"I noticed refreshed menus influenced by Yigit Pura—who returned as executive pastry chef for SF’s Global Gourmet Catering—being rolled out at Cafe Valor." - Janelle Bitker

I came back for the delicious gluten free chocolate cookie but I'm leaving miffed by the service! Not one smile and just overall near rudeness like she would rather I had left her alone! I tried to pay with cash but they don't have coins to return change. As I didn't want to add any more to the already rather expensive treat (at more than $5.50!) I used my phone instead. The register wouldn't do anything so she had to use the portable machine. But the even more annoying thing was when I mentioned that it's too bad the power bowl contains bulgur wheat (couscous) because otherwise I could eat it. Being gluten free, not by choice, and pescetarian, there is barely any food I can have there... Anyway, she completely ignored me and I could see the internal eye rolling. Truly appalling customer service. All she had to do was acknowledge the suggestion. We all have bad days but when working in customer service, don't take it out on your customers 🤷🏼‍♀️

Used to be one of my fav cafes pre-pandemic. Glad it re-opened, but not the same. Coffee is still good. Baked goods look stale and staff are not so friendly.

Quiet, small calm cafe serving the works. Ordered an Iced Dirty Chai which tasted like fall time. I stopped by around 11 am - I imagine the vibe is different when there's a performance taking place at the same time. The woman who made my drink was kind and quick with it.

I love the cafe, but the hours are very strange, and I find myself choosing other options when looking for a coffee or tea. A lot of people who work in the building start their day before 8:30, and would love to go to cafe valor instead of the nearby starbucks, peets, and bakeworks. Having a Monday and Friday open and a mid-week closure would also probably bring in a lot more people looking to treat themselves before or after a weekend. Other than that, the staff is wonderful, and everything I've had has been great. I just can't access the cafe when needed, so I choose another shop.

The people are lovely. I had a chai latte that was very much adequate, no complaints. It was relatively quiet mid-day on a Wednesday

I’ve been there multiple times and I always recommend this cafe to my friends and coworkers. Big fan of the dirty chai latte especially!
