The Best Cafés in Quebec City | Eater Montreal

"Located in trendy Saint-Roch, Café Pekoe is a place where you’ll go for coffee, but come back for the delectable poke bowls, the incredibly satisfying banh mis with fermented veggies, sweet and savoury bubble teas, as well as finger-licking-good homemade ice cream. Expect free wifi, indoor picnic table seating, and very clean restrooms." - Allison Van Rassel

We asked the lady at the counter what to order, and she was so kind and helpful. She gave us lots of recommendations and explained the different types of bubble teas and how they taste. The place itself was very cute. There’s an outdoor seating area that faces a little church, and it gives the whole spot a fun and very French vibe. Inside, the benches and tables were comfy and good for groups. We didn’t try the food, but I saw some sandwiches at another table and in the display case. They looked huge, fresh, and really tasty. The only issue I had was with the temperature inside. It was freezing cold. I asked the lady if they could lower the AC, but she said the whole space is temperature controlled and she couldn’t change it. So I ended up moving outside to work. Other than that, everything else about the place was great.

Really good selection of tea here, with a ton of options to choose from. The tea is really nice and high quality. There's a ton of food options. The banh-mi isn't really a banh-mi though, more of a regular sandwich on soft bread with some pickled vegetables. The outdoor seating area is really nice though, and the staff are absolutely fantastic.

Delightful ice tea was so good on a hot summer day. Interior is cozy and quiet, glad we had a chance to stop by.

As a matcha lover, this is AMAZING. Hands down one of the best place to get matcha in QC. The freshly whisked ceremonial grade matcha foam just melts in my mouth like OOH

A very nice cafe with very cool interior. The space is pretty huge with big benches as well as small table for seating yet it’s always busy. I tried their salmon bagel which was pretty average and their tofu poke bowl which was good. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. Would definitely love to give another visit to this cafe to try more pastries and coffee.

I wish I had a place like Cafe Pekoe near my home, as it was such a treat! The staff are great, the food is great, and the shop is unique. I really enjoyed their Dragon Salad and wish I had more time in Quebec just to eat it again, haha. Their Bahn Mi vegetarian pate was also very delicious. My partner enjoyed the bagel he had as well. The staff were great about checking for food allergies with a book they have right by the register. Also, loved the Canadiano change on the menu ;)

The salmon bagel was to absolutely die for and we still talk about how good it was! Really creamy hot chocolate and pretty good service. Loved the different combinations of cuisine here, would definitely love to visit again!

We came here for a quick morning coffee, and a snack. We tried the carrot muffin and I got a cup of filtered coffee. The baked goods were extremely delicious and the coffee was good too. They have a lot of seating with the large benches for families and they have some smaller tables. They also have a space for you to sit and work with Wi-Fi and electrical outlets. The staff is really helpful and they speak both English and French. I like the space a lot and would definitely recommend a visit.

Yelp
This is a trendy spot. I was looking on Yelp (I practically live on here when visiting new places) and then remembered than Bahn Mi sandwiches exist so I knew what I wanted and headed to cafe Pékoe. The decor is a modern and minimalist. They have a wide selection of teas available I ordered in French and my friend tried and then pointed at the menu when words failed him. This particular server did not seem to speak more than a few words of English but other servers did speak English. I got my sandwich in a few minutes and the brought it to my table. The baguette was exceptional. The sandwich had all the hallmarks of a good Bahn mi, refreshing acidic carrots and cucumbers, tasty mayo, and filling meat. My friend got a Mexican hot chocolate and it was good, it was rich and well spiced.

Yelp
Great place to get some work done! Reliable wifi and several vegan options. Visited several times while I was in Quebec City. :)

Yelp
When we arrived they where all out of the Poke. But The bahn mi was a nice quick lunch.

Yelp
4.5/10: Coffee is decent. Food is less memorable. Bahn Mi is a bit dry. Smoked salmon is odd choice on poke

Yelp
Tasty bubble tea and love the hummus bahn mi. Definitely worth a stop. Plenty of seating.

Yelp
Cute little cafe across from the hotel we were staying at, so we decided to check it out. The decor was simple yet cute. The staff were friendly and very patient in explaining the menu to us. They offer a variety of coffee and teas. But in addition to that, they also have fruit juice and bubble tea. I got a assam black tea latte. It was pretty good. The flavour was strong. But it was not creamy enough. I'm not sure if they used actual steamed milk or just regular water and then added milk. I also got a double chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was okay. Nothing special. Overall, it's a decent cafe, nice place to chill at or studying in

Yelp
It has a good coffee but not bagel. I only visited here once. Will try one more time to complete the review of this place.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee and tea shop. I got a chocolate banana bread as well as a classic chai latte. The spice in the chai was super yummy. The banana bread was moist and rich. The girls who served me spoke both English and French. I don't speak any French but they were still warm and welcoming. The WiFi has a solid connection and was steadily fast. There were quite a few people just chilling and hanging out. It really was a relaxed spot for escaping the freezing outdoors.

Yelp
Super solid cafe! They have only a few food options but all are very yummy. We had the house soup (loaded with vegetables!), a carrot muffin, and their banh mi for breakfast. A very affordable $7 each for breakfast. Service is great! But it got busy so I had to wait around ten minutes for the banh mi and the server forgot that I asked for no coriander in my sandwich - easy enough to pick out though. Really decent portion sizes - the banh mi came on a whole baguette! Came here again for some ice cream and they have a great selection of flavours with toppings. We had the pistachio (soooo good!) and chai (which I forgot that I didn't really like the flavour of) but the ice cream is solid and both flavours were topped with nuts.

Yelp
Really good-tasting bubble tea The Vietnamese sandwiches taste authentic, for a Banh Minh Lover Good service and friendly staff.

Yelp
The service is excellent! The quality of the food was great too! I loved the cleanliness and ambience of this place. Most definitely would come here again if I wasn't only here for 2 days! I had the banh mi and with the pea and spinach soup. The soup was delicious! I would suggest they replace the outside sign with a chalk board and take down the signs on the window ... i think a lot more people would come in that way! The sign is tacky. The inside of the place is very modern and clean!

Yelp
This place was right across from the hotel we were staying at. What a great experience. I had the raspberry hot chocolate and it was the best hot chocolate experience of my life! So good! Atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. We hung out for about 45 minutes before continuing our journey. We'll be back before we leave for bubble tea for sure

Yelp
Never imagined bahn mi for breakfast but it was to die for. Had a super tasty espresso and fresh out of the oven scone which were equally as awesome!

Yelp
A bit pricy, but the matcha green tea latte ICED is a must. Great service and extremely helpful staff

Yelp
Best bubble tea in quebec city ! good food, served warm and available in interesting combos. we had the banh mi, mango watermelon bubble tea and raspberry scones, and everything was excellent. the decoration is on point, with large wooden picnic tables, high ceilings, and big windows open st Joseph street. we only wish we knew this place sooner as this place is a real gem ! such a refreshing change from the usual coffee-cake places :)

Yelp
This place was a welcome respite from a heavy snowstorm last week. They have the BEST hot chocolate I have ever tasted. They also gave a very impressive tea-for-one service, complete with a nice teapot and matching mug. Side note: very clean bathrooms. I cant wait to go back!
