The Best Montreal Cafés for Working or Studying | Eater Montreal

"Serving the north, east and south sides of Montreal’s downtown core with three cafes, Pista is a café brand that specializes in both coffee and curating spaces good for remote work. Each have their own mood and focus, however, as some highlight local artists while others start to pop corks on natural wines come dinnertime. Wherever you go, coffee is there, as are a selection of pastries." - JP Karwacki

The Best Cafes in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Pista is a classic third-wave coffee shop with three locations to its name, serving up its beans amid pastel tones. Pista caters to a broad audience with various flavour profiles and accessible spaces to work or hang out. The Masson location is its newest — and arguably, the prettiest — and gave the company the freedom to roast its own coffee." - Daniel Bromberg

All the New Montreal Restaurants That Opened in May 2022 | Eater Montreal

"I discovered that the St-Laurent outpost of Café Pista has added an evening program now called Vin Public, turning it into a post-work destination with late hours on Thursdays and Fridays and a food menu by chef Jules Bruneau featuring charcuterie and cheese, carrots with muhammara, and beef tartare." - Valerie Silva

Caffe In Gamba, Pista, and Larue Et Fils Just Opened New Montreal Cafés | Eater Montreal

"I see Pista has paired up with beer bar Pamplemousse for its first expansion on St-Laurent, taking over a former electronics store to create a roughly 2,000-square-foot space with room for about 60 customers. Expect roasts from the Pista team themselves (the original Petite-Patrie café switched to serving house roasts in late 2018), plus a kitchen serving light lunches and weekend brunch. Design is a focus here, with furniture from local firm Alphabet and custom lighting from Hamster, and the space is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1587 St-Laurent; by night it will be used for private groups and cultural events such as vernissages." - Tim Forster

Google
The definition of "independent cafe" when you think of one, but still somehow better. Great lighting and vibes, whether you need to get some work done, or just want to sit with a cup of. (I don't drink coffee so unfortunately no coffee snob opinions here. I had the strawberry lemonade though which was so exquisite I had three glasses; I also had the grilled cheese and soup of the day - today's was butternut squash - and that was tasty and filling!) This will definitely be a must for all of my future Montreal visits.

Best oat milk cappuccino I’ve had yet! Plus it’s lap top friendly and two hours of free wifi!

Google
Popped in this morning before heading to the airport and was thrilled with this cafe. I loved the vibe - quaint and cozy. I was looking for some coffee to take home with me and was helped by a friendly staff member. He talked me through the options and I selected two types to bring home and I’m anxious to try them. I ordered a cappuccino which was as beautiful as it was tasty. Many people were enjoying the environment; some obviously working, others reading, some catching up with friends and then little ol’ me the single traveler. If you’re in the area, highly recommend you stop in and enjoy.

It’s a cute cafe located right next to station Saint-Laurent. The food feels a bit overpriced for the quality though, I spent 15$ on a small carrot cake and a latte and the carrot cake had raisins which was quite the surprise (not in a good way). It was alright, nothing wow. Very cute spot however.

Love this little neighbourhood cafe with speciality beans, nice snacks and drinks. Perfect for a brunch or breakfast with very good coffee and great service. Really enjoyed it here and the staff is very kind

GREAT GREAT VIBE to work or catch up with a friend. Tables are close to each other but the space is open and airy. Different kinds of sittings, tables, counter tops/bars. Lots of plugs and ports to charge your device addiction. Table service is nice to have. Better than waiting at the bar for someone to yell your name wrong and spell it even worst and hand you an charred bean drink. Here the review of the reason you may want to go to a coffee shop... the brews and espresso drinks are great here. Loved my cortado! Perfect steamed milk for a smooth and still strong tasting espresso drink. Wished I had taken a pic before finishing it. Will gladly come back here to oblige my taste buds and caffeine fix. Good job baristas!

After meeting some of the Pista coffee team in Toronto, I came to try their cafe in Montreal while visiting on Canada Day and here are my take aways: • The food is phenomenal! Truly some of the best food I had while staying in Montreal and definitely some of the best cafe food I’ve had period. I had the bah mi & my friends had the cheese sandwich (they were still talking about it on our drive home back to Ontario). • I had hight expectations for their espresso as a barista and I’m glad they didn’t disappoint. They change it up frequently so even in the same weekend, I didn’t have the same espresso twice. Oat flat white 10/10, espresso tonic 8/10 for me! • my friends said their iced matcha lattes could have been better, stating that they were a bit watered down. • customer service was amazing and the barista’s didn’t automatically give up on me when I spoke French—which I personally appreciated but for those who only speak English, they speak English too. Overall, their space is beautiful with lovely vibes and lots of space for working. They have a patio outside as well and a great retail section. For locals, check out their events that they host at the cafe—it’s really fun if you like coffee! I ended up getting one of their shirts 😂🫶🏻.

Google
Beautiful cafe at Quartier des Spectacle. With velvet couches, and sleek mid-century interior it gives the cafe a very cozy and warm feeling. It’s a good place for short study session, quick coffee, or even brunch meetings. Also got to taste their Mexican roast (Luis Ordoñez) and was pretty juicy and delicious. The menu offers a good selection of drinks, pastries and small eateries and is decently priced (small filter $2.60 and croissant $2.50).

Yelp
Adorable coffee shop with more space than you think inside! We went there on a Sunday morning, and had a very nice coffee and tea, with some bakeries. The banana bread was dense, moist and delicious. The scone was savoury with some good sundried tomatoes, although it would not in principle qualify as a scone given its bread-like texture. Pista seems to function like a very modern business. They carry many interesting products, such as natural wines, and from lesser known regions (Slovakia!). Service was quick and kind.

Yelp
Conveniently located spacious cafe with solid food and standard coffee options. Apparently a big bagel place! Their banh mi, served on an everything bagel, was an interesting experience I'd recommend trying. A little underwhelming on the traditional taste -- minimal cilantro, mild pickling. But the bagel touch added a unique airy flair and transformed it into an altogether different experience. The salad was delicious, croissant soggy. The expansive space with plentiful seating+tables makes it seem like a great option to work in.

Yelp
I was visiting from Dallas and found some of the best bagels I've had in my life. The coffee was so good I came back a second time. Simplicity, excellent staff, nice music at a cozy volume, and high quality ingredients bring 5 stars.

Yelp
Pretty spacious cafe, lots of tables for groups! I go there when I meet with other people in show business in Mtl. The employees are usually nice.

Yelp
We stumble upon Cafe Pista on our walk to Ave Mont-Royal for vintage shopping. It was a pleasant surprise with lots of coffee selections in their menu. We went with iced coffees for a refreshing treat. Greg had their special Sesame Oat Latter and I had the Dulce de Leche Oat Latte and both were really well made and sooo delicious. Very different and refreshing from your standard coffee break. We really loved the graphic brand of this place, the open concept and taste in decor. If you need a place to work or gather with people for a meeting this is the place to go! Lots of space to sit and seems like the have a few bites to eat if you get hungry or need a snack. Would love to stop by for longer next time!

Yelp
A very well located, relaxed little shop serving beautifully presented coffee with fruity-citrus notes and a well balanced acid/bitterness to sweetness ratio was just right after a big lunch on a warm day. Accentuate it with a lovely tender giant cookie to satisfy your sweet tooth!
