The restaurant experience was satisfactory. The cuisine was somewhat uninspired. Specifically, the tuna appetizer lacked flavor, and the beef entree was not as tender as anticipated. However, the service was exceptional, with staff demonstrating remarkable friendliness.

Just a short five-minute walk from Leiden Central Station, on the charming Stationsstraat, you’ll find Café Visscher — a place that instantly draws you in with its Bohemian charm and warm ambiance. The interior is beautiful, stylish yet cozy, and the staff’s friendliness makes you feel right at home. We had a lovely table by the window, watching the city come alive with the excitement of the upcoming Leiden's Ontzet celebrations. The menu is a feast of creativity, offering refined dishes with harmonious flavors and beautiful presentation. Every plate felt like a small work of art. If you appreciate cuisine that combines elegance with soul, this is the place to be. Prices are slightly above average, but the quality and experience make it worth every euro. Café Visscher is a delightful spot we’ll surely return to very soon.

We had a great dinner with the lobster soup, crab brioche and the sirloin steak. With the appetizer we had two glasses of champagne which paired perfectly with the crab brioche and the supplementary caviar.

A hidden gem just steps from Leiden Central Station! We had lunch at Café Visscher and loved it — a beautiful interior, warm service, and a relaxed atmosphere. From our window table, we watched the lively scene outside while enjoying a creative, flavorful menu with every dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. If you love good food, great ambiance, and genuine hospitality, this place is a must.

Lively setting, nicely decorated interior. Great service. Food was delicious from bites to madeleine at the end. Loved it and will be back!

The name café is an underestimate for what it really is, great restaurant. Nice atmosphere, very good food and reasonable pricing. The staff is very friendly but sometimes they forget something. But anyhow do recommend the place and will return.

Amazing food with a rich variety of tastes. We were surprised about how creative the ingredients can be arranged on a plate. The service staff is friendly and quick.

I completely concur with Epicurian Flow’s review — this place is delightful. We walked in for lunch without a reservation straight from the train station. My husband had the gnocchi, and I had the tuna salad. Beautifully presented food, prepared and seasoned perfectly, all in a chic, boutique-y feeling atmosphere. A lovely place for a civilized lunch.
