18 Bars for Singing Karaoke Around D.C. | Eater DC

"Annandale is jam packed with prime karaoke spots, and Cafe Tu Ah is one of them. Kimchi fried rice, yogurt soju shooters, and Korean chicken wings are also reason to visit. A snazzy touch screen filled with songs lets crooners quickly peruse and play. And fans of Honey Pig Korean BBQ know that Da-in next-door is a great option for private room karaoke." - Adele Chapin

Hi this place is only for business and only for karaoke . The drinks are very expensive and bar tenders are very rude . We ordered Long Island its word I had ever been tasted here . I tried Miami and Maryland I didn’t the taste like this it’s like water you can’t feel alcohol exists in it . Because I know how the Long Island drink it is . It’s a worst drink I have ever tasted in my life and bartender she didn’t take friendly with my reviews she didn’t care about my review and she added gratitude automatically without my permission it’s 20% of the total bill . Don’t come here for every drink and just make sure you are paying for right order and right taste . Because every dollars is counts we are all working hard and we want right quantity of the drink what we pay for . And onion rings also not good .i will Not go this cafe again .

Ive been coming to bar for the past 4 years and the reason I always come back is because the service/food is always consistent and amazing. The two managers there always do their best to accommodate you. The prices for drinks are great if you compare them to DC. If you are looking for a a fun and great time, this is it!

Google
Best karaoke experience ever! The staff was so sweet and explained everything so well and made our experience amazing ❤️ we will DEFINITELY be coming again. Also loved that you could connect to YouTube for even MORE song choices

Google
This is the spot my besties and I go to party when I visit them in Virginia. It's therapeutic to be able to sit in a booth with people you're comfortable with and belt out your fave songs. The staff is super chill and always willing to help us when we don't know how to work the karaoke machine. The food & drinks are absolutely DIVINE. I 1000% recommend this place if you want to get a more private karaoke experience.

Karaoke tablet for YouTube stalls out a lot. Had to ask the attendant for help multiple times. Good food and good service. Parking lot kind of small/limited. so you might have to park at the Domino's or coffee shop next door.

I love coming to Tuah (prob a bit too much 😆) but it's always such a great time. Steven is soooo great and so fun and hospitable. He makes every visit memorable!! Def recommend getting a room if you want a bit more quiet to chat with friends (plus you can sing!!!). 100000% recommend ❤️

Amazing. Skip DC and come here. Great bar prices. Room rental is only $50 an hour. Live DJ at the bar and tables spaced to make a small dance floor.

Google
Been here a few time with my friends and it has been consistently a great time! The spot is nice, staff is very friendly and attentive, the rooms are well maintained, the tech is easy to navigate. There’s just a lot of good things I can say. I will warn you, the Karaoke is pricey (can’t remember off the top of my head) and the food is great but expensive, so eat beforehand if that is a concern for you.

Yelp
Cafe Tuah is the best in the area for Karaoke, Live music with DJs, delicious food, and drinks! The Karaoke rooms have a house system AND a tablet so you can find more obscure songs that likely would not be loaded into any default Karaoke system. The employees are also very nice and will help you figure out how to switch between systems. Its actually really easy! The DJs here have not disappointed! It's actually kind of wild how good these guys consistently are and its not the same DJ every time! The chicken wings... wow the CHICKEN HERE BETTER than most I have ever had. All the other food is also delicious but without fail, I will come here JUST for the wings. The vibes are a huge bonus and theyre always great! Overall come through and have a large variety of fun and food. The vibes are great and everyone is very respectful!

Yelp
I been here enough times to say that Cafe Tu Ah is a staple in the Annandale community. It's here to stay and I don't think they will be going anywhere anytime soon. This place is decorated with so much cool shades of purple and red.. feels like you just walked into a night club or so. It does get to be like that on weekends. I think the crowd here is a bit older since it's been around before Annandale became popular for being a hub for everything Korean. I'm just going to say it right now, I personally don't think the prices for alcohol are worth the money but it's not like you are also forced to buy it too. Pregame if you really need your fix of alcohol but please do not drink and drive if you drink a lot. The karaoke rooms are actually great. In my experience, alot more consist when it came to the songs being able to load. My biggest issue with karaoke places is that songs wouldn't even load, due to bandwidth which can hamper an experience. This is a plus for me. You have a touch screen to select for YouTube videos if you can't find the song you want or an easier way to select the songs you want to sing, or you can go through their catalogue which is a bit confusing. I just stuck with the YouTube option as it's easier for me to load and queue songs. If there's anything I should add, please do not get the room closest to the front. You would probably hate that you can hear the louder music unless you turn the volume up to hear yourself/the tv better. It's a good time with a group of people. I suggest if you do go, always stick with them. I haven't met anyone that weirded me out here but my experience have been good, so far.

Yelp
The decor is soo nice compared to the people who actually come for bar karaoke--almost too nice for the drunk vibes. The rooms are really small and lack ventilation, so doing karaoke was a bit difficult. The tables were sticky and it felt a little unclean, but the price is decent enough. It seemed like people get really lit with karaoke, so it could be fun.

Yelp
Fun experience for karaoke, good drinks, and even better company! Steven and Steph are always so nice and the service is great. They welcome you in just like family.

Yelp
Cafe Tu Ah is my friend and I's go-to karaoke spot in the area. I haven't been here since 2021, but it seems like they have renovated some of their karaoke rooms here. There were six of us this past Friday and we were belting out songs for about three hours ($50/hour for our mid-sized room) so we all paid about $25 each pre-tax & gratuity. We liked that we could connect to Youtube to find more obscure songs (like Chinese songs or Hamilton, lol) that we aren't able to find on the karaoke machine. We got two orders of the house-made yogurt soju, which ended up being $24 each. Definitely not worth it because it was mainly yogurt and ice and not much alcohol. The container was small, too. Don't do buy the alcohol here, just don't do it - either pre-game before coming or just do karaoke sober (which is the best way). They also have a club-esque vibe in the main area which our room was really close to. This meant we could hear all the dunzdunzdunz in our karaoke room. Overall, still a good time but it could have been a better experience.

Emyli G.

Yelp
Friendly staff, cool vibes. I only had the fries but they were pretty good....... I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Came here for the 1st time since Annandale is known for the best karaoke spots. They had a room to accommodate our large group. The only issue is that the bill came up pretty high and gratuity was included when there was no server at all times. We only got drinks and we served them ourselves. We had put a decent amount of cash down but they decided to take the cash and just charge us the full amount. Talk about crooks here. Please be aware of this place and it seems like from the reviews it's not the first time they have done this. I would not recommend this place there are plenty of karaoke spots in Annandale to choose from.

Yelp
It has been a while since I came here but I forgot how aesthetically cute this place is! When you first walk in first thing you see if the bar. It's a dark setting with lots of lights. They have individual rooms for karaoke. The waiter or waitress will come take your orders and will assist you with changing the language from Korean to English (if needed). We also ordered drinks and food. They have a nice variety of American and Korean ginger foods. Love that they have a service button under the table. The waiter comes almost immediately. Over all we had a blast and I recommend everyone to come here. It's so fun any day of the week!

Yelp
Cafe Tu Ah is the place to go! Love this spot for great drinks and the best-fried chicken in the area. Steven the owner of the spot oozes hospitality and you can tell is ready to make everyone feel comfortable and show them a good time. Karaoke rooms are clean and spacious and the service for each room is always on point. I never feel like I'm not taken care of when I'm here. Whether you want a party, casual outing, or a UFC Fight - Cafe Tu Ah is the spot to choose!

Yelp
What a cool little spot. I've never been to a karaoke place so I really enjoyed my time here with my friends. Was a little unsure on pricing but was told it's average of the area. They had an English translation of the remote and had a large number of songs for us to sing. We had a blast and will deff be back

Yelp
OVERALL: review for the karaoke room ONLY. A great place to go on a budget, but the tablet they give you for song selection doesn't work very well and it's all in Korean (they provide a piece of paper with English translations). I went here last weekend and I was really happy to find a small room for $25, which was the cheapest that I've found in the area. They have a lot of rooms, so you might not even need a reservation to come. The person helping us out was very friendly and taught us how to use the Korean tablet for selecting songs. It's not touch screen though, and it's a bit hard to use because everything was in Korean. However, they give you a laminated piece of paper with English translations for all the buttons. We ended up staying for two hours and it was a pretty good experience. The song selection was strange - sometimes they had really new songs, but then they'd be missing popular songs from a few years ago. Also, it was kinda hard to find Chinese songs. And there were a few ants running around the table but as long as you ignore them you'll be fine haha.

Yelp
Amazing crowd! Diverse and welcoming! The food is mind blowing for a Karoake Bar! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Yes, I was a singer for a night. And it all happened here, at Cafe Tu Ah. To conclude our night out, the gang and I headed here for some karaoke. I haven't been to a karaoke bar since my military years, so I thought "why not?" Parking is inside the small plaza in which this place is located. It was not hard to find. Walking in, we enjoyed the nice decor of the place. It was pretty empty, but that didn't bug us one bit. One of the workers led us to a room where our group would have the place to ourselves. There was a large screen, two mikes, and a good amount of seating. Outside these rooms, there is a bar and seating around it. The restrooms are in the back, and were clean. The staff was very friendly, and check out was smooth. I got to sing a few good songs, and some I will not admit to ;-) Check pics for a good insight into this place.

Yelp
Good hourly price for karaoke rooms, the food is pretty decent too - especially the fries! The disappointing part is the drinks - they are suuuuuper weak, basically just juice which was disappointing. Prices also not listed on the menu. Would go again for the karaoke but probably drink at home first.

Marriah J.

Yelp
Great atmosphere if you want to stay local but still want to have fun on friday and saturday ! Get the fried chicken wings you wont be disappointed

K C.

Yelp
Is always a blast, staff is friendly, food good, bottle service not unreasonable. Have brought multiple groups here and everyone loves it.
google avatar

Kuen L.

Yelp
I came here once only for fried chicken because my fiance raved about it. It definitely did not disappoint me. You could get wings or pieces of chopped up chicken meats. We got the chicken chunks with regular flavor. They were surprisingly very juicy. Oh don't forget to ask for their sweet ketchup! It goes with the fried chicken very well! I'd come back and try the garlic flavor next time, maybe do some karaoke as well.

Yelp
I've only been to this place recently, and everytime I went there, their bartenders always made me feel welcomed. Bartender Annie always gave me great drink recommendations, provided me 10/10 customer service every time, and Steven has been very friendly and kind. I'd def come back here again more often.
google avatar

Diego M.

Yelp
Anytime of day Cafe Tu Ah is the right move! Always going there for the fried chicken but the bartender Steven is always makin great food recommendations. The Karaoke catalog is impressive!! It's got everything you can think of on there. Highly recommended
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely fun spacious karaoke bar, offers variety food and drinks! Great price for the hourly room rate. The place is limited on room! Definitely a hidden gem
google avatar

Donna N.

Yelp
Cafe Tu Ah has recently renovated inside and it is a lot nicer. They are currently in the mist of reworking their menus and creating a more cohesive theme to the place. The staff is super friendly and made the experience what it was! The prices for karaoke are the best in the area and super affordable. Whether you want to do karaoke or just have a drink, Cafe Tu Ah is a great place in Annandale for that! Will definitely be the new spot for us in Annandale. Steven who works behind the bar is super friendly and makes awesome drinks and great conversation! Thank you for the excellent service all around! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Not sure what this place is. People are smoking inside so it smells so bad, trying to make us secondhand smoke. My two friends and I got the medium size room because there weren't any small rooms available. The room was ok, but one of the mic didn't even work. We asked for help, but they couldn't fix it. A lot of the features of the karaoke machine doesn't work either, which was really annoying. The workers still charged us $35 (medium size room price)+ tax+15% automatic gratuity. Not sure why they are charging automatic gratuity, they don't even do much for the customers. When we complained that the karaoke room had some issues, the workers said that he knew the room has problems and can't do anything about it. Why would they give us the room if they knew the room is bad? They didn't give any discount or good service.
google avatar

Kyungeun P.

Yelp
This place is run by crooks. A group of us came here after a birthday dinner nearby, and our night turned sour after coming here. The service is absolutely deplorable. They are not upfront about prices and hell-bent on trying to squeeze every last buck out of their customer. If you would like water - be very specific you want tap water. We were charged $40 - let me repeat, FORTY DOLLARS - for water. I asked why we were charged $40 for water, and they said it's because they served us water bottles, the kind you get for $3.99 for a pack of 36 at Safeway. It wasn't even fancy water! It was Safeway brand or the nestle pure water one. They refused to discount any bit at all. They then had the audacity to add gratuity (it was 18 or 20%) to our bill. Was the +1600% markup of our drinking water not enough?

Yelp
The bartenders here are weird. Really weird. Like hooking for tips weird. A few friends and I decided to get together the day before Christmas Eve to bust out a few Wham tunes and shake off the holiday stressfulness. We entered the bar and realized that there was going to be wait for a private karaoke room so we decided to just sit at the bar. The waitresses were outrageously flirty, opting to move behind the bar to sit right next to the obviously taken guys to hold deep conversations with them making all of us feel deeply uncomfortable. When one of the bartenders learned of my recent engagement (BTW IM ENGAGED Y'ALL!!!!!) she grabbed my hands, stared at my ring, and started telling me about her recent divorce and how sad love was. Umm...more soju please? Every time I ordered a drink the waitress kept trying to talk to me in Filipino even though I told her that I do not speak Tagalog. The whole experience was really odd but I rolled with the punches and had a good time (thank goodness for alcohol right?). When I paid my tab, the head bartender (who seemed really nice and normal) apologized (we didn't complain at all but maybe she saw the bewildered look in our eyes) and promised that they would treat us better next time. My boyfriend (fiance!!!) promised me that we will NEVER go to that place again but honestly...curiosity has gotten the best of me and there will probably be a next time. PS: $20 for soju cocktails ....enough for 12 shots!

Yelp
Far drive but I'm always willing to drive just to have their KFC - Korean fried chicken - and sing some great karaoke. It's $45 for a large room and $35 for a medium size room. But if you spend $150 you get 2 hours for free. If you plan to stay for over 3 hours and get food and drinks, you will easily get that 2 hours for free. The rooms are comfy. Large screen with 2 mics. Long list of American songs and even songs in other languages. If you need service, theres a button near the door that you can press so don't have to get out of the room and find your server. When you try this place get the fried chicken. It's a must try. The fried chicken is ridiculously juicy and ridiculously crispy. They are made to order, so when they bring them to your table it's always fresh and hot! Really awesome place for a great night out with friends. The owner is really nice too, he even sometimes come in our room and size a long with us.
google avatar

Adeline E.

Yelp
I've visited this place about four times with my friends, and last night was THE WORST experience I had at Cafe Tu Ah. This is solely for the karaoke. 1. While there, we moved to three different rooms because their machine didn't not work properly. 2. The waiter came into the room, rushing us to pay first before finishing up because it was 30min before their closing time. (This was understandable because.. hey, who doesn't want to go home after a long day of work?) BUT! They charged us extra 30min without asking or letting us know in advance. We had to ask what the extra charge was, and they kept coming up with different justifications for the charges. 3. The waiter came back with our signed receipt, demanding tips from the people who decided not to leave any tips. We ordered beverages on our way in, but did not request for any other services/food. We should've listened to other yelpers. We definitely did not enjoy ourselves there and probably will not return.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
I've been here with a group of friends several times. This place as a bar is "interesting". It's definitely not my first choice for happy hour or somewhere to start the night because it's always dead when I come in. But one of my friends in our group loves coming here for the fried chicken. I've had a lot of fried chicken all over the country so I just had to try it here. The fried chicken was heavenly. They have elevated the classic southern fried chicken. SO. GOOD. Overall -- the service is okay and the only food I've had here is the fried chicken. The drinks are pretty expensive but as long as they have that phenomenal fried chicken, I won't hesitate to come back. So if you come here for any reason, it should be the fried chicken. ... did I mention the Fried Chicken is amazing?
google avatar

Donald P.

Yelp
Came here for a few beers after Cafe Noir on a Friday night. I thought it was pretty comfortable and wouldn't mind coming back again.
google avatar

Sam J.

Yelp
Karaoke rooms are okay, everything worked for me and the machines are great. However, the foods are WAY OVER PRICED. Food taste great and it's good but the portions are smaller than you think and it is not worth the price. For food, dont buy it here. Go out somewhere else and you will get better food with these prices.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends and I had a blast!! The service was great, super friendly! Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Sam W.

Yelp
This place is only worth going to if you have 10+ people to splurge on a private room...an evening there with a bunch of pitchers, shots, food, and room rental will run you about $50-60 bucks a person. For awesome karaoke and unbridled shenanigans this place is great. Food and beverage service is decent to very quick and staff is friendly and patient with large parties...If you order food, order the fried chicken!!! The down-side is, the actual karaoke system can freeze up from time to time (they are very quick to fix though), and they also haven't updated their song lists since probably 2010 with 90% of the songs they have being classics form 1990 and back...still who doesn't love singing the classics!?
google avatar

Edward I.

Yelp
This is my go to spot almost every weekend. The bartender Steven is really nice and entertaining . He makes bomb ass piña colada's and my friends all love him. Recommend this spot !

Yelp
To be totally honest I don't know what constitutes "tong dak". It's definitely Korean-prepped chicken. But I've heard people say tong dak when referring to BonChon chicken, roasted chicken, and breaded fried chicken. I was dragged here by someone craving tong dak. I thought she meant the roast chicken - so I was not very excited. Saw the exterior and was already hating the place. We went inside - I was hoping the horrible interior would persuade us to leave. Music was way too loud and the place was darker than Houston's. But.. The tong dak was good. Really good. I stopped whining. It was a simple deep-fried breaded chicken. It was crisp and juicy. Perfectly seasoned - nothing too fancy but mouth-wateringly tasty. Came with two different dipping sauces. Both spicy. One more vinegary and another more sriracha-ish. The chicken was served piping hot. The wait staff was helpful. They even turned up the lights for us. I should note we were there just after opening (530pm) and were one of only 3 parties being served.
google avatar

Ina C.

Yelp
Tacky! The food was alright, the service was pretty good, but everything else about this place was completely tacky. Let's start with the decor. The dark wood is nice, the ambient lighting - fine. But they've got white AND multi-colored Christmas lights all blinking at random! And they've got these sparkly things hanging from the ceiling probably to give the place some pizazz - which would look fine at a place like Oya - but it just doesn't work here. Next, the music. Our server had to ask us to repeat things over and over again because they couldn't hear us over the obnoxiously loud music! This is a bar & restaurant! No room for dancing. If there's no dancing, the music should be at a reasonable volume! Why do Annandalians not understand this? (See my Ara review http://www.yelp.com/biz/ara-fusion-restaurant-annandale#hrid:4E7E2L_7iHDamKSwZdnpbQ/src:self) The food was fine, but nothing special. The company was great and I don't want to complain, but let's not come back here, please!
google avatar

Yelp
Rip off joint. Don't go. Cigarette holes on seating. Cheated on drinks. Food substandard Korean food. Odd song selections. Echo chamber in the extreme. Overpriced. Hard working staff though. Very sorry.

Yelp
3.5 Stars After our dinner we were desperately looking for something to do when a friend brilliantly suggested we find a Karaoke bar. I am from the Bay Area, California, so we have plenty of bars around there, but I had never seen, let alone heard of a Karaoke bar in DC. So I pulled out my iphone, types in Karaoke in google maps, and went to the first one I saw. Cafe Tu Ah. I called and the guy on the phone answered in Korean. Too bad I don't speak Korean. LUCKILY, we had a person in our party who could. We told them to hold a room for us, they said they would but we had to get their ASAP. Well, we got there, and they had given our room away because we took too long. Oh well, we killed about 30 minutes by drinking and laughing, then a room opened up and we went in. If you havn't been to a korean karaoke place, they are HILLARIOUS. They have such random backround music videos to the songs, that usually have NOTHING to do with the song you're singing. I think they are snippets from Korean romance/action movies depending on the tempo of the music. They provide you with tamborines and the microphone has a built in echo to make you feel like a rock star. The room was nice and cozy, and is great for big parties. For 8 people, Drinks and 2 hours of Karaoke came out to about $150 dollars. Not bad considering the amount of fun we had. Cafe Tu Ah was the perfect way to finish off our night of eating, drinking and being merry. But if you do decide to go, for the love of god, have someone with you who is fluent in Korean.
google avatar

Sang K.

Yelp
The good old Tu-Ah days. The food is a-ok and the drinks prices are average. They were slow to follow the $9.99 soju bottle trend but they eventually caved. Back when I used to go frequently, the bartenders were horrible bartenders. Always looking in books to get the drinks right. And even after looking at the book they mixed drinks there were horrible. Thankfully I am not a mixed drink person at all. Except for Gin or Vodka Tonics. The food is overall very good. Tong-Dak is good although it's not cooked in the traditional roasted fashion. There's only a couple other chicken places I prefer over Tu-Ah and that's BonChon and Red Rooster in Damascus, MD. The Dubu Kimchi is excellent and almost everything I had on the menu was very good. Although I have NO idea why butter corn for 10 bucks in on the menu. The atmosphere. They play a good balance of Kpop and American music. They have multiple TVs there and they will turn the channel at your request. We often went to see fights on HBO or Showtime. And college football matches got a lot of play there.

Yelp
This place is a bar/restaurant/karaoke room place. it's pretty cool. I wouldn't go here again unless my friends wanted to go there. The service is good, the singing is good. it's definitely someplace you'd want to go to play, but as i said in my review for damoim, i'm biased because of my experiences in seoul and LA. It's got a korean beer house type feel too it. dark interiors and all, wood paneling, etc. I guess I was in the mood for something cheerier. Anywhooo. The biggest disappointment regarding this place is the chicken. Everyone raves aboot the chicken which they call "tong dak". but it's not really tong dak. it's friend chicken. tongdak is like a big buffalo wing sans sauce. fried up with no batter. you rip it apart and dip the pieces into a mixture of pepper and salt. Anyway, for fried chicken, it was pretty good. but it wasn't as good as BBQ.
google avatar

Sylvie S.

Yelp
Stopped by on Saturday night for an impromptu small gathering. We didn't sing so I can't comment on that. The place was completely dead. The bartender was nice and kept the popcorn flowing and drinks are reasonably priced. The place was meh. Their fried chicken, though, let me tell you, was ridiculously good. It was so good I almost died. GET THE FRIED CHICKEN.

Yelp
Amazing amazing fooooood!!! Fried chicken was crispy and tasty! Loved the rooms great to have big groups of ppl for bday parties!

Nica D.

Yelp
Best karaoke place ever!! The bartender is the best! Everyone's super nice. Make sure you order the Nica and the Carla drink--especially made for me and my friend Carla ;)

J W.

Yelp
My friends and I went to Cafe Tu-ah for karaoke and there were communications issue and the service was okay. We had ordered rounds of drinks and was going to split the charges because they charged us with 1 bill with just a total so we asked for details of what's been charged. Then the server (possibly the owner, older man) became very irritated and did not want discuss any details with the bill and he just charged to one card one of my friends had and told us to leave. we did not enjoy ourselves there and would NOT recommend going there unless you don't care how you are being treated or charged.

Shukri S.

Yelp
We come here for karaoke but the last time the computer kept freezing and we spent most of our hour trying to fix it. When we complained the employee restarted the system and it was loading for 10 minutes before we decided to leave. They charged us for an hour and a half. Today one of the Mics didn't work but they fixed it. They also charge gratuity (even if you don't order anything) in addition to the 45 dollars/hr to use a room.

Yelp
I had my wife's surprise birthday party here with about 20 friends. It went perfect! The staff was awesome and the food was great. The music selection was good and everyone had a blast.

Yelp
Well. It's a noraebang. The fact is that it does have an exterior bar area as well as private singing rooms. The rooms are clean and the songs are current. The service is prompt and you can get backup singers at an additional cost. It is $35 an hour but free if you order over$150 worth of anju(Korean apps) and drinks. Best noraebng in annandale at the moment.

Yelp
Great place and really friendly staff! The room we got placed in was huge and nicely furnished/decorated. You could probably comfortably fit 8-10 people in there. At the end of the night I accidentally left my coat and they kept it for me to pick up the next day. Even put it in a bag so it wouldnt get dirty haha I'm really grateful for that and I can definitely see myself coming back again!
