We ended up stopping here randomly on our last day in Montreal. I saw it across the street from the Metro and told my partner we should pop in because it sounded familiar.
Well, I'm so thankful that we did. Because this was likely the best cafe we went to while we were here. Not only did it have the best vibes and was the most Instagramable. It also had great coffee and delicious food. Are you as shocked as I am? I know, it seems like this combination is unheard of.
The entire cafe is split into three different sections: the front half which asks for no laptops between certain hours. The one back half, which has a communal table of sorts. And then the second back half, which has individual tables. These two back halves are totally available for laptops at all hours, so feel free to work there. I totally got a California vibe here with the white, blue and green palette. The cafe also has big windows and a large patio in the front, so depending on what you crave, you can enjoy kinds of vibes.
The cafe operates as a multi-roaster and on this day, they were serving Kittel as a filter roast. It was served extra hot and was brewed just right. I also ended up ordering an iced latte and it was a bit frothy and so wonderfully made.
The food here was well made and really good. Best part: the prices weren't totally outrageous. I ended up ordering a smoked salmon bagel ($12) which came with a side salad. My partner ended up ordered avocado toast with a fried egg ($11). We both left feeling quite full and loved how fresh everything was.
Really wish we had something like this in Toronto. The cloest thing I can think of is Baddies, but Baddies doesn't have wifi. Until then, I'll just dream of the next time I can visit Cafe Pista.
