The croque madame comes with a rich, near-nutty béchamel sauce, the garlic and herb beans are our new favourite reason to not hit snooze, and the welsh rarebit is one of the most profound ways to mainline mustard. There are three Café Rusts dotted around Brighton, but thanks to its charming little patio, the one on Preston Road is our top pick—especially because it’s just a 10-minute walk away from Brighton Open Market’s abundance of artisan candles and food stalls. Very interesting selection of breakfasts, and it all tasted superb. My wife simply had tomatoes on toast and couldnt believe the humble tomato could be so tasty. Welsh Rarebit was excellent as were our coffees. Definitely recommended

A lovely restaurant/cafe, with a good brunch menu. There’s a charming back garden that’s blessed by the sun but there are umbrellas to cover. The food is amazing, delicious and fresh. The sourdough toast is wonderful. I had the avocado and eggs. The cheesecake was great. The service was excellent, the food came out fast. The staff are friendly and welcoming and attentive. Overall, top 5 stars and highly recommended. Shall visit again.

Had brunch & coffee here this morning…. Loved it. Fab food, I had scrambled eggs on sourdough toast & it was served with a salsa verde, which was awesome. My husband had avocado eggs & loved it. Our skinny cortados were amazing too!!! Def coming back. 100% recommend!

We had our wedding party at Cafe Rust last year, and everything about it was fantastic! Anna is the QUEEN of organisation and delicious food, and thanks to her and the team we had the perfect wedding. The cafe looked beautiful, the food was amazing (people were talking for months afterwards about the slow-cooked middle eastern lamb!) and all the staff were so friendly and worked so hard to ensure everything went smoothly. Would 100% recommend Cafe Rust as the perfect venue and it will always hold a special place in our hearts <3

We came for brunch at 11am on Saturday. The food was delicious! We had vegan breakfast, poached eggs and avocado on toast and tiramisu french toast. The staff are super friendly. Hot chocolate was yummy!

The cafe interior is great. The problem is we sat down to a dirty table that didn’t get cleaned, our coffee was not hot and took a long time to get to us by which time we had finished our food. They did give us a bottle of water but with no cups we couldn’t drink it? Quite expensive to be honest as well.

Absolutely loved it in here! Beautiful place, with excellent service, great music and ambiance and a gorgeous little outside space. The food and coffee was divine!! One of the best brunch spots in Brighton in my opinion.

No complaints about the food! Sadly not as good as the other cafes we have visited. The coffee wasn’t quite right, tasted burnt, we did ask for another one. We had to get up to ask our servers for things like water & and salt and pepper multiple times. Shame as we love the Kemptown one!
