This place is pretty awesome and the fact that it's nestled in the Yoop is even better. I feel like I am back in Vermont with a touch of U.P. when I am here. I can't express how much I love that they are opting for fresh, local ingredients, offering organic products and really just bringing it back to the basics. The Keweenaw needs more places like this.
I have been here a couple of times and the product is A+, great coffee, excellent sandwiches (I personally love the roast beef with the horseradish mayo) and delightful sweets. The soups have impressed me each time and the bread is homemade, hallelujah! The atmosphere is quite nice and the decor makes the place homey. They have a decent amount of seating and the free wi-fi is a strong signal that makes this a great place for me to post up and get some work done on the computer. The music select is a nice mix, a little bit of this, a little bit of that, not too loud and not too quiet. Oh and I must say THE PRICE IS RIGHT, unbelievably reasonable!
My one complaint is service related. I had great service today, a young gal took my order, was friendly and answered my questions pleasantly and I tipped her accordingly. The guy, a fuzzier looking dude has taken my order in the past and with one word responses made me feel as though maybe I didn't belong there. It's a shame, because today on my way out I said thank you and have a great day and got no response. I'm not asking for over the top gratitude, maybe just a smile? I'm hopeful that I've just coincidentally caught him on the wrong day, we all have bad ones and that that next year when I roll through he will prove me wrong.
So one minor meh isn't going to stop me from coming and I certainly won't stop telling folks to check this place out. It's awesome, I love it and it should be loved by many because it would be amazing if more business's started incorporating fresh, local ingredients; it's great for the local economy and so good for the body and soul, not to mention it tastes so much better! Thank you Cafe Rosetta, the Keweenaw needed you badly and I hope that you are a trend-setter and others start to emulate your practices.
