Café Xander

Outstanding staff, amazing food, slightly awkwardly pretentious.decor. The fish I had was really phenomenal, and so was a chocolate dessert. An eggplant starter was also really very good. The fish soup - really nice, slightly small portion. The garlic soup was maybe a bit bland.

I was very disappointed with my visit. To begin with, the restaurant did not have risotto or meat on the menu (perhaps because it was Sunday?), which was unfortunate since that was exactly what we were hoping to order. Instead, we chose pasta. The waiter mentioned that it was extremely spicy, so I requested it without. What I received, however, was an oily pasta with just a hint of garlic. Moreover, the pasta was not al dente but rather tough and chewy. I also tasted my friend’s pasta with chili, which turned out to be more flavorful and not at all spicy as the waiter had described. I regretted relying on that recommendation. For dessert, I ordered a brownie advertised with caramel and white chocolate. Unfortunately, it tasted more like a dense, ordinary cake with barely any caramel at all. I would rate the pasta 3/10 and the dessert 1/10. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Still, I find it difficult to understand how this restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star.

I recently visited Café Xander in Sopot and had an absolutely amazing experience. From start to finish, everything surpassed my expectations, from the delicious food to the impeccable service. What impressed me the most was the consistency in the service. My server was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that my needs were met throughout the meal. The staff seemed genuinely passionate about their work, as they readily answered my questions and engaged in friendly conversation. The menu itself offered a wide range of options, making it difficult to choose just one dish! The food at Café Xander was a true culinary delight. Each dish was expertly crafted, with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced, and the dishes were beautifully plated. It was evident that the chefs put a lot of thought and care into every aspect of the gastronomic experience. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot for a date night or a place to catch up with friends, Café Xander is the perfect choice.

The restaurant is gorgeous, the atmosphere and mood is perfect. The food was high-end and wonderful. In the pics: peas soup and mushrooms risotto. A little comment - the tagliatelle with beef dish needs some changes - the beef coated with flour isn't great and the dish is rather very spicy.

We had a wonderful time there. A stylish place with relaxed vibes. Our waiter was polite and knowledgeable; wine suggestion was spot on. Food was beautifully presented, innovative and tasty. I really enjoyed smoky venison tartare. Spare ribs with kimchi were a delight. We had late Sunday lunch, not too crowded so we were able to have nice conversation and enjoy the ambience. I will be back...

Extremely disappointed. We have visited other restaurants in the region that have got praise from Guide Michelin, so for this visit we thought we should try Xander to see if it is a rising star or not. To start with it took two persons to see that we where booked, and than no one directly offered to help with the coat. After being seated we got the menus and asked for two cocktails. While waiting for the cocktails we looked thru the menu and the wine list and realised that they only had a handful of average wines on glass. Also the food menu was kind of thin and average. Not so much of interest, and definitely not easy to pair with wine on glass. We decided to end the "relationship" before going any deeper into this disaster. We left the restaurant and went to a local wine bar that starts with the letters Viniss... And what a dinner!!! Now we are talking! If you are looking for exceptional food, drinks and service, please consider another restaurant than Xander.
