walking past and just had to go in as the smell alone was tantalizing! It is a cute little shop with beverages as well as breakfast treats and pastries, but also sandwiches. It was a bevy of goods and it was hard to pick just one pastry. I ended up with a chocolate croissant that was perfectly flaky and sweet without being overly sweet. Perfect spot for a morning treat or a daily visit!

Yelp
This is the second time we've gotten this kind of birthday cake at this cafe and its absolutely delicious. Tastes authentic, fresh, and homemade. These guys are great and always exceed our expectations!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely cafe, chill Parisian cafe that does not have the hustle and bustle, nice for a Sunday and for conversations.
google avatar

Yelp
The staff were really friendly and the cafe looks cozy. The pastries look delicious as well. I got the genoise for $7.50 and it tastes pretty good. Happy there's a new French cafe at Berkeley now :)
google avatar

Ruby C.

Yelp
Walked by this new bakery post lunch and decided to check it out. I got the hazelnut latte and my sister got a vanilla latte. Both drinks were at the perfect sweetness and the coffee wasn't sour or bitter at all! They have a ton of different pastries to choose from and some sandwiches as well. I think they just opened so I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area and want a snack or coffee!

Yelp
Great espresso drinks, wonderful savory & sweet baked goods made onsite. Super nice service. The cafe is run by two brothers who are identical twins, so you get twice the service with twice the smiles :D

John C.

Yelp
Just happened to be in the neighborhood, stopped by for a quick espresso and pastry to kill some time. Glad I stopped by, delicious croissant, perfect espresso, incredibly hospitable gentlemen running the place. Made me wish I lived in the neighborhood.

Yelp
The brothers have done a wonderful job to create a little European feel in the middle of Berkeley! The tiramisu is great, croissants are buttery like those sold on the mornings on Parisian streets! Coffee has aroma and rich flavor! Has become my weekly stop!
google avatar

Bita A.

Yelp
Great new addition to the neighborhood. Love this new place, pastries are well done and delicious. They have great options for a light lunch. Fun space to seat and catch up with friends.

Yelp
A wonderful experience! What really made it for me was the friendly and welcoming staff. I felt like I was a VIP, maybe even an old friend, and it was my first time there. Highly recommended. Your day will be brighter.

Hanna M.

Yelp
Pastries are all excellent and high-quality. Our new favorite spot in the neighborhood. Owners are very friendly too.

Yelp
Great place for morning coffee. They have variety of breakfast sandwiches, bagels and pastries. Coffee, food, service, the place - everything is amazing. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area.

Yelp
The guys that run this café are so kind and happy to answer questions! We brought our elderly grandmother (she uses a walker, and it's perfectly accessible), and it's so integral to our experience in a restaurant when the servers are patient. The man who helped us was amazing and the pastries were unbelievable. I got the raspberry danish, and the pastry itself was buttery and flaky. One of the best I've had in the Bay Area, and super cheap. We got three coffee drinks and three desserts, and paid $28. Nearby places, especially on Shattuck, charge double the amount for worse quality items. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by for a bite!

Deborah L.

Yelp
I recently discovered this wonderful patisserie and it's like a little slice of Paris! I had the croissant a la creme and it was to die for. The owners are super sweet too. I asked the young man at the counter if they had any eclairs because my daughter loves them. He said, if you have 10 minutes we can make you some. I can't wait to come back to try their other treats!

Judith R.

Yelp
Wow! We ordered a special order chocolate cake with moose for a special birthday and it was over the top delicious! We will definitely be ordering all of our cakes from here from now on. We had a large group and everyone thought it was delectable. Extremely flavorful without being overly sweet and incredibly moist. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a cake that tasted so good. The only problem is that I probably ate more than I should've cause it was so delicious. Extra points for the lovely and attentive staff. The warmest folks you'll ever meet. Just going into this little café, lifts your spirits!

Eric R.

Yelp
This place is the best. I've had coffee and pastries several times. Excellent espresso drinks and first rate croissants. Ten Stars! We needed a special apple pie for a 94th birthday celebration on short notice. CP cheerfully took our special order and produced a marvelous Dutch style apple pie to our specification. Thanks to Ace, Hockney, Samia and Kamel for helping make this a super special birthday!!

Mamie L.

Yelp
Great neighborhood cafe. Friendly and welcoming owners. Nice assortment of pastries, beverages, light lunch options. Glad that the students haven't taken over the cafe like they have in other places. You can actually buy food and sit down and enjoy it instead of doing take out due to lack of seating. Places to sit inside and out on the sidewalk. They need to sell gift cards so we can share the experience with our friends and family.

Yelp
Best pastry I've ever had! I'm going to confidently say that. And the two brothers there are so kind - the kind of owners who will bring you a napkin or a water right as you realize you wanted it. Cozy spot to pop in and pop out.

Dena S.

Yelp
High quality pastries and coffee, friendly service, clean place. I highly recommend the place.

Harnoor G.

Yelp
This café is genuinely one of the cutest spots I've studied at. I'm writing this review because I was searching for a new café to try between classes, and after some exploring, this one popped up. I checked Yelp for reviews on the space, drinks, and pastries but found little information online. Still, since I had already been to most cafés in Berkeley, I decided to give it a shot--and I'm so glad I did. The moment I walked in, I smiled. The cozy lighting, bright red balloons, and beautifully displayed pastries created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I ordered a café latte (solid 4/5 for taste and well-priced for Berkeley) and easily found a spacious three-person table to study at, as it wasn't too crowded. Right away, I noticed how attentive the staff was--one of the owners (as I learned later on) quickly cleaned up a nearby table and even set aside a forgotten water bottle in case the customer returned. Sure enough, when the customer came back looking for it, the owner immediately handed it to them. The hospitality here is unmatched. The owner personally brought my drink to my table and even gave me a free pastry to try! I later learned that this is a family-run business owned by twin French-Algerian brothers, which made me appreciate the café even more. The sense of community was evident--one customer in a wheelchair came in for their birthday, and the owner helped them pick out the perfect cake. It was also great to see that the café is wheelchair accessible, making it a welcoming space for everyone. I love the ambiance, the kindness of the staff, and the study-friendly setup. For students and employees, it's a great spot to work, with affordable house coffee refills. My only critique? The brownie is a bit pricey at $6.50. But overall, I'll definitely be coming back!

Rachel H.

Yelp
This is a lovely cafe with great coffee and delicious pastries. But the best part is that the people here are so friendly! Thanks for making this a lovely spot to grab a snack or get some work done

Laurie D.

Yelp
Such great pastries and coffee! But I think my favorite is how sweet and welcoming they are! So lucky to have them in the neighborhood!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place while having lunch with a friend down the street. I was only going to look, but then I took a gander at the amazing pastries and croissants and was smitten. The service was top notch friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide what to try and ended up getting this cheese filled croissant on recommendation that was amazing. I have to go back to get more! I'm now obsessed. I also tried an apricot cheese croissant and a chocolate croissant and both were amazing. They were having a special on baklava on the counter and though I'm normally not a huge baklava fan, I bought a box of these and let me tell you, I'm now a baklava fan. They were nutty and gooey without being too sweet somehow. I loved them. I can't wait to go back here. Next time, I'm going to sit and try their espresso, and stay a while. Tres bien! C'est tres bon! Merci!

Yelp
Super friendly and kind owners. The coffee is legit and the pastries are to die for. The interior design is elegant and vibe is chill. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, lovely people, and delicious pastries. I love that they have tables inside and outside. Go and check it out if you haven't already done so!

Yelp
I would love to take this opportunity to express my experience with Cafe Parisien. A beautiful little cafe in the heart of Berkeley, the owners are the sweetest you can ever meet. Great service and ambiance! Sweets there are heaven I recommend this place again and again.

V L.

Yelp
Pastries were delicious! Café is cozy and cute. The owners or bakers were authentically kind and helpful. Highly recommend! We don't have pictures because everything was eaten at quickly!

Sheryl S.

Yelp
Spinach quiche and raspberry danish were delicious as was the Affogato and London Fog tea!
google avatar

Nadira S.

Yelp
Excellent vibe ! Great service , friendly staff, If you are looking for elegance and taste go to this place .I highly recommend it for those who are looking for memorable moments with their friends or families.

Evelyn D.

Yelp
Highly recommend Cafe Parisien if you are looking to order a lovely, most delicious cake. Our old bakery (Virginia Bakery) closed a few years ago and we were in search of a high quality bakery for my Mom's 90th birthday event. We found Cafe Parisien and worked with Samia to bake a birthday cake for up to 150 people. The cake (strawberry, banana, chocolate butter filling) was very delicious and beautifully decorated and I could not be happier. A lot of our guests asked where I ordered the cake and especially commented that the cake was not too sweet, it was perfect. Samia asked if I wanted the cake sweet or not too sweet, and I told her not too sweet. OMG it was so delicious and gone by the time I asked for seconds. Highly recommend Cafe Parisien and ask for Samia!

S v.

Yelp
Lovely local cafe with an exquisite selection of pastries. The apple danish is delicious- flavorful and not too sweet, with delicate slices of roasted apple, laying on top of a perfect marzipan and cinnamon layer, hugged by fantastic pastry dough. And the service was both friendly and thoughtful. It's a gem of a spot!

Danielle H.

Yelp
Visited for the first time today. Delicious croissants! Yum! I was served by the owner who was lovely and very friendly. Looking foward to becoming a regular.
google avatar

Tom J.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious, varied, super friendly, and reasonably priced. You must try this place. It has the most delicious pastries and cakes, as well as a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The people working there really seem to care about their business and their customers. So glad this placed opened up! You do not want to miss this one!

Ana P.

Yelp
A neighborhood gem! Breads and pastries taste like they are from Paris. Friendly owners and great service. 5 stars!
google avatar

Berk H.

Yelp
Not to be confused with some chain or other with a similar name. This place is wonderful! The pastries are terrific - and authentic, the attentive and warm service is provided by the French Algerian brothers who have opened this place. It's a great spot to visit with friends over a cappucino and a bite. A pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and quiet enough to hold a conversation. Not overrun by computer users. Plus they are open until 5:00 PM - unlike most other cafes around! A genuinely local business that deserves our support.

Jeff R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and cute spot across from ACCI. Good service, a few tables inside, and metered parking on the street.

Leonard P.

Yelp
Love this place. I go every day. Great coffee, Great pastries made in-house. And I can speak French! A fine addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Vincent K.

Yelp
As a Franco-American, I feel like this will easily become my regular coffee shop. The pastries are a work of art that reminds me of a bakery in France, and the American-style drinks still make me feel like I can get my favorite beverages. The croissants are as good as they look. All I wish is that they sold baguettes! Haha!

Kathryn L.

Yelp
A large choice of pastries, nice decor, and friendly owners. There is a lot to like at this new place. I go often. They were robbed shortly after opening, so I think it is good to show our support by going there.

Bumble B.

Yelp
I don't usually buy croissants, because American croissants tend to be just crunchy. If I want crunchy, I'll eat chips. Like the best croissants I had in France, the croissants from this tiny little cafe are delicately flaky on the outside with an interior that is melt-in-your mouth tender. I can't just eat one. I usually end up eating two! The almond croissants are equally delicious with just enough almond paste and none of the gooey topping. So glad they're in our neighborhood!

Sharon S.

Yelp
I stopped in for the first time today and seriously, their croissants are the best I have ever had. I tried the chocolate and the almond. Both were sooo light, sooo buttery, sooo flaky on the outside, soft on the inside. If I'd eaten these on vacation in France, I'd be dreaming about them. We have a lot to choose from here in Berkeley, but this new place is a total stand-out. The brothers who own it are super-sweet! I watched them being so warm and friendly to people ordering pastries and coffees, and to me when it was my turn. My new go-to place.
