Yelp
Cafe Turko is one of the more comprehensive Turkish restaurants in the area. By that, I mean a bigger restaurant with a bigger menu; there are Turkish food eateries, too. The food seems quite legit, even though we only sampled two dishes. Their seasonings are very flavorful. The large restaurant is beautifully decorated and well-staffed. Even though we didn't make a reservation, they were able to seat us after a brief wait. Service was cordial and helpful. No issues.
The Food:
Ali nazik with lamb, $27 - 4.5 Stars
Menu: Sautéed lamb served on top of grilled eggplant, tahini, yogurt and garlic sauce
Mediterranean countries know how to do lamb well, and this dish is no different - very tender meat that went well with the sides.
Beyti with eggplant, $21 - 4.5 Stars
Menu: Sautéed eggplant, peppers, onions, garlic, and feta cheese wrapped in lavash bread and baked for crispiness, served with yogurt and garlic sauce and seasonal salad and homemade pickles
Beyti is traditionally a meat dish, but I chose the eggplant version. The inside is mushier without the meat texture, but I expected it and am perfectly ok with it. The Mediterranean seasoning is wonderful. The lavish bread wrapping is excellent.
Seven Spice Fries, $10 - 4 Stars
Menu: Golden and crisp fries bowl seasoned with 7 spices, served with tomato sauce
Let's face it. It's an American dish for our amusement. But hubby saw fries and wanted fries. Lol. To their credit, it's very crispy. In case you are wondering, tomato sauce is indeed ketchup.
Rose Mocktail, $5 - 4.5 Stars
Menu: One of the most popular refreshments served in Ottoman Palace, aromatic rose sherbet and lemonade mixture served with floating rose petals.
I have a passion for rose flavors, and I eyed this beverage on tables as we entered. Refreshing rose flavor. Ah, so good!
