The 15 Essential Regional Foods of the Pacific Northwest | Eater

"An Oregon-based fast-casual chain whose customizable rice-and-bean bowls are elevated by a cult-favorite tangy 'secret' sauce (lemony, chickpea-forward with nutritional yeast and a hollandaise-like texture) and a spicy jalapeño-sesame salsa that turns an otherwise simple burrito bowl into a regional staple." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
I love Café Yumm! The food is absolutely delicious, and the workers are so kind and hardworking. They take pride in their work and ensure that the quality is excellent. They take any food allergies serious! This place is also great if you have any dietary restrictions. And the atmosphere is very comfy and relaxing and very clean. If you’re on Monroe, I recommend to check it out! <3

Google
Food was alright but the organic tofu skewer was kind of dry. There’s a decent amount of people who go here and I feel like there needs to be more than just one bathroom stall because someone tried breaking/opening the bathroom while I was using it. Or maybe have a sign or something that will let other people know that the bathroom is occupied.

Google
Great food and great atmosphere. Food is a bit pricey but good portions. Located just across from OSU Campus, the parking can be a bit challenging.

I had an amazing experience here the other day, the employees are so nice and very helpful! They are quick and efficient and got my food out it in just a couple minutes. the lobby is very nice and clean and has a very nice aesthetic. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and I highly recommend!

Google
The food is soooo good, I can have it almost everyday. My TOGO place❤️

Google
Cafe yum is always solid. Has never failed me, though you can make a yum bowl at home for cheaper.

Google
I had a great experience at this Café Yumm location. The customer service was outstanding—very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the avocado salad, and it was fresh and absolutely delicious. I really enjoy coming to this spot and will definitely be back for more!

Google
Let me tell you why I love this location: the OSU Cafe Yumm. First, the place is always clean, staff can be seen frequently sweeping or wiping tables. Second, the cashiers are really friendly. They seem to know all the regulars by name and know what they order. Third, the food comes out fast and is consistent in quality. I can always count on this location for a delicious meal!

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner before heading to Monroe. Love the Yumm sauce! Was craving a lot of protein on mine so I added chicken AND tofu! (Not pictured cause I ate too fast lol) the cashier was very patient with our intricate orders. Very casual vibe. Wish they had a better way to sort out the trash after dine in. Would come back again!

Yelp
I used to love this place and I recently had a good in house lunch with my mom and a friend. However, last night my DoorDash order was a disaster. I ordered the edamame bowl and they were out of edamame so I added nori to an original bowl. It arrived totally cold. I stupidly ate it and paid the consequences later.

Yelp
Cafe Yumm? Yes. This Corvallis location? No. I've lost my patience with the haphazard quality of food that I get here when I order takeout. I've been eating Cafe Yumm for years from this location and it is frustrating that starting about six months ago, every time there is something wrong with my order. I order off the menu, like "original bowl", and never ask for anything to be left off or substituted. I no longer wonder if something will be missing, the only question is what will it be. Feeling taken for granted. Looking for somewhere else to go. To get my fix, I'll have to be content with other locations like PDX when I'm passing through there (a rock solid location, by the way).

Ryn K.

Yelp
Food is good with decent portions. Service is friendly. Ordered to go so didn't notice the ambiance.

Yelp
I've been to all of the Eugene locations, however this location remains my favorite! The restaurant is always clean, service is friendly, quick and efficient and my orders are always on point. Some of my favorites are; Yumm! Bowl - Hot 'n' Jazzy, Yumm! Bowl - Chilean Zucchini, Yumm! Bento BBQ Tofu, Yumm! Bento Teriyaki Tempeh.

Aleta M.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service and very clean restaurant. Great place for vegan options but can still get meat if you prefer.

Yelp
On my 3rd trip ever to Corvallis tonight... looking forward to my 3rd order from Cafe Yumm! later this week!

Yelp
We picked up an order to eat at our hotel. Excellent food! Since we've all been ill, it was nice to order the kid size bowls--just enough food! We also got salads for a later meal. They look delicious as well. Order was filled correctly and quickly. Now if we just had one of these back in northeast Texas!!

Maycee G.

Yelp
Good healthy fast food option. Always good service. Consistent quality. Good for take-out.

Yelp
Pretty good. The fourth star is for the outstanding service. I was disappointed that there is not an ingredient list for the menu items though - as someone with uncommon food allergies, that made it very challenging to choose something that was for-sure safe to eat. (Plain salad for the win?) They have a huge book of allergens, but it is by common allergen and not by menu item. That being said, my salad was very fresh and everything in it was good quality and tasty. I really appreciated the efforts the staff made to try and find what I needed.

Yelp
After my last review, I got over the missing avocados and realized how freaking delicious this place is. Is it the sauce? The healthy options? Probably the sauce, either way it is bomb. When I lived in Corvallis I ordered the bbq tofu AT LEAST once a week. I've since graduated and moved to a new place, but one thing remains the same - MY LOVE FOR CAFE YUMM. Probably a huge case of "don't know what you got til it's gone" and let me tell you, I am OBSESSED. It's not even just me, my friends and I talk about cafe yumm almost every time we get together, and this is years after leaving Corvallis or anywhere remotely close to a cafe yumm (devastating). I used to race to the other terminal before my flight at PDX so I could eat cafe yumm. My sister goes to school in Portland now and I make her bring home two bottles of that dang yumm sauce whenever she comes home. I've tried to recreate the bbq tofu skewer several times to no avail. I think I finally nailed it, hence this updated review. Who knew bbq sauce and yumm sauce go so perfectly together? This place has changed my taste buds forever.

Yelp
If you haven't had Cafe Yumm!, what are you even doing with your life?! Yumm! Bowls are beautiful, delicious and nourishing! If you need a quick meal that will fill you up without weighing you down, try out the Original Yumm! Bowl or the Spicy Teriyaki Yumm! Bowl. I promise you won't be disappointed! Special shout out to one of my favorite managers in Corvallis - Aleta. She has managed this location for over a decade, and her experience and dedication shines through. You won't find a more friendly, inviting place to eat!

Tara D.

Yelp
I love the yumm bowls and they are perfect for lunch on the go or lunch at a desk. Employees always seem pleasant and professional.

Yelp
I think Cafe Yumm is probably one of my favorite chains to eat at. Although the photo of takeout isn't the most glamorous, I love how well the food can be packaged safely and efficiently so at least you get any idea of what to expect. It's relatively healthy food, maybe not the "Yumm" sauce so much. But everything else is fresh. And the sauce is the bees knees so it's worth having on all of the bowls. It's also nice because it's a fast place to eat because most ingredients are already prepared. It's great that you have sizes to choose from also, I can usually get just the perfect amount t of food for what I think is a fair price. Definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be aware that at the Corvallis location it can be a bit tricky to find a parking spot especially when students are flooding campus.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been to a cafe yumm. Eating the delicious food today made me remember how much I love this place. Great food, excellent customer service. The chicken breast was my favorite part.
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten here once and I've gotten a to-go order from here once too. The great thing about this place is that the service is really fast and the employees are nice! This is a good option if you want to eat healthy, but you're in a rush. There's a good amount of seating as well! There's an upstairs and downstairs area and if the weather is good there's a few spots outside. I've gotten the chicken yumm bento both times I've been here! I like it because it's filling and doesn't make me feel too unhealthy. The yumm sauce and teriyaki sauce are both great! When I came with my friend, he got the edamame bowl and said that he always gets it because the combination of ingredients in the bowl tastes really good! I think this is one of the pricier places on Monroe considering the amount of food that comes with your order. The yumm bowls aren't big at all, but they're over $8 which seems very overpriced since you could get a more filling meal with that money. However, there are a lot of healthy options here which is nice! I came here during finals week to get the chicken to go since I was too busy to cook and tired of getting so much Chipotle earlier on in the week. I'll definitely be back!

P L.

Yelp
So fresh delicious tasting bowl! Definitely going back! Got the jazzy bowl with chicken and the smoky bowl with seasoned organic tofu

Yelp
Been going to this cafe yumm for 10 years since being in college. It's always tasty and fresh, great customer service as well :)

Michael G.

Yelp
Cafe yumm more like cafe yuke found 5 hairs in my burrito. I wish I could put a 0 star
google avatar

Breanne W.

Yelp
If you like it in a bowl or wrapped in a tortilla this a great place. Yumm sauce was a brilliant invention. Vegetarian options are available or you can add meat. Spicy sauce isn't super spicy, so I took a star. It's a chain, but this location right by OSU has always been awesome. Only problem is limited parking if it's busy. Food always tastes great & all the staff is quick & friendly.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
I enjoyed a great bowl here . Excellent vegetarian options for fast food. Very filling.
google avatar

Kat J.

Yelp
Called in an order 30min before I needed it, and paid over the phone. But when I got there I waited in line for them to serve their own employees first and with only one cashier they took their time ordering. Once it was my turn, they not only didn't have the food, they insisted they never received my call and then would not recharge me. I then had to wait an addition 20min for my food despite plenty of food slowly coming out of the kitchen. Not efficient, not good customer service and a complete waist of time! NOT WORTH IT!! Now I've paid twice without a way of resolving it, no receipt proof either since they wouldn't provide one. I'm left to declare it fraud on my card for the incorrect double charge. WONT BE BACK!
google avatar

Allison A.

Yelp
Got a couple of bowls and cookies with yum sauce. Gluten free and vegetarian options. Seriously so delicious, bonus that they deliver, will be back!
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
Yumm! sauce is not something I have ever found elsewhere in terms of taste or concept. There are recipes out there to make it at home, but I think the charm for me in having a Yumm bowl in the brightly colored, sturdy bowl of good food (alternatively available in a white take out container should you desire this), steaming with beans, rice, avocado, olives, tomato, cilantro, sour cream, THE sauce, and whatever else you decided hits the spot. I was a traditionalist for a long time but had the spicy Jazzy bowl a few days ago and it was perfect. Recovering from winter head crud (a cold) the sesame jalapeno salsa was the taste that came through most profoundly, and in a great way. This location on campus is convenient, cute, newer, and full of friendliness and good food. What else do you want?
google avatar

William D.

Yelp
Went for lunch with the girls after a tour @ OSU.... Had the Hot & spicy bowl, jasmine rice ,red beans, yumi sauce, avocado, jalepeno sauce...most excellent. The lizard had the turkey ruben(which I mooched a half of)& it was also very good. Liked the the Yumi sauce soo much we bought a small container $3.95.... Great place for vegatarians
google avatar

Mandi R.

Yelp
Either you love the Yumm sauce or you don't. I am one of those unlucky people to be absolutely smitten with it. Although I discovered some items to be highly caloric upon exploration of the Cafe Yumm website, it really depends on the size of the item and how much sauce it has/you like. The workers are generally very friendly and willing to work with my complicated order (take away cilantro, tomatoes, red salsa; add olives, Yumm sauce). It gets pretty crowded around the lunch hours, and I mostly bypass the headache by calling ahead so that it is ready when I get there. If you like vegetarian and health foods, or simply want to try something different, this place is truly YUMMy!

Anka A.

Yelp
Ordinary - you can easily make at home, but quick take out meal that's pretty healthy. The organic tofu was good!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
I really like this place, I generally get the Yumm bowl. My boyfriend and I even opted to get a bottle of Yumm sauce to take home and try making our own bowls. It was definitely a success! The cabbage salad that they have however is a little harder to duplicate! So, I'll be needing to go back soon (:
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
Yum! Always shocked how quickly I get thru their line when it's busy and the food is always good and consistent. Friendly staff :)
google avatar

Omar A.

Yelp
My server was extremely rude during the transaction. When did it start to become ok to not respond back to people, when you ask them hey how's it going?- I'm taking a moment out of my day to ask about your well being, just be nice and show your manners. Ones that your parents have missed on teaching them to you, apparently. Then when you spit out the words of my order, almost mumbling on them without a single sec of eye contact, snatch the card, throw the receipt. Not even a thank you. At least don't hire this person in the front cashier, your human front line of interaction. I'll keep the lady's name to myself, as the purpose is not to get the girl into trouble. But the idea of the review is so that you can look into this issue and find a solution. The way it is now, let me tell you, it ain't gonna work. - lol, I never even got the extra cheese I asked for. There ya go! Customer service at its finest.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
I'm usually getting the hot and jazzy here, and I'm never very impressed, especially for the cost. For my own taste personally it seems to be too much dairy/too saucy of a dish and leaves me feeling like I just ate lard. However the tofu is really good in that dish. The service and staff are quick though so maybe I'll give it another try, for a different meal.

Sarah L.

Yelp
CAUTION: the yumm sauce is addicting. Be warned or you too may find yourself making yumm bowls at home to take to work every day of the week (they sell the sauce by the bottle), wondering if yumm bowls constitutes breakfast, and hoping it is a balanced diet. They need to start a yumm sauces anonymous intervention team: I would probably (definitely) need to take part... And learn from my mistakes - do NOT take your family here the first day they visit, or you may find that they do not want to take you to any other restaurants the rest of their visit. Dear cafe yumm, you have changed my life. I now know that when people are wandering the streets with dirty brown paper bags under their arms, they dont have alcohol, its all yumm sauce. The addiction is real
google avatar

Melanie K.

Yelp
Big fan of the yumm bowls. I eat one once a week. It is a bit pricy though for a bowl with things thrown on top
google avatar

Nathaniel N.

Yelp
I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants, but Oregon's Cafe Yumm has earned my respect; the Smoky bowl was excellent, one of the best amalgamations of different culture's cuisines I've had in a long time. Plus killer lemonade!

Yoli X.

Yelp
Just love the Jazzy bowl over there very healthy but those stick snakes which have three flavors are too salty not good.
google avatar

Theresa W.

Yelp
Wow-o wow-o!! Sooo good and well made. Yumm Sauce is definitely "the boss." I had the edamame bowl wrapped with avo. If it wasn't for all their amazing options I would order this every time. My daughters got the veggie burger and we're more than happy with it. We'll definitely be back!!
google avatar

Andrew Q.

Yelp
Cafe Yumm confuses me. This restaurant is probably home to the smallest bowl to most full ratio I have ever seen. That, probably, is the reason why I haven't figured off if they're utterly ripping me off or not. The prices are really high for the volume, but it does fill you up... In addition to that, I got the feeling walking into the store that they prided themselves on making healthy, tasty, nutritionally sound food. I'm not convinced anything they serve is any of these things. The food is some strange combination of delicious and awful. The food, while vegetarian, doesn't strike me as particularly healthy due to generous portions of cheese and cream. It just seems to me that their intentions are good, but their execution is lacking.

Yelp
I dig it. Gina and I went here today, and now that I've gone once, I know how and what I would order in my rice bowl to make it a magical experience. I got the yumm baby bowl, which is jasmine rice, avocado, cilantro, salsa and cheese, with the yumm sauce. The sauce seems to be a miso paste concoction with a little more flair, and while it was good it was a little heavy on the sauce. The bowl was tasty without being so heavy on the sauce. I would definitely go with the brown rice next time, and ask for half the sauce. For a water and a medium yumm baby bowl, it was a little under $8, which was reasonable. What was not reasonable was the fact that a skewer of tofu is $3, and the meats are more expensive.....kinda spendy for an add in for your rice bowl. The restaurant set up was cute with the high booths, and the service was really nice. I didn't like that there was no place to hang my purse in the ladies bathroom, and I ended up finding no toilet paper when I used it and used a paper towel. Unpleasant. We'll be back before I leave to go back home-I enjoyed it, but I think I could enjoy going more now that I've had one experience. It's that kind of joint.

Megan K.

Yelp
I usually don't do reviews but I had to make an account for this. I think this was one of the worst meals of my life. I ordered a chicken bento from here, and it was absolutely NASTY. The chicken had a weird taste and was so rubbery, the coleslaw tasted curdled, the orange sauce (I think that might've been the infamous Yumm sauce) that came with it was pretty disgusting, and the teriyaki sauce was overwhelmingly sweet. I was really upset because this is one of the nearest slightly healthier options around here but it really didn't deliver. Yikes...and it costed over 20$!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
This place reminded me of San Francisco a lot. Modern decor, a nicely designed website, healthy food, small portions, and overpriced. I've only gotten their bowls and Meg G. was right about the portions. I got a small the first time and then I got a medium which was basically the same amount of food as the first. While the sauce is really good, I think they put wayyy too much of it. Its always swimming in sauce! All the ingredients are fresh but I could easily make this myself for pennies. I find a lot of people either love this place or hate it. My roommate who told me about this place is always raving about it but I can't seem to get any of my friends to go with me since they all hate it. Haha. Its good for a quick healthy lunch. The place is small so its usually hard to get a table so I always get it to go.
google avatar

Louise-Annette B.

Yelp
I love Cafe Yumm! Being gluten-free doesn't lend itself very easily to eating out at restaurants so it is fabulous to find a place where most meals are naturally gluten-free and not a pain-in-the-cook's-neck to special order a "different" meal. The original bowl is so good that I had that for the first several times I went but now have branched out to try other items as well. Great, friendly, fast service and fantastic food!
google avatar

Meg G.

Yelp
Love the food, but portion sizes are a bit odd - I usually get the medium Yumm Baby bowl but last time I went I got a large - which was about the same amount of food. The sauce is so good (and yay for gluten and lactose free!) that I like to get a jar of it to use at home. I usually go to campus in the summertime when there's actually parking, but it's still busy during lunchtime. Still, because of the nature of the food it doesn't take much time to be served.
google avatar

Mandy N.

Yelp
I love the chicken skewers and of course the signature Yumm sauce. I don't care how "full of fat" everyone says it is. Full of fat = yummy. Just dip a little chicken in and don't eat it all. The rice bowls are quaint and filling. The up top seating is nice and out of the way. The order at the counter is easy and quick. Stop by for unique flavor and fast service. I would highly recommend to anyone.
google avatar

Krista P.

Yelp
Had a lunch date with my 3-year-old son today. Food is consistently delicious - I had the Yumm Bento with tofu skewer for the first time and it was excellent. They made my son a grilled cheese even though it wasn't on the menu. I really love the food. Unfortunately, it's a little on the pricey side so I don't go there on a regular basis but I am always happy when I do! #CorvSMB
google avatar

Ally S.

Yelp
I've been addicted to Café Yumm for a little over a year now. I used to only indulge in the delight that is cafe yumm every once in a while, but now it has become such a common thing that all the workers there recognize me. I can't get enough & would highly recommend it to anyone who asks- or doesn't.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
If you asked me after the first time I went here, I would have given it five stars. However, the more I eat here, the more I dislike it. The Yumm sauce is SO GOOD, but, as other reviewers have mentioned, that is because it is full of fat. In other words, not healthy. In addition, the price is WAY too high. 90% of your bowl is rice, the rest of the toppings are minimal at best. A 50-50 ratio would make me a little happier, but not much. Also, $2 for chicken... no thank you! The two times I have choked down the cost, they have only given me what amounted to 2 ounces of chicken, not even a serving size. I have tried probably 5 of their different bowls. All have unique, distinct flavors but the original problems still exist. There are so many good things to eat in this world, try this once, then move on.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
It's a little over priced, but if you're looking for a healthy lunch this is the place to go. The items are gluten free, and most options are vegetarian. You can always add chicken though. I would stick with a "bowl", but other than that it's way over priced. For one chicken skewer you pay about $5, and their wraps are ridiculously expensive. It's a nice little chain though.
google avatar

Billie S.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this place was really cool. I was able to get my food between classes and read while I sat and ate. I ordered the Edamame bowl which was slightly sour, but overall an interesting experience. It was a nice place for a light food, I would not go there if I was feeling really hungry. My taste buds were intrigued, but my stomach felt hungry again shortly after...
google avatar

Yelp
Let me be the first to say that I love me some Cafe Yumm. In fact I love it so much that I enjoy going there and ordering food. Imagine that. Unfortunately, after having gone to this location on THREE different occasions during regular business hours in a six month period and finding it closed, I will not be returning. It has actually become a running joke in our house at this point. I get that there are peak times and that in a college town, there might be evenings during certain times of the year when staying open may not be profitable, but locals have to eat too! The next time I have my heart on set on something both spicy AND jazzy, I will make it myself.
